Gift Exchange

The Wassailia candle was lit, and it was time to exchange presents. Sofia smiled happily as she made her way to the Wassailia tree with the rest of her family. There were so many brightly colored gifts under it, just as there always were. She watched as her siblings exchanged their gifts. Amber squealed in delight when she saw what her twin had given her, throwing her arms around him and hugging him tightly, much to his amusement. Miranda gave Baileywick his gift, and the steward seemed quite pleased with the new pair of shoes he found in the box.

"Sofia."

The princess turned and smiled at her father, who stood beside her holding small box wrapped in lavender paper with a gold ribbon tied around it. "Hi, Dad!"

Roland chuckled. "I have something for you." He handed her the gift.

She beamed as she took it. "Oh! I have something for you too." She bent down and picked up a gift wrapped in blue fabric. "I hope you like it," she said, passing it to him.

"I'm sure I will." He smiled as he took the gift. "Let's go sit down." he suggested, gesturing toward a sofa. He led his daughter to it and sat down, smiling when she sat next to him. "Now let's see…" He undid the wrapping to reveal a deep blue and gold scarf. He lifted it in his hands, feeling the softness of the yarn used to make it. "Did you make this?"

She smiled shyly and nodded.

"I love it!" he proclaimed, wrapping the scarf around his neck. "I'll never leave the castle without it while it's cold."

Sofia laughed. "I'm happy to hear it." She looked at her own gift and tugged the ribbon loose before carefully pulling the paper away from the box. Lifting the lid, she gasped softly. "Wow…" Inside, on a bed of velvet, was a silver bracelet with various charms. She took it out, setting the box aside, and held it up to examine the charms. They seemed to be shaped like all her favorite things. There was a bunny, a flying horse, a magic wand, a tiara, a shield, a ballet slipper, a flower, and a few other things. "It's ah–mazing, Dad!" She gave her father a bright smile as she slipped the bracelet on. "Thank you so much."

"You're welcome, Sofia. And thank you for my scarf." He wrapped an arm around her, hugging her from the side and kissing her forehead. "Happy Wassailia."

"Happy Wassailia Dad."

They soon rejoined the rest of the family to exchange more gifts. The evening was filled with laughter and presents. It was a very happy Wassailia for the royal family.

A/N: I just felt like we needed a Roland and Sofia story.
