"Where am I?" I asked myself as I suddenly found myself within a white void-like space that seemed to be endless in scale and size. However, before my eyes appears something that I never thought would happen outside of fanfictions and videogame themed anime/manga.
[Greetings Vincent Ryder. You have been randomly selected to become a gamer in a new universe. This system you have been given follows certain dungeon and dragon rulings with a lot of customization and generous changes to the formula.
However, that can be discussed later. Right now, let's start with customization.]
Appearing in front of me is a character creation screen that reminds me of the character creation screens from Fallout 76, Elden Ring and ESO. So, I get to work on my character. I try to avoid making anime characters because people that do that are kind of cringy.
Seriously, why would you make yourself look like your anime protagonist in a world where the protagonist is still alive? It's cringe.
Anyway, I now stand at six foot two with light brown skin, steel gray hair done in a large-like manner with the sides low and the center neat, trimmed and clean looking. My eyes are brown but I'm not looking very fit due to my stats now being changed yet.
[Great, you're done. Now let's move on to attribute allocation.
Standard Array: 15, 14, 13, 12, 10, 8
Strength: 0
Constitution: 0
Agility: 0
Cleverness: 0
Intelligence: 0
Mentation: 0
End]
"Okay so this is going to be the building blocks of my build, and honestly…I want to try and go the technological warrior pathway. Too many stories talk about doing stuff with science, but only speck into magic or something. Granted magic is cool, but I'm a sci-fi nerd at heart." I said to myself before I changed my attribute accordingly.
[Attributes
Strength: 8
Constitution: 10
Agility: 12
Cleverness: 13
Intelligence: 15
Mentation: 14]
[Excellent. Now you are being assigned character traits. The traits have positive and negative effects and are given to you at random based on your stat allocation and personality.]
"Damn it. I'm being hit with a Gacha gimmick."
[Yup. Now let's see what you roll.]
[Trait
Technopath: You have an intense connection to technology and are able to fuse science and magic together into your creations, however your 'Cleverness' stat now suffers a permanent debuff showing that you have low people skills.
Upside is that you now have a buff to your 'Intelligence' and 'Mentation'!]
"Not great but it could be worse."
[Trait
Bizarre Adventure: You love planning outside the box and coming up with the strangest plans to win, cheat or survive in any situation you're in.
Grants you a buff to your 'Cleverness' stat!]
"Oh, sweet. I got a trait without a downside.
[Trait
Low Mana: You aren't the ancestor to some power mages or witches. Your ancestors were normal people with no magic giving you low mana reserves and a permanent debuff to your mana pool.]
"Well, shit. It's a good thing I planned on going the technology route." I said bluntly as my bad luck seemed to be in effect even without a luck stat.
[The gacha gives and it takes away. Anyway, now let's move on to races.]
[Choose your race.
Human
Angel
Fallen Angel
Devil
Reincarnated Devil
Vampire
Dhampire
Lycan
Yokai
Dragon]
"Wow, a supernatural list. I guess that means that I'm heading towards a supernatural world, and since I don't know who I can or can't trust. I'll just stick with being human."
[Race: Human
Humans drew the short straw in terms of raw supernatural power and magic compared to other races, but humans are still strong and never give up.
Grants you a 25% increased XP bonus to all XP sources.]
"Neat."
[Unfortunately, you didn't get the good roll and therefore you weren't given a 'Sacred Gear']
"A sacred what?"
[Don't worry about it. The fact that you don't know about the world you're in is something of a blessing and a curse. I can't wait to see what you do. Go evil, good, or maybe neutral?]
"Are you asking me for my alignment?"
[No, that was me thinking about the possibilities. Anyway, you're going to be spawned into your world now, and you will be given memories of your life in that world, so you don't stick out like a sore thumb.]
"With the way this happened, this feels more like a Bethesda or Obsidian game instead of classic dungeons and dragons."
[If you don't like it then tough because I'm not changing the system. Anyway, prepare to spawn in the next three seconds.]
That was the last window screen I saw in front of me before I suddenly blacked out.
1
I kept my eyes closed and processed all the information that was dumped into my mind the moment I felt my senses come to life in this new environment.
I am an exchange student from America, and I am studying at Kuoh Academy until I graduate from the local college with some kind of degree because of legal troubles in America.
I'm, basically getting the Persona 5 treatment where I helped someone who screwed me over because they got scared of the person assaulting them. basically, I'm in exile.
I wasn't too close to my parents, but I hoped they would do better than this. But that's their loss. If this was a nice Isekai adventure I would have helped them live a good life, but since they were willing to abandon their kid so easily, they don't get shit.
But at least they are paying for the apartment I am staying in. They also give me an allowance to use for groceries. It still sucks though. But I've got clothes, food, a roof over my head and a cell phone. So, I can survive before I start going crazy with gamer stuff.
"Time to get up." I said to myself before I opened my eyes and saw my apartment room was…Basic to say the least. Just a bed, dresser, small tv on the ground and closet along with a waste basket for my clothes…Not a great start for a sci-fi guy who needs a workshop. Hopefully I'll be able to find one later.
"I've got time before my first day of Kuoh Academy so I might as well get used to this city. I need to know locations, points of interest and so on." I told myself before I grabbed some clothes and cleaned up in the bathroom before walking into the kitchen/living room where I eat some cereal before I headed outside dressed in a simple yellow T-shirt and jeans with sneakers on my feet.
I know this isn't the rough part of the city, but I keep my keys, wallet and cell phone in my Inventory just in case. Thankfully a full tutorial already existed in my head thanks to all the gamer fanfics I read in my previous life.
"Now, time to explore and maybe get some random encounters." I said to myself before I started walking around the city.
The walk was decently long and interesting. I live near a shopping district full of various people doing various things in various stores. I'd be lying if I said I wasn't a bit jealous since my allowance didn't leave much room for pleasure shopping.
However, I do notice a few help wanted posters, so maybe I could get a part time job while I'm here. It might not be glamours but without instant dungeons and stuff, I don't have a lot of resources to use.
Also, why the fuck is every chick so hot and every dude so handsome in this world?
Oh, shit the extreme attraction means an Ecchi or Harem anime…Possibly Shonen…Shit who are the main characters in this damn world? I don't have much of a starting point with zero info.
"Pardon me, but are you new here?" A person asked from behind me, making me turn around and see a girl around my age.
Mai Kujo, Level: 20
Lethal Bunny/Next Heir to the Steel Dragons
Mai is average height with fair skin, she has a slim build with small breast and curves, but she has a round face and is dressed in a pink hoodie with the hood up showing the hood has bunny ears and the hair poking out of her hood is a light blonde color. She is also wearing a short skirt with leggings covering her legs and basic sneakers on her feet.
I need to be careful here. I have no clue what the Steel Dragons are, but then again, I need allies, so I need to carefully think things over.
"Yeah, I'm new to town. Just moved in, and I'm just exploring the city for a bit." I replied as I have perfect mastery of both English and Japanese languages thankfully, and she seemed to give me a smile in return.
"Cool. Kuoh is a nice enough city if you spend enough time in it. The name's Kujo Mai."
"Nice to meet you Kujo-chan." I said boldly, making her blush a small bit.
Speech Check Passed!
"Likewise stranger-san." Mai said back playfully before I chuckled a bit and told her my name.
"I'm Ryder Vincent. But you can just address me by my first name. It would feel a bit weird otherwise."
"Good to know. So, tell me Vincent-san. Do you know that you're in, Steel Dragon territory?" Mai asked as I felt a sudden but predictable change in tone as Mai kept up her smile, but I could see that she was giving me a critical eye.
"Like a gang?"
"Yes. More specifically it is a Yakuza branch, and a foreigner like you could use friends like us. After all, Kuoh can be a dangerous place if you don't know who you shouldn't and shouldn't be friends with." Mai said coldly as her smile turned a bit sadistic and the light in her eyes dimmed.
I'd be lying if I said I wasn't nervous from the look.
"I get the sense that turning down such friendship wouldn't be a good thing."
"You're a quick thinker I see. That's good." Mai said before she snapped her fingers and suddenly, I felt something behind my back, making me turn my head and see three black and white suited men behind me, and one of them has a knife at my back. "If you refused, I would have had to get rid of you."
"Why is that?" I asked her as I looked at her and saw her turn around instead of facing me.
"Because I thought you were interesting. I have a special eye for interesting people, and you are especially interesting." Mai said back and soon enough I was placed inside of a limo sitting in the back flanked on both sides by two of the guards while Mai sat in the seat across from me with her legs crossed as she started making small talk.
She spoke about things she thinks are cute in a guy along with things she doesn't like. Some things could be forgiven, but other things couldn't, and I was getting all sorts of red flags during this ride.
The weird thing is that I'm not getting any quest alerts or anything.
[Sorry about that. I forgot to mention that the quests in your system take a lot after Outward designs, meaning you'd have to look in your journal and look at your quests…After you've written them down of course.]
"Were here." Mai said before we all stepped out of the car, and I saw that we were in front of a large traditional themed home. I was escorted inside, and I was placed in the living area and sat on my knees in front of a small table.
Two guards were behind me, and I could feel my heartbeat rise. My thoughts are going a million miles a minute and I can't help but realize that I might have already fucked up…This is the Yakuza I am dealing with.
They cut off their own fingers if a person fails at something, and I don't have any skills I can use to break out of this place if the worst happens…I don't even know who I'm waiting for in this place.
How did I, already fail this hard as a gamer?
"Please forgive the wait." A kind voice said as the door across from me slid open revealing an old man wearing a blue traditional robe with sandals.
Ken Kujo, Level: 45
Leader of the Steel Dragons/Former Exorcist
I swallowed the lump in my throat before speaking.
"Hello."
"It's understandable to be scared. I don't fault you, but I would appreciate it if you'd take a breath to try and control your emotions." Ken said in a firm yet caring tone of voice as I took a few breaths before speaking again.
"I'm sorry if I offended you sir. But I am a stranger in an unknown land, within the house of a branch of the Yakuza. So, I am a bit terrified for my life." I replied before he smiled.
"Again, your situation is understandable. My daughter acted a bit rashly. I fear I may have spoiled her a bit too much, and she tends to get herself into messes that I have to clean up." Ken said to me as I took in what he said and noticed that his daughter wasn't around. "She informed me of the conversation she had with you, and frankly she shouldn't have spoken to you in such a manner without my saying so. Rest assured she will be punished, however that doesn't leave us with the situation of what to do with you."
"I don't want to die." I told him frankly as he chuckled.
"Rest assured, if I wanted you dead, we wouldn't be talking right now. Besides, I don't want to deal with cleaning up foreigners' corpses and making some vague and convoluted story about your death in Kuoh. So, let me ask you something young man…Would you like to leave here and never return, or would you like to have a job?"
I thought about that question for a moment and considered leaving before I quickly realized that despite my moral conflicts with the Yakuza and gangs like it. I need to level up and get stronger so I can be prepared for whatever problems come at me in this world…Besides its not like there is anyone here to try and tell me to be a good boy for the sake of being good or anything…Oh my God. Batman, Superman and Captain America would be so disappointed in me right now.
"I need to work. I don't have anything to my name in this country." I told him with my head lowered in respect.
"Alright then. Starting now, you will be a member of the Steel Dragons. However, that is only if you can prove yourself to be worthy of becoming a member of the Yakuza. I will find you when the time comes, and you will be tested. I strongly advise you to prepare yourself physically and mentally for your upcoming trail by fire. If you fail, you will die. In our organization, strength is highly respected among the members." Ken explained calmly before I raised my head as a woman in a kimono brought over a tea set and poured tea for Ken and myself. "Drink."
I grabbed the ceramic cup and took a drink of the tea and honestly it wasn't bad. Ken took a long sip of the tea for himself before we both put the cups down.
"You're going to Kuoh Academy. It makes sense since you've moved so close to the school, so join one of the sports clubs and study hard. The things you learn in that school will help you overcome your trail." Ken said before I heard the two men behind me move closer. "Now you'll be escorted out of my home and taken to yours. Goodbye Vincent." Ken said as I was grabbed and taken outside and put back into the limo before they placed me back at the shopping district I was at previously before I was basically kidnapped.
[You've earned 1 Gacha token for surviving such a dangerous first experience in this new world.]
"I feel like you're insulting me, but I don't have the energy to complain right now. So, please just do the rolling." I told the game screen before I saw literal glowing cards in front of me.
Gacha Prizes
1x Wooden Dog Figure-Common
1x Crossbow-Common
15x Electronic Scrap-Common
"I got stuff I can't even use right now." I said with a groan of frustration before I just decided to start making my way home, and the minute I do I start trying to create a plan on how I can possibly survive some kind of extreme Yakuza test.
So, for the rest of the day I exercise and train myself with basic exercises until my body can't move anymore. It sucks but I need to train myself because I am not going to die in this weird world.

Ken POV
"Such a bizarre day." Ken said to himself as he just came out of the shower in a black towel in his room as he looked at his wife on the bed. A beautiful black-haired woman in red lacy lingerie, however across her stomach and reaching up her chest and stopping at her shoulder is a large slash shaped scar.
"Our daughter certainly knows how to scope out potential. For a kid without a sacred gear, his potential seems quite astounding." Ken said before his wife Miku spoke up.
"You do know her sacred gear allows her to scope out people, right?" Miku asked in a teasing manner before Ken sat next to his wife.
"I'm aware, but the problem is that she didn't think things through. Now we have to deal with an unknown variable if the boy survives the trail of demons."
"Do you think he stands a chance?" Miku asked while Ken sighed.
"I don't know, and honestly, I don't care all that much. I'm more concerned with how our daughter acted around the young man."
"Sounds like someone is getting overprotective." Miku teased before she hugged her husband from behind. "Our daughter is a smart cookie, so let her learn from her own mistakes honey."
"You're right, but she is still the next head of our family. I'm just concerned since she doesn't seem to even comprehend the level of importance that is placed upon her." Ken said before he turned to his wife and gave her a kiss on the lips.
"Well, you'll just have to make sure that she properly learns to take her role seriously. Not less talking and more baby making." Miku said before she pulled her husband down on top of her on the bed.

A/N: Okay another story that I've wanted to work on for a while. And that story is about a gamer with technology instead of going with the classic magic or Ki…Not that those things aren't awesome, but I don't think anyone ever does a Gamer with Tech other than The Dark Wolf Shiro, who is awesome.
Anyway, not much left to say other than I'm also taking some inspiration from the game Outward. So, please fav, follow and review.
