Chapter 19: Floral Bouquet: Isobel and Jubal

The ADIC wanted an update on the case so Isobel went looking for her ASAC. She found him in the deserted hallway, staring at something. "Jubal?" she carefully called, trying not to scare him.

He still jumped nonetheless and hurriedly tucked away whatever he's staring at. "You needed something?" he asked.

Isobel would not be distracted. "What is that?"

"Oh, nothing." She gave him a stern look. With a sigh, he withdrew the thing that he hid and gave it to her.

"An invitation, to Sam and Alan's wedding" she read.

His hand went up to his nape. "Yeah, I mean it's not how I would want to spend my Saturday but my kids are going to be there. And I really am happy for Sam."

"So what's the problem?" she asked as she handed back the card.

"Well, the thing is..." Jubal started but his phone rang. "Hello? Okay, be right there." He said to her "Kelly's got an update on the case."

"Jubal..." she protested.

"We'll talk later, I promise."

The talk took place five hours later, in her living room couch. "Sam gave me an option for a plus one and I was hoping..."

She beamed. "Thought you'd never ask."

Chuckling, he teased "I haven't even finished yet."

"Well, if you're not asking me, I'd be very offended, Mister Valentine," she said, crossing her arms.

He moved closer to her and whispered, "And we couldn't let that happen." He tickled her sides and her laughter filled the house.

"You look stunning," he said when she finally walked down the stairs. Her peach dress hugging her curves. He nervously handed her his gift. "It's perfect to be paired with this."

She opened the flat box and gasped. A rose gold necklace with her initials engraved on the pendant.

"Jubal..." she started but couldn't finish it.

He smiled. "Do you want to wear it?" When she nodded, he took the necklace and carefully caressed her hair before putting it on her.

She then turned to hug him. "You didn't have to give me this but thank you, Jubal."

The wedding party was a blast. Isobel and Jubal danced with the kids and took lots of pictures. When a slow song was played, Jubal had his arms around her and she leaned her head on his shoulder.

"Sorry to interrupt but we've come to one of the most anticipated part of the evening," the emcee said. "It's time to find out who's going to be the next bride."

As the ladies gathered in the center, Abby pulled Isobel to join in. And to her surprise, she caught the bouquet. Sam winked at Jubal when she saw who caught her bouquet. Abby squealed in delight. "I think they planned it," Tyler whispered to his father, gesturing to Abby and Sam.

Of course, they did.
