Hello everyone.
I know this is not what you wanted to read, but after some very difficult thinking, I have made the decision to cancel "Jared's Diary."
I am aware that this decision will be controversial, since it has been over three years since the last update, but there are two major reasons why I made this decision:
One; I have lost interest in RWBY.
I really enjoyed watching this series during the time it was broadcasted, but as the story went on it got to the point where it wasn't enjoyable anymore. More specifically, I stopped watching after the beginning of Volume 6. Yes; that was a long time ago, and there were times where I wanted to get back into it. However, the events of Volume 5 really dig me in; it wasn't as great as it was during the Beacon saga and after that I just didn't really like how the story was going. Furthermore, I already know what has happened up till now, and while I'm happy that the series finally developed certain main characters in the latest volume, I just feel like those elements were dragged on for way too long. This also included some certain characters being wasted. In laymen's terms, the story had gotten too slow and convoluted at times, and I really wished Rooster Teeth had done things better. My frustration in this also leads to my second reason.
Two; this story has became too personal for me.
There are some elements in this story that are inspired by real-life events, some of which I won't explain due to privacy, and that in of itself over the years since I began writing "Jared's Diary" has now hit way too close to home. For example, the pets that are featured in this story are my actual pets, and sadly they have since both passed away. I really wanted to explore more of this world, but unfortunately I've made the mistake of making things too realistic, and that has made me uncomfortable to continue.
Now, since this story is cancelled, I would like to also answer the question of what will happen to my spin-off "Benjamin's Journal."
The answer is this; I will continue that story... eventually.
Right now, I plan on restructuring a lot of this universe, where most of the elements introduced here will either be changed, left out, or retconned. It is possible that Benjamin will now become the main character, but I haven't really set things in stone yet. You will also expect a major restructuring in my profile as well.
Nevertheless, I do apologize for the news here and really hope whatever comes out of this would be better than before. In the meantime, you can go check out the other stories I have made so far or planned to be released in the near future.
