Chapter Five
Alderson was feeling uneasy next to Quentin, there was something about him, he seemed grouchy next to Kazan and had no patience with the autistic individual. "Excuse me Quentin" "What!" He screamed back at Alderson, can we go to another room? I would love to speak to you in private for a moment.
"Sure, I don't mind," Quentin replied, while the two men walked to another room.
"What's your problem with Kazan?" Said Alderson to Quentin. "I've seen you losing your patience with him while we walk" "He is a deadweight and if we could get rid of him it would be easier"
"You left me speechless on how someone can be so cold with someone who is in need" Said Alderson to Quentin while walking back, but Quentin grabbed his shoulder and threw him to the floor knocking him unconscious, some blood was coming from his head and Quentin thought that he killed him by accident so he went to the latch and went back to the other room where he explained that Alderson had a stroke and collapsed suddenly while hitting his head.
Leaven asked him why he didn't call for help, he replied that we didn't need to lose the track they were going. As soon he was back in the rooms started to move and left the unconscious Alderson way behind them. To their luck, the room they were in was in a new position six blocks down south.
When they stopped they realized that there were water noises coming from below. Worth opened the latch that was on the floor and saw there was a small inner lake. "So we are inside a cave?" he thought while looking around.
"What are you seeing?" Holloway asked "Water, just water and a cave around" Worth replied. "When we programmed the outer shelf, we knew it was going to be a big structure, we knew the room numbers but we didn't know what the inner content of the rooms was going to be". He replied back.
"Does anyone remember what they were doing before awakening here?" Holloway asked everyone.
"No, the last memory I have is going to bed and then waking up here" Said Leaven.
"I do, I remember being kidnapped and knocked out with a syringe on my neck" Said Worth.
"I do," said Rennees. Everyone looked at him surprised. "The government took us in, we did something to anger them, I know I angered them because they couldn't contain me in one single facility so I ended up here with anyone who the government considered unworthy or problematic to be integrated into society.
Worth was looking at them with some discomfort because he felt guilty of helping create such a monstrosity as he was trying to make a living but also trying to look the other way while the government was preparing to implement their maximum punishment for dissidents or people who seem not worthy to be in society.
Since 2016 with the ascension of the redwave the United States sank in to a populist fascist movement, it became a police state by 2018 when the president was overthrown and by 2020 the Board of Governors made legal to implement different forms of punishment to people around such as death games or battle royale, anything that could remotely dissuade the general population of an insurrection.
