Christmas Dreams Ch 5
About half an hour into the ride up to the cabin it started to flurry and then it started snowing harder and harder and by the time Derek and Penelope had gotten to the cabin at least 8 to 10 inches had already fallen. As they pulled up in front of the cabin Derek smiled because his baby girl had slept the entire way up, she must have been exhausted, he put the truck in park and turned the engine off as he looked up and saw Hotch, Dave and Reid coming out to help them carry their stuff in.
Reid said, "did you have any trouble?", Derek shook his head and said, "no, what about you guys?", the other men shook their heads no as they grabbed Derek and Penelope's luggage, Dave then said, "we'll come back out later and get the span class="il" Christmas gifts after Henry and Jack are asleep, we don't want them seeing anything that Santa might have brought them" causing Derek to grin and nod his head yes in agreement with Dave.
As the men carried the luggage inside Derek kissed the end of his baby girls nose and said, "wake up sweetness, we're here", she slowly started opening her eyes, she smiled at him and said, "sorry handsome, I didn't mean to sleep the entire way". He said, "not a problem goddess, you were exhausted and sleep was what you needed", she looked around and said, "wow, there must be 8 to 10 inches out there".
Derek said, "yeah, it started snowing about half an hour after we started and the closer we got to the cabin the harder it started snowing", Penelope said, "is everybody else already here?", he said, "yeah, they just carried the luggage in for us". Penelope said, "what about the gifts?", Derek said, "we'll leave them here in the truck, Dave said that we'll bring them in after the boys fall asleep tonight".
Penelope unbuckled her seat belt and stretched, she looked so beautiful today, well she always looked beautiful but today she was so radiant, it was almost like she was glowing, he smiled and said, "let's get inside with the others". She slid out the drivers side and Derek said, "easy sweetness, it's slick out here" as he held on to her and helped her make it to the porch safely, she said, "thank you", he winked and said, "gotta take care of my girl".
They were both laughing as they walked through the door of the cabin, Penelope looked around and saw a huge tree in the middle of the room, Fran said, "we'll decorate that tomorrow, today we'll just wind down and watch it snow". Penelope said, "it's so beautiful here Fran, especially this time of year with all of this snow", Fran said, "I couldn't have said it better Penelope, coming here just felt right for some reason this year".
Emily and JJ smiled at Penelope as she made her way to the dining room, when she joined them at the table Sarah said, "who's up for some hot chocolate?", the air quickly filled with the chant of "meeeeee, meeeeeee" , Sarah said, "alright, I'll get it ready, give me a few minutes" and as she walked across to the kitchen Desi said, "I'll help ya sis" and she too disappeared into the kitchen to help fix cocoa for everybody.
Penelope said, "I can't believe we've already gotten so much snow", Reid said, "we're suppose to get another 10 or so inches tonight and they are saying that by Christmas we could have several feet of snow out there". Penelope said, "several feet, are we going to be okay here, what if we get stranded here?", Dave said, "don't worry kitten, we're fully stocked with enough stuff to last for at least a month, I made sure when we decided to come here for the holidays that I had all bases covered".
Penelope smiled and said, "you think of everything papa bear", he grinned at his wife and said, "with an amazing wife like I have, I gotta pick up my game kitten, can't let Bella down", Penelope said, "that you can't Dave, that you can't". A few minutes later everybody had settled down in the living room in front of the fire and enjoyed hot cocoa with marshmallows, Penelope sighed happily as she relaxed into the embrace of her boyfriend.
She couldn't help but smile, her boyfriend, she would never ever tire of calling her hotstuff her boyfriend, a lot of things had changed between them in the past month and with what she was going to tell him in a couple of days that news, well that news would change their lives and change them forever.
