Lovely Lane Chapter 1 Spring Vacation
THE EYE – SANTA MONICA, CA
"Clark, I can't believe that we're up here!" Lana squeales. "I have been looking at the brochure for ages, never imagining that I could actually be so lucky. It's on my bucket list you know."
"Bucket list? You aren't old enough for a bucket list."
"What? Anyone can have a bucket list." She snorts.
"But, that's a list of things to do before you die! You are a long way from that." 'I hope!'
"Well, my list is long; I need to get started."
"May I see that list, please?"
"Someday."
"Someday?" He pouts.
"Yup, I'll let you know when it's ready for viewing." She smirks at him. And gives him a solid kiss on the lips.
LUNCH ON THE PIER
They are having a relaxing lunch on the Santa Monica pier; Clark took forever to decide what to order. It was a tossup between fish tacos or crab cakes. The tacos won out when he saw a guy 2 tables over have some delivered to him . . . they looked delicious. Shortly before that table's food arrived the young lady with him had slipped away for a moment. When she returned and took her seat her jacket had slipped up momentarily, revealing for Lana's gaze a badge clipped to her belt & a weapon tucked into her waist band at the back. 'Law enforcement' Lana thought. She whispered her observation to Clark.
Intrigued, Clark turned on his super hearing. He heard the young lady – a tall, strikingly beautiful brunette – ask her dining partner (in a whisper) if he had noticed anything suspicious going on at the bar. He whispered in return, "No, but they seem really chummy with the bartender. But the barkeep isn't on our radar."
Clark shifts his head slightly to get a better angle on the 3 men at the bar – 2 patrons & the bartender. He hears the server mumble, "One sip and she'll be a goner. Then you need to move quickly; her shaggy partner is good, and quick!"
Clark notices that the woman hasn't taken a sip yet, but she is twirling her long-stemmed beverage glass. She is probably about to take that sip!
He leans toward Lana and whispers, "couple, 2 tables over, need a beverage accident."
She glances that way and nods slightly.
Clark gets up suddenly, tipping over his chair and striding towards the couple's table. As he approaches them Lana gets up; as he is behind them Lana gets to Clark and shouts, "You can't say that and just walk away, jerk!"
She pushes Clark, which barely moves him. He pushes her in return, which sends her sprawling into their table upsetting both beverages.
"Oh My God. I'm so sorry," Lana exclaims. She snatches some napkins from an adjacent table and starts to help with the clean-up. During the clean-up chaos, Clark goes into super-speed mode and gets a sample of the spilled drink. A waiter comes over to assist and Lana goes back to her seat, apologizing all the way. Clark rejoins her, gives her a peck on the cheek and a verbal apology just loud enough for close-by patrons to hear.
When their food arrives, they ask for it to be boxed for carry-out. They leave, slipping around a corner of the eatery. Lana stops out of sight; Clark returns and saunters over to the seated couple. He hands the surfer looking guy a baggie with liquid in it. "Evidence from a gentleman at the bar," and hurries off. The couple are stunned and Clark is out of sight before they can react.
They jump to their feet and run to where they saw Clark disappear. They turn the corner – nobody is there!
As soon as Clark had turned the corner, Lana hopped on his back. She clung to him and they were gone. They flew to the rooftop of a nearby building and stopped, waiting to see what would happen. Shortly the 2 LEO's appeared; got into a Cadillac SRX and drove off. Clark & Lana followed them and observed them park and enter a covered boat dock at a nearby marina. They took note of the address, but not wanting to intrude in what was obviously none of their business they returned to the pier, found an empty bench and after Clark warmed their food, they ate their lunch.
THE EYE – AGAIN!
"Clark, can we ride The Eye again, please?"
"Is that on your bucket list twice, sweetheart?"
"No, but I loved it and the sun is going to set in 15 minutes. Please?" Puppy dog eyes and a soft kiss on the lips.
He melts. "Ok, since you asked so nicely."
They get in line, board, and are ½ way up when they hear a scream.
"MY BABY!"
They see a small child falling from a car at the top.
Lana looks at Clark, "GO!"
IN A FEW SECONDS TIME
Clark rips open the door of their car, leaving the hinges intact,
He flies to catch the child,
He deposits her behind some booths,
He returns to Lana's side,
He repairs the broken latch with his heat vision,
He and Lana become onlookers; watching as the child is found and when the car returns to the bottom the child is reunited with her parents.
"Thank you, my super-man!" Lana snuggles closer as they watch a fabulous CA sunset.
NCIS-OSP BOATSHED
Hetty is curious, almost furious. "What the hell happened to the OP? That was pretty routine, and you are the best 'I thought'," she glares at Kensi and Deeks.
"Well, there was this . . . couple," Kensi stammers.
