Judy POV
Long time no see and hopefully it doesn't take to long. I'm almost finished with the Underworld its going to plan out better than what happened in FTB
Living in Zootopia has been a wonderful time. It's a beautiful city full of life. It's been barely a week but Zootopia became a second home. I won't live in my starter apartment forever. After all, it's just a starting point in my new life. Where do I want to live? I haven't got a clue. My parents would love it if I lived in Meadowlands as the majority of rabbits live there. So do sheep and goats. It would be so safe. Speaking of my parents, I can't believe that they had an adventure traveling to Zootopia because Molly went on top of the train. We all know she could get to high places but on top of a train is crazy. Then she went on inside the train. She wanted to follow me. It would be so sweet if it wasn't so terrifying. Then she did it all over again. What they said seems like a tall tale someone tells to make their stories lively. Yet it happened and that's a story we're keeping among ourselves. The drama would hurt our family and it's something that shouldn't have happened.
Well, my apartment isn't the best but it's a start. It will be like living in a doom. Also, I'm used to small spaces. My neighbors have the apartment behind framed pictures that aren't mine and are a married couple. I'll keep them up for now. I'll get more stuff in a short while. I am going to hang some pictures from home. Their names are Pronk and Bucky Oryx-Anlterson. Pronk is a Gemsbok and Bucky is Kudu. They're the same age and older than me. They're thirty years old. They were rude but I think we're going to get along eventually. My other neighbor is a quiet lion and older than me as well. Didn't catch his name. If this fox is living here I'll have to keep an eye on him. It looks like he's hiding something. Living here is going to be good.
I sit on my bed, not the most comfortable bed but it will do. The apartment already had it and I asked if I wanted to keep the old bed. It saves me a bit of money. I'm just waiting for my family to call. We planned to class after dinner time. I had something from a fast food place. They should call any minute now. As a matter of fact, they do. We decided on mostly video calls. I see Mom and Dad. He's sitting on his chair. He has that look of a hard day and he has iced his paws. Life as a farmer can be hard on your body. I figured they would have taken a break.
"Judy you made it," Bonnie said "So how's the apartment?"
"It's small but nice," I say
"Are there predators living there? You have to watch out for them." Stu said "Remember what I do you.
"There are some and I do remember what you told me," I say
I would roll my eyes if I could but I won't do that in front of my parents. It's easy to show them the apartment. It's a single room and has a small bathroom. I see that they're not overly happy about my living place.
"Hopefully this isn't a forever place," Bonnie said "Maybe you'll meet a nice buck or doe to live with."
"Also living in Meadowlands not a lot of predators living there," Stu said
"Mom and Dad this is just temporary," I say "There weren't any apartments in my range at the time."
It always seems to be about bucks and predators between Mom and Dad. They still want me to find this nice buck. Or a doe if I was gay or bisexual. I will I'm just focusing on my career right now. I tried finding one in Meadowlands but was unlucky. This will do for now. I don't tell them about the fox. They already don't like this and I don't want them coming here to check up on me.
"Well, hopefully, there will be one soon," Stu said
"Yeah…." I say
Before I can ask what happened to Dad my siblings come in to say hi. It's like a parade of hellos. I say hello and wave at them. Not all of them do that, it would take forever and some won't talk to me. Thinking I was crazy that I moved to Zootopia to be a police officer. I don't see Molly among the crowd. She always loves saying hi. Once that happens I see Molly in the time-out corner so that's why she didn't say hi. Getting on that spot was always annoying.
"What did Molly do and what happened to you, Dad?" I ask
"Molly decided to take a joyride on top of the train twice," Bonnie said
"What?!" I whisper
So they told me about what happened after I went on the train. Molly, of course, wanted to follow me as young siblings do. I wanted to follow my older siblings. As a rascal little climber, she can get into places. But on the top of a train seems impossible. Mom hotwiring a car is possible, it is information you can look up. Mom driving like she did doesn't seem like her and they almost crashed into Gideon. While he may be a fox he doesn't deserve to be in an accident. They also vaulted some retreat in the woods. Springing into Tundratown where a family was playing in the snow. Then they get close enough so Dad can board on top of the train. Molly was already inside and I was distracted by music and happiness to hear the calls and Molly. Dad managed to stay on during the hot and cold weather but fell in the Rain Forest District. Mom saved him and finally, the train got to the train station. Molly tried to follow me but was knocked off the platform. Dad was able to save her and Mom saved them both. They praised each other and kissed which Molly was able to get back on top of the train heading back home. They went to challenge the new adventure head-on until Dad threw out his back.
"Wow, that's crazy," I say
That's all I can say in the matter for this seems like a tall tale. It explains why Molly is on time out and Dad resting. The family truck can be fixed and Dad's back will be fine in a few days. That's a story we keep to ourselves.
"It was and it has been a long day," Bonnie said
"So goodnight Judy," Stu said
"It has been a long Dad," I say "Goodnight Mom and Dad."
I'm not surprised they're calling it a night and I want to go to bed early. We kiss each other goodbye and the call ends. I think about my parent's crazy story and they wouldn't make it up. I looked up the news and what happened hadn't appeared in the news. Something like that would appear on the news. I have heard about train surfers on the news. I'm glad that wasn't on the news for it would have been bad.
Nothing came off, it's just a crazy story that my family has. Gideon hasn't told anyone about what happened to him. If he did, no one would believe him since he's a fox and my family is well-loved. Speaking of regret, Nick Wilde is going to regret his words.
Well, that is a record two hundred one tickets before noon. Might as well get some lunch after working so hard. I'm going to give out one more ticket before heading to get some lunch. I might as well go to that business fair. I walk over to the fair and see a car parked where it shouldn't be close to the fair. Whoever drove past the barrier and parked. That's just plain rude and I give him another ticket. As I give out the ticket I see a van pass by a fox. He gives the driver an annoyed look as he drives to another van. What is he doing here? He has to be up to something so I follow him. Watching him closely as he heads to this one business. Looks like they deal with jewelry. I look to see that Officer Wolfard is here and he likes me. We wave at each other. Looks like Nick is trying to buy something. How could he afford that? How could the mayor hire the likes of him and his wife? It would have been better to hire a prey, even a predator at home. I know there are fantastic photographers back home.
"I would like that one," Nick said
"Right away sir,"
I see that he chose a nice necklace too nice for a fox to afford morally. The star reminds me of the second star to the right. Nick paws her the money and she takes it. Placing the necklace in the box and a small bag. Before he can go an older cougar woman comes from behind the booth. She takes the money and looks at the hundred-dollar bills. I heard her let out a sigh and I knew that he was up to no good.
"These hundred dollar bills are counterfeits. Officers this FOX is trying to con me!"
That cougar can shout and feels like everyone heard that. She was trying to get Wolford's attention so she didn't see me. Others are interested and I hear their whispers. I look over at Wolford; he doesn't move. So I'll sort this out and make sure that Nick pays.
"I'm a father I wouldn't pull a con," Nick said
What Nick's a father? I suppose he was good with kits. I do remember seeing different foxes and vixens with them. All of them are young and have disabilities. Alright, this is just a misunderstanding. Foxes are loving parents as well. I walk over to the booth.
"Hold on I think this is all misunderstanding I can double-check to sort this out," I say
I do know how to tell if a bill is counterfeit because that's something a cop can run into. So I learned how to know if bills are counterfeit. The older cougar isn't happy to see me and I have seen that look. She doesn't think I'm a cop. I have gotten that look many times and I am a police officer.
"What do you want meter maid?"
"I'm an officer actually madam," I say
Meter Maid, I'm no Meter Maid this is just temporary it's not going to be a career. Like Mabel has made it a career. She's an old goat that has been giving out tickets for decades. That would drive me crazy. Now she only works half time wanting to keep active. I have seen the elderly working hard to stay active and their minds working hard. The older cougar gives me counterfeit bills. I take them feel them and they don't feel counterfeit. They have that crisp money feel. I hold each bill to a source of light. Looking to see if there's coloring changing ink at the right paw of the bill. Based on the ink these bills are looking to be authentic. I look at the watermark. Yep, the watermark is real. I'll look at the serial number. The numbers are evenly spaced and perfectly aligned. Each hundred dollars has its own number. The bills have blue and red fibers they're not drawn on. Since bills are made from cotton and linen, they have those fibers.
"Yeah, these aren't fakes but real hundreds," I say
"How do you know that meter maid you're not a true officer?"
"I'm just doing parking duty for now and was top of my class. I know what I'm doing." I say "Did you know reporting a false crime is a misdemeanor? Is it either a huge fine or jail time."
I'm going to tell her what's going on so she knows the truth. For you should stand up for the truth. Mammals whisper about what happened. The older cougar looks worried and she should be. You shouldn't report false crimes, that's how innocent mammals get sent to prison or jail. Nick looks happy and he's lucky. He won't be lucky in the future; he's going to get caught doing something shifty.
"Alright, I was mistaken,"
Alright, that was taken care of and felt great. I felt like I was a police officer. I'm going to have more moments like that. It's going to happen very soon. At least she saw the error of her ways. Other mammals go about their day. She takes the money back and places it in the cashbox. I turn over to Nick feeling so proud. Nick has a smile on his face.
"Thank you for the help," Nick said "It's nice knowing that mammals will still help out a fellow mammal," Nick said
"It's what I do," I say
"Since I'm a business owner and artist I will give you a free sketch," Nick said "A little thank you for helping me out. A style that I have skilled into my way."
"That would be nice," I say
I have always enjoyed commission artwork. I have a few of them back home. I wanted to help out small-time artists. Since he's giving the artwork to me for free I can take it. I would choose a different artist if had to pay. He takes out a notebook and I want one that makes me look like I'm chasing down a criminal in the downtown area of Zootopia. It only takes Nick a few minutes to create my unique sketch.
"This is amazing," I say "It burns me up to see folks with such backward attitudes towards foxes. You're a great dad and a….articulate fella."
The sketch is amazing and I was never good at art. I do enjoy looking at artist work and seeing how they make it their own. I think that chalk art is amazing when it's done so well. Sometimes it can make you seem like you're falling. He truly is a great dad and well-articulate fella.
"Such high praises makes me feel like I'm walking on clouds," I say "It's rare to find someone so non-patronizing. Thank you, officer….."
"Hopps," I say
"Nick Wilde," Nick said
"Stickers for your kits," I say, "Whatever dreams they have they have your kits should go for it for it because this is Zootopia, anyone can be anything."
Kits love stickers and they love police stickers. They also love getting police stickers I sure did when I was their age. I did when I was kit and I haven't seen that change. I give him a small roll of stickers because I heard that he has more than one kit. Nick takes the stickers from me.
"They will love these," I say "I will tell them that goodbye, Officer Hopps."
"Bye!" I say happily
I'm in a good mood right now so I walk with a happy step in my walk. Still have to get some lunch. What am I in the mood for? I take out my phone to see what businesses are here. The food trucks are in one direction. Looking at each food choice there are choices for predators and prey. So I decided on having all veggie club sandwich and some ranch chips. So I head over to that food truck. As I walk over there I see Nick's artwork, not his signature. So I ask to see each one and take a picture. I can't read the signature but it's different. I'll sort it out after I have lunch.
"What would you like meter maid?"
"Officer Hopps," I say "I would like the whole veggie sub and bag of ranch chips."
I tap my foot in annoyance that nickname isn't going to stick. I'm going to prove those who doubt me. Those who call me meter maid are going to eat their words. I pay for my meal and he gets to work. It won't take long to get my lunch. I hear footsteps and turn around to see a rabbit same species as me. He is a few years older than me. He's wearing a jacket, a shirt that has paint splatter, and jeans. I see that he has a small bag with him. This buck is an artist.
"Hello there Officer Hopps," Nelson said "My name is Nelson Marsh. It's a pleasure to meet you."
"I feel the same way," I say
Now Nelson knows what talking about at least he can see clearly. He holds out his right paw and we shake. Nelson got a nice firm pawshake and there's a ring so he's married. I wasn't going to flirt with him. He can be a good friend. He gets a meal like me and we sit together.
"So you're defending this fair from shifty predators?" Nelson asked
"Still on parking duty but I can keep an eye on that," I say
"Well, I think you shouldn't for you belong on the streets," Nelson said
I take a bite of my sub and it's good. Nelson right I don't belong in parking duty I was top of the class. Chief Bogo doesn't see that Mayor Lionheart did that's why he assigned me to precinct
one. At least another sees it and hopefully, Chief Bogo does as well. Then I can make the world a better place.
"That's going to happen soon," I say
"Yes it will and you'll be a fantastic cop," Nelson said "We need more like you ones we can look up to and trust the most."
"Yes, I will make the world a better place," I say
"Totally," Nelson said
Nelson and I get talking and he's from Meadowlands and lived there his whole life. I know some of his family live in Bunnyburrow. Just like the Underwoods, we get along nicely. Nelson is a nice buck and he has one lucky doe. Together they have ten kits and plan to have more.
"So you're a grade school art teacher," I say
"That I am and I have a small business on the side." Nelson said, "Speaking of that, I know how you can make the world a better place for my family."
"What can I do?" I ask
I like hearing those words and I want to help him out. After all, that's what a police officer does. This is going to make me feel like a real police officer. Nelson smiles and he takes out something from his bag. In his bag is artwork and he's the artist that Nick copied from.
"It's hard getting your art business running when a fox is conning his clients and I get little of them," Nelson said "It does hurt my family in the summer."
"I knew that fox was lying." I say "I can help you out with that."
"Thank you, Officer Hopps you're a lifesaver," Nelson said
I finish what's left of my chips and we shake each other paws. Nelson throws his trash away and leaves. I get up doing the same and now I got to find that shifty fox. I walk over to their booth and a hyena is running the booth. He has to be one of their workers. I haven't seen a lot of hyenas in my life. A few do live in Bunnyburrow and you don't forget their laughter. Nick's not there and I'm not going to talk to a hyena. So I head over to their photography booth. Katheryn is working hard. There's a spotted lynx with her that's Serenity I have seen her around Bunnyburrow. Many lynxs live in Bunnyburrow. I have always the fuff that their ears have. I heard that Katheryn had unlawful arrest and the officer that arrested her was arrested. It wasn't the first time and police officers like that give us bad names. She's lucky that her shiftyness hasn't caught up to her. Nick is not around and I know that Katheryn would lie for her husband. So I head off to where the food is.
Nick's there enjoying a popsicle he must have gotten after a hard day's work to him. Looks like he's having a blueberry favor. He must loved them for he brought a lot of them in Bunnyburrow. He looks over at me happy and I'm not. He's going to pay for what he has done.
"Hello Officer Hopps," Nick said
"Don't say hello like that to me you liar," I say
"I told so such lies," Nick said
"Yes you did you told me that you're an artist but I discovered you're just a con artist you liar." I say "So you're under arrest slick Nick."
"I told no such lies," Nick said "What am I under arrest for?"
"Selling without a permit and plagiarism," I say
Selling without a permit or license can get you into huge trouble. For the majority of the time, you pay fines or penalties the range depends on what happens. For someone like Nick, it will be a big fine. There's a chance of lawsuits and loss of their business. They won't be able to bid on new opportunities or they can new products or services. Lost of reputation which I doubt they have. Finally, you can be arrested. As for plagiarism, you can get into huge trouble. Nelson can sue if we prove Nick plagiarized his artwork.
"I do have a permit and I said I put my own spin on an art style not that own it. Also many do the same art style it's not plagiarism and he's doing this out of jealous Carrots."
I showed him the Nelson artwork that I collected. It's the same as Nick. I'm going to prove that Nick was copying his artwork. Nick looks at them with a smirk on his face how rude can he be? Nick takes out his permit and I see it's up to date. I tap my foot in annoyance. He's right he never claimed that he owned the art style and loads of artists use the same art style. Now he's calling me by a Nickname he doesn't take me seriously.
"Don't call me Carrots," Judy said
"Well, I do know you're from Bunnyburrow and that the Hopps family mostly grows carrots. You have fantastic blueberries." I say
"Well, my family's farm is one of the best," Judy said
"Well, that's where you should be for you're way over your head. You had this cute little dream as a kit as we all do but those are just kit dreams." I say "But you decided to go for it and move to Zootopia where predators and prey get along and sing Kumbaya. Yet you will discover that's not the and your dream of being a big city cop is just you being an average cop. So your dream will die and you'll march back home with your fuzzy little tail sticking out to become a carrot farmer."
"No, I'm not and I won't let this con artist tell me what I can or can't not do or be." I say "I will become a big city cop!"
"Just stating facts of how Zootopia is and how they will treat you." I say "I'm not a con artist but an artist and business owner. While you are a silly bunny."
"I'm not a silly bunny," I say
"That you are and when you open your eyes you'll see that and the sooner the better for you," I say
Nick leaves after that leaving me alone. We were walking around and I stopped in front of the wet clement. If he were cruel he would have made me step on it. I heard about the accident that happened here. Some mammals can drive so crazy. At least no one had life injuries. Still, how dare he treat me like that! I'm going to show them all!
Still, that hasn't happened and I haven't had the chance to prove myself. I have been on parking duty and making petty arrests. It has mostly been parking duty. Chief Bogo says that's because I arrested Duke Weaselton. It wasn't the proper way and chasing him could have caused serious damage. I suppose that's true and he would have stolen again anyway.
Looks like Duke got arrested again and I wonder what for. I heard that he's got a long rap sheet, nothing too serious. Been doing it since he was a younger teenager. Duke is in lock up and gives me a dirty look.
"It's flossy the copsy," Duke said
"Hello, Duke Weselton, what are you in for today?" I ask
I know he hates being called Weselton. It's from Frozen and I know he gets called that a lot. I can see the irritation in his eyes. Well, he calls me names. He doesn't like me because I arrested Duke. I made him a fool by arresting him in a giant doughnut.
"Wesealton and that's none of your business."
"He stole money from an armored truck and let an old goat lady get hit by it." Francine said, "You're lucky she lived Duke."
"Hey, I was doing a good deed returning her wallet," Duke said
"You do that on the sidewalk not the crossway and you don't return a wallet you stole," Francine said
Francine is a fellow officer and it was her birthday on my first day of being a police officer. She's nice and treats me like a fellow cop. So at least some see me as a police officer. I heard about that accident and I was surprised that she lived, for she's an old lady with fragile bones. Duke is right, he's lucky.
"Hey, I returned it," Duke said
"You're also lucky she's not charging you for your crime Duke." Francine said, "Maybe a serious sentence will make you stop these petty crimes."
That old lady should have pressed charges on him. Looks like he hasn't learned his lesson and that could have worked. Duke gives her a look. I guess he isn't bothered by the life he lives. Maybe someday he will and I walk over to my desk.
Duke is a hassle and I hope he learns his lesson soon. He should have a normal life, find this nice weasel lover, and settle down. I sat at my desk and I had to look up Nick Wilde and Katheryn Forester. They have no records which is surprising. Either have parking tickets, they're just lucky. Their business is in order and they pay their taxes. There's nothing on them and there has to be something. I will find it. Katheryn had a bad experience with an officer who is behind bars, Officer Stone. I heard about them and he's not well-liked among his former fellow officers. Makes sense dirty cops are horrible. I hear two officers walk over and I know it's Bridget and Cecelia. They're officers that like me. I close down what I'm doing.
"Hello," Bridget and Cecelia," I say
"Hello Officer Hopps," Bridget said
"Hello Miss Hopps," Cecelia said
Bridget and Cecelia have been in the force for so long and have done many wonderful things. I hope to do the same thing. Cecelia is the older one and has a lovely family. I have seen pictures of her husband and kits. Bridget is the same age as Clawhauser and lost her mother for a while after her alcoholism got in the way. She grew up in the foster system and was in the same group home as Clawhauser. His dad was a police officer who died on duty and his mom passed away due to cancer. His aunt took him after she heard the news. She was traveling the world and it took some time to get things in order. Either talk about their time in the group home. I don't ask for not every foster home is a good one. Those rabbits and hares don't have to worry about having many family members to take them in.
"So any interesting arrests today?" Bridget asked
My arrest of Duke Weaselton was the take of this precinct and it felt nice. Some thought it was good while others told me off. Saying that I have to stay in my lane.
"I arrested someone to tried to dine and dash along with assault," I say
I can never understand why someone would eat somewhere and not pay. What are they thinking about when they do that? This mammal could afford it, they just didn't want to pay for it. The food was good and fairly priced; they were just being a jerk. When they tried to leave the manager paid the price for he was the one who took the assault. The dine and dasher wasn't happy when I arrested him. Thinking a rabbit like me shouldn't be a police officer. At least they are going to pay for their crimes.
"Such foolishness to end up in jail," Cecelia said "and then it ends up on your record."
"Yeah and good arrest Judy," Bridget said
"It is and thank you," I say
Bridget and Cecelia leave, heading out on patrol. I should be heading out to patrol as well. Today I'm not on parking duty and will be on the lookout for petty crimes. Officer Redington a Crismon lemur. Her twin sister works in the crime lab and their family owns this five-star in the Rainforest District. I'll have to try it out sometime. We do have fancy restaurants in Bunnyburrow. Never went as a kit but have them on dates. Their parents aren't happy that they joined ZPD; they wanted them to run the restaurant. I feel bad for them because at least my parents respect my choice. Even when they don't like it. Their cousin and his wife took over the restaurant which they wanted. So it's a win for them. Once they're gone I pull up what I have been researching.
"There's got to be something I will get that conning fox," I whisper
There has to be a crime that he committed so I can arrest him and he's lucky I can't get him for plagiarism. Trying to prove that he copied Nelson will be too hard to prove. I wish I could have helped him with that. I hope that his art business works out despite Nick getting in the way.
"I will find something," I say
I have to be heading out to patrol now and I close everything. I shut my computer down and get down from my chair. I head away from my desk and head over to where Hasina is waiting for me. She's older than me by two years and has been on the force for four years. We're at the same height and around the same build. Her fur is primarily gray and has an orange crown hence their name. Her eyes are green and she wears the standard ZPD uniform. Her sister Harisoa looks the same and her eyes are lighter green. Her tail is long and I have always wondered what that felt like. It can act like a third paw.
"Hey, Judy ready for patrol," Hasina asked
"Let's go," I say
Hasina and I head out to where the police cars are parked. I like going in an actual police car more than the one I have for parking duty. We take the police car designed for smaller mammals like us. Hasina drives and I will soon. I'm a good driver and learned how to drive when I was a young teen. Since I grew up on a farm I got to learn early on. Which made other classmates jealous. We were ahead of them in terms of knowing how to drive. So we got our licenses before them. Hasina and I get in the police car and buckle up. Hasina starts the car and drives off.
Nothing exciting has happened and just been a regular day. The arrests have been normal and no one has caused too much trouble. There has been no Duke and he always causes trouble. It's nice not to have to worry about him. Hasina drives around waiting for another call. I hope that something interesting happens. A few moments later we get a call for hit and run. We're only a few blocks away. Hasina drives over to the scene. There's mammals about and there's a lot of anger. So we headed out of the police car.
"Please move out of the way the police are here." Hasina
"Good, he needs to pay!"
"Someone stopped him from leaving!"
I don't understand how a driver could leave after they hit someone? How could someone be that cruel? I remember one bad hit and run a young doe was hit and the driver drove off. It was bad and she died on the scene. The accident made the community furious. They demanded the driver's death for murdering the young girl. It took months to find her and it turned out to be Rosa Graystripe, a well-liked black stripped hare in the community. Of course, Bunnyburrow doesn't have the death sentence so she was sent to prison for life. We head over to the scene and see that he hit a mother and son. The mother is in worse shape for she protected her son. Just like a loving mother would. They're Genets and they're part of the cat family. They're a smaller type of cat. Two paramedics look over her. One of them is a ringtail lemur, whose name is Ianja Ringfurson. He's a kithood friend of Hasina and Harisoa. His partner is an arctic vixen. She's a young adult and has purple eyes like me. Yet they have dark blue to them. How could someone like her have unique eyes like that? She's shorter than Katheryn by a few inches. She has white fur with a bluish tone to it. She's working on the mother. She has an old-fashioned medical bag. Like they used to in the world wars. I see that she has a medal on the back. I believe it has to do something with medical so she saved lives. How did she join the military? How does anyone trust her?
"I wasn't going to leave, they're just trying to pin…"
"He's lying, we saw him trying to leave."
Mammals are pissed off with him. Yeah hit and runs are horrible but it feels like they're taking it mammality. He's an older coyote. He is wearing a gray suit with a blue tie. He does have a fancy car. I see blood where he hit them and there's a dent. He wasn't going too fast or they wouldn't be leaving.
"He's well known in Zootopia," Hasina said. "His father is a lawyer and is…a player."
That explains why mammals are so pissed off. He probably thinks he's above the law. I have heard about mammals like that. It has happened back at home as well. It was always annoying to see. No one is above the law.
"I see and let's figure this out," I say
First, we head over to the victims. The mother looks in bad shape but she's like she's going to live. I'm not bothered when it comes to something medical like that. I have never been afraid of blood and have seen a bone sticking out. Farming can be dangerous and I have seen a bad leg injury. Sure seeing bone sticking out sends chills down my spine but I don't panic. The vixen is setting her leg.
"Hello, Hasina and Judy," Ianja said
"Hello Ianja and how's the mother doing?" Hasina asked
"She's going to live. The car wasn't going that fast." Evie said
Yeah, that's good news or it would be a different picture right now. He must have hit them when he started his car. We're close to where a crosswalk is and I can imagine what happened. I saw cars do it lucky not someone getting hit. I take out my notepad and I'll still write it down. I get down to the kit level. He's alright but shaken up as anyone would.
"Can you tell us what happened?" I ask "My name is Officer Hopps."
"Kyle Brownfur and we were coming from batting practice. We were going to get some ice cream like always." Kyle said "We were crossing the street and we still had some time when he hit us. And we were almost to the sidewalk."
Yeah, that story is plausible. I have seen that happen before. I don't know why drivers can't wait for a few more seconds. I have cars drive past me as I walk. Never so close that they would have hit me. Just an annoyance to me. I look at crime and it does look like that as well, I write that down and baseball is popular in my family and Bunnyburrow. We have many kit leagues and teams. I enjoy watching baseball. It's one of the few sports that we could play. I enjoy watching my younger siblings play along with other younger family members.
"Thank you for the information that will help us out," I say
"You're brave boy," Hasina said
"What he said is true," Evie said "The injuries she has lined up with that."
"Yes, that's true." Ianja
That I wouldn't know about but I can believe his words. They have loaded her into the sketcher. She's been out of it so she would have a concession. I had one of those not fun. She looks up at us. I see a look of determination in her eyes.
"He hit us on purpose because he couldn't wait. He could have seriously hurt my son. Make him pay for his actions."
"We'll try," Hasina said
We know that money and power come into play. The likes of him he would find a way to out to pay for the crime he did. It happens a lot and shouldn't happen. They load the mother and son into the ambulance and leave a few minutes later. We head over to him and he doesn't look too happy to see us. We have gotten that before. They don't see us as worthy officer and even more so for me. It bugs the heck out of me and I won't let them see that. I will show them that I'm a great police officer.
"It's the meter maid, shouldn't you be on parking duty? Do you know how to pawdle something like this?"
"Officer Hopps and of course, I can "We investigate and if you're guilty you're coming with us. So what happened Mr.
"Patwig William,"
Of course, he said his last name first and it was full of pride. Like you're supposed to know who he is. I see it in his eyes and Hasina shakes her head. Others give him dirty looks. The last name Patwig sounds familiar. I think I heard about the cases that he won. For I wanted to hear about news like that.
"Well, William as know leaving the scene of a crime is illegal," I say
"I wasn't leaving they just want me to get into serious trouble because I'm well known," William said
He's so snobbish about it and has this look on his face. Like he thinks he's charming and I'm sure some would fall for that charm. Mammals like that are one of the worst you can meet. I have met a few bucks and Does like that. Bucks tried to charm me into the normal life of a rabbit and didn't work. So I wasn't popular. I have seen Does use their beauty and charms to get what they want.
"I have him on video!"
As much as technology can be annoying and destructive it can come pawly and good. The smirk on his face is gone replaced by dread. A tiger holds up his phone. Well, that will help us out. It's going to be over for poor William.
"We would like to see that video," Hasina said
The goat that has the video gladly shows it to us. It starts as he starts his car not waiting for them to finish crossing, It would have only taken a few more moments. He hits the and the mother protects her son. He tries to drive off but mammals won't let him. Alright, we have everything we need to know.
"Well look at that you were trying to leave," Hasina said
"So with that, you're under arrest Mr. Patwig," I say
"I have the best lawyers, you're going to regret this!"
He doesn't like that at all and his rights are said to him as he's arrested. The crowd loves it, cheers for us and boos at him. Hasina places pawcuffs on him and we're on our way to take him back to the precinct. He hates it all the way.
It has been a slow patrol and I hate when that happens. It feels like I can't make the world a better place. So Hasina and I are at a coffee shop. Enjoying some coffee and baked goods. Hasina got some iced tea and a cinnamon roll. While I got a mocha and chocolate jelly doughnut. A cliche but I have always enjoyed them.
"Hello, Hasina and Judy," Ianja said
We were going to meet up with Ianja and his articulate partner. They're on a break as well. Hasina and I wave over to them. It only takes them a few minutes to get their order. Ianja got a mocha and an apple Danish. While his articulate partner got hot chocolate with whipped cream and sprinkles also had a mint brownie. She places her order on the table and holds out her right paw.
"Hello Judy my name is Evie White and it's nice to meet you," Evie said
I look at her paw for a few moments before shaking it. The pawshake only lasts for a few moments and I sit back down. Evie takes her seat next to Ianja. I take a sip of my drink. Evie drinks her hot chocolate with such joy.
"So how did you become a paramedic?" I ask
"Since I was a young kit I loved medical things. I wanted to know everything about it for I wanted to save lives like my Mother did. When I was old enough I took classes. They saw I was natural with it. I joined the military to be a field medic. I was honorably discharged and then I became a paramedic." Evie said
So she was in the military and comes from a military family. Only Hopps during the world wars served in the military. They were young healthy men fit to serve. Some survived and others lives were changed forever. Because war is terrible. How could her family serve due to being foxes? How did she get an honorable discharge?
"That's nice Evie," I say
"It is Judy," Evie said
I take a bite of my doughnut not knowing what else to say. I have nothing to say to that. I drink more of my coffee. I wonder how Ianja works with her and trusts her not to be shifty. I would have to keep a close eye on her.
"So what made you want to be a police officer?" Evie asked
"Yes, that would be an interesting story," Ianja said
"Well, the basic story is I want to make the world a better place. Also, I didn't want to be a carrot farmer simply because I'm a rabbit." I say
"Yeah, I didn't want to be a professional chef because my parents are." Hasina said, "I do love to cook but for fun."
"Your food is to die for," Ianja said
"Thoughts like that are toxic and you should set out what your heart sets out to be." Evie said, "Even if you fail, at least you tried."
I take a sip of my coffee and I can't believe I agree with a fox. My parents would hate that if they heard it. Even at a young age, I thought that wasn't right. You should set out what you want to be and not be limited to something because you're a certain species.
"Yeah, and I look forward to trying your food." I say "It was back when I was in kindergarten and we were talking about what we wanted for our future careers. There were a lot of small-minded choices due to who they were. My teacher told me I would be a carrot farmer because rabbits are good at farming. I didn't want that and told me she wanted to be a firefighter but as armadillos don't pawdle pressure. Teaching us what is known and comfortable is the way to go. Then it was recess and one of my friends Bobby, a cougar got stuck high in a tree. Always could climb up but not down. He was stuck on an unstable branch and our teacher fainted when it snapped. So used a red laser to lead him down before he could got hurt. Even if could land on his feet. An officer told me I did a great job and that's what a great police officer was. Then I for sure I was going to become a police officer."
"That's a great story I loved watching cop shows and decided I would do that when I didn't want to be a professional chef and to have my parents' restaurant," Hasina said
"My family and I lives were saved so I wanted to return the favor." Ianja said "We have dealt with kid cats with injuries from tree falls. Somehow that drive still calls to them."
"Do they always land on their feet?" I ask
"It's a possibility and kits have an easier time with that," Evie said
I do love watching cop shows and my parents weren't thrilled about it when I was a kit. Makes sense he became a paramedic; many stories are like his. I'm glad he sets out to save more lives. So landing on their feet does have some merit. Makes sense a kit is smaller than an adult and would have an easier time getting on their feet. I eat more of my doughnut.
After my story, we make some small talk and I do look forward to Hasina cooking. It's the same for her sister. ZPD does gatherings that have food. Some are meetings while others are fundraisers. I'm looking forward to those. Depending on what I have to bring I can make some of my favorite desserts and meals. I can show what I can do. Then it happens we get a call. It feels like forever but only a few minutes have passed.
"Well duty calls and we should get going." Evie said, "It was a pleasure meeting you Judy."
"It sure was Evie." I say "Ready to head out Hasina.
"Ready and I'll see you tonight Ianja," Hasina said
"See you then," Ianja said
Ianja and Evie get up cleaning up their mess. Hasina and clean up our mess as well. We answer the call and it's about a fight in the Rain Forest District, between small mammals. We're the first officers to take the call and we take it. Hasina and I head back over to the police car. Driving off to the location.
It's not raining when we get to the restaurant. Of course, it happens to be the Hasina and Harisoa family restaurant called Baobab Grove. Hasina wasn't pleased with being professional about the call. I'm doing the arrest. You can tell it's a five-star restaurant. So fancy and my parents would think it's too fancy. I wouldn't mind coming here on a date. It looks worth the price. It has this nice rainforest feeling to it. Makes their restaurant feel like they're back in Madagascar. We hear some mammals argue and it's a heated one.
"Alright, the police are here please move so we can do our job," Hasina said
A small crowd has gathered around and of course they would. Hopefully, the fight isn't too bad. We heard nothing about it being serious but that could have changed before we got here. By the looks of it doesn't look like that's the case. The crowd breaks away and there are whispers. It mostly comes from the lemurs. I bet they know who Hasina is. She pays no attention to them and we pass the crowd. We see that a ringtail lemur was fighting with a fossa. The ringtail lemur looks older and the fossa around my age. The ringtail lemur is female and so is the fossa. I turn over to the fossa, she looks over at me with annoyance.
"Hey officers the Miss Number One Royal customer started it, not me."
"I'm glad it's your Hasina you know what happened."
"Loyalty doesn't mean you get to act entitled and bioted." Hasina said "It's always the same with you Auntie and she's a fantastic returning customer. I always enjoyed her returning much so than you."
I don't think the older lemur is her aunt by the tone of Hasina's voice. It's more of an honor title than being related. Her aunt has the look we just took something important to her. She wasn't expecting that remark. The fossa smiled and she wasn't either.
"Hasina after all I done for you."
"You didn't do anything for me and will she be banned?" Hasina asked
Hasina looks up to her cousin and his wife has come over. I can tell they're family they're alike. I can tell their cousin looks like them. They're a few years older than Hasina. I see the marks of a chef. Cuts and burns on them which happen in the kitchen I can tell they'll stand by Hasina's side. Their names are Jaona he's older by a few years. Niaina and she's older than Hasina by a year.
"What do you say?"
"Let her have her fake title what happened is good enough for me. Those I still want to charge her."
"Alright, she won't be banned to much work anyway. Officer Hopps, go do your job." Jaona said
I was called Officer Hopps and that feels great. I suppose her self-image is ruined or at least damaged. I don't know why she started the fight and while the fossa didn't. The ringtail lemur still has the look and I'm the one to do the arrest. At least she should be charged if she was the first one to strike first. She was just unlucky. So I take out pawcuffs and say her rights to her.
"I hope you stop by soon Officer Hopps," Niaina said
"I will," I say
I like the owners a lot and even I just met them. They remind me of Hasina and her sister. So they're good mammals. I hold the ringtail woman and she's not pleased. At least she's not resisting arrest.
"Your parents won't be happy with the way you treated me. Siding with a Fossa noho ny hehatra my zanak'anabavy kely. At least marina ny tenin'ny olona iray."
Wow, she's rude and reminds me of loyal customers who think they've owned something nice because of their loyalty. I hate dealing with those customers. No one Hasina doesn't like her. I don't know what she said totally. But I figured she didn't say something nice and niece since she's the aunt. The last part I have no idea. Their parents don't sound good either. We head back to the precinct one.
My shift is almost over and I'll be heading off soon. I have to run some errands before I go home. Before I head back to my desk. I saw a car that was parked in an expired meter. I saw that when we were coming back to the precinct. It's not too far from the precinct. It only takes ten minutes to get to the car. It's still there whoever parked there must be out in the town. Forgot about when they parked. They're not going to like it but they should plan it out better. The car is blue. The license plate is MFS743. Outside the car is clean but inside the car is a mess. Lots of random stuff and litter from food. A cup that has spilled something red all over. I would have to clean that up. There's this nice sweater and necklace on the ground. There's a rip in the middle seat. I shake my head how could a car be this messy? I would hate that. I give this messy car a ticket. I head back still trying to figure this Nick Wilde out there's a crime he has committed and he will pay.
Author note, I hope to not take forever between updates. Judy will take the case soon and that's when the story gets going. It's going to have a similar timeline as the movie. Of course, solving the case going to take longer than two days. But it won't take months. I was more realistic with Duke's short. Yeah, that goat wouldn't be just okay after getting hit by a car like that. Duke was lucky she lived. You saw Judy more willing to agree with prey and I'm going to do more with her bigotry with predators and foxes. Hence she's looking for something against Nick and still happens. Just not him being really stupid like not paying taxes. You see that Evie and the fossa. Of course, she won't do anything like a dirty cop would she's not that bad. Her bigotry plays a similar role like what happened in the movie in my story. Hasina and Harisoa are still based on Clover and Crimson from King Julien. While Ianja is still based on King Julien. I no longer care the show but I enjoy the characters I based on them. The Malagasy is for shame, little niece, someone is right. The license plate doesn't mean anything just a blind spelling for license plate.
