Chapter One:

Arrival In The City

-Days ago-

Cameras flashed, and people chattered excitedly, with an occasional cheer, as Saiko Bichitaru and her band signed autographs; The show had been a big success, and nothing could ruin the anime girl's night. Everyone loved them, and having so much attention was exciting, if not overwhelming. Saiko felt thrilled; signing autographs, and taking compliments.

She looked at Meggy, who was signing an autograph for a Toad. And just then, the beanie girl was approached by a red Inkling, who warbled in Inkish, asking for her autograph.

Watching this, Saiko smiled, remembering that the former squid girl was already famous after her Splatfest victory. And nobody forgot that day in Inkopolis; the roar of the crowd as the SplatSquad was declared the victor, Meggy receiving the Golden Squid, it was nothing like tonight though.

"Excuse me..."

Saiko looked down, seeing a blue Inkling boy and an orange Inkling girl looking at her with happy smiles. The blue Inkling stepped forward with stars in his eyes, and he held out a notepad while the orange girl did so.

No words had to be spoken, the Inklings wanted Saiko's autograph, and the anime girl was happy to do so. She grabbed her pen, and signed the first paper, giving it to the Inkling boy, and then she signed the next paper, giving it to the Inkling girl. The Inklings whooped, thanked Saiko, and they walked off.

And just seeing those two squids be happy to see Saiko, while Inklings weren't fond of anime, it seemed a good many of them like those two didn't mind the likes of Saiko.

Perhaps, a concert in Inkopolis at some point would be in order?

-Present day-

The large bus rolled through the streets as Inklings gathered around in an excited manner, Inkopolis Plaza was abuzz with squealing and whooping. The bus soon stopped, and the doors opened. Cameras exploded as Saiko emerged with her electric guitar in hand, she signed an autograph for an Octoling, and then she swiped the cords of her guitar.

An electric burst of musical sound resonated across the Plaza, and the Inklings went wild. Saiko stepped out, flashing the peace sign, and waving with a smile. Things were looking great so far; no anti-anime protests from the Inklings, everyone loved her!

It was worth it, from the moment Saiko caught wind that her band had been booked for a concert in Inkopolis, she did not even bat an eye. Her band was famous.

Plus, she could see her band's posters plastered on the walls coming into the city. And when the bus first rode into Inkopolis, Saiko could see so many excited Inklings, and there was no doubt that Meggy was looking forward to spending some time in her old hometown.

A green Inkling in a black shirt walked up to Saiko with a hopeful grin. "We might not be into anime, but you're perhaps the only anime girl we like." The Inkling said to the guitarist.

Jeeves, the band's manager, stepped out of the bus, followed suit by Shroomy and Whimpu, both of whom were swarmed by Inklings in seconds. Whimpu got a little nervous, but he smiled proudly, and patted a squid girl on the head. Shroomy took his time to show off his scout badges to the Inklings, then he and the simp joined Saiko just as Meggy exited the bus.

Once the former Inkling appeared, the crowd was even crazier, and Meggy found herself signing autographs for almost everyone in the plaza. As if her status as a Splatfest champion didn't make her famous, her being a part of Saiko's band made Meggy MORE famous.

"MARIO! HURRY UP WITH THE LUGGAGE!" Meggy then yelled.

Mario appeared, carrying a ton of luggage cases. Saiko and her band had packed a lot of things, making it nearly challenging for the fat Italian. Luckily, Jeeves stepped in to assist Mario, even as the crowds still swarmed the band excitedly.

More cameras flashed and news reporters arrived, with cameras rolling. Saiko saw the jumbotrons above, all showing her and the others in the plaza.

Without a doubt, Inkopolis' news outlets would be covering the band's Inkopolis Tour. The concert they would be holding in the city would be live too, shown on TV to those who couldn't attend in person.

Mario waved to the cameras, and his image on the jumbotron waved as well. "Mama mia, look at all of Mario's fans." The fat Italian quipped.

"Actually, they're our fans!" Shroomy said to him.

"Hey, Mario! Mario!" A pair of red Inklings called, "Can you do the Mario?"

Mario whooped. "Ayyyy." He said, "They want-a me to do-a the Mario."

"PUT YOUR BACK INTO IT, YOU MUSTACHED IDIOT!" Jeeves shouted, "I DON'T CARE IF YOU'RE FAMOUS JUST LIKE MEGGY AND THE REST OF THE BAND IN THIS CITY! WE HAVE A HOTEL RESERVATION, AND YOU ARE RESPONSIBLE FOR THE LUGGAGE!"

Mario waved sadly to his Inkling fans, and picked up the luggage bags that he was carrying. Saiko, Meggy, Whimpu, and Shroomy made their way through the crowd, with Jeeves and Mario following them. A pair of Toads in suits stepped forward to help control the crowd, even the Inkopolis Police were involved with security.

Just then, a long-haired yellow Inkling girl in a reporter suit stepped in with a microphone in hand with a gray-haired Inkling boy holding a camera.

"Live from Inkopolis Plaza, this is Inkopolis News correspondent Inkria Sun'Squid, live as Inkopolis welcomes the famous rock star Saiko Bichitaru and her band to our city." Inkria reported, "And it is a huge honor, especially seeing lucky human Splatfest champion Meggy Spletzer in our city again. But all eyes are on Saiko..."

She put the mike up in front of Saiko's face. "Saiko, you're a big deal in the Mushroom Kingdom..." The Inkling reporter said, "...and you received the Grammy after performing a new rendition of your first hit song 'Darkest Hour.' What is it like to be famous?"

"Well, Inkria..." Saiko said with an honest smile, "When somebody likes you, and you do something nice for them, it is worth it. For a time, being nice was hard, but after making so many friends, and starting this band, it's great to be at a point where people don't have to be scared of you. And nothing feels sweeter than being loved by so many folks out there.

"But when we first started the band, it was in response to injustice, to call out those who took advantage of their fame. And, since the world liked our first song, it wasn't hard to take things a step further and you can see where we are now. I'd like to thank all of those people out there for supporting us, and now, we're ready to rock the city!"

"There you have it, from the words of Saiko Bichitaru..." Inkria said into the camera, "We'll be covering the big concert this weekend, so stay tuned, everyone!"

Inkria's crew backed away, finally giving Saiko and her band the space they needed, as they walked through the Plaza, and climbed into the Inkopolis Taxi waiting for them, Mario and Jeeves loaded the luggage, and then, they were off while the crowd continued to buzz with excitement.
