Calliope stared Charon and Triton with an expressionless face.
"So, the doc wants to fight his new, improved toy." Charon said. "Get ready to have some fun, water boy."
"If you say so." Triton said as he rolled his eyes.
Calliope's eyes glowed bright yellow and she suddenly sprang high above Charon and Triton with zooming speed.
Charon activated his Quirk and swung large waves of air at Calliope from his hands, but Calliope swiftly dodged the air waves and blasted Charon away with a beam of yellow energy from both hands. Triton charged forward and formed two tendrils of water from his hands, wrapping them around Calliope and slamming her to the ground multiple times before tossing her away. Calliope recovered and shot out a rapid barrage of yellow energy blasts at Triton, who quickly protected himself with a water dome. Then, Calliope quickly flipped in the air and landed behind Triton as she fired a yellow energy beam that destroyed the water dome and attacked him, sending him to roll next to Charon.
"Having fun yet?" Triton asked sarcastically as he and Charon got up on their feet.
"Somewhat." Charon replied.
Calliope charged forward, making Charon and Triton quickly jump back on their feet.
Triton summoned a large wave of water and sent it rushing towards Calliope, knocking her away. He then conjured several droplets of water into the air and fired them straight at the Synthezoid as solid blades. But Calliope jumped in the air and avoided the solid water blades. She moved forward and swung her arms, firing multiple yellow rings of energy that tossed her backwards. Then, Charon summoned a large tornado from underneath Calliope, lifting her into the air with his Quirk. But Calliope broke free from the tornado with a yellow energy burst. She created a stream of yellow energy in between its hands and fired a yellow beam of energy from her hands towards Charon.
Before Charon and Triton could recover, Calliope wasted no time as her fists began to glow blazing yellow. She charged forward and slammed her fist into Charon and Triton's stomachs, sending them flying to the wall.
After struggling to stand up, Charon and Triton glared at Calliope.
"We're not done yet, robot." Triton said.
"We're gonna blow you away with everything we got." Charon said.
Charon summoned a massive tornado and sent it rushing towards Calliope, trapping her inside at the center. Triton swiftly released a large stream of water at Calliope from both hands. After that water-based attack, Calliope looked at Charon and Triton with glowing eyes.
"Error. Error. Error." Calliope muttered.
Calliope's eyes suddenly unleashed a massive beam of yellow energy, disrupting the tornado and incinerating Charon and Triton at the same time.
At the viewing window, Aurora and Rhina observed the battle with surprised expressions while Daku showed no reaction on his face.
On the floor, Triton slowly narrowed his eyes with pure anger.
This…this robot is too strong, but I can't…give up. Triton thought angrily. I refuse to be a nobody. A loser. A…hopeless child.
[Flashback]
Inside an office room, Triton sat in front of his talent agent.
"I'm sorry, Triton. I'm afraid there's no available openings for you." A male talent agent confessed.
"What?!" Triton exclaimed in shock. "But there has to be a movie or tv show role out there! There has to be! Are you sure?"
"I'm sorry, Triton. It's officially final." The talent agent said calmly. "Because of your condition, no network wanted to pick it up."
Triton looked down with sadness. He started out his acting career when he was ten, stealing the hearts of audiences everywhere across Japan and the rest of the world. But the news of a rare medical condition stunned his ten-year-old body, making him look like a child throughout his whole career. He recalled the times that he had successfully kept the condition hidden until he was eventually discovered by a news reporter, which ruined his chances of continuing as a popular actor.
The talent agent stood up and walked next to the silent Triton.
"I'm truly sorry, Triton. But maybe it's for the best." The talent agent said. "Instead of acting, you could possibly focus on having a normal life. Whatever choices you make, I wish good luck on your journey."
As the talent agent exited the room, eight tendrils of water started forming from Triton's back.
This…this can't be happening to me. Triton thought as heavy tears began falling from his eyes. If it wasn't for that nosy reporter, my career would've never died. He narrowed his eyes with absolute anger. And thanks to my agent's advice, I know just what choice I will make for myself.
[Flashback Ends]
Charon lifted himself off the floor with the help of his Quirk. Just before he could check over Triton, he suddenly stopped and collapsed his knees to the floor.
That immediately caught Aurora, Rhina, and Daku's attention. Mostly Daku, whose eyes narrowed with suspicion.
Charon's mind began racing very rapidly. His eyes cracked open again as his vision was becoming blurrier. All he could hear was the ranting of childlike screams. But he immediately shook the rapid images out of his head and focused on the battle at hand.
I don't know what I just saw, but I've got a robot to scrap. Charon thought.
Charon got up from the floor and went over to lift Triton on his feet with his Quirk.
"You're okay?" Charon asked.
"I'm fine." Triton replied.
Charon and Triton turned to glare at Calliope before exchanging sideways glances.
"Let's finish this." Charon said.
"You read my mind." Triton said.
Charon and Triton charged forward. Calliope's hands and eyes glowed blazingly yellow as she fired yellow energy lasers at Charon and Triton, who swiftly dodged each incoming laser coming in their way. After splitting away in an opposite direction, Triton formed eight large tentacles of water from his back and extended them at Calliope, grappling her tightly and sealing her in a large sphere of water. Before Calliope could react, Charon summoned a massive tornado all around the large water sphere that trapped Calliope inside with great force. Once Charon evaporated the tornado, Calliope was seen frozen in place within the icy sphere.
"Second test completed! Charon and Triton win!" Daku confirmed.
While taking deep breaths, Charon looked at Triton with a smile and held his fist up to him. Triton looked at Charon's fist for a minute and smiled back before clenching his hand into a fist. They then fist-bumped.
"Another successful test. Charon and Triton have excelled their Quirk capabilities." Daku said. "Now, onto the third and final test."
"Who knew a rare condition could keep a child from growing, but still allow him to develop an adult mindset." Aurora said to herself. "Very fascinating, I might say."
Rhina didn't respond as her eyes stated at Charon for a moment.
Nightshade and Opalite found themselves face to face with Thalia.
"Opalite, let's tear this robot to shreds." Nightshade said.
"Love to." Opalite grinned excitedly. "I wanna see if she's more fun than the other scrap bots we've used before."
Thalia's eyes glowed bright purple and she suddenly dashed straight towards Nightshade and Opalite with zooming speed.
