Third Person POV

As Will and Cody left the arena, they went to meet up with Flannery and introduce Cody. It was around nine in the morning and orientation wasn't until nine-thirty, but a dormant competitive energy surrounded the place.

"So Will," Cody said, "who's this Flannery chick we're trying to find?"

"Oh, she's my childhood friend. We came here together, and since the dorms are co-ed, why not share a room together?" Will shrugged.

"Childhood friend? You mean you aren't actively fucking?" Cody said, then got a devious look on his face. "Do you like her, Will? he said.

"Well, of course, I like her. She's my best friend, and she was my only friend until you. So yeah, I like her," Will said, confused about the question.

"No, no, my guy, I mean like, like her, are you into her," he said, still looking at me with a shit-eating grin. A bit of his crude mischievous side started to fade into genuine prodding.

"Maaan, knock it off!" Will said, blushing as he lightly shoved Cody.

Cody cackled as the two made their way to the large hall where orientation was supposed to be taking place.

Will's POV

Cody and I were making our way to the hall, but I couldn't help but feel as if I was being stalked. A skitter could be heard from inside the ceiling, but nothing worth mentioning was around. As we entered the great hall, the feeling subsided.

"Well, it seems like this is the place." I said as I looked at the sleek doors leading into the room.

"Yeah," Cody said "Being real, it's kinda fucking spooky" he said, nervously grinning..

As we were staring at the entrance, a figure in the sunlit hallway approached from the other end. "Will!" I heard as I turned to see Flannery running towards us. I smiled, glad that we found her before orientation or rather that she found us.

"Yo, Flannery!" I said waving over at her.

"How was your exploration session?" she asked as she glanced over at Cody, her face squinting from the rays of light.

"Ah, my bad. Flannery this is Cody, Cody, Flannery is the one I was talking about."

"What's up? Will was talking about you a bit on our way here. Are you okay with bugs?"

"Hell yeah!" she said, giving me a thumbs up. While the two got acquainted in the corridor, I stared into myself and felt the weight of the room beyond. It barely felt real before then.

"We should head on in. Orientation starts in about 10 minutes," I said, anxious to jump into it. With that, we made our way inside the Grand Hall where our futures truly began, or at least it felt like they did.

We made our way in where we saw hundreds, maybe more upcoming students chatting around the chairs and talking amongst themselves. One guy really stood out to me. It was the same purple haired guy from the airport. I think he could sense my staring because he looked directly at me with a fierce stare almost like a glare. I gave him a downwards nod before walking with my two roommates.

"Damn… This place is insane. I know we could see it from outside but being in here is a whole different story." Cody said as he looked around in awe.

Flannery turned and looked at me. "Yeah! And there seems to be a lot of kickass strong trainers here too."

I had a serious expression on my face as I continued to look around. That odd feeling was still lingering, but there were way too many people here to pinpoint it. The only thing out of place was a few unaccompanied Pokemon.

"Will?" Flannery worriedly asked. "Are you good?"

"Huh?" I said snapping back. "Oh, yeah, I'm fine, just can't shake the feeling like I'm being watched," I said as I took one more look around.

"Yeah, we are being watched." Flannery said, waving me off. Everyone in the hall was looking at us as we entered.

"It's probably nothing. Let's go sit over there." I said pointing to some seats in the middle row. It was long after that everyone started to get quiet as the lights dimmed and a woman approached the microphone in the middle of the stage.

Just when I started getting hyped, a chick hurriedly took a seat in the row behind us. Hairs stood up on my back upon her approach. She was the one I was feeling the presence of. I don't know how I knew it was her, but I was sure of it. As the dean started speaking, I quickly moved my eyes to her, saving my stalker concerns for later.

"Ladies and gentlemen, esteemed faculty, and our eager new students!" she said, spreading her arms out wide. "It is truly an honor to stand before you as we embark on this exciting journey together. Our academy is not just a school; it's a place where dreams take flight, adventures unfold, and friendships are forged in the crucible of shared passion! At Orsay Academy, our mission is clear: to nurture the next generation of Pokemon trainers, rangers, researchers, and enthusiasts. Here, you will not only learn about the art of battling, strategic thinking, and the ecology of Pokemon, but you will also develop the skills necessary to become compassionate and responsible Trainers. Our esteemed faculty, many of whom are seasoned Pokemon experts, are here to guide you, inspire you, and help you unlock your full potential. You will find support, camaraderie, and lasting friendships among your fellow , you will share the highs of victories and the lows of defeats, creating memories that will last a lifetime. So, to our new students, I encourage you to approach each day with curiosity, courage, and an open heart. Embrace the challenges that come your way, for they are opportunities in disguise." The dean took a breath, her rehearsed oration finally finished. She looked across the isles, took a bow, and dismissed the student body after giving relevant details, Q&A, and distributing a few pamphlets.

Once the presentation was over, through the uproar of applause (mostly in celebration of the speech being over), the woman behind us stood militantly. Heat radiated from her body like a space heater, and she turned to the rangers around her. "I will be your commanding officer for this school year, and for those of you that go on to serve under me, you will not surpass me. Do not try." the girl spoke softly despite her thinly veiled threat.

"Yeah, she fucking crazy," Cody said, nudging his Joltik away from her.

"Do you wish to repeat that?" she said, eyes hungrily focused on him.

"Yeah, you're fucking crazy,"

With that, the two began roasting the fuck out of each other. Neither of them pulled ANY strings either, so the rangers that were paying attention just stared wide-eyed as they fought. The woman had no shortage of ruthless death threats, and Cody had no shortage of… truly awful language and crude insults.

I pulled my hoodie over my face, having second thoughts about rooming with someone so fucked in the head. Flannery looked at the two, took a deep breath and shouted "Quiet! Both of you!". With that the two stopped whatever argument they were having and sat down. The ranger didn't seem to care, but Cody was clearly shaken. "Damn, she's kinda scary," Cody said, eyebrows raised and mouth puckered. As we got back on pace, I silently thanked her as she winked at me with a nod. With the noise of the lasting applause combined with the uproar of hundreds of teenagers having a hundred different conversations, the two's spar went unnoticed by anyone of importance. With the crowd finally settled, the lights turned back on.

"Make sure to talk with the receptionist on your way out to confirm your rooms, receive your schedules, and get your room keys!" the superintendent said to a chaotic crowd, far more concerned with checking their phones and getting their starters. A teacher sat at a desk outside the gym labeled and told everyone form their groups of four and head to the gym where staff would be to give room keys and assign dorms to the groups and give us our uniforms. The schedules were all through an app we had to set up before going to the stands. As the three of us were ready to go we all realized one thing: we were down a person.

I looked around in a frantic search. From person to person, every answer was a no. Everyone else seemed to have planned this ahead of time, and honestly, I should have too. In the heat of the crowded gym, I felt her presence again. When I turned around I saw the chick that argued with Cody. She had medium length brown hair done into a cheerleader ponytail with wavy strands of bangs popping out, dark brown eyes, and light tanned skin. She was taller than I expected around Cody and I's height. She slowly approached, her combat boots making horrible marks on the hall floor.

"I think you know the proper answer. I've already scouted you out, and you're the best candidate. You don't have a terrible BO, you don't have any gang affiliations, and you have no sex life or social life beyond a single friendship. Welcome aboard." she extended her hand, awaiting a handshake. I noticed the small, unbalanced cyan Pokémon hovering at her side. It had an egg-like head, and just looking at it gave me a mild headache. Its hands had three finger-like digits: one red, one green, and one yellow.

"I'm not amused. I'm kind of in a hurry and need to find a fourth roommate, so if you'll excuse me-" I said, starting to walk past her.

"Not so fast!" she said, turning to see me still walking away. "Don't you walk away!" she growled. "Ronny, cut him off," she said as the creature hovered in front of me.

"Get out of my way, little dude. I need to go," I said, but he just blankly stared at me.

"Listen," she started, "Let me be your fourth roommate. I'll make sure you won't regret it!"

"Yeah, fuck that" I said as I turned back towards the creature when once again she yelled. Come on you cuck! Let me join you. I need a group, and you need a fourth."

"Well for one," I paused. "you're crazy."

"Fair."

"Number two, if you really wanted to join you could've just asked instead of stalking me."

"I could have."

I sighed in defeat. "Okay," I said. "You and your freaky ass can hang with us but one fucking strike, and your ass is on the road and not to Viridian City, I should add."

"Sounds good" she said, devilishly smiling at me as she called Ronny back to her and we started to walk to the reception together.

Before we approached the others at the stand, she stopped me. "Do you believe in aliens?" she asked. I knew it, she was fucking nuts.

"Do I believe in aliens? I mean I guess some Pokemon are alien-like, like Ronny there but why ask me?"

"Well," she said "I'm big into alien theories, but I've never actually talked to many outside of my family or their… business partners. Or wild beasts. Mostly beasts."

"Eh it's alright I'm not crazy into Psychic types but to each their own."

With that I found our fourth member as we made our way to the gym.
