A/N: Lord of Frenzy and I Want it All are nearly ready~! They're going to be loooong chapters.
Alas, they still need tweaking. Sun's up over here, and I've run out of time.
I'll try to update them later this afternoon/evening.
Hope you enjoy this idea in the interim.
That said, "The Fifth Kingdom" and "Foxfire" are coming along quite nicely~!
With my fifteen year anniversary on this site here, I find myself reflecting on the little things in life. What was once a lazy pastime meant for me and a few friends really grew and evolved over time. There are days when I look back on the last fifteen years here and I wonder if anyone will remember me; if I made an impact, despite never making a single cent on any of these stories. Some days were happier than others, and some stories I enjoyed writing WAY too much; to the point where I'd stay up all night working on them.
And of course, there are times when I look to the future and wonder what will become of things when I'm gone.
Of course, I try not to dwell on the latter overmuch; I'm still alive and still writing. In an ideal world, I'd like to keep doing so for as long as I can. But old age is catching up to me and these days, the world is filled with so much madness and death. It feels like the everyone's lost their minds the world over. Even before that, so many friends and fellow writers I once knew are gone, now. Will I still be here in twenty years? Ten? Five? Its a chilling thought. But for now, I'm still here, still writing.
So here we go. The fate of this story depends on you, the reader. Your feedback determines the fate of this tale, and many others.
I'm just a humble author trying to make his way in this wild world, one word at a time.
Time and feedback will determine if this remains a story. Simple as that.
In other words...its up to YOU, the reader. Do let me know~!
Writing a reincarnated Naruto is always amusing...
...but I wonder...has anyone tried this angle?
"Huntsmen and huntresses kill Grimm all the time.
But you, you poor deluded boy...
...you will be worse.
~?
Grimmslayer
So.
This was how it felt.
To experience pain. To be mortal.
...you know, its funny." he rasped a laugh. "I'm not used to seeing this much of my own blood anymore."
He rose with a grunt, shaking the last bits of Grimm dust off his armor. The wound in his back protested miserably with every breath, throbbing alongside the hole in his shoulder. He couldn't feel his legs anymore. But still he stood. Because he had to. Because he must.
The gates sealed behind him, the last of the refugees safe within the city at last. He smiled at it, watching the sun creep ever lower behind the horizon.
Something rattled behind him.
He whirled, hammer in hand, rasengan swirling in the other.
No attack came. No ambush, no claws in his back. Nothing at all.
He wasn't surprised to see the Seer -by the log that was an awful joke- wobbling before him, anymore than he was to see the damn thing shrivel up and die. Its tentacles curled inward as it struck the ground. He watched its body bounce once and dissolve into smoke, knowing what was to come.
A woman arose from the haze to scowl at him. "Naruto. You have become an annoyance."
How could someone so beautiful be so broken inside. He pitied her, even now.
"Hello again, Salem." he coughed blood. "Why the long face?"
"..."
"You fight against inevitability, like so much dust in the wind." her pale face was writ with fury, each word dripping with caustic venom. "This seems a victory to you. A new city saved, spared from the horde. You have merely delayed the inevitable. Even now, the kingdoms are doomed to fall. No one will miss you, old man. No one will mourn you. You will die. You will be forgotten, nameless and alone.
Yuuuppp. Definitely a sore loser. He almost found it funny; she'd lived for thousands of years, yet she could be such a child sometimes.
"Maybe you're right." he propped himself up on the long haft of his weapon. "Maybe I can't win this." Sanity was a curse; he almost wished he were insane; he'd exhausted himself and his chakra alike. "Maybe I can't kill you." He might just die for real this time. Kurama would've laughed at him. It was a life well spent. "Maybe it was all for nothing."
"Then why persist? Why defy destiny?
"Because I made a promise." With a grunt, he levered his body upright to smile at her. "I told my wife I wouldn't let the light go out. Pointless or not, I'll fight you all the same. I'll keep fighting you. Just like I did Kaguya. Just like I'm doing right now. Life finds a way. That's what we humans do. What I just did. People will remember this day, and when they do, they'll feel hope."
A bit of blood was a small price to pay for the future.
"You saved a few thousand lives. They are insignificant ants."
"Maybe to you." he shrugged one shoulder. "But how many of those ants had silver eyes?"
She scoffed. "Silver eyes can only hinder me, not kill me."
"True, but what about chakra? My chakra? Care to guess?"
There it was. Something in her eyes. "...!"
"Don't worry. I'll tell you." he granted her a shit-eating grin. "HUNDREDS. Ozma knows your scheme now. You'll never touch them. More than a few of them have been studying seals. You know what that means." the fear in her gaze gave him more relief than a thousand deaths. "I had no real talent for the art myself, but my children and grandchildren? And their children? That's a different story. Chakra's potent. It only gets stronger each generation. You think Huntsmen are annoying? You ain't seen nothin' yet."
"No."
"Yes!" he cackled.
"No, no! You're bluffing!"
"Hehe. Care to call my bluff, then?"
"No, no, no!" her voice piqued into a shriek. "I won't allow it!"
"Too bad!" He threw his head back and laughed at her. "There's nothing you can do now! GAME OVER!"
Salem screamed at him.
She was still screaming, and he still laughing, when the Grimm came again for the Glenn again. Didn't matter. The gates were sealed. The people, safe.
Naruto clapped his hands together and hefted his mighty haul. Blue eyes blazed gold once more as he reactivated Sage Mode. He could see another Horde coming for him. If today was to be the day of his death...so be it. Today was a good day to die. He would remember this moment, if nothing else, the look of utter fury on Salem's face. The day he made the Queen of the Grimm throw a tantrum like an utter child. Ozma would never let her live this down.
What a lovely day.

The pistol pressed against the back of his head.
He blew out a sigh. "It was you, wasn't it? All this time."
A long, drawling sigh. "Always has been."
The dust round slammed into Ozpin's head and catapulted him into another life.
"I will never be alright...and I'm okay with that. But you and your brother are a bunch of idiots. There's a reason we don't have kings these days.
Three rounds to the chest. He watched them the light leave their eyes. He hardened his heart to it and left her there, dying in the dunes.
"Die with your dreams and be forgotten, Gillian. Jax is next."
He planted a fist on his foe's back and slammed a fist into the air. "Are you not entertained?!
The arena was silent for a long moment. He almost dared to hope.
Then they erupted into cheers.
