"Now, SpongeBob, close yer eyes. I've got a surprise for ya when we get to the door."

"Ooh, really?" He complied.

"We're almost at the door, me boy... Keep yer eyes closed 'til I'm inside. Now stay still!"

"Okay, Mr. Krabs!"

He heard the skittering of his boss's legs as he went inside the building...

Then the click of a lock.

"You can open yer eyes now, me boy!" Krabs's voice rang from a loudspeaker that conveniently came out of the Krusty Krab's side.

"Okay, Mr.—"

His eyes shrank into pinprick dots at the sight of an obscenely large lock on the door. "Huh?"

"I lied! Of course I don't want ya back!" Krabs trumpeted. "After all, ya ran out of chances a long time ago!"

"Ran out a... Long time ago...?" SpongeBob stammered.

"This place is better off without you, anyway! Squidward! Take him away!"

"Okay, Mr. Krabs, I will..."

The sponge stood there, a look of defeated shock plastered across his face.

Did he really mess up that bad?

"Oh, and before I forget! I told all of the other businesses in Bikini Bottom not to hire ya! Good luck findin' a way to get money now!"

The crustacean could be heard laughing from behind the loudspeaker.

That laugh seemed mocking to him now.

He closed his eyes tight, starting to tremble as the feelings came over him.

Stress. Despair. Anger.

Anger won out as he opened his mouth.

"You know what?! Fine! I didn't need to work here anymore anyway!"

"Okay, Spongebob, time to go home," Squidward said, coming towards him.

"And I don't care if nobody wants to hire me!" the sponge continued as his former coworker began to drag him away. "Because I'm gonna make it big! You'll see! I'll have my own successful business and everything!"

The conclusion of his rant could be heard from almost miles and miles away.

"And when you realize your mistake and come crawling back to me, I expect you to do as I say instead of the other way around!"
