Thank you all so much for taking the time to read my little project! Now I know how many people are actually reading, I realise I need to kick this into gear for real.

Guardian's Academia

Chapter Eleven : Running and Sightseeing

~Does it ever get easier?~ Morimitsu wrote before handing the book back. Tempest read his message "You mean killing?" the feline nodded. "For most, No" Tempest said before a haunted look came over her face "But if at any point you realise you no longer feel anything while killing... It's time to hang up your weapon"

The guardians sat in silence for a while, both unsure what to do or say after that. The silence was broken by Solasi buzzing into the room in a panic "Fallen! Elsie said there's Fallen incoming. We need to get everyone up and out of here, quickly!" she ordered. Both guardians looked at each other before grabbing their helmets and getting to work, Morimitsu rushed back into the barracks to get his two friends up whilst Tempest checked her weapons and ammo. Once her weapons were in place she turned back to the three who were moving towards her "What's going on?" Dabi demanded "Fallen incoming, a large enough group that Elsie wants us up and out asap. I'm not taking any chances fighting here, you two can't resurrect at all so we're running" Tempest commanded pointing at Dabi and Kanohi "The moment we get out that door you two run south, myself and Morimitsu will keep their attention on us until Elsie gets back. Clear?" "Not a chance in hell" Dabi argued "If he stays I stay, I made a promise and there ain't no way in hell I'm going back on my word"

Tempest stared at the burned dumbass, he had no idea how much danger he was in and still refused to back down. "Listen here" she started "You ha.." "There's no time for this! Get out of there and stay together, Don't worry about me. I can handle myself" Elsie yelled over the comms, the sound of her rifle firing could be heard in the background as she cut the argument short. "Damnit, fine. Make sure you get back Elsie" the God-slayer replied "As if these Fallen could kill me, I've faced far worse"

The line went silent as Elsie disconnected to focus on her fight. The two guardians looked at each other and nodded, then they opened the door and all four of them ran south. They ran as fast as they could, occasionally one of them would trip on a loose root and the group would slow down. Mori was able to see almost perfectly in the darkness and with his agility he was always first to get back to whoever fell. He was on high alert the whole time, he had seen a few shadows moving in the darkness between the trees and could hear them chattering quietly. 'We need to get out of here fast' he thought 'I know, I'll tell Tempest" Solasi responded "Tempest, don't react to what I'm about to say. We have fallen all around us tracking our movement, I don't know why they haven't attacked yet but they don't know that we know they are there" the ghost urgently informed the other guardian "Understood, we are ready for them. Stay on the back of the line and be ready to clear them out" a male voice replied.

'That must be Tempest's ghost' Mori thought. His train of thought was cut short though, as was his stride. He felt a tug on his shoulders and realised that his cloak had been grabbed by something, he was dragged backwards so quickly that he lost sight of his companions immediately. "Shit, We've been caught!" Solasi exclaimed as the feline was dragged through the trees kicking and grabbing at anything that would allow him to get back to his feet. He was dragged into a small clearing and lifted by his cloak until he couldn't touch the ground anymore, without hesitation he drew his knife and cut his cloak from his armour and dropped to the floor.

The feline jumped away from his attacker and spun around to look at them with his knife in hand, the fallen that had grabbed him was huge. It was easily eight feet tall, if not taller, and it held swords in it's two lower arms while it held Morimitsu's cloak up in it's left hand. It pointed at the guardian and growled something in it's own tongue, seconds later the empty clearing was surrounded with fallen, some with four arms but most only having two. They were all cheering and chanting something, but none came forward to attack or even pointed weapons at the feline. Solasi spoke to Mori quietly 'This is really bad, we need to find a way out quickly. Mori I hate to say this, but you may have to kill them to escape' the feline shuddered, but held his stance while waiting for something to happen. "So guardian" the massive Fallen said stalking forwards while it swung it's swords slowly"You are going to die here by my hand, you killed my brother after all. It's only natural I take your life as payment" it's voice was dripping with hatred. The guardian shivered and took a step back "Any last words? Dead thing" it spat as it stopped and took a stance, swapping it's blades into the upper hands.

Morimitsu looked at his opponent, the creature was ready to leap forward and impale him on those swords in a single strike. 'It shouldn't be all that fast, it's size will slow it down' the guardian thought to himself 'If I just dodge around I should be able to find a chance to knock it out or maybe just escape' before he could come up with a proper plan the Fallen launched at him with surprising speed. The guardian forced to blink away to avoid the first attack, the moment he landed the fallen spun around and charged again. It ran with it's legs and lower arms, allowing it to move with enough speed that Mori was unable to match without blinking away. But that put strain on his heart if he did it too much. The guardian ducked one swipe of a sword from the left, but immediately had to leap over another from the right as the Fallen turned the straight blade and made a reverse sweep to catch him. He avoided that but a fist crashed into his stomach as he was still midair, he was sent sprawling across the ground and only just managed to roll out the way of two swords stabbing into the ground where he had just been.

The Fallen roared at him and drew it's blades from the dirt before charging again and attacking with a flurry of swipes, the blades barely missing each attack as the feline was twisting and dodging around each swipe. The fallen was pressing the attack for too long and was getting slower with the constant attacks, Mori jumped a swipe and planted his feet on the blade. Using it as a platform to jump he flew at the Fallen and landed a kick to it's abdomen before launching himself away from it. The alien laughed at him "Is that all the great machine's chosen can manage?" it taunted. Morimitsu raised his right hand in front of himself and the Fallen looked at him with confusion, the guardian clicked his fingers and a blast of void light exploded from his opponent's chest plate sending the alien crashing onto it's back. He had planted a grenade there when he landed his kick, it wasn't powerful enough to kill the monster, but it gave him a chance to escape.

The guardian bolted as fast as his legs would allow him, straight at the wall of Fallen who were now screeching at him. A hand wrapped around the guardian's waist and he was lifted off the ground again. The Fallen had recovered faster than he thought it would, and now it was pissed. "You would dare to make such a cheap attack, and then run! And here I was giving you a chance at an honourable death" it said as it started to squeeze him, it wrapped all four hands around his torso and started to slowly crush him. He struggled and scratched at his captors hands, it brought him close so it could look at him face to face. Morimitsu gathered light inside his arms and condensed it as much as he dared to within his own body. 'Thanks for the idea Dabi' he thought as he reached out and hooked his claws into the right side of the Fallen's helmet. Then he released all the light he had gathered from his palms and sent it forwards. The armour on Mori's forearms and hands was melting slowly away in the torrent of light he released, so was his skin and muscle. But he clenched his teeth and bared the pain while the Fallen roared in pain, it's helmet had also been burned through and the wave of energy was eating away at it's face. The fallen threw Mori as far as it could manage as it screamed, the guardian was thrown above the low trees and sailed over a fair number of them before he came crashing down in the middle of the forest again. He had no control over his descent at all and crashed into a tree trunk headfirst.

The guardian woke up in the dark void once more, he sat up and looked around at his surroundings. Then flopped back down with a groan "Damnit" he growled. "Dead once again, and in the worst possible place this time" he sat in the void for a few minutes. He was starting to get worried, normally Solasi would've brought him back by now. Had she been caught be the Fallen? The feline could feel her light nearby, she was still alive at least. But the cold of darkness was almost suffocating compared to the light. Mori felt a second light appear with his ghost's and after a few seconds the light became blinding and he was back in the forest.

Tempest was stood over him protectively while Dabi and Kanohi helped him stand up. "No sleeping on the job kid" Dabi laughed as he dragged Mori to his feet. Kanohi hugged him as soon as he was standing, then she let go of him and punched his shoulder "Don't do that again" she said firmly. "Time to move, they found us" Tempest said as she fired her pistol into the trees, all four of them took off running again. This time arc rounds were snapping past them as they ran, most missed completely. But a few close calls made Dabi turn around and send a jet of flame at an unlucky dreg who happened to be in view. The group weaved through the trees as the sun broke over the horizon, light blinded them as they ran towards it. The fallen behind them stopped firing and slowed in their pursuit, the light blinding them. The four broke out of the treeline and all scrambled to a halt as they came to a cliff, at the bottom was a river. The waters were dark and flowed lazily downhill, it was a fairly wide river. Tempest looked at the water, then back to the trees, then she jumped. She splashed into the river, after a few seconds she surfaced and waved for the others to jump as well.

Dabi and Kanohi looked at each other and then jumped at the same time, hitting the water together they surfaced and the silver haired girl helped Dabi swim towards the other side. Morimitsu walked backwards toward the trees again, then sprinted as fast as he could towards the cliff edge. When he got to the edge he jumped and blinked as far as he could manage. He got about halfway over the river with his blink, his momentum carrying him most of the rest of the way. Two jumps in mid air allowed him to just barely reach the other side without touching the water.

The feline sprinted down the river bank to get to his team, they were pulling themselves from the water as he reached them. "Hey, would you look at that" Dabi started pointing at Morimitsu "The cat's scared of water!" the feline guardian punched him hard across the shoulder. The burned man laughed as he rubbed his shoulder "I deserve that" a wire rifle round slammed into the sand next to Kanohi's foot and melted a tiny patch of sand into glass. The four immediately bolted into the trees for cover.

The four heard nothing from Elsie as they walked, there was an eerie silence in the forest around them. It took four hours to reach the edge of the forest and finally reach an area safe enough to call for a ship to pick them up. They waited for half an hour as the craft made it's way towards their position, just as the ship appeared on the horizon a shadow moved in the trees and Tempest raised her sidearm towards it. "Who's there?" she yelled. The rest of the group was on high alert instantly, but all of them relaxed when Elsie stepped out of the trees. She looked fine, other than a few new holes burned through her poncho. Her rifle was slung over her back and she walked toward them and smiled. "Good to see you all made it out" she said happily. "Elsie!" three of them chorused as Morimitsu threw his hand up and waved excitedly.

Elsie waved back to the feline as she looked over the group, each of them seemed to have taken hits. But nobody died, and that's all that mattered in the end. The ship approached and Tempest hailed them as they flew down, the jumpship landed and the thrusters powered off as the door on the side slid open. A woman leaned out of the ship and called to the group. "Your ride's here! You comin or are we having a picnic before we go?" she swung herself back inside as the group walked towards her ship, they all boarded and the door slid shut. The ship roared back to life and took off towards the last city "Alright, any first time flyers today?" she called from the cockpit as she looked over her shoulder. Morimitsu, Kanohi and Dabi all raised their hands "Hah! I thought so, I've never seen any of you three around the tower. Must be a good day if we got three new Guardians in one day" she said with a laugh. "Actually, only he's a guardian" Kanohi said while pointing to Morimitsu. "Huh, so how did you two end up out here then?" before they could answer Elsie cut them off "That is unfortunately something we cannot actually tell you Amanda, not until the Vanguard knows about it" she said. "Guardian business then, fair enough"

The rest of the flight was spent in relative silence, the ship hummed around them and they were all tired from fighting and fell asleep one by one in their seats. By the time they reached the last city the sun was about to set again, Amanda called to everyone to wake them up. Then told them to look out the small windows on the side doors, the view was amazing and seeing the Traveller for the first time was quite something. The ship landed in the hanger and the doors slid open. A second ship followed them in closely and landed on the pad beside them, Tempest walked over to it as soon as she hopped off and opened the cargo hold to retrieve something. Morimitsu was amazed by everything he saw, so were Kanohi and Dabi. There were ships everywhere, some were being repainted, others had pieces removed so the internal systems could be repaired. The mechanics working on them were yelling to each other and laughing, some of them scurried around looking for parts while others talked to guardians about how they wanted something tuned. It was organised chaos and it was a bit overwhelming to the newcomers. Elsie and Tempest led the way out as Amanda had to check on everyone in the hanger, she bid them farewell and welcome to the tower before she turned and immediately yelled at a mechanic to get back to work.

The group walked through the tower, most people paid them no mind but a few looked at them with interest. A few guardians nodded to them as they walked past, they ran into a tall Titan who almost bowled Morimitsu over as he walked by. The intimidating man had knelt down and profusely apologised, the feline didn't know what to do until Solasi appeared and told the man it was okay. When he left she floated alongside her guardian "That was Orvil, He's one of the strongest and scariest looking Titans in the tower, but he's an absolute softie" she informed her guardian who nodded and continued following Tempest toward the Vanguard's command centre. As they entered the command centre a team of six guardians walked out and greeted Tempest as they walked by, then she called out to announce their presence.

"Ikora! I'm back!" the three Vanguards looked up at the newcomers "Welcome back Tempest, how did the mission go?" a dark skinned woman said, she wore a purple robe that had leather padding over the shoulders and a high collar, leather gloves, boots and pants completed the look. Next was an Exo like Elsie, he was covered from head to toe in worn leather armour and had a holster on his right thigh with a black and white hand cannon in it. His face-plate was white on the forehead, blue from the eyes down and had black on the chin. His eyes shone blue and an orange light could be seen coming from his mouth as he hummed to himself. Finally was the awoken man at the end of the long table. He stood straight with his hands behind his back, he was covered in thick plasteel armour with red markings on some of the plates. He was looking directly at Morimitsu with an eyebrow raised "Cayde, pay attention. We have a new guardian with us" he said. His deep voice getting the attention of everyone in the room.

Cayde immediately looked up and spotted Morimitsu for the first time "Hey, so we do! And judging by that light armour you must be a Hunter! Welcome to the tower kiddo!" he said joyfully while throwing a thumb up and winking at the group. "Actually, my guardian has shown the ability to be a Hunter, Warlock and a Titan. It may be impossible to class him" Solasi announced, all three vanguards looked at each other in shock and confusion. Then looked back to the feline who was now the centre of attention. "That, is not something I thought I'd ever hear" Zavala admitted "For now I'll leave it up to you which group you will join. But I would like to welcome you to the tower and the last city, we will have a room prepared for you and will inform the speaker of your arrival. He will be most excited to meet you" Solasi looked at her guardian before turning back to the commander "Thank you Commander, but we won't be staying there often. We already have a home, the tower will be somewhere we come to rest. Not live" Zavala nodded in understanding. "As for your two companions, they are not guardians and thus will live in the city. I will contact the governor to arrange a place for them to stay" he said, Dabi however wasn't going to let that slide "Hell no, wherever Morimitsu goes we go too. Whether it be to into the heart of battle or hell itself. We are his fireteam, we stick together through everything"

Zavala looked at him flatly "And how are you meant to deal with Fallen rushing you with blades, or the hive swarming to tear you apart. You have no weapon and no light. You'd be a liability" he finished. Elsie facepalmed "Zavala, have you forgotten what I told you about?" she said "Other-worlders don't need weapons, they Are weapons" she finished while she pointed to Dabi. The burned man raised a hand and it burst into azure flames that danced off his fingers. "Curious" Ikora said as she walked over to Dabi "How does it work? It doesn't feel like the light, but there are traces of solar light in the flames" she queried. Dabi looked at her and shrugged "I don't know the specifics of how my quirk works, I just know that the more I raise my body's temperature the more flames I can produce. But going above a certain threshold will end up burning myself" his answer left Ikora with more questions than answers. "But what I do know is that it's enough to turn a Fallen to ash and melt Vex to slag, so it works well enough for me" All three Vanguards froze as he said that. "You've fought the Vex" Zavala stated, all three of the newcomers nodded. "Any information you can give us on them would be most useful, and we would be happy to pay you for it" Dabi laughed "Forget payment, Take back what you said before and you get it free"

Zavala placed both his hands on the table and bowed his head "You have my sincerest apologies, I should not have made a judgement before understanding what you could do" Dabi walked over to him "No problem Commander, now. As for that information I owe you" he looked back to Solasi who floated over with a second ghost following her closely. "Solasi can give you everything she's found on the Vex, she's got far more accurate info than I could give you" the second ghost floated past Solasi and hovered around the pair who were talking, it's sky blue and orange shell spinning every so often as it watched Dabi closely.

The group stayed in the command centre discussing with Zavala for three quarters of an hour while they gave the commander all the information they could. At some point Elsie had disappeared since they no longer needed her there, Ikora made sure to ask all three of the newcomers to come to a training ground to showcase what they could do. Ikora really wanted to study quirks and how they interacted with the light, the possibilities were infinite and she was excited to see what the newcomers could do. All three agreed and Tempest agreed to come along and watch, once they had finished discussing with both Zavala and Ikora they made to leave and get food. But Cayde trotted up behind them and told them he was coming along and that he would pay for the food, his treat for the new guardian. Dabi had noticed the ghost hovering around him and decided to hang back and talk to it before he left, he caught up with the rest of the group after a few minutes with the ghost in tow. He offered no explanation when asked and the ghost was completely silent and hid whenever someone tried to talk to him. Morimitsu was left very confused with the behaviour and decided to ask Solasi about it later, for now the food placed before him smelled absolutely divine and he was starving. An entire day without food tends to do that to someone.

After a feast of ramen and a quick guide around the tower Cayde left them to rest, Tempest returned to her own room while the other three entered Morimitsu's new room. A pair of sleeping rolls had been left by the door for his two friends while he had a bed in a side room for himself. All three of them agreed that sleep was most important right now, getting home was tomorrow's problem.

Aizawa Residence. M.H.A. Universe. 35 Hours After Teleport

Shota was worried, sure Elsie was over there looking after the kids on the other side of the portal. But that didn't help ease his worry, not to mention there was a Disciple of the Witness on his home planet. And he had no idea how to track them down, even if he could it would take someone like All Might to take down a Disciple in a one-on-one fight. Finally there was his current headache, he was staring out his front door at a pair of teenagers. Both of whom were asking where his foster son had disappeared off to, this day was not going to be a good one.

"Alright, get in here. This is gonna take a while to explain" he said dragging a hand down his face. The two walked in and removed their shoes, leaving them by the door. Both of them walked into the lounge and sat down on a couch, Shota sat down opposite them. "Okay, for starters. Neither of them have been here on our world for about thirty five hours" both of them gasped and he held up a hand before they could ask questions. "Last I saw of them was in the Red Zone, they were teleported away via a Vex gate. One of my closest allies followed them to make sure they will be fine, she is one of the best fighters I've ever worked with and knows the world on the other side of the portals extremely well" he glared at the pair of them "Happy now?" he said. Both of them didn't seem happy with the situation, but they couldn't do much about it.

"Alright, with that out of the way. How are you both progressing with your quirks?" he flashed them a chilling grin and they both shivered. "I've been progressing well, I think I figured out what you were trying to tell me about in the infirmary!" Izuku said and the hero's smile grew "Damn you figured that out quick kid, well done. Now keep on working on it, you'll need to master it fast" he said before turning to Chikara. "And how about you?" the girl looked down "I still haven't progressed very much. I still get headaches from overuse and I'm struggling to increase the versatility of my quirk. Only being able to grab things makes creating new attacks very difficult" she said with a downcast look. Aizawa looked at her then stood up. "Kid, look at me" she looked up almost in tears. "You are both smart kids, Midoriya. Help her with some ideas after this, Kid. Grab my hand with your quirk" the girl obeyed and grabbed his hand. Black energy surrounding his hand, he let her hold his hand where it was for a few seconds. Then he activated his quirk for a split second before releasing it again. She gasped as her quirk deactivated and then reignited instantly. She was no longer holding Aizawa's hand, she was holding the air where his hand had been. The energy was floating in the air as she held the air particles with her quirk. The air weighed almost nothing, manoeuvring and reshaping it was easy and she was able to make it completely solid with her energy manipulating it.

"Well done, now go play around for a bit. I'll be back soon to make sure you haven't torn my backyard apart, again" Shota called over his shoulder as he walked to the kitchen to make himself a coffee. He left them be until he felt a buzz in his pocket, he pulled out his custom built Holo-communicator. It was Elsie calling him, he answered as he walked out to the backyard. "Hey there Shota, how goes the hunt?" Elsie asked him "Quite slowly, I can't find any traces of the Disciple. That means it can only be one of them though so we know the who" he replied "Well that's good I guess, how did the other kiddos react to the news?" "Exactly as you predicted, how are the three on your end?" Elsie gave a quick laugh, looking over her shoulder before turning back to reply "Well, your boy is going to need some therapy after he killed a living being for the first time. He's distracting himself for now, as for the other two, Kanohi has struck up a quick friendship with quite a few warlocks. They all wanted to run tests on her quirk and she was happy to oblige, they have been going at it for a few hours today and are having fun." Elsie then grinned "Dabi is working with Ikora and a very quiet ghost who won't talk to just anyone. They wanted to see how the light interacts with his fire, I think the ghost has chosen him. It's following him everywhere. And our little God-slayer has taken a liking to all of them, Morimitsu especially. Though that may be my fault"

Shota grinned, he needed no explanation there. He had gifted Elsie a kitten to keep her company on her journeys and Tempest had no doubt met the little fur ball while working with her. Morimitsu appeared on the holo-communicator beside Elsie and waved at Shota "Hey kiddo, how ya holding up?" the feline boy raised a hand and tilted it side to side. "Mori!" 'Oh, right. I almost forgot about those two' Shota thought to himself, then her turned the device towards the two fast approaching teenagers. "Say hi kiddos"

Thanks for reading!

The new ghost is a Starfire Shell with the Vanguard Flashfire shader. Haven't picked out a name for them yet. And they are very shy.
