I don't own Twilight. What I own is my character's behavior, personality, background, and plot of the story.

Thanks to my Beta MadMooey18 for her constant support and help in making this story what it is today.

The next day, Jamie comes knocking on her door as soon as he comes from school. "Hi," he tells her as he nervously looks around waiting for her to invite him.

"Close the door," Bella tells him as she uses her crutches to walk to the dining table right off the kitchen.

Jamie locks the door then follows her slowly and asks, "Are you sure you want to help me?"

Bella sits slowly on the chair then speaks, "Yes. Plus I hate Mrs. Line and I don't want her to keep bullying you."

"Okay," Jamie tells her then takes out his science book out of his bag and opens the chapter they took today. In two hours, he is shutting his books and thanking her for helping him. That is how the next three days pass with her teacher leaving her house only for Jamie to come in asking for help until finally in a fit of boredom, she invites him to stay longer.

"Do you want to play Monopoly with me?" Bella asks him.

Jamie tells her, "I don't know how."

"My daddy taught me. It's easy. I will show you," she tells him, then shows him how to play, and so they find themselves spending the next hour playing it until it's time for him to go home to have dinner with his family. The next day, the same thing happens . After they finish studying, the two of them play together. Before he leaves, Bella invites him to come and play the next day with her even though it's a weekend and they don't have school, but Jamie tells her that he can't because he is going fishing with his daddy.

"If your daddy changes his mind, come and play with me," Bella tells him biting her lips. Jamie's daddy isn't a very nice guy. Sometimes he does stupid stuff. Many times, her daddy had to put him in jail for a day or two. Bella doesn't want him to know that she thinks that he will do something stupid and not take him fishing. Bella doesn't want to hurt his feelings, but she also wants him to know that he can come and play with her instead.

"I know that he won't change his mind," Jamie tells her with confidence. Bella nods her head still skeptical of Jamie's daddy and watches as Jamie jumps down the stairs of the porch. Once he lands on the lawn, he turns around and waves his hand. Bella smiles and waves back then closes the door behind her.

She picks the book up she was reading before Jamie came off the dining table then goes to the couch in the living room and continues reading it. Bella doesn't like how quiet the house is so she turns on the TV and keeps switching channels until she finds the news channel. She lowers the volume because she doesn't want it to distract her from reading then lifts both of her legs onto the couch and leans against the armrest. Her mummy is sleeping, and Phil is buying groceries for them.

Right as Bella gets to the interesting part of the story, the doorbell rings. Bella closes her eyes and leans back hoping that the person ringing door will leave, but the doorbell rings again. Bella huffs in irritation and marks the top of the page she is reading then closes it and places it on the coffee table. She swings her feet to the ground. Not a smart idea since her feet hit the ground too hard and one of them starts throbbing.

"Ouch! Stupid Bella! What were you thinking?" she berates herself, frowning as she drags herself to the door with the help of the crutches.

Finally, she reaches the door then unlocks it and yanks it open. To her shock, she finds Edward standing in front of her with his hand raised midway ready to knock another time.

"Bella, hi!" Edward greets her awkwardly. Bella just stares at him in silence. She is still very angry. He lied to her. He decided someone else is more important than her. He didn't try to apologize. He hurt her deeply and Bella doesn't want to talk to him.

"Can I come in?" Edward asks her as he bounces on the tip of his feet nervously.

"Why?" Bella asks him, barely disguising her anger.

"To talk."

"About what?" Bella asks him not budging.

"About what happened," Edward nervously tells her, his reply coming out sounding more like a question than an answer.

"What happened?" Bella asks him. She knows what happened, but she wants him to admit that he did something wrong. If you do something wrong, you have to admit it. That was what her daddy always said.

Edward looks down at his feet and tells her, "I went to Alice and Emmett's birthday party instead of visiting you."

Bella raises her arms to cross them over her chest, but then remembers that she is holding the crutches and settles instead to moving the crutches slightly then asking him, "What did you want to say about that?"

Edward gets a blank expression on his face and he freezes in his spot unsure of what to say. "Go back home, Edward. I don't want to talk to you," Bella mutters angrily then slams the door so hard that it rattles off its hinges.

Any other time, she would have shuddered at what she did as her daddy always told her to never swing the door too hard, but now she is too angry to care. "Stupid Edward. He isn't even sorry," she mutters angrily to herself.

She ignores the multiple knocks on the door and walks to the couch to continue reading her book, but she finds herself too pissed off to focus on it, and so decides to climb the stairs toward her room and draw instead. The teacher doesn't clap for her as hard as she claps for Jamie when she sees his drawing, but Bella likes to draw and she doesn't care that the teacher doesn't think her drawings are the best. Also, Bella shows the teacher her boring pictures, not the pictures she loves a lot, because Mrs. Lina can be cruel sometimes and Bella doesn't want her to be cruel to her.

Bella hears her mum calling her and she answers her.

"Who's knocking on the door?" her mummy wonders.

"It's Edward," Bella replies.

"What happened?" her mummy asks her softly.

Bella shrugs her shoulders then tells her, "He wanted to talk," and then continues to tell her exactly what happened with her mummy aweing and nodding her head in all the right places. "He didn't apologize mummy."

Her mummy is silent for a moment then she tells her, "You know, I am sure he is sorry."

Bella shakes her head stubbornly and tells her, "He didn't tell me that he is sorry, so he isn't sorry."

"Well, boys can sometimes be stupid," her mummy tells her but Bella just shakes her head and tells her, "Edward isn't stupid. If he was sorry, he will tell me he is sorry."

"If he was sorry, he would have told me that he is sorry," her mummy tells her, correcting her grammar.

Bella just rolls her eyes and tells her, "I am going to my bedroom."

On the other side of town, another thing is happening all together. Edward ignores the pointed looks his daddy kept giving him through out the car ride home. He was stupid. He shut up when he was speaking to Bella. Bella gets angry a lot, but she quickly goes back to laughing and joking with him. Bella is always giggling, and smiling. The Bella that met him at the door was quiet. She wasn't even angry like he thought she would be. She was just quiet and really still, and it scared him. He can always tell how Bella is feeling when he sees her. Her face never lies to him. This time, it was like he was facing a robot.

"Hey, Edward, that was fast. How did it go?" his mummy asks him as soon as he enters the house.

"Horrible," Edward replies, then runs up the stairs to his bedroom. He shuts the door of his room and throws himself on his bed while still in his shoes. He doesn't care that his sheets will get dirty. Since Bella won't talk to him, he might as well get his mummy angry too.

He sighs to himself as he hides his face in his pillow wishing everything could go away. He imagines him sleeping and then waking up to find that what happened is a horrible nightmare. Bella's daddy is still alive. The Brandons did not move next door and befriend him. Most of all, he imagines Bella not having the accident and attending school with him and coming home with him.

"She got a teacher to help her at home, and now doesn't need my help anymore," Edward complains out loud.

"You know that's not true," a voice behind him states.

Edward turns to his right and opens one eye to find his daddy standing in the doorway of his bedroom. "Did you open the door just now?" Edward asks him, having not heard his daddy open the door.

His daddy shakes his head and tells him, "A couple of minutes ago, but you were too busy muttering to yourself to hear me."

"I want to be alone," Edward tells his daddy knowing better than to tell his father to get out, but wanting him to leave him alone.

His daddy doesn't leave, but instead walks into the room and closes the door behind him. "You want to talk about what happened."

Edward rolls over till his back is to the bed and tells his father, "There is nothing to talk about. Now that Bella doesn't need my help in school, she doesn't want to talk to me."

His daddy rolls his eyes at him and tells him, "You know Bella better than that. Do you really think that is why Bella is your friend?"

Edward covers his face with his hands too bothered by the light on the ceiling and mutters under his breath, "No."

"Then why are you saying that?" his daddy asks him patiently.

"Because she won't talk to me!"

His daddy walks toward his bed, sits down then tells him, "Tell me everything that happened."

Edward sighs then sits up too bothered by the light shining straight into his eyes, then tells his father exactly what happened. "It was like I was talking to a robot and the moment I didn't know what to say, she told me to go and closed the door."

"You didn't apologize?" his father asks him. Edward looks down and shakes his head.

"And you didn't tell her that you were scared that she would be hurt and angry with you for changing your plan?" Edward shakes his head again.

His daddy shakes his head and asks him, "Why did you not apologize, Edward?"

Edward doesn't answer his daddy and instead continues to stare at his shoes. "Edward!" His daddy mutters in frustration.

"Because I didn't do anything wrong. Mummy should not have told her that I was at the birthday party. I didn't make a mistake," Edward bursts out loudly looking at his daddy.

"Don't be ridiculous, Edward. You were wrong."

Edward shakes his head stubbornly and tells him, "No. There is nothing wrong with going to a birthday party. There is nothing wrong with telling a little white lie to not hurt someone's feelings. You do that to mummy all the time."

Edward's daddy turns to face him and places both hands on Edward's shoulders then tells him, "First of all, you promised to never repeat that ever."

"Sorry," Edward replies not sounding apologetic. Why should he apologize when his mummy can't hear them?

His daddy doesn't believe his apology, but continues, "Moreover, my lies don't get uncovered, but yours did. Lying is wrong which is why you never wanna be caught in a lie and if you find yourself caught in a lie, you need to let go of your pride and apologize."

"So, you are doing something wrong?" Edward asks his daddy in surprise.

His daddy nods his head then kisses his forehead and leaves his room. Edward spends the next ten minutes staring into space trying to understand when his daddy started doing bad things. Eventually, he goes to brush his teeth so he could sleep. His sleep is plagued by a nightmare starring Bella in which she refuses to talk to him or forgive him.

As soon as the sun is up, Edward has his shoes on ready to go to Bella's house to apologize. "You know that you don't have school today, right?" His mummy tells him as soon as spots him as she makes her way down the stairs.

Edward nods his head, biting his lip and asks her, "When can you drive me to Bella's house?"

"How long have you been up?" his mummy asks him instead.

"Since before daddy woke up. When will you take me to Bella's place?" Edward demands impatiently.

"As soon as it's socially acceptable to take you," his mother quips as she fires up the skillet to fry some eggs.

Seeing the confused frown on Edward's face, his mummy giggles lightly, then ruffles his hair and opens the fridge. Edward huffs in irritation as he watches his mummy make breakfast for him. Edward considers arguing that he needs to apologize to Bella before having breakfast, but figures that it will be a waste of time to do that, and wolfs down the food as soon as the plate is put in front of him. His mummy admonishes him for eating quickly, but he doesn't give it much thought.

Finally after two hours of Edward pacing around his house, his mummy has mercy on him and tells him to get in the car. Edward runs to it, buckles himself in and closes the car door before his mummy is even out the door. He fights the urge to tell his mummy to go faster by holding his tongue and counting the cars they pass by until they finally reach Bella's home.

Edward unbuckles his seat belt and opens the door before his mummy turns off the car's ignition. He runs to Bella's door and rings it twice. He waits for another minute, then rings it again. After three more minutes, Bella finally opens the door.

Before she slams the door in his face, Edward quickly tells her, "I am sorry."

At the blank look on Bella's face, Edward continues, "I am so sorry. It was stupid of me to do that. I wanted to go to that party because Emmett is really big and I don't want him to bully me. I want him to be my friend. You stopped Jamie from bullying me, but you can't stop Emmett from doing that, but also I didn't want you to think that Emmett and Alice are more important friends to me than you. They aren't. I like you more."
