My name is Amelia Weathers. I'm 24 yrs old and after much debate, I'm going back to collage. I finished the basic courses after high school but left to help my parents start a business. Thus Weather Teck was born. We combined our knowledge of materials to find the perfect match for stringent, durability, usage, and weather resistance. My dad is the hardest person I've ever seen on clothes and accessories. Belts and hats don't usually last long for him but our homemade stuff is still working. It started small but now my parents run a small "factory" from their home and we're looking to expand. Which is why I'm looking to go back to school and why I'm staring at the University of Massachusetts sign.
I breathed a sigh and stepped into the building. My parents insisted I return to collage, asking that I receive a business degree at least, if I were seriously considering taking the company. I'm not complaining but collage life was pretty hectic the first time I went so I don't have high hopes for here either.
"Hi, I'm Amelia Weathers and I'm looking for the Deans office?" I smiled at the receptionist who seemed to light up at my name.
"Yes, Mrs. Weathers, the Dean has been expecting you. Please follow me." She led me down a large hallway to the left and into a waiting room. "Please sit, the Dean will see you soon." and she left. When the door clicked shut it felt like it took the sound with it. There was another girl sitting in the room but there were also two guys in black suits, obviously body guards, watching the room. Or most likely me now. I sat in the seat opposite of her, she had short brown hair and wore the school uniform but added a scarf. The door to the Deans office opened and he stepped out.
"Hello ladies, I'm sorry for the wait." We both stood and greeted the Dean. "I'm Dean Walter, if there is anything I can do to make your stay more comfortable please don't hesitate to ask. This is Ashley Graham, I asked her to show you around the collage today." I turned to Ashley with a smile.
"I'm Amelia Weathers." I greeted.
"Weathers? Like Weather Teck Weathers?" Ashley lit up.
"You know of Weather Teck?" I asked flabbergasted. Who knew the first person she'd meet would already know of her family's small company.
"Yes!" She squealed while grabbing her bag off the back of her chair, holding it up. To my surprise, she held up one of our over the shoulder bags. "I love this bag, its so durable and comfortable I can't use any other."
"I'm glad you like it." I smiled. "My dad actually designed that bag."
"Really? That's amazing! Please tell him I love it." She giggled.
"Well if you're done with introduction, it's probably best to be on your way. The day only lasts for so long." Dean Walter interjected. "It's a pleasure to welcome you to our college, have a pleasant evening ladies." and he exited back into his office before popping the door back open, "Oh and Amelia, you can find your schedule with Judy." The door clicked shut again.
"Come on, we should start with the tour." Ashley shouldered her bag and walked out into the hall. As we walked around the campus, Ashley would explain the buildings and some useless gossip like, how there's a rumor going around about the library being haunted. Ashley would tell her that she's pretty sure the moans are from couples hiding in the furthest rooms. After an hour of touring the campus, we ended at the cafeteria. Well, more like a mall food court. We were sitting eating our respective lunches when I noticed the same body guards sit at a table behind Ashley.
"Hey," I spoke softly, "Why do you have body guards?" I asked bluntly. Ashley seemed taken back but then started giggling.
She leaned forward and whispered "I'm the Presidents daughter." The expression on my face must've been amusing because she started giggling harder.
"The President?" I asked bewildered. "I'm sorry, that definitely seems like something I should know about our president but I haven't been in the political loop for a minute."
"No, it's ok. Honestly, it's nice knowing that. A lot of people try to befriend me to meet my dad." She said. She was smiling when she spoke but I could see the sadness in her eyes.
"I'm sure it adds a lot of stress to your life, not knowing whether or not you can trust a friend. I know we just met but I hope I could be a friend you can rely on." I gave a soft smile.
"Thank you, that means more than you know." She said almost more to herself. She smiled again and we went back to normal conversations. After we had our lunch, Ashley offered to take me to my apartment. I tried to decline but she insisted and basically drug me with her. We entered an elevator and headed to the basement parking. When the doors opened to the parking lot, a wave of anxiety washed over me. Something felt wrong. I held Ashley back and let the guards take the first steps off. As soon as they we're off, a swift kick knocked one guard into the other before a gunshot went off. Ashley screamed and I quickly pressed the L1 on the elevator. As it was closing, a hand shot through the doors causing them to open. Damn safety mechanism.
The door opened to reveal a large man with a huge scar on his face and a red beret. His build and face was incredibly intimidating for sure, which only made Ashley scream again. The man reached a hand out to grab Ashley but I quickly shot out a few jabs to his arm in hopes of hitting some pressure points but all it did was cause him to look at me. Damn men and their thick muscles.
"That did not work out as planned." I deadpanned. The guy quickly grabbed the front of my shirt and head-butted me, causing me to collapse, grabbing my head in pain. Ashley yelled my name and ran to my side by was quickly snatched up.
"Ashley!" my voice was shaky as I struggled to get off the floor. Ashley was grabbing and slapping at her assailants hand but it didn't even slow him. Ashley let out a howl of pain as he grabbed hold of her hair before shoving her into the back of a car. I was struggling to cross the few feet from the elevator to the car, my head still spinning. Just as I was about to collapse, I was grabbed by the back of my shirt and also thrown into the car. Immediately, my hands and feet were bound and a bag was put over my head, I could hear Ashley crying and someone was getting into the car.
"I got her." Was all that was said while I could feel the vehicle start driving away.
