Hello everyone, Lealius here with a little Lancaster (Ruby x Jaune) one shot
This fic mentions the use of weed, so if you feel uncomfortable with it, this story ain´t for you

-"And with that, we are done!" a young red-head woman known as Ruby Rose exclaimed triumphally
-"Yeah, boy, I´m tired" a young blonde man known as Jaune Arc said with a sigh of relief
They were students at Beacon Academy, the place where the future defenders of Remnant are formed
They were also the best friend of each other, as well as the leaders of team RWBY and JNPR respectively
And part of their duties as leaders was completing a weekly report every sunday about their teams´ performances and behavior. Which, when you consider the likes of people like Yang and/or Nora, it's not an easy task, not that the leaders don't have their own series of shenanigans as well. That food fight at the cafeteria will always be remembered
And thus, they were at Ruby's room, where they had spent the last couple of hours writing the reports. Homework is better done alongside friends after all
-"Come on, let´s submit these to Goodwitch and catch up with the others" Ruby said, she then began to prepare the e-mail with the reports to be send
While she was doing that, Jaune stood up and began to stretch his arms, and that's when he noticed something peculiar
-"Hey, Rubes"
-"Yes?"
-"Um" he scratched the back of his head "I think Yang might want to change her sheets"
-"Huh?" Ruby stopped what she was doing and went to check what her bestie was talking about
And sure enough, there was a hole in said sheet, like the one made with a knife
-"That's odd" Ruby said "She never mentioned it"
Upon further inspection with her hand, she realized that the hole was also in the mattress
-"Why is there a hole on her bed?" Ruby asked confused
-"Beats me" Jaune said
Deciding to get to the bottom of this, Ruby took of the sheets, and took a closer look at the mattress´ hole
-"Wow" she put her hand into it "It's really deep"
-"This can't be a mistake done by the manufacturer" Jaune pointed out, feeling weird about this "I mean, it looks like she did it herself"
-"Yeah, but why would" she stopped when she felt her hand touching something hard "Hold on, I got something here"
-"One of the mattress springs?"
-"No, it feels square-like. Hang on, I think I can pull it off"
And what she got out was a medium-sized wooden box
-"Ok, so your sister keeps a wooden box hidden deep within her bed" Jaune said, trying to make sense of this "But why?"
-"I don't know" she inspected the box. on the outside, there was nothing weird about it "Let's check what's inside"
-"Should we?" Jaune was nervous "If she catches us checking her belongings, we are in trouble"
-"Relax" she waved off his concerns "We are making sure it´s nothing dangerous. It's our duty to protect our siblings"
-"I am just saying, they can get very delicate about this stuff. Trust me, I know"
Ignoring him, Ruby opened the box, which was unlocked for some reason, and what she saw made her raise an eyebrow
-"What is this?" Ruby asked
Jaune came to take a look, and he was confused too
Inside the box, there were a couple of weird green-brownish things the size of a small ball
Jaune poked it with her finger "It looks like some sort of weird plant"
-"Didn't know Yang was into gardening" Ruby was puzzled "Why keep it hidden though? No one is gonna make fun of her, unless they want to feel her rage"
-"True" never provoke the golden dragon's rage "Well, it's really not our business. We all have the right to our secret hobbies"
-"Yeah, and"
Suddenly, the box slipped from her hand, falling to the ground, and spreading the plants on the floor
-"Oh no!" Ruby gasped
-"Don´t worry, let's just pick it up, and put it where it was. Then we can go with the others"
-"Yeah, oh, I can't wait to show the others the new upgrade on Crescent Rose"
-"Oh?" Jaune was curious, completely forgetting about the plants "What do you mean?"
-"Here" Ruby said while taking Crescent Rose from her back and turning it into its gun form, also forgetting about the plants "It´s new upgrade that allows for"
But before she could continue, a bullet was fired from Crescent Rose, right into the plants
-"Eek!" they both squeaked
The bullets caused the plants to be set on fire. Smoke began to emanate from them, and right into the two leaders
-"Ehem, ehem" they both coughed as the smoke went into their noses and mouths
With a few steps on, Jaune put off the fire
-"Good work, Jaune" Ruby said "Sorry, I don't know why the bullet was shot, it has the safety mode on"
-"What matters is that no one was hurt"
However, they still have one problem
Ruby sniffed "Wow" she felt lightheaded "Those plants have a strong smell"
The room was still filled with some smoke
-"Yeah" Jaune agreed "But" he sniffed again "It's not that bad"
-"You know" Ruby sniffed again "You´re right, it actually feels nice"
As if reason had abandoned them, they kept inhaling the weird sent, not bothering to open a window
After about 15 minutes of this, Ruby spoke up
-"Wow" she felt weird
-"What?" Jaune asked
-"My hands" she looked at them "They are so cool" she felt giggly
-"Really?" Jaune said, and pouted cutely "Aw man, I wish I have hands too"
-"But you do have them, silly"
-"Huh?" he looked at his hands "Oh yeah, you are right" he began to wave his hands in all sorts of directions "They can move everywhere. I must have superpowers!"
-"No fair!" Ruby yelled and giggled "I want superpowers too!"
-"Wait" Jaune remembered something "Don´t you have those super-special-awesome silver eyes with magic powers?"
-"What?" Ruby asked
-"What?" Jaune repeated back
-"Something about eyes"
-"Who´s Eyes?" Jaune asked confused "I don´t know anyone by the name of Eyes"
-"Me neither, hehe" Ruby said "I do know this guy called Jaune Arc"
-"Really? Can you introduce me to him?"
-"That´s you silly" she giggled
-"Oh yeah. Man, you are smart Ruby, you should know my best friend, Ruby Rose"
-"Yes, please!" she then realized something "Oh wait, that's me!"
-"Oh yeah" he smiled goofily "Man, you´re awesome Ruby!"
-"You too Jaune!"
They shared hug
-"I love you" Ruby said
-"I love you too" Jaune said
They broke the hug
-"Man, let's not lose contact after graduation" Jaune said
-"Who´s "contact after graduation"?" Ruby was confused
-"I don´t know, hehe"
They kept quiet for some time
-"I want cake!" Ruby stomped her foot
-"I want cake too!" Jaune also stomped her foot
They looked at each other
-"WE ARE CAKE BUDDIES!" they both yelled
They stumbled their way to the door, barely opening it
-"Let's go for the cake!" Ruby yelled
-"Yeah!" Jaune yelled
As they were walking down the hallway, Ruby fell down on her back
-"Aw, my poor tushy!" Ruby rubbed her butt
-"Ruby!" Jaune got down on his knees "You ok?"
-"No, I think I am poisoned!" she began to cry "You´ll have to leave me behind, Jaune!"
-"Never!" she raised her, and began to piggyback her "I am not leaving you behind!"
-"Jaune" she felt touched "You're my hero!" she pointed at their path ahead "GO FORWARD, MY NOBLE HORSE!"
Imitating the sound of a horse, they carried on
At the cafeteria, the remaining members of teams RWBY and JNPR, that is to say, Weiss, Blake, Yang, Nora, Pyrrha, and Ren were waiting for their respective leaders
-"What is taking them so long?" Weiss let out a frustrated sigh "It shouldn't be that hard for them to make their reports"
-"Should we go look for them?" Pyyrha suggested "Maybe they are having some issues"
-"Let's try calling them first" Blake said
-"I am on it" Yang took out her scroll and dialed her sister´s number
As they were galloping down the hallway, Ruby´s scroll began to sound
-"Halt, my noble steed!" Ruby yelled
Jaune did as he was told
Ruby picked up the video call, and saw her sister's face
-"Yellop" Ruby giggled
-"Hey, Rubes" Yang said "Are you guys coming?"
-"Hah!" she overdramatically gasped
-"What´s wrong?" Yang was confused
-"Yang…" Ruby's eyes were watering "THEY CUT OFF YOUR HEAD!"
-"Eh?" Yang was at a loss
-"What´s wrong?!" Jaune asked concerned
-"JAUNE! SOMEONE CUT OFF YANG´S HEAD!"
-"WHAT?!" Jaune overdramatically yelled
-"Ruby, what are you talking about?" Yang asked
-"Don´t worry, my dear sister" she looked at the ceiling "We'll avenge you! Right, Jaune?!"
-"DAMN RIGHT!"
Ruby hung up
-"So?" Ren asked when he noticed Yang finished her call "Are they on their way?"
-"I… think so?" she scratched her head
-"You don't sound so sure" Blake said
-"Either way, they better hurry" Weiss said "Or we´ll be late for the movie"
-"Have faith in our fearless leaders, Weiss" Nora said
As soon as she finished saying that, the door of the cafeteria burst opened, and they there were
-"See!?" Nora smiled proudly "Here they… are" her voice trailed off
Them, alongside the other people at the cafeteria kept staring at the duo as they made their way to their teammates
-"YANG!" Ruby yelled once she got down from Jaune
-"Um, Rubes, why was Jaune giving you a piggyback?"
-"YANG!" she went to hug her sister "YOU GOT YOUR HEAD BACK!"
-"Huh?" Yang was at a loss for words
-"No fair, Jaune-Jaune!" Nora said offended "I asked for a piggyback the other day, and you said no! How come Ruby gets it?"
-"Nora, I don't think that's the issue" Ren said
-"It is to me!"
-"Is everything ok Jaune?" Pyyrha asked concerned
-"You guys" Jaune said as he looked at his teammates "You didn't lose your heads"
-"Eh?" the three of them said
-"Did you send the reports to Goodwitch?" Weiss asked, deciding not to dig deeply about the horseriding
-"Goodwitch!?" Ruby yelled "So she's the one who cut off my sister's head"
-"What?!" Yang asked
-"We can´t let her get away with this" Jaune said
Suddenly, they felt a familiar scent
Looking at a nearby table, they noticed two pieces of chocolate cake
-"CAKE!" they both said, rushing to get the delicious treat
-"Hey!" the owner complained when they took it
Ignoring everything, they began to wolf down on the cake
-"Ruby, Jaune, what are you doing?!" Blake asked as she and others approached them
They finished their cake
-"Ok, time to get Goodwitch!" Ruby yelled "Hop on, Jaune!"
And he did, now it was her turn to be the horse
Activating her semblance, they left at great speed, leaving a trail of petals behind
Their friends just stared at them, trying to process what's just happened
-"Should we be concerned?" Pyrrha was the first to speak
-"We should follow them just in case" Ren said
-"We don´t get paid enough for this" Weiss said as she begrudgingly went with the others
-"Just what's wrong with Ruby and Jaune?" Yang thought "Either they are super friendly or they are on drugs"
Professor Goodwitch was talking to Headmaster Ozpin about things related to the survival on Remnant
And then the door was burst open
-"Aha!" Ruby yelled
-"There you are!" Jaune yelled
The headmaster and his assistant stared at them as Jaune demounted Ruby
-"Ms. Rose, Mr. Arc!" Goodwitch said with a stern tone "You should knock before entering!"
-"Don´t think you can fool us!" Ruby said
-"Yeah, we know what you did!" Jaune said
-"What are you talking about?" Ozpin asked
Both Ruby and Jauned pointed at her "YOU CUT OFF YANG´S HEAD!"
A stunning silence filled the environment, no one dare talking for the next few minutes
Ozpin took a sip of his coffee, looked at the duo and calmly said "What?"
-"She cut off my sister's head!" Ruby yelled
-"What on Remnant are you talking about?" Goodwitch said, feeling a migraine coming "Also, you have yet to send me the reports"
-"Ruby!" Yang yelled as she and the others arrived at the office
-"Yang!" Ruby said "You have your head back!"
-"I never lost my head to begin with!"
-"Ms. Xiao-Long" Goodwitch said "Why are Ms. Rose and Mr. Arc under the impression that I did something to you?"
-"We don't know, Professor" Pyrrha said "They just showed at the cafeteria, for some reason Jaune was giving Ruby a piggyback, and they start yelling that"
-"And then they came here" Weiss added "After eating someone else's cake"
Meanwhile, Ruby and Jaune were checking a plant in a vase
-"You have some pretty plants here, Headmaster Ozpin" Ruby said
-"Yeah, so pretty" Jaune added
-"Thank you" Ozpin said, sounding grateful and, for some reason, not bothered by this
-"Too bad they don't look like the ones at your room, Rubes" Jaune said
-"Yeah, same here" she looked at Jaune "I love you Jaune"
Everybody froze upon hearing that
-"I love you too Ruby"
No one said anything
Until
-"Hold on a second" Blake said once she remembered a certain part of the conversation "Plants in our room?"
-"We don't have plants in our room" Weiss said
-"Yes, you do" Jaune said
-"Yeah!" Ruby added "They were inside a wooden box that was hidden inside Yang´s bed"
To this, the golden beautie went pale
Everybody else looked at her
-"I didn't know you were into gardening, Yang" Ren said, slightly surprised
-"But why keep it hidden inside your bed?" Nora asked confused "Plants need sunlight
-"T-That´s" she began to sweat
-"It's confusing, right?" Ruby added "We accidentally set them on fire though, and they had such a strange smell afterwards"
-"And after we inhale some of the smell, we found out about your head being cut off, so we went to the cafeteria, and then here" Jaune added
Yang was shrinking against the stares of her friends and school authorities were giving to her
-"Ms. Xiao-Long" Ozpin said "What were those plants exactly?"
-"Ehehehehe" she nervously laughed as he played with her fingers
They were now at the nurse room, where Ruby and Jaune were given some medicine
Yes, they have medicine to cure being high because of
-"YOU HAD WEED HIDDEN IN OUR ROOM THIS WHOLE TIME?!" Weiss yelled
-"Hey" Ruby said while holding her head
-"We´re with a headache here, keep it down" Jaune said
-"It was a gift from a friend back at Signal" Yang said, playfully kicking the floor "She couldn't come to Beacon due to some issues, so she gave it to me. I don't see what the big deal is. It's not illegal in Vale to smoke weed"
-"When you are 20 years or older" Ozpin said
-"Plus" Yang continued, ignoring what the headmaster said "It's not like I smoke whenever I am alone. I was saving it for when we graduate"
-"You wanted us to smoke weed that's going to be hidden inside your bed until we graduate?" Pyrrha asked confused "You do know that we graduate in 4 years, right?"
-"You´ll be surprised by how long it lasts… Not that I ever used it!" she quickly added "Plus, I had another idea in mind"
-"Which was?" Goodwitch asked
She looked away while playing with her fingers "Make brownies with them"
-"I am never eating anything you cook from here on now" Blake said, to which Weiss nodded in agreement
-"Can you even make brownies with that stuff?" Nora asked
-"I don´t know, and I don't want to know" Ren said
-"Moving on" Ozpin said "Ms. Xiao-Long, you are grounded for 2 weeks"
To this, she let out a groan
-"Could this be any worse?" she thought
As if fate was showing her the middle finger, her scroll began to ring. It was her and Ruby's dad
She, completely scared, answered
-"Hey, dad"
-"What's this about some "special" plants in your room?" he sternly asked
-"And it's time to have a parent-teacher conference" Ozpin added
She let out a groan once more
And so, everybody. minus Yang, went to the movies
Ruby and Jaune were on their way to their rooms. Since they were told that the medicine could cause headache, they decided that it was better to get some rest
-"So we apparently used each other as a horse" Ruby said as she was walking next to him
-"That stuff sure makes you do crazy things. Never touching it again" Jaune said
-"Same here, and I know it was crazy stuff what we did, but"
-"Hm?"
-"It sounds like we were having fun. It will be quite a tale for when we are out there on our missions"
To this, Jaune smiled "You really know how to make the best out of any situation, Rubes"
-"It's my special skill, bestie" she smiled at him "I do feel bad for Yang though. She´s gonna be pissed when she returns"
-"Do let me know when she does" Jaune said "It's not fair that you take all the heat when she´s mad. I also saw the box´s contents. I´ll be there to help you out"
-"Jaune" she was touched "Thank you"
-"As you said, we are besties" he smiled at her
-"Until the end of time" she smiled back
They kept on walking on silence, until Jaune spoke up
-"You know"
-"What is it, Jaune?"
-"I can't remember if we said something to each other" Jaune added "Everybody looked embarrassed when we asked, and refused to answer. Blake looked like she was having fun though, I saw her writing something on a notepad"
-"Yeah, that was weird, not the first time I´ve seen her doing that though. She also did it while we were playing video games the other day, and while we were training too" she shook her head "But it does not matter, whatever we said to each other, I am sure it was something amazing"
-"Yeah, you are right"
And so, they kept on walking while chatting happily
Because as long as they have each other
Everyday is an adventure
