Prologue

Her apartment, bathed in the warm glow of holiday lights, echoed with the soft rustle of wrapping paper. Global Singing Sensation, Victoria "Tori" Vega, a woman of elegance and poise in her forties, moved gracefully between her carefully chosen decorations. The faint scent of holiday spices lingered in the air, creating an atmosphere of anticipation.

Seated at a table, Tori's hands worked meticulously as she wrapped a few carefully selected gifts. Her eyes wandered to a framed photograph on the wall—a captured moment of happiness with her late husband, Andre.

"Andre, this year's going to be different," she whispered tenderly to the image.

The gentle melody of a ringing phone interrupted her thoughts. Glancing at the screen, she saw her sister Trina's name flashing.

"Hey, Trina," Tori answered with a smile in her voice.

"Ready for the label meeting?" Trina's voice crackled through the phone.

Tori nodded, though Trina couldn't see. "Just finishing up some gift wrapping. Thought I'd bring a little holiday cheer for the team."

"You're always so thoughtful," Trina replied. "About the Gala, any chance you're bringing a date?"

A chuckle escaped Tori's lips, a knowing response to her sister's persistent matchmaking.

"Oh, Trina, you know I'm not into all that."

"Come on, Tori," Trina cajoled, "it's been fifteen years since Andre. You deserve happiness."

"I'm happy, Trina. My music keeps me fulfilled."

Trina persisted, teasing, "But a little romance wouldn't hurt, especially during the holidays. I've got this friend, he's—"

"Thanks, but no thanks," Tori interjected. "I'm not looking for love right now."

"Just promise me you'll think about it. Anyway, I can't wait to see you at the Gala. Love you!"

"Love you too, Trina."

As the call ended, Tori's face revealed a complex tapestry of emotions. She looked at the wrapped gifts before her, took a deep breath, and muttered to herself, "This Gala is just another night. I've got this."

She glanced once more at the framed photograph of Andre, a faint smile playing on her lips.

"Wish me luck, Andre."

With that, Tori left her apartment, determined to face the label meeting and the upcoming Gala with renewed resolve. The festive lights and holiday spirit in the air seemed to be coaxing her into a new chapter, a chapter that held the promise of change.

The crisp winter air greeted Tori as she stepped out of her apartment, an armful of presents cradled in her embrace. Her breath formed small clouds in the chill, and the festive spirit of the season surrounded her like a comforting cloak.

As she closed the door, her phone buzzed with a new message. A frown creased her forehead as she read the text from her label—they had moved the meeting up. Tori sighed, muttering to herself, "Always in a rush."

She made her way to the label's office, the gifts precariously stacked in her arms. The city buzzed with holiday energy, but Tori's thoughts were focused on the impending meeting. As she rushed through the streets, her phone vibrated again, a reminder of the time ticking away.

Entering the building, Tori maneuvered through the revolving doors, barely managing to keep the gifts from toppling. She caught the attention of the receptionist, a friendly face she had known for years.

"Hey, Patricia," Tori greeted a sense of urgency in her voice. "I've got these gifts for the team. Could you distribute them for me? The meeting got moved up, and I'm running late."

Patricia, always efficient, smiled and took the presents from Tori. "No problem, Tori. I'll make sure they get to everyone."

"Thanks, Patricia. You're a lifesaver."

With a nod of gratitude, Tori hurried down the familiar hallways, the hum of the office around her. She entered the meeting room, a whirlwind of holiday preparations evident in the bustling space. Colleagues greeted her, and she managed a smile, all the while thinking of the packed schedule.

As Tori settled into the meeting, her mind briefly wandered to the gifts she had left behind. She hoped they would bring a touch of warmth to her team amid the hectic holiday season. Little did she know that these small acts of thoughtfulness would be the spark that ignited unexpected changes in the days to come.
