Lulu's POV
"Lulu, you're blushing. Spill." Georgie Jones nudged me as we made our way to the lunch room, I fought the urge to blush. Georgie had been my best friend since grade school, there wasn't anything about me that she didn't know. I could care less about her older sister Maxie, because of her relationship with my adult brother Lucky. Maxie had ruined his marriage to Elizabeth, but that was another story. I hoped Maxie didn't plan on flirting with Johnny, I really liked him even though I'd known him less than a day.
"It's just... there's this guy. I just met him and...I am insanely attracted to him. It's not even just physical, he spoke to my soul. I know how cheesy it sounds but, it's true." I allowed, grabbing a lunch tray.
"The new guy? Diego has English with him! Aww Lulu's got a crush. It couldn't come at a better time, I know what happened with Logan really brought you down. It's good to see you smile again." Georgie noted that Lulu had a genuine smile, it warmed her heart.
"I just don't want to jinx anything. You know?" Lulu sighed, willing herself not to get ahead of herself.
"You won't." Georgie assured her.
"I even gave him my number." I said quietly to Georgie, as Brooklyn and Maxie were now behind us.
"You might be friendly with him now but, you might as well give up. I'll have Johnny wrapped around my finger in no time." Brooklyn smirked, Lulu wanted to wipe that annoying smirk from her face.
"Ha, I seriously doubt that. Johnny doesn't sell crack, and I doubt he wants Syphilis." Diego Alcazar quipped, cutting in front of Maxie to get in line with Georgie and I.
"That was smooth, I like your style." I high fives Diego, I'd known Diego just as long as I'd known Georgie. The two were polar opposites but, somehow their dynamic worked.
"That's why you're my bestie." Diego returned her high five with a smirk.
"I hate to interrupt but, I am my sister's only bestie." Ethan shamelessly cut in front of Brooklyn, pulling Johnny with him.
"Oh God, Ethan's driven you crazy. I'm so sorry." I winced, to which Johnny only chuckled.
"Your brothers not half bad." Johnny maintained the same smirk he had in homeroom.
"Sis, you know everyone wants a piece of me." Ethan gestures to the air around him.
"Maybe you should tell Maxie that?" I suggested, earning a dirty look from Georgie's sister.
"Ew, why would I do that to myself? I don't even understand how Lucky did that to himself, Elizabeth is smoking hot." It was no secret that Ethan had always had a crush on Elizabeth. It was painfully obvious.
"You really have a thing for older women. Huh?" Lulu asked, she'd never given much thought to Ethan's crush on Elizabeth or Lucky's escapades with Maxie. She didn't need to know the details.
"Yes, unfortunately." Ethan nodded as they all filed into the lunch room after getting their food.
"This is where we separate." Georgie frowned, I knew better than to sit with my best friend at lunch. I didn't want to be the dark cloud looming over Malibu Barbie.
"It's okay G, it's not like we do this everyday or anything." I playfully nudged her shoulder.
"I know I just...feel horrible." Georgie sighed.
"Georgie, it's just how high school is. We'll see Lulu again." Diego slung his arm around her, throwing Lulu a wink as he led her away. Lulu mouthed "Thank You" to Diego as he led Georgie away.
"Well, duty calls!" Ethan announced.
"What duty? You don't work." Lulu raises a brow.
"Flirting with broads, what else?" Ethan threw his sister a smirk, sauntering towards a tall brunette.
"And then there were two." Lulu smirked.
"You don't fit in either. Do you?" Johnny chuckled, noting that Lulu didn't sit with her friends or her brother. As they sat down at an empty circular table, Lulu answered his question.
"Was it that obvious? Who am I kidding...of course it was. I've never really fit in, I'm not even sure I fit in with my own family. It's not like my parents are horrible or anything, it's quite the opposite. It's just that I'm different and dark inside, which isn't something I should tell a stranger. I shouldn't be putting out all this doom and gloom. My bad." Lulu realized halfway through her speech that he probably didn't want to know all of that. After all, they had just met.
"It's okay, go ahead. You're not boring me. If anything I understand, I don't feel like I fit in with my family either. I didn't know there were other people out there who felt the same way." Johnny was surprised at Lulu's admission.
"Ethan tries to smooth things over and chill everyone out but, I know that I'm the troublemaker of the family. I know that I am a constant disappointment whenever I do one thing wrong. It's not that they're bad people, it's just that I'm too much. I have too many opinions, I never shut up, I'm never what anyone suspects. I know what my family thinks of me, they don't have to say it. Some days Ethan's the only one who talks to me, I pretty much just shut myself in my room. I used to try and socialize but..
It's wasted." Lulu really felt like she could trust Johnny, this was something she would only tell Diego. Yes, Georgie was her best friend but...Georgie would try to talk her out of her feelings. Diego understood better because of his upbringing.
"I definitely understand that." Johnny nodded, listening to her speak.
"I don't think anyone has ever just let me talk...thank you for that." Lulu smiled, she didn't know it but it warmed Johnny's heart.
"I know what it feels like not to be heard, people like us are the black sheep. I've always been a listener, I've always sort of been quiet unless you catch my attention...which you have." Johnny slowly smirked.
"Well, I hate to say it but...you've caught my attention to, maybe more than I would have liked but...life is unexpected." Lulu gave a simple shoulder shrug.
Georgie's POV
I peered over at the table where Johnny and Lulu were sitting, seeing them smiling and talking.
"I can't believe you're friends with that loser." Scarlett Giambetti wrinkled her nose in distaste.
"Hey, watch your mouth. Lulu's my best friend, she's actually really fun to be around if anyone would give her half the chance." I fired back, Scarlett was such a a brat.
"Georgie, let's cut out of here. Scarlett's stink is rubbing off." Diego stood behind me, fanning the air.
"Nobody likes you either." Scarlett mutters, spraying some perfume.
"That's the way I like it." Diego smirked as I dumped my trey in the trashcan and we walked out of the cafeteria.
"It looks like we had the same idea." Diego points over to Johnny and Lulu, who were talking by her locker.
