Writers and Readers must unite to force this site to change. In the past, a writer received information on how many view/visitors we get to our stories. Over the last two months, we have received nothing. No information as to how many readers are reading our stories. So we write hard pouring our heart into our work and aren't even given information on if anyone is reading our stories. If you're a writer, you know how demoralizing this is. Seeing how many readers helps motivate us and they have taken that away.
We supply the products for free that this site uses to sell ads. The least they can do is provide us with reader information.
DO OTHER SITES PROVIDE READER INFORMATION?
Absolutely. This site used to but quit a couple of months ago and after over 50 support requests, we have heard nothing. If there is a problem they should have responded at least via X, but nothing.
DISRESPECTING WRITERS
It's apparent they don't care about its workers and that would be us writers whose work pays their salaries or they would fix the traffic stat problem. Why else would they not fix it? If there's a hardware or some other kind of issue, they could let people know via X, but still nothing.
WE MUST USE OUR POWER
We need to use our power and quit writing until they fix this problem. Every single day, writers need to do support requests demanding they fix the traffic stat problem and tell them you are going to quit writing. Tell them this is going to be a sitewide movement that will hurt them financially. If we quit writing, we can hurt their profits and then they will have to listen, but we need the help of our readers.
READERS URGENTLY NEED TO HELP WRITERS
Readers need to support the people who are writing their hearts out. Writers deserve to know if their stories are being read. There are more readers than writers, so we NEED your help. You read for free, you can at least help the writers of the stories you read to get reader information.
WE NEED READERS TO DEMAND THAT SUPPORT FIX THE TRAFFIC STAT PROBLEM AND TELL THEM YOU AREN'T READING UNTIL THEY FIX THIS PROBLEM FOR WRITERS. You need to do support requests every day until they are so buried with requests, they finally get it through their thick heads that they need to fix this problem or we will take their site down because writers aren't going to write and readers will join the strike by not reading.
If you want this site to survive, they need to treat writers better or we will go elsewhere. There is no shortage of sites that are available. The only advantage this site has is that it has a great sort capability and dedicated fandoms. That won't be enough to keep it up and running if it doesn't allow writers to at least see if their stories are being read.
We know of almost three dozen writers in the biggest fandoms who are thinking about leaving over this issue. This will hurt this site and threaten its future.
IMAGINE HOW A WRITER FEELS
Imagine a first time writer who nervously posts his or her or their first story—that rush of excitement mixed with the fear no one will read the story. The new writer looks to see if anyone is reading the story and sees NOTHING. No one is reading. Can you imagine how sad and upset the new writer feels? And it's because this site treats writers like trash by not fixing the traffic stat problem.
Imagine the long time writer who posts a chapter and sees that no one is reading the story. The writer figures out the site is having a problem that they don't care about fixing. Why write for a site who cares so little about your very basic need to know if anyone is reading your story?
TELL SUPPORT YOU AREN'T READING OR WRITING UNTIL THEY FIX THE TRAFFIC STAT PROBLEM
To the readers who don't like this approach we're using to try to force this site to change, what should we do? We've tried support requests. Can you put yourself into the shoes of the writer who writes for free and is entitled to basic reader information but due to the callous treatment by this site is deprived of this information? How would you feel?
