A/N: Officially back from the dead. I'll write from the 1982 adaption since that is everyone's favorite. Hopefully, I will be able to finish this story and add some elements to it.
Disclaimer: I DO NOT own the Annie franchise.
Hudson St. Home for Girls was a strange place. It was a dumpster fire for sure and no child would be pleased to lose their parents and end up in a place like this and in the time of the Great Depression for that matter. Almost all the orphans in the facility pretty much gave up on hope and intended to get over their pathetic lives, their Hard Knock Lives to be precise.
One of the orphans was a girl sleeping on the bed. She has long brown hair and her clothes are colorful like Annie's, unlike the other orphans.
She rose from her bed and moaned, "Ugh. I need to take a piss so bad."
God did she hate it when this frequently happened. Almost every time she goes to the bathroom, she gets caught easily by their bitch of a matron Miss Hannigan, punishing her by either whipping her or throwing her down the basement in the dark. It was damn scary for a soon-to-be 10-year-old girl like her.
She stumbled off her bed and exited out of her and her friends' bedroom. The hallway was so dark making her shiver in fear.
"G-G-G-G-God!" She stammered. "W-W-Why d-d-does it ha-ha-ha-havve to be so… dark."
She eventually reached the bathroom entered a toilet and locked it behind her. After she finished her business, she heard a door noise.
"O-Oh, Could it… be?" She asked in a low tone.
Then there was a door crash and someone walked inside scaring her even more. With every step noise, she grew more anxious and waited in her toilet room. Then it was complete silence.
She walked out of the toilet to find no one else there. She sighed and relief and just decided to wash her hands and go back to bed. But when a hand tapped her shoulder she screamed.
But then the hand quickly reached her back rubbing it gently and it was revealed that it was Annie who was now hugging he
"Annie…" Carol moaned.
"Shhh, it's okay Carol, Annie's here." Annie smoothed.
"Oh, how I'm glad to see you." Carol sighed as she and Annie broke the embrace to face each other.
"I take it you thought I was Miss Hannigan." Annie guessed.
"Nope" Carol answered as she looked down sadly. "At some times, this place give me memories of my childhood."
Annie responded, "At least you didn't live here your whole life."
"True." Carol responded.
Annie looked at her sympathetically and asked, "Do you want me to sing Maybe to bring you back to sleep.
Carol slowly nodded.
The two went back to their bedroom to sleep. Out of all the orphans, Carol loved Annie like she was her sister, she would be there for her for anything. They went to Carol's and Annie tucked her in. Annie kissed Carol on her forehead Carol grinned as her eyes closed. Annie climbed to the window.
Annie looked outside the city, always wondering where her parents were and if they were closer than she thought. But she knew one thing, they would come back for their baby.
Annie sang the lyrics,
Maybe far away
Or maybe real nearby
He may be pouring her coffee
She may be straightening his tie!
Maybe in a house
All hidden by a hill
She's sitting playing piano
He's sitting paying a bill!
Betcha they're young
Betcha they're smart
Bet they collect things
Like ashtrays, and art!
Betcha they're good
Why shouldn't they be?
Their one mistake
Was giving up me!
So maybe now it's time
And maybe when I wake
They'll be there calling me baby
Maybe
Carol then heard a moaning voice that was coming from Molly.
It appeared to be that Molly was having another nightmare. It would bother Pepper all the time. "Annie." She called. Her eyes opened as she continued to yell for Annie.
Carol murmured, "Don't worry, Molly, Annie's coming for ya."
Molly whimpered, "Annie! This dream was worse than the last one."
Annie approached the six-year-old and hugged her. "It's okay. Everything's gonna be all right." She stroked her hair and kissed her cheek. "It was only a dream, Molly. It's alright."
"How's a girl supposed to get any sleep?" Pepper complained.
"Shut up, Pepper!" Carol yelled.
"No, you shut up." Pepper demanded angrily. "You long-haired whore."
Carol gasped and glared at her with anger, "You take that back, bitch!"
Pepper challenged, "Make me!"
Annie groaned, "Oh God! Why now?!"
Molly requested unhappily, "Please stop fighting?"
Pepper smirking declared, "Nope. If the twink wants a funeral she gets one." She got up stepping on Duffy, July, and Tessie's beds.
Duffy grimaced, "Ow!"
July screamed, "Oof!"
Tessie groaned, "Why?"
Pepper proceeded, "This fight can even make Molly wet herself."
Molly glared at Pepper, "I do not!" She was the one always to be teased by Pepper since the days she arrived here.
Duffy retorted, "You're the one who shouldn't be in here!" She grabbed a pillow and attacked her along with July on Kate's.
July spat, "Eat pillow, you piece of shit!"
Kate snapped chanting, "Brats stop! Brats stop!"
July encouraged, "Go Duffy, Go!"
Tessie panicked as always, "Oh my goodness! Oh my goodness!"
Carol then dived into Kate's bed and started fighting all of them, "You pieces of shit stop! Miss Hannigan's coming."
Annie deadpanned, "As if you weren't involved in this."
Carol shrugged off Annie's comment and walked away but then she heard noises.
Pepper intended on jumping on Carol but missed and ended up crashing into the wall, making everyone in the room laugh. Pepper was shocked, "How?"
Carol smirked and replied, "Always gotta be on guard."
Pepper asked, "Huh?"
Annie was behind her and kicked her to the ground and placed her leg on her. "Should've started this fight, eh, Pepper."
Pepper on the ground was coughing, "Someone get this bitch off of me." She ordered.
Annie scowled, "Only if you go to bed without making a single sound."
Carol demanded, "And that goes for the rest of you."
Pepper sighed, "Okay fine, now release me."
With a triumphant smirk, Annie let her go. She remarked, "Ya know, with all that noise, I'm surprised Miss Hannigan hasn't been woken from her slumber."
Carol suggested, "Maybe she's black-out drunk again."
Annie shook her head, "Oh that poor woman." She took Molly and they went to Carol's bed.
Carol comforted, "It's fine now Molly, the fights over."
Annie added, "Think about your folks, sweetie."
Molly replied with sorrow, "You're the only one here who has folks. Mine are dead."
Carol mentioned, "So are mine but it doesn't mean you should give up hope."
Annie urged, "Think about the folks who want to adopt you because they want a little girl with brown hair and brown eyes."
Molly looked up at her with her eyes that read 'hope', "Really?"
Carol confessed, "I got to be honest, Molly's hair looks black in the dark."
Molly touched her hair, "Does it?"
Annie rolled her eyes, "Ignore her!"
Annie continued to sing,
Betcha he reads
Betcha she sews
Maybe she's made me
A closet of clothes!
In the middle of the first verse, Carol gets up and joins them in a trio of a half hug.
Maybe they're strict
As straight as a line
don't really care
As long as they're mine!
Tessie commented, "Oh my goodness."
So maybe now this prayer's
The last one of it's kind
Won't you please come get your baby-"
Unfortunately, Annie's comforting song was interrupted by a certain uncared caretaker. The shadow of Miss Hannigan could be seen from the door.
Carol whispered, "Oh shit…"
Annie commanded silently, "Everyone in beds covered with eyes closed."
The orphans in the room complied, they obviously didn't want to take Miss Hannigan's wrath.
The lady herself made her entrance in the girls' room turning on the lights to face the children. "Did I hear singing in here?" She asked.
Carol glared at the sound of that voice.
Miss Hannigan walked towards the girls' beds. She smirked as she knew they were awake. "Wow, they must take me as an idiot." She snarked.
Tessie got up and replied, "That's because you are one."
The orphans groaned as Carol got up and hissed, "Tessie, you moron."
Tessie frowned, "I'm sorry…"
Agatha said smugly, "Since you're all so wide awake, you can get your asses dressed and clean the entire building."
"Ugh, why?" Carol whined.
"Because I'll whip you into Mush Monday." Agatha grunted.
Annie commented, "You do realize something right."
Agatha glanced at her and glared at her, "And what is that, Annie?!"
"THAT WE'RE IN THE MIDDLE OF THE FUCKIN' NIGHT!" Carol snapped.
The other orphans gasped in shock at Carol's high volume and use of language… except for Annie, who just had that wild smirk on her face claiming that she taught her that.
Agatha growled hard at Carol and grabbed her roughly, "Are you asking for a death wish, you cocking cretin."
"Yeah, I mean how about to give here right now!" Carol said confidently.
For real though, she was half-scared of what Miss Hannigan was gonna do to her. She was an alcoholic after all.
Agatha squeezed her hard, "I deal with your snarky tits, later and if this floor don't shine like the top of the Chrysler Building, CAROL!" She roared. "I will raise your punishment to the ultimate extreme."
Carol gulped as she knew Miss Hannigan used her worst punishing methods on her for some odd reason, she'd forgotten why she thought snapping angrily at her was a bad idea. replied sheepishly, "Okay, okay, there's no need for that!"
Agatha turned to the other orphans with a cunning look, "Well…"
The orphans replied reluctantly, "Yes, Miss Hannigan."
Agatha spun her gaze back to Carol, "And what do you say, Caroline."
Carol with a feigned beaming expression responded, "I love you, Miss Hannigan."
Agatha remarked, "Why any kid would wanna be an orphan is beyond me?"
Pepper whispered to Duffy, "To hell with adults."
Duffy nodded in agreement.
Annie went into Carol's sight and motioned to stomp on Miss Hannigan's foot.
Carol jumped off Miss Hannigan's grasp and complied with Agatha's screaming. She had also stolen some of Miss Hannigan's money.
Agatha screamed, "Fuck, fuck, oh fuck, why?!" She then checked her pockets to find any money. "OH! GODDAMN IT! WHO TOOK MY MONEY!
The orphans ran along laughing and all sang It's a Hard Knock Life.
It's the hard-knock life for us!
It's the hard-knock life for us!
'Steada treated
We get tricked!
'Steada kisses
We get kicked!
It's the hard-knock life!
"True that." Carol grumbled.
Got no folks to speak of, so
It's the hard-knock row we how!
Cotton blankets
'Steada of wool!
Empty bellies
'Steada of full!
It's the hard-knock life!
Annie shrugged, "We can't deny it."
Don't if feel like the wind is always howln'?
Don't it seem like there's never any light!
Once a day, don't you wanna throw the towel in?
It's easier than puttin' up a fight
No one's there when your dreams at night get creepy!
No one cares if you grow or if you shrink!
No one dries when your eyes get wet an' weepy!
From the cryin' you would think this place's a sink!
Ohhhhhhhhhh!
Carol dropped her water from the bucket on the floor. "Oh fuck." She said.
Empty belly life!
Rotten smelly life!
Full of sorrow life!
No tomorrow life!
"Life's a bitch." Carol snarked.
"That quote wasn't used at this time." Tessie uttered.
"It was used after 1940 in the writer's time." Carol explained.
Santa Claus, we never see
Santa Claus, what's that who's he?
No one cares for you a smidge
When you're in an orphanage!
It's the hard-knock life!
"Fuck this life!" Duffy scowled. "And fuck 'em."
The orphans walked upstairs however Kate found herself attempting to sleep on the staircase.
Molly approached her and demanded, "You'll stay up 'til this dump shines like the top of the Chrysler building." She began to portray as Miss Hannigan.
Kate complained, "Come on, Molly, I'm sick of this, you're sick of this, we're all-"
Molly gave her an intimidating glare that prompted Kate to stand up and quickly follow the others. She went in one of the rooms and shouted, "Kill, Kill."
Yank the whiskers from her chin
"Little pig droppings." Molly mumbled.
"Piggies." Carol and Tessie beamed.
Jab her with a safety Pin
"Rotten orphans." Molly complained.
"Rot the rot." Pepper smirked.
Make her drink a mickey finn
"Nobody loves you." Molly growled.
"Fuck you." Carol snapped.
I love you, Miss Hannigan
"Get to work!" Molly commanded as all the orphans shivered. "Strip that bed! Scrub that floor!"
The orphans were throwing pillows at each other for some reason.
"Polish my shoes and I mean… Start now!" Molly snapped.
Carol turned to Pepper and said, "Got to admit, she has a decent impression of Aggie."
Pepper shrugged, "True…" She then smirked. "But she's still a baby."
Pepper and Kate grabbed the laundry roller with Molly attached to it and the orphans prepared to throw their laundry in with Annie ready to dive in it.
It's the hard-knock life for us
It's the hard-knock life for us
No one cares for you a smidge
When you're in an orphanage
It's the hard-knock life
It's the hard-knock life
It's! the! Hard! Knock! Liiiiiiiiiiife!
Pepper, Kate, Duffy, Carol, July, Tessie, and Molly were covering Annie in the basket full of whites.
Tessie noticed that all of the other orphans ran, "Hey where'd the others go."
Carol grinned evilly, "It's like they just teleported."
Pepper rolled her eyes, "Ah, who cares. We got our chores done, now we can just relax."
Duffy agreed, "Right."
"Splendid, I'll be out of here in no time." Annie smiled under the clothes.
"All you ever do is run away." Kate told her.
"I need to find my parents, Kate." Annie replied.
"I think your forgetting something… THEY'RE DEAD!" Pepper shrieked.
Tessie panicked, "Oh my goodness! Oh my goodness!" She was worried for Annie's safety.
Some of the 7 rolled their eyes as Carol sighed, "Control yourself, Tess."
Molly was crying again as Kate theorized, "She'll put her in the celler."
Duffy added, "She'll get whipped again."
July said annoyed, "She's gonna get us in trouble."
Carol shrugged, "I rather be there than being buried in dirt."
The orphans looked at her in shock to which she replied, "Yes that actually happened."
"Molly, shut up." Annie scowled.
"Annie!" Carol scolded as she put a hand on Molly in comfort.
"She's gonna blow my cover!" Annie snapped.
"I'm gonna tell." Pepper teased.
"And I'm gonna rearrange your teeth!" Annie threatened angrily.
"Snitches get stitches, Pepper." Carol reminded her.
Agatha spotted them and blew her whistle to receive their attention.
"Stomp on her foot." Annie whispered.
"I know," Carol responded. "It irritates her half-to-death." She informed.
"What are you all just standing around here for?" The Child abuser glared. "You're supposed to clean the bathroom and kitchen before lunch, my little pig droppings."
"But we finished our part!" Carol argued.
Agatha smirked, "Oh and I forgot," She grabbed Carol to her, "You're coming with me."
Carol gulped as the others looked on worry for her full aware of why she swore to Aggie.
Agatha muttered to the others, "If you girls skip the corners there will be no mush and we're not even having hot mush."
All the orphans cheered, "YAY!"
Carol sighed, "Well, what a projected relief." But then again, this could be too good to be true.
Agatha corrected, "We're having cold mush."
The orphans complained disappointedly, "Aww!/Yuck!"
Carol snapped, "That's it! I'm cooking from now on."
Molly pointed out, "But you don't know how to cook yet, Carol."
Agatha snorted, "The pussy has a big point, you dumbass."
Carol glared at her, "I'll learn how to so I can make better recipes than you've ever achieved anything in your entire life." Agatha's fingernails were crushing her, making her wince in pain.
The girls replied sadly, "We love you, Miss Hannigan."
Agatha realized something or someone was missing, "Where the hell's, Annie?"
"She had to go bathroom." Molly answered.
Agatha imitated her voice mockingly, "She had to go bathroom."
Carol snorted in her laugh as Molly glared at her. She looked sheepish, "I'm sorry, I'm sorry, I'm sorry." She began to chortle along as all the other orphans - except Molly who ran to her room in tears.
Tessie looked on in guilt, "We should apologize to her."
Pepper shook her head, "Nah, she'll get over it."
Kate rolled her eyes, "She doesn't get over her nightmares."
July scratched her head, "I think I haven't said anything at all today."
Duffy shrieked, "Shut up!"
July glared, "No, you shut up!"
Carol rolled her eyes, "I'll apologize to her, anything to get away from another fight."
A truck was ringing from outside the building.
"Hey, that rhymes," Carol pointed out.
"Stop breaking the 4th wall!" Kate snapped.
"Ooh!" Agatha grinned as this was another opportunity for love. "I'll just tell some of the other brats to come along with me." She glared at Carol. "As for your ass, wait in the reception."
Carol sighed, "F-Fine."
Carol was now cleaning every inch of Miss Hannigan's reception office. "It's a Hard Knock Life for us…" She mumbled.
Agatha smirked, "Keep it going."
"It's a Hard Knock Life for us." She chanted.
She was completely beaten up with her hair ruffled up and her clothes looking even messier… and they weren't even clothes to begin with. She was bleeding with wounds and cuts with her entire body aching.
Agatha then roughly opened Carol's mouth and shoved the most bars of soap inside, "There, that should teach you not to swear to me."
"It's a Hard Knock Life for us." She muffled.
Agatha then kicked Carol to the floor to wipe more mess, "Hurry up, pig dropping."
Carol was now crying of tears, it was truly a Hard Knock Life for them. "It's… it's… it's… it's a.. Hard… Hard Knock… Life." Her mouth was now aching from the bars.
Agatha groaned, "Oh my god, cut it out with the tears or I'll tape you to the wall."
Carol looked at her tear-eyed and asked her something.
Agatha asked confused, "The hell was that." She took the bars out.
Carol asked whimpering, "How's that possible?!"
She smirked, "Any related to punishing little brats is possible." She grew angry. "NOW GET BACK TO CLEANING!"
She shoved the bars back into her mouth.
Carol thought in her head, "Why? Just why? This is truly abuse! She should not get away with this bullshit! I hate her so fuckin' much!"
Agatha slapped Carol's face and snapped, "Hello! Earth to dimwit! Hurry up or I'll place your hands on the stove." She added with a grin. "Or better yet, your face."
Carol gulped and then started to clean faster as Miss Hannigan was whipping her bottom.
"This blows!" She thought in her head. "I wonder if Annie has any better luck on her search for her folks."
Two minutes later, Agatha came and took off the bars from Carol's mouth. "Now, fuck off! You piece of shit, your torture is-"
Carol started to puke on the ground, the revolted bits of vomit was spreading on the ground.
"YOU FUCKING MENACE!" Agatha barked. "THE FUCK GAVE YOU THE INTENTION TO PUKE ALL OVER MY OFFICE!"
Carol was more anxious than ever, she wondered what dangerous punishment was in the making for her.
Agatha then smirked, "Lick it."
Carol stared at her wide-eyed, "Wha-wha-what!"
Agatha glared down and roared, "LICK IIIIIT!"
Carol gulped and started to lick the entire puke on the floor. "Oh-Oh Fuck! She's gonna pay for this!" She thought in her head.
Agatha approached her desk, "So help me if this orphan continues to piss me off."
A few minutes later, Carol finished licking the puke and Agatha let her go… Freaking Finally because that was complete torture. Just why oh why was she her most resentful target? There must be some explanation to clarify all this shit. Some psychotic bitch she is. Locking orphans in a room or whipping them.
She remembered the first time she ever encountered the witch. When she was just two years old and was brought to the place. Miss Hannigan was nice but when the cops left the room she turned violent, slapping her, not giving her food, and even tying her to the stroller. Curse that treacherous moron.
Carol went inside her bedroom and checked on her roommates, who all gasped in shock at her.
"You look horrible!" Tessie commented.
"Much well appreciated, Tess." Carol deadpanned.
"So, what'd she do to ya?" July asked.
"It's kinda too disturbing to tell, July." Carol shivered.
"Not it ain't." Pepper scoffed.
Molly put her hand on Carol, "I'm sorry she did that to you." She apologized.
Carol smiled warmly at the 6-year-old, "Ah, you don't have to feel bad for me, sweetie."
Kate snapped, "Of course, she has to! She keeps torturin' ya more than us and you're fuckin' bleedin'."
Pepper gave an eye roll at her, "She'll live, Kippy!"
The others couldn't help but laugh as Kate angrily got a broom and smashed it into Pepper's stomach.
Pepper moaned in pain, "AH! FUCK, OH, WHY?!"
Kate glared daggers at her, "Use that nickname again, asshole, and there'll be one less orphan in this dump."
Pepper got up and punched Kate's forehead and sent her to the floor.
Duffy winced, "Geez, too much violence in here recently."
July added, "Usually, if Annie was here, she would stop this in no time."
Molly gasped, "Can we not be a group without Annie?!"
Tessie chanted, "Oh my goodness! Oh my goodness!"
Carol flatly said, "And just like that, I'm leavin'." She jumped out of the window and closed it.
July called, "Pepper, Kate, Carol's just left." She informed. There was no response from either of the two.
Molly spoke, "I don't think they can hear you."
Tessie panicked, "Oh my goodness! Oh my goodness!"
Duffy deadpanned to her, "Is that the only words you know?"
Carol was walking around the street. It had been a while since she got some fresh air. Miss Hannigan had never wanted them kids out because it would affect her job status and also she mentioned they were too stupid. She wondered if she might see Annie out here or maybe she'd already found her parents by now. If she did, lucky lady. She would try to track her to at least stay in touch with her.
She decided to stop when she saw a chair and decided to rest herself on it. But then she saw a dog which seemed like it was running away from animal abusers.
"Hey, hey, hey, come here, boy." Carol yelled.
The dog looked at Carol. It didn't know whether to trust the girl considering the kids that were after it but then it sensed some love and care for the animals inside of her and decided to stay with her.
Carol then hugged the dog. "Aww! You feel very soft."
The dog barked at her.
Carol giggled, "Well, hello to ya too. My full name's Caroline but I'm named Carol for short."
The dog looked at her curious. It then moved around her.
"You seem like you're lost, little boy." Carol commented, frowning.
The dog frowned sadly at her too.
Carol ruffled his fur, "Well, you're with me now so there's nothing to worry about."
The dog smiled at her.
Carol thought of something and then smiled, "You know, if you truly are a stray, I should call you, Sandy."
Sandy barked happily but then he saw a few boys running towards their direct, he began barking consistently.
Carol asked concerningly, "What's the matter, boy?" She and the dog got up from the chair.
Sandy proceeded with his barking and then whimpered and got behind when he saw the boys running closer.
Carol saw it too and gasped. She glanced at the dog knowing they wanted something to do with it, "Oh shit…"
Boy #1 greeted, "Greetings."
Carol looked at them suspiciously.
Boy #3 replied, "That dog belongs to us."
Carol asked, "Really?"
Boy #5 explained, "We actually have some shit with this dog that we need to deal with."
Boy #4 facepalmed, "Oh, don't tell her that, dumbass."
Carol shouted, "I KNEW IT!"
Boy #2 snapped, "Give us the dog, bitch!"
Carol challenged, "Come and get me for it!"
The boys chased Carol and Sandy through the street dodging many people and objects.
Annie was walking in street sighing in relief. She also loved fresh air but then she spotted a few boys trying to catch Carol and a dog, she had a look on her face that read "You better not lay a single limb on them" and ran off to rescue them.
Carol and Sandy reached a dead end.
Carol groaned, "Shit!" She ranted.
The filthy boys caught them and surrounded them.
Boy #6 smirked and said, "You have nowhere to run, bastard. Now hand the dog to us."
"Not so fast."
Everyone turned to see Annie who had an intimidating look on her face.
"I don't want any problems here so just hand them over!" Annie demanded fiercely.
Boy #6 came over and pushed Annie to the wall.
Carol scowled, "Hey, leave her alone, asshole."
Boy #4 laughed, "And what are you gonna do about it?" He asked mockingly.
Carol raised herself from the ground and bit Boy #4's hand.
"AAAAAAAA!" He screamed.
Annie pushed Boy #6 to the ground angrily. "Fuck off, dickhead!" She snapped. She and Carol started to attack all of the boys to the ground.
The boys was coughing on the ground and looked tired as the girls smirked at them.
Carol smugly asked them, "Give up?"
Boy #3 pleaded, "Yes, fuck yes, you gals can keep the mutt. We'll leave ya in peace, right boys."
The boys all agreed also scared of the girls.
Annie and Carol hugged each other and then faced each other.
Annie gasped, "Leapin' Lizards, you look awful!"
Carol complained, "Oh is everyone gonna say that now!
Annie asked softly, "The hell did she do to you?"
Carol looked away, "You don't wanna know?"
"So, how the hell did ya come across those boys?" Annie asked.
Carol anxiously glanced at Sandy, "It was that dog."
Sandy then came up to Carol and hugged her, to which she returned back.
Annie spun her gaze at the dog and gave it a look, "Huh, seems like a dumb dog to me."
Carol looked at it sympathetically, "He's lost and seems very hungry."
Annie confused asked, "Why was he being chased by those morons?"
Carol answered, "He probably thought they were nice or somethin'?"
Annie then exited the area but Sandy crawled towards her barking for her to stop. She kneeled to the dog's level and began to sing another song.
Dumb dog, why are you following me?
I ain't got a crumb, dog
How about lettin' me be?
"He's flippin' poor." Carol pointed out.
I ain't gonna feed you
Ain't got a scrap for you
Need you?
Don't give a rap for you
Carol was taken back, "Geez, Ann, no need to be so harsh." She commented.
Dumb dog, dumber than they come dog
You're the most presumin' dog
Annie and Carol are seen outside with Carol smiling at Annie for growing on the dog.
That a human could know
Carol yawned, "Well, I am tired and it's nearly lunch." She said.
Annie suggested, "Let's just go home."
As they were about to go home, they were stopped by a cop.
Carol groaned, "Son of a…"
"...bitch." Carol finished as she was held in the left hand of a cop with Annie on the right.
They were lucky he allowed Sandy to be with them.
Cop said, "I believe these brats are yours."
Agatha feigned a happy expression and happily cheered like a mother, "Oh Annie, Carol my little peach fuzzies, you alright."
Carol gagged, "You truly have a big heart, Aggie."
Annie and Carol motioned to the others to take Sandy in while Agatha was distracted.
They complied and Duffy gave them a thumbs up. Annie and Carol walked in and looked disgusted and who can blame them for being hugged by someone like that?
However, Pepper stayed to enjoy the show as she smirked.
Agatha flirted with cop and asked, "How can I pay you?"
The cop gagged, "Well, you can keep your distance from me as a start."
Pepper teased, "Kissy, kissy, kissy!"
Agatha growled, "Kill! KILL!" She then noticed the cop escaped and groaned.
Carol was now in bandaids. The girls were now cleaning a room according to their matron's demands. Agatha walked passed the room.
"We love you, Miss Hannigan." The girls lied.
"Sure," She muttered.
She walked away to do something more important than spending time with brats.
The girls checked to see if Miss Hannigan was truly out of sight. Fortunately, she was and it was a perfect opportunity for them to gush at the dog, Sandy as Carol named it.
"Oh my goodness! Oh my goodness!" Tessie cooed.
"Cutest thing!" Duffy giggled.
"Where'd you find him?" July gushed.
"On the street, he was being chased by boys." Carol confirmed sadly.
Everyone felt bad for Sandy.
"The fuckers will pay for this!" One orphan declared.
Annie and Carol snickered at each other.
Carol responded, "They did and we gave 'em a sucker!" She giggled.
Everyone laughed.
"Ah, man I wish I was there to see that!" One orphan wished.
"He smells!" Pepper protested blocking her nose.
"Oh, it's not that bad!" Kate rolled her eyes at her.
"What's his name?" Molly questioned.
"Guess?" Annie challenged.
"Fifi!" Molly joked.
Annie shook her head as Carol faced her in disbelief, "The hell kinda name is that?"
Molly shrugged, "I heard it on Miss Hannigan's radio."
"That ain't a name for this mutt." An orphan giggled.
So how about Champion?
Champion you're anything but
Kate rolled her eyes at her stupid friend.
We could call him Tiger
But there's no bite in him
Tiger! Kittens would frighten him
Rover! When you think it over
"Shut the fuck up!" An orphan snapped.
Rover is the perfect name for this dumb looking dog!
"Rover." An orphan called and did a flip.
Sandy ran up to her and then ran up to all of the other orphans. He eventually approached Annie and Carol, to which they looked fondly at him.
"Gals, please, they're all stupid names." Carol honestly confessed.
The orphans complained angrily towards her.
"And what did you call her?" July asked with a look.
"Sandy!" She answered ruffling the dog's fur.
The orphans then realized that was a prefect name and continued to look at the dog fondly.
Annie then proceeded to finish the song,
Sandy, Sandy's his name of the barrel
If you don't believe me ask a certain orphan named Carol
Carol smirked at Annie.
Residing on Sandy
True he ain't pedigreed
Sandy, there ain't no better breed
And he really comes in handy
'Specially when you're all alone in the night
And you're small and terribly frightened it's
Sandy, Sandy who'll always be
Annie and Carol kissed his forehead.
there
"She's coming." One orphan announced.
Everyone panicked.
"Oh shit!" Carol gasped.
"Okay, everyone help me hide him!" Annie demanded.
They all complied and hid him with curtains and clothing.
Agatha came in the room and approached Annie and Carol, who were standing by a dog.
"I love you, Miss Hannigan." Annie declared sheepishly.
"True that!" Carol added weakly.
"And you will love the paddle closet, BRATS!" Agatha grunted as she grabbed Annie aside. She then pulled out the valuables that were covering Sandy. "And this will love the sausage factory." She informed.
Everyone screamed, "NOOOOOO-"
Agatha stopped them, "Up, up, up, up, up! What do you say?" She challenged.
"We love you, Miss Hannigan." They all lied.
"You doofuses need fucking mental help!" Agatha remarked annoyed.
"I hate you!" Carol snapped.
Agatha evilly grinned, "You're punishment just raised… BY 75%!"
Carol gulped, why did she have to say that?
Agatha then brought Annie and Carol into the office. She threw Annie into the paddle closet.
"OW!" She cried in pain.
"Shut up!" Agatha growled and closed the closet.
"But I thought I was gonna be in the closet?!" Carol asked confused.
Agatha smirked, "Oh no! I have a special punishment for you, young lady!"
Carol shivered but then her shivers stopped when she heard the doorbell.
Agatha groaned, "Ohh! Goddamn it! Why at this time?!"
Carol asked, "So, what are you gonna do-"
She was cut off as Agatha grabbed her, "Shut ya trap and come with me?"
They both made their way to the front door as the doorbell kept ringing.
"Oh for fuck's sake, I'm coming!" She shrieked. She opened the door to reveal a lady.
"Greetings, Ma'am!" She greeted. "My name is Grace Farewell-"
"Well, Farewell to you!" Agatha remarked as she was about to close the door.
Grace stopped her, "Wait! Can I have a chat with you?" She requested. "The New York Board of Orphans sent me here."
Agatha then realized this might be a social inspector - and Carol was smirking if that was the case - and then responded, "Oh my goodness-"
Tessie shouted from somewhere, "Hey! That's my line!"
Agatha glared at the inside of the building and then smiled at Grace, "Why don't you come in?" She closed the door behind the three of them. "Welcome to are happy home."
"Any word but to do with happy is a word I would use." Carol joked.
The three made their way to Agatha's office and Gace looked disgusted by the orphanage. She saw how all the orphans looked miserable and seemed as if they were forced to clean the building.
The orphans were by the window eavesdropping on their conversation.
"So, what are you doing here, Miss Farewell?" Carol asked, curious.
"Oh, I'm here to inquire an orphan." Grace answered simply.
"Listen, I can explain…" Agatha began explaining that Annie and Carol's absence was a mistake.
"Miss Hannigan, what are you talking about?" Grace asked puzzled by her behaviour.
Carol smirked and said, "Well, me and-"
Agatha kept coughing and it got hard to make it seem threatening to Carol. She then realized why Grace was here and responded, "Hold it, sister. Are you peddling beauty products? Because I don't need no beauty products."
"Well, you certainly need an education since you used a double negative." Carol snarked.
Agatha seriously wanted to beat her up but can't since there was a lady in the room
"...Anyways, I'm the private secretary to Oliver Warbucks." Grace announced.
That made Agatha and Carol go wide-eyed.
"OLIVER WARBUCKS?!" They simultaneously exclaimed.
Grace giggled. If she had a dollar for every time she got that same reaction.
"YOU MEAN AS THE OLVIER WARBUCKS?!" Carol screamed.
"OLIVER WARBUCKS: THE MILLIONAIRE?!" Agatha added.
Grace corrected, "Oliver Warbucks: The Billionaire." She said with a grin.
"LEAPIN' LIZARDS!" Carol shrieked out of amazement.
"Holy mother of god!" Agatha commented in shock.
Grace informed, "He actually wants to invite an orphan to spend a week-"
"MEEEEE!" Carol offered loudly. "PICK ME! PICK ME! PICK ME!"
Agatha berated, "No! No! No, no, no, no, no, no, no, no!" She grabbed Carol and hugged her. "Carol's a special one, ya can't have her!"
Carol escaped from Agatha's grasp and declared, "Oh yes ya can, there's no way I'm stayin' in this depressed dump!"
Agatha sternly ordered, "You're staying here and that's final!"
Carol shot back, "To hell, I'm not! I'm going and that's that!"
Annie kicked the paddle closet door open and crossed her arms, "And you're takin' me too? Where ever Carol goes, I go?"
Agatha glared at them, "I thought I-"
Annie uttered, "Me and Carol, we're an extraordinary pair! You need us!"
Agatha closed the paddle closet with Annie in it. She turned back to Grace and informed, "You especially don't want her.
Carol scoffed at the lie and asked her, "And you aren't one?"
Annie exited the paddle closet and begged, "Please take us with you, Miss Farewell?"
Carol added, "Yeah, we'll be good girls!"
Agatha retorted, "Seriously, they're drunks!"
Grace rolled her eyes and turned to smile at the orphans, "How'd you like to spend a week with Mr. Warbucks at his house?"
Annie nodded smiling, "We'd love to!"
Carol added grinning, "Splendid!"
Agatha grabbed the orphans, "I mean it! You can have any orphan in this dump but these bitches! They have to know their place, ya see!"
Grace asked suspicious, "Place?"
Agatha added, "And their entirely cheeky!"
Grace took the girls back and defensively replied, "Well, my boss like cheeky kids."
Agatha scoffed, "Tough!"
Grace glared, "You know the Board of Orphans!"
Agatha smirked, "What's it to ya, sweetheart?"
Grace mentioned, "Mr. Warbucks has contact with 'em!"
Agatha asked, "Is that a fact!" She drank her beer.
Grace smugly replied, "It's also a fact that he asked how many people he had lined up for your job!"
Agatha spat out her beer on Annie and exclaimed, "WHAT?!"
"It's an awful time to be out of work, isn't it, Miss Hannigan?!"
Agatha froze as Carol whispered to her, "You know, you should probably agree to this decision-"
"FINE!" She shouted reluctantly but then smirked. "But someone has to look after the other brats so they don't kill themselves."
Annie and Carol stared at her.
"So, that means Carol has to return here after a day," Agatha smirked and added, "Or else!"
Carol sighed as she was about to blow the F-Bomb and just reluctantly said, "Fine!"
"Leapin' Lizards!" Annie squealed out of joy.
"Leapin' Lizards!" Agatha mocked.
Carol smiled weakly, "Well, at least I'm going anyway!"
The three were about to go but then Sandy was barking his way through here.
Carol facepalmed, "Oh shit I almost forgot about Sandy!"
Annie whistled, "Come here, Sandy, Come here, boy!"
Sandy barked as he crawled over to Annie and Carol.
Agatha pleaded, "Please take him! I don't want him shitting all over this dump."
Grace shook her head, "We can't!"
Carol begged, "Please, Ma'am! He'll end up in the sausage factory!"
Grace reluctantly agreed, "Fine!"
Annie screamed, "Oh, boy!"
Outside the orphanage, Grace and the girls entered the limo. There were many people outside who knew this belonged to Mr. Warbucks and probably wanted some of his money.
Pepper, Kate, Duffy, July, Tessie, and Molly were waving goodbye to Annie and Carol.
Carol promised, "Don't worry, ladies! I'll be back after day!"
Annie added, "And I'll bring presents if I can manage."
They drove off to Mr. Warbuck's mansion. Apparently, two boys were attached to the back of the vehicle for some reason.
