Descendants: An Unusual Family Ch. 01
NOTE: This would be a Disney Descendants AU that would take place in the realm of Wicked World after Season 2 and before Descendants 2. Not sure if I will include anything beyond that. Only time will tell.
Another day in Auradon, another day in Remedial Goodness 101.
Mal is currently drawing an unusual lizard, Evie is planning a new design, Jay and Carlos are fooling around, and Freddie is doing her best not to fall asleep.
"Jay, Carlos!" Fairy Godmother calls the two boys. "This is Remedial Goodness. Not Tourney practice. Settle down or I'll have to serve you detention."
Both boys settled down and went back to their work. Well, Carlos did. Jay got distracted by something behind Fairy Godmother.
Freddie looks up briefly and her eyes wide. Her mouth opens to say something, only to have the thief cover it with his hand.
Jay nudges Carlos. The De Vil looks at him and notices his fellow teammate nodding his head towards where their teacher is. The white-haired kid looks up and his mouth hangs open. He then tosses his pencil at Evie. The bluenette turns to him and his eyes are on her before darting to the front of the class. Facing in that direction, one of Evie's hands flies up to her mouth to prevent a sound from leaving it. Her free hand starts tapping Mal's. The Purplette goes to ask her best friend what she wants only to see her pointing in front of her.
Mal's head tilts. The Child of Maleficent looks past her Evie to see Jay and Carlos with similar expressions in their eyes while Freddie appears frightened. She then faces the front of the classroom and sees what was worrying her friends.
The words just left her lips. "Oh, God!"
FG looks up at her students and notices their stares. The woman goes to turn around but is stopped by Mal's voice.
"Mother!" the purplette practically shouts. "Fairy Godmother."
The woman turns back to her. "Yes, Mal?"
"I was just, um, curious. Why are we still taking this class? I mean, it makes sense for Freddie as she's still new and obviously has no idea how to be good yet," she gestures to the Facilier kid.
"Excuse me!?" Freddie scoffs.
"But if I recall, you passed the rest of us with an A."
"You passed a semester, Mal," the Headmistress looks at them with understanding. "You still need to finish off the rest of the year. After which, none of you will have to worry about this class again. Except for Freddie. She'll have to take summer classes to make up for only being here half a year."
"What!?" the voodoo girl stands up. "That's not fair!"
"I'm sorry, Freddie. But half a year here is only half the work. Many of your other classes can be forgiven as they have transferred over from Dragon Hall. But Remedial Goodness is only taught here."
The Facilier girl falls back into her seat with arms crossed. She then worriedly glances behind her teacher.
Fairy Godmother tilts her head at this and turns around. She assumed that the kids were seeing something out the window. But there's nothing there. The woman turns back to her students and finds Mal raising her hand.
"May I be excused?" the purplette asks. "I haven't been feeling well since this morning. I think I need to see the nurse."
"Of course. You should have said something earl—"
Mal was out the door as soon as permission was given.
.oOo.
Ben is on his way back from the castle where he had been spending his free period doing paperwork for the kingdom.
The Young King often wonders what the royals were thinking when they decided that sixteen is an appropriate age for someone to run Auradon.
As he nears the school, the boy stops and smiles at the sight of his girlfriend. However, he is soon confused as she is seemingly pushing something around the corner. Ben wasn't sure what it was as he could only make out something big and blue.
Ben approaches the corner and starts overhearing Mal talking.
"What are you doing here!?" the VK is scolding slightly above a whisper. "You that you can't keep doing this! It was one thing when you were little. But at this point? It's ridiculous! I'm surprised no one's seen you yet. Auradon can barely handle us villain kids. I don't want to think what they'd do once they find out—"
"Mal?" Ben calls out as he rounds the corner in time to see his girlfriend facing him.
"Ben!? I can explai…" she quickly turns around but is confused as nothing's there.
"Explain what, Mal?"
"Uh, that I'm ditching class," the VK turns back to him. "I just needed a break, you know? All that schoolwork, the long lectures," the girl starts walking along the side of the building, eyes darting around in search of something.
"I guess I can understand that," Ben nods as he follows her. "Sometimes, I just want a break from being a King," though, he notices his girlfriend's odd behavior. "But I could've sworn that you were talking to someone."
"Oh, it was just me. Talking to myself," she insisted before her boyfriend steps in front of her, halting the VK in her tracks.
"I know something's bothering you, Mal. Please tell me. I won't be mad," he pleads.
Looking into her boyfriend's sparkling eyes, Mal sighs. "It's hard to explain, Ben. But trust me when I say that its best that the King of Auradon doesn't get involved."
"When my girlfriend is in trouble, I'm already involved."
"Just drop it, Ben!" she shouts.
The King goes to say something, only to release a startled yelp as he finds himself lifted off the ground. "Hey!" he gets turned around and sees a very large lizard monster with a rectangular head, silvery blue skin and fiery red and yellow eyes looking at him.
Ben goes to scream but is stopped by Mal.
"Don't scream. If you do it'll only make things worse."
"How could this get worse? I'm about to be eaten by a dragon."
"He doesn't eat people," the fairy tells him. "He prefers fish."
The son of Beauty and the Beast turns his head towards her. "How do you know that?"
Instead of answering, Mal looks up at the monster. "Put him down! Ben's not a threat. He's my boyfriend." The creature tilts his head in recognition of something. "Yes! Friend. You know that word, Big Guy. Friend. Put our friend down."
The creature carefully lowers the King down before letting go but remains hunched over as Mal goes over to them and briefly makes sure her boyfriend is okay. The Fairy then walks up to it and gently pats the creature's snout. "Thank you, Big Guy. Now, get out of here before someone—" she is then cut off a bloodcurdling scream.
The couple turn around to find Audrey standing there as the monster shook its head in disorientation.
Mal takes out a needle before running up to the Daughter of Sleeping Beauty and pricks her in the finger. The princess then drops down as she enters dreamland.
"What have you done!?" Ben is instantly by his ex's side.
"I'll explain later," the Fairy tells him as she walks on by and up to the monster. "Go! Get out of here! Head for the Cove!"
At her orders, the creature climbs over the building and out of sight.
Soon, the voice of Fairy Godmother reaches them as the Headmistress, several teachers, and many students round the corner. "What's going on!?"
Ben looks up at Fairy Godmother and says, "Audrey was…"
"Ow," the Child of Aurora mumbles as she raises her head. "What happened?"
"You, uh…" the young King glances at his girlfriend and sees the plea in her eyes. "You fell… and hit your head."
Mal sighs. "Gave us quite the scare, Princess."
"Would that explain that weird dream I had? There was this, I don't know. A wingless dragon maybe."
"Oh, Dear. People often hallucinate when they black out," Fairy Godmother explains. "Even when it's for a moment. Now, why don't you head to the nurse's office to get checked out? After that, you can go to your dorm to rest. I'll excuse you for the day."
"Thank you, Fairy Godmother," the brunette holds her head as she walks away.
The Headmistress gives a soft smile at the retreating princess before turning to Mal and Ben. "Speaking of. You're supposed to be with the nurse yourself."
"You caught me!" Mal fakes her shock. "I snuck out of class so that I could surprise my boyfriend on his way back from the castle after doing his kingly duties."
Ben nods his head. "I… was definitely surprised."
"While I appreciate your honesty I will have to give you detention starting next week."
"I understand, Fairy Godmother. I've learned my lesson."
"I truly hope you did," was the Headmistress' last words before walking off as the students and rest of the school faculty dispersed.
Ben looks at his girlfriend and quietly scolds her. "You cursed Audrey!"
"Easy there, Benny-Boo. Your Beast side is showing," she teases. "It was only a temporary one."
"That doesn't matter," he holds out his hand. "Give me the needle!"
"Sure. But it makes no difference," Mal waves the needle. "It only had enough magic for a single use. See?" she pricks her own finger. "No curse."
Just then, the rest of the VK's walk up to them. "So, his royal highness finally met, Mal Jr?" Jay mocks.
Ben raised a brow at that. "Mal Jr?"
The Fairy snaps at the thief. "We're not calling him that!"
Evie giggles. "We have to call him something. It's not like you've named him."
"Time out!" Freddie steps between everyone. "Are talking about that giant thing that was lurking out the window?"
Mal's eyes start glowing. "He's not a thing!"
"M," the bluenette walks up to her. "Calm down. She doesn't know."
"Know what?" Ben asks. "Mal. Exactly what's going on?"
"I'll explain later," she, Carlos, Jay, and Evie start walking away. "Once we get to the Cove."
Ben and Freddie wearily glance at one another before reluctantly following the Core Four.
End
NOTE: I think I've come down with a sickness. Kaiju Madness. I literally cannot think of anything without it involving Giant Monsters.
NOTE 2: I'll update as often as I can. But I'm getting busy at work again. So, I really don't know how much time I will have for writing.
NOTE 3: This Godzilla's description is somewhat based off of an early artwork for Godzilla the series before they switched to the brown looking color scheme for him.
