Class 1-A came together in a circle with Izuku at the center; he made sure to look every one of them in the eyes.

"We have two events; we have two events to show the world and those jackoffs that came to talk out their ass outside our class. Two events to show the world what?" he yelled.

"WE ARE HERE!"

"WHAT?"

"WE ARE HERE!"

"BRING IT IN," He called to them, raising his hand as the rest of the class put their hands to his and each other. "TWO EVENTS, LEAVE NO ONE BEHIND, CALL OUT WHAT YOU SEE. SHOW ALL THESE MOHTERFUCKERS!"

"WE ARE HERE!"

When they dispersed, Tsu looked at him, "Such language, Izuku!" she chastised him, though her tone was playful.

"Sorry, I…" he began to apologize.

"No, I liked it; it was very hot." She leaned in and kissed his cheek.

-Aizawa-

He sat in the commentary with a beaming smile hidden under his scarf; this class was going to be everything he could want and everything he feared.

They had bonded, formed a team over the shared trauma of the attack they suffered on the USJ, and then followed that up with an All-Mights press conference and the top-secret meeting the faculty had with that big lummox sharing about what else was forcing this step back. Aizawa had his questions as well as his suspicions. But then he heard about the speech that Izuku had given following the press conference, the way he stood up for the class in the hall.

And it wasn't just words. The boy had a plan, and he got the class to buy in. All of them, even the Bakugo, who seemed to have a hate/rival situation going on with him. Shoto declared he wanted to beat him up to establish dominance, and he turned it both around on them, getting them to agree that working as a team was beneficial, at least for now.

Then, he instituted the plan and had them train and work together. He noticed that Izuku and Tsu seemed to be dating, but as long as it didn't interfere with their school work, he wouldn't bring it up. It seemed to be having a positive influence on Mineta, whose record had some questionable marks on it. Still, since the USJ and his interaction with Izuku and Tsu, he had started to move in a positive direction.

With all this positivity, he just knew that this class was going to be the class to keep him up at night, to keep him on his toes, and to believe that this class was going to be the one to change the world. Also, to bring him the top spots this year in the sports festival. A friendly wager between him and Vlad King about the top spots at day's end had him feeling optimistic that a week without paperwork was all his.

He may have incentivized his class with no homework and some pizza. Teenagers were crazy for Pizza and dangling a lack of homework in front of them, and they may have agreed to run through a brick wall first and ask questions later.

-The Obstacle Race or How to Overcome Terrain Difficulties as a Group and Dominate the First Round of the U.A. Sports Festival-

The first obstacle was getting to the track, a narrowed exit forcing them to bunch like cattle. Answer: Shoto Todoroki would lift the class and provide a slide down the other side and if, in the creation of said slide, some other contestants got trapped in some ice.

Bakugo, Tsu, Izuku, and Mina would be the advanced scouts moving as quickly to the second obstacle by using speed. Mina blushed as the bridal carry from Izuku and Tsu bit her lip; she did promise to make him carry her like that soon.

As the air filled with the tension of anticipation for the start, students began to crowd around the starting line. 1-A did so, but before drifting back into the crowd and gathering on the side, they noticed 1-B at the back, keeping an eye on them. When the gun sounded, the advance squad rocketed off as the Shoto did his part.

The Robots didn't know what hit them; Katsuki had been waiting to go up against these big metal bastards after hearing how Izuku had taken one down in a single punch. Tsu and Mina teamed up to disable another one as their class ran up in the lead.

-Commentary-

"WELCOME, WELCOME ONE AND ALL TO THE LARGEST AND GREATEST SPORTS SPECTACULAR IN THE WORLD, THE OPENING DAY OF THE U.A. SPORTS FESTIVAL! OH YEA," Present Mic bellowed, kicking off the broadcast. "JOINING ME TODAY IS MY FRIEND AND THE HOMEROOM TEACHER OF CLASS 1-A ERASER HEARD! SAY HELLO TO THE PEOPLE LISTENING!"

"Hello, people listening," Aizawa said in his deadpan voice into the microphone.

"SUCH ENERGY, WOWZA!" Mic called into his microphone. "MAKE SURE TO PACE YOURSELF THERE; MY FRIEND CAN'T HAVE YOU BURNING OUT IN THE FIRST EVENT! NOW, HOW DO YOU THINK THE STUDENTS WILL HANDLE THE FIRST OBSTICLE!"

"It will be a question to see if they even recognize it as one. Also, those who will not be taking it seriously are doing the smart thing and moving to the very back. You can see a majority of the business course doing this as they are more here for the presentation portion of the festival." Aizawa scanned the contestants and saw his class line up at the front, then drift into the crowd and out the back. 1-B just lined up to the side and didn't move.

"GREAT ANALYSIS! NOW WE ARE JUST SECONDS AWAY, AND HERE…WE…GO!" THE GUN SOUNDED. "FOUR MEMBERS OF 1-A ARE OVER THE TOP AND OUT ONTO THE COURSE IN SECONDS. AS YOU LOOK AT THAT SHOTO, TODOROKI OF 1-A HAS LIFTED HIS ENTIRE CLASS TO THE TOP AND CREATED A SLIDE DOWN THE OTHER SIDE; IT LOOKS LIKE A FEW OF THE EXITS HAVE BEEN BLOCKED BY HIS SLIDE!"

"THE ADVANCE TEAM HAS MADE IT TO THE FIRST LISTED OBSTICAL. WELCOME TO ROBO INFERNO!" Mic's voice echoed around the stadium as the crowd roared in appreciation at the early action. Bakugo's devilish grin filled the screen as he blew the head off one of the robots to the crowd's cheers.

The crowd let loose a roar when Izuku delivered a spinning kick to another, sending it flying into one of its compatriots, breaking them both. Tsu kicked one off balance with a powerful drop kick; Mina raced in, melted its neck joints with acid, and disabled another tread as 1-A came into frame. Shoto froze a few in place as they were toppling over, creating a passageway for the rest of his class, as Mineta threw orbs all over the track to develop further obstacles for those behind them. The last of the class was through when a few members of 1-B entered the tunnel.

"Thanks for the passageway, losers!" a boy from 1-B with a blue headband shouted.

"Thanks for being so stupid," Shoto yelled back as the ice began to crack, and the tunnel collapsed.

"ERASER HEAD, DO YOU SEE WHAT YOU CLASS IS DOING? THE TEAMWORK, THE CHEMISTRY, THE TRAP LAYING! IS THIS YOUR DOING?" Mic Road firing up the crowd.

"Not this is all them; they decided they wanted to work as a team like Izuku Midoriya said they are here to show the world and the heroes watching "WE-ARE-HERE!" Aizawa, to most voices, was still neutral, but Mic, his longest friend, knew the difference. He could hear the excitement in Aizawa's voice.

-The Chasm of Doom or the Chasm of a Mere Inconvenience-

1-A was across quickly, Ochaco negating some of the other's gravity as they were thrown across, Mineta, of course, leaving some sticky balls on the shorter routes, making those behind them take a longer route. Like a bunch group of children playing in the park, they were across and moving like it was nothing.

-The Mine Field or Killer Vibrations-

Momo created a few shields and a prominent speaker; Izuku, Koji, and Mezo took a position in the front. Kyoka stepped up, plugged into the speaker, and jammed her jack into the ground as the rest of the class took shelter; the stadium was silenced, and students were knocked to the ground, knocked off the wires of the chasm of doom as the minefield exploded

"WHAT THE HELL ERASER HEAD, ARE THEY INSANE!" MIC YELLED.

"NO, THEY-ARE-HERE!"

The crowd just exploded as class 1-A ran into the stadium, stopped at the finish line, and paused as Toru casually walked past everyone, breaking the finish line tape; the crowd was in awe as they all proceeded in some predetermined order. Later, it was discovered that one should never play UNO with Toru. That girl was ruthless.

Class 1-A took all first 20 spots, of course, with Izuku coming in 6th and Tsu coming in 10th, respectively. It was a girl from the support course who came in 21st; she had pink dreadlocks and had this manic grin on her face as she eyed class 1-A. In particular, she seemed somewhat interested in Momo.

1-B came in following her. Most of 1-b made it. They lost some members during the Robo inferno and more when the explosion knocked more of them off into the chasm. The purple-haired boy managed to come in 39th with one of his classmates coming right behind him.

With the first 40 across, the race was declared over, and the announcement of the cavalry battle was met with wild cheers from the crowd. No one could see the look of panic on Toru as the million-point bounty was announced. As the 1-A began to break into their teams, Izuku was about to join his squad when he felt a hand on his shoulder. "Hey, would you like to team up?"

"No…" then everything went blank.

Tsu felt something jolt through her; it set her on edge and raised her protective instinct; she sought out Izuku and was stunned to see him walking off with the boy from General Studies, a silver-haired boy from 1-B as well as a girl with long green vines for hair, they all appeared to be in a daze. She called out to him, and when she felt him want to respond but didn't, she knew something had to be seriously wrong.

How do I break him out of whatever is happening?

Ochaco saw the panic on Tsu's face and ran over, "What is wrong?"

"Something is wrong with Izuku. He ignored me and looked into his eyes," Tsu pointed as Ochaco's hands flew to her mouth.

"He looks like a zombie. We need to figure this out quickly," Ochaco nibbled on her thumb. "Maybe kiss him?"

"Here in front of everyone?" Tsu was shocked.

"It works in the movies!"

Tsu knew that whatever was happening, her boyfriend was struggling internally; she didn't like that feeling. Also, she was worried that if this boy asked him questions about his quirk? Tsu ran over and spun Izuku around, kissing him suddenly before the boy could say anything.

He immediately came back to his senses and kissed her back before blushing as they were in public and on television. As he realized what had happened, he glared at the boy from general studies before reaching out and lightly punching the two students from 1-B in the shoulder. He saw the fog lift from their eyes, and they went to speak, but he cut them off.

"He has some sort of mind control quirk; he took all three of us over; thankfully, my girlfriend was able to snap me out of it," he said quickly. The other two retreated away.

"Go ahead and tell me how villainous my quirk is; you don't understand what it is like to have the world look down on you! You with your flashy quirk," the boy spat out.

Izuku wondered if the boy was baiting him to get him under his control again. "Did you not listen to a word I said during my speech? Those weren't just pretty words; I grew up most of my life quirkless. I wasn't lying when I said it was how someone used their quirk that would determine if that person was a villain, their actions, not their quirk." Izuku took Tsu's hand, "Your quirk would be amazing in hostage situations and could be used to save many lives. But if all you measure your self-worth is by your quirk, then you have already lost."

Tsu looked at him and smiled as he squeezed her hand. "Trust me, I have had a lot of people in my life tell me that my dream of being a hero was a joke before my quirk manifested. But all it took was one person to believe in me for me not to give up. What is your name?"

"Shinso," he responded.

"You can be a hero, Shinso, you can be a great hero. It isn't just about the quirk; it is about the person," he turned and walked away with Tsu. "Thank you for that, Tsu."

"You welcome," she smiled. "As payment, you can take me to the movies after this ends."

"It would be my pleasure!" he smiled.

Midnight took the stage as she called for the rider of each team to register their team and deliver the rules. "Listen up, kiddies; the game aims to collect headbands to increase the team's score. Intentionally making someone fall is prohibited. Even if a team loses their headband or falls, they can continue participating until the thirty-minute time limit is reached." She smiled as the teams were displayed on the stadium boards.

The teams took to the field and got into their positions. Toru could feel all the eyes on her as she was wrapped in the protective cocoon of Mezo's arms; she was shaking. When a hand gently landed on her forearm.

"I hope that is your arm?" Mineta said. "It's okay to be scared; this isn't like the USJ; in the end, it is just a game. You already made a good impression; for now, relax. Mezo will do what he can to protect us. I will try and slow down anyone who comes at us, and we have the best, most sparkly cannon in the world."

"Oui," Yuga called out; he was sticking out of the protective cocoon like a turret.

"If we don't make it, as long as we did our best, then we can sit with our class, our heads held high," Mineta squeezed her arm, letting go.

"Thanks, Mineta," Toru said, though he couldn't see it she was smiling. "Let's do our best, gang. Thankfully, I believe in our class, so I don't think they will come after us, but everyone else is. We need to stay mobile.

"YES, MA'AM!" the boys responded, making her laugh.

This time, a countdown appeared on the big screen, the tension increasing as they approached the start. At Zero, the chaos began.

True to Toru's prediction, 1-B came at them immediately, but thankfully, they weren't being abandoned by the rest of their class, as they wanted to advance as well, so they attacked the flanks of 1-B. It was absolute chaos.

Mezo tried to run, but when the ground softened underneath him, he had no choice but to leap into the air; as he went to go up, the Yuga was knocked silly as they collided with a wall of solid air. The team led by the loud blonde from the hallway Neito was going all out in their assault directed at Toru's team; as they tumbled back to the ground, a young man of medium height, with shaggy, dark hair and thin, lazy-looking, dark eyes, one of his arms began to spin creating a gust of wind that sent them sideways. Mineta launched desperation through that missed their attacker but sent them stumbling as it tagged the lead horse, a portly young man with light blue hair, the class 1-B president.

Izuku's team came diving in with Dark Shadow, snagging two headbands as they made a quick retreat; Ochaco gritted her teeth, negating their gravity as they leaped up and over the softened ground, landing just on the other side of the affected area, Tsu twisted herself in mid-air, her tongue snagging a headband off blonde girl with a horse quirk.

"WE WILL NOT BE MADE FOOLS OF!" Neito roared, ordering his team after Izuku. The blonde girl Pony's rider, the boisterous silver head kid from the hall, glared at Izuku, who flashed him a taunting smile. His team saw the same thing; they saw red and moved to engage, the ground softening again.

"I am nearing my limit; if you are going to do something, do it fast," Ochaco yelled.

"Fumi, can you and Darkshadow give us something to plant off of for just a second," Izuku called out.

"WE CAN AND WE WILL!" they responded.

"Focus it under Tsu; as soon as you feel it, Tsu, push us over to the side. Ochaco, as soon as we get airborne again, release your quirk, then prepare to clash with Tetsu's team, and brace for impact when I tell you." He quickly tried to get a bearing on their surroundings.

He was right. Tetsu came charging right at them. He saw the boy's skin change to metal, and Izuku smiled as he reared back and fired a punch straight at him; at the last second, he angled the punch down and told his team to brace. It wasn't water, but the air pressure exploded the ground in between them, sending Tetsu's team flying back.

Katsuki's team had just thoroughly decimated the team whose rider was identified as Yui by the scoreboard; their leading horse beast of a boy had run head-first into Eijiro's hardened form; Ojiro had taken the opportunity to take out his legs with his tail, and Mina's acid had sent the boy with a speech bubble jumping quite literally out of his shoes. Katsuki's headband was snatched off his head by the cackling Neito. Katsuki's eyes narrowed; the chase and the battle had begun.

Shoto's team had focused on Shinso's team, but the girl with the pink dreadlocks from the support course had come prepared with rocket boots and a small flash-bang arsenal. Izuku had warned his classmates of Shinso's quirk, but he wasn't a hundred percent sure of how it activated when he saw Tenya stop moving. He feared the worst, but Momo was there with her flash bangs, driving their attackers off course. Then Shoto's ice betrayed Shinso's team footing of a second; before they could counter, Sato had stolen a headband, and they retreated.

Toru's team had lost Yuga's headband in the chaos, but they still had Toru's, so the game was still theirs. Kyoka's team came in and blindsided Tetsu's team, stealing two of their headbands, including their lead riders.

It was nothing but pure chaos as headbands were won and stolen; time was ticking as Toru used the fact that her class was on their side to position them between her and any attackers; their game of keep-away was working. She looked at the clock. It was under 20 seconds; they were going to advance.

The roar of the crowd as Tsu and Fumi snagged a few more headbands, Katsuki and Neito's teams barreled into each other. Niren's quirk went to send them flying back, but Katsuki leaped off his team and snagged back his headband and Naito's; he then fired his quirk, sending him flying backward; he almost hit the ground, but Ojiro caught him a foot from the ground, and got him back on their shoulders.

The crowd was counting down, and suddenly, mushroom spores exploded all around them as a hand came into their cubby and grabbed Toru's headband. An explosion of mushrooms forces Mezo's multiple arms open, sending Yuga tumbling; a gigantic hand grabbed Mineta and yanked him away from Toru; it was then the ghost girl Reiko went into action. She reached out, and all their headbands glowed, and with a violent yank, they flew off their head and landed in the outstretched hand of Itsuka Kendo. The timer rang, signaling the end.

"WHAT A DEVASTATING LOSS FOR TEAM TORU, AND WITH AN AMAZING ACT OF TEAMWORK OUT OF NOWHERE COMES TEAM KENDO TO TAKE FIRST PLACE IN THE CALVARY BATTLE; SIMPLY AMAZING!" Present Mic's voice rang out as Aizawa grimaced. He hoped to have it all locked down by the end of the second event, but he had to admit those girls had executed their plan perfectly.

"IN FIRST PLACE, WE HAVE TEAM KENDO, FOLLOWED BY TEAM MIDORIYA, TEAM BAKUGO AND TEAM TODOROKI! TAKE IT AWAY MIDNIGHT!"

"What an exciting battle! Such youthful vigor certainly got my adrenaline pumping." She winked into the camera. "For the 16 advancing members, there will be a 1-hour brake before the tournament starts, so make sure to get some food. For the rest of you, the day is not yet over. Make your way to the outside track, as we have so many Recreational Games to participate in."

Mina went over to the crying Toru, who was comforted by her team. Soon, the rest of the class was there. Bakugo and Shoto were on the very edge, but they were there. As the class went to break apart, with most of them having advanced. The rest wished them luck as they headed for the Recreational Games. Bakugo stopped Izuku, "WE DID YOUR TEAMWORK. DON'T LOSE BEFORE I HAVE A CHANCE TO PROVE HOW MUCH BETTER THAN YOU I AM!" he was almost growling as he turned and stormed off.

"No one will be able to make excuses when I beat you," Shoto said.

"The only person making an excuse will be you," Izuku shot back; the heterochromatic boy froze and stared at Izuku. "If you come at me with only half your quirk, then you are going to lose, everyone is giving their all, and you think half-assing it will get you through. Think again!"

"I will prove to him and you that I can win only using her ICE!" he spat back, anger rising in Shoto's voice.

"And if you lose, then what then? Whatever reason you have for limiting yourself, you better be outstanding, and if you do make it to graduation that way, when you fail in the field and people die because you were too stubborn to use your full power? What then?" Izuku stepped forward, getting into Shoto's face.

"You don't understand! You will see that my ICE IS ALL I NEED!" Shoto roared back, not backing down.

"Then you better not lose before I have that chance to prove you wrong," Izuku smiled at him and walked back to join his friends, who were all staring at him.

"What was that about Izuku?" Ochaco asked.

"I must agree," Tenya said, adjusting his glasses, "While I am pushing members of the class, is the Class President's job to do so in such a manner?"

"I thought it was pretty cool," Mina chimed in, getting looks from the others.

"Shoto is only using half his quirk; I don't care what the reason is; that pisses me off," Izuku said, looking at all of them. "We are all giving everything; he should also. And one day, when he graduates there, someone will die because of it, and I will not let that happen. Now let's all get some food we still have a tournament to get ready for!"
