" Mirabel, how- how did you get here?" Dolores asked.

" Well, I used my power to weaken Casita's power, allowing me to escape," Mirabel answered.

" Why did you come to me?" Dolores inquired.

" I can't fly, you know," Mirabel rejoindered.

" Well, okay, geez," Dolores muttered.

" Well, anyways, I got places to be and people to see, so… adios!"

With that, Mirabel left Dolores room and made her way to Isabela's. She knocked on the door. When there was no response, she knocked even harder.

" Hello? Hola? Halo? Anybody home?"

The door opened up a crack.

" Mirabel?"

" Yes, it's me. Are you gonna invite me in?"

Isabela opened the door and yanked Mirabel inside.

" How'd you escape?" she asked.

" I used my powers to weaken Casita, so I could escape. Only temporary. I had to come and see you." Mirabel told her.

" Why?" Isabela inquired.

" To apologize for how I acted earlier. I honestly don't know what came over me," Mirabel remarked.

" Well, I already forgave you," Isabela said.

" You did?"

" Yeah, you're my sister. I really care about you Mirabel. Which is why you should go."

" Actually, isn't that why I shouldn't go?" Mirabel asked.

" No, because if Abuela finds out you escaped, she might kick you out of Casita for good. I'd never see you again," Isabela explained.

" Oh, yeah, well I guess that makes sense. I guess I'll go. Bye."

" Goodbye, Mirabel."

Mirabel exited the room. When she turned around to leave, she bumped into someone. She saw that it was Camilo, who was rubbing his head. When he saw her, he gasped and opened his mouth to speak. Mirabel slammed him against the wall and put her hand over her mouth.

" Say one word about this and I'll drain you of all your magic. You'll be an outcast like me. You understand me?"

Camilo nodded. Mirabel roughly let him go. She glared at him before returning to her room.

" He's going to tell them," she muttered to herself.

And sure enough, when Mirabel came down for breakfast the next morning, Abuela was glaring at her. Mirabel calmly sat down. She had no reason to be afraid. If anything, they should be afraid of her. After all, she could drain them of all their magic if she wanted to.

" Mirabel, are you listening to me?" Abuela asked.

" Oh, no, I'm sorry. You were saying?"

" I was saying that I know you snuck out to see Isabela. She says you just wanted to talk, but I highly doubt that was the reason. I demand you to tell me."

" Or what?"

" Excuse me?"

" OR WHAT? You already have me locked up. You already have me alone and miserable. Everybody already hates me. Even Casita is against me. So, tell me… Alma… What can you possibly do? Kick me out of Casita? Fine, go ahead. No, I'll do you one better. I'll leave myself!"

Mirabel aggressively stood up and walked away.

" MIRABEL MADRIGAL! GET BACK HERE RIGHT NOW! MIRABEL! " DON'T IGNORE ME! MIRABEL MADRIGAL!"

Mirabel stuck out her middle finger while continuing to walk away.

" GRRRR! MIRABEEEEEEEEL!"

It had been a few hours since Mirabel had left. She was starting to regret it now. What if Isabela was right? What if they would never see each other again. But she couldn't go back. No, that wouldn't work. She would have to watch Isabela from afar. Make sure she is alright. Which is what she has been doing for the past hour or so. Okay, so she was a creep? So what? It's not like she cared. Isabela is the only one she cares about besides Antonio. She would do anything for her. Even murder.

" Hey, you're the tainted Madrigal!"

Mirabel swiftly turned around. Her childhood bullies, Tom and Luis were glaring down at her. Despite the fact that she probably should be, Mirabel did not feel scared. Not even when they cracked their knuckles and got ready to beat her up.

" Yeah, I'm the tainted Madrigal. Has a nice ring to it don't you think?"

Tom and Luis paused, confused at her reaction.

" What are you going to do about it? You think you can hurt me?" Mirabel asked.

" Well, yeah, your power can only damage the Madrigals," Tom answered.

" Are you sure about that?"

" Yeah!"

" Then, what are you waiting for, huh? Attack me!"

When they went to attack, Mirabel shot magic beams at them. They yelled in pain. Their skin began to crack. Their hair turned gray. Their breathing became rasping. And then… they dropped dead. Mirabel smirked.

" I guess I can drain life force too. Who woulda thought?"

Mirabel admired her work. So she was a monster huh? Cursed? Tainted? Maybe she should act the part. She could just kill her family, but that would be no fun. She wanted to watch them suffer. She wanted them to pay for what they did. And she would…. But, she would need a partner in crime. Someone to look out for her. Someone to plan with her. Who would that be is the question. She thought about Isabela. But then again, could she really trust Isabela with something this big? No, probably not.

Suddenly, something grabbed her ankle and yanked her upside down into the air. Mirabel noticed it was a vine. Then, she remembered. Isabela was in charge of guarding Casita today. True, Casita could protect herself, but she couldn't really do anything from over here. Anyways, Isabela must have heard the commotion.

" Who goes there?"

" Why the formality? I thought we were family?"

" Mirabel! But you ran away."

" And I came back, obviously."

Isabela looked down at the dead bodies.

" Did you?…"

" It was self defense."

" Why didn't you just knock them out or something?"

" I wasn't thinking about that! I was busy defending myself!"

Isabela aggressively threw her on the ground.

" Go before Abuela sees you," she demanded.

" Aw, are you mad that I left Casita?" Mirabel asked mockingly.

" As a matter of fact, I am," Isabela rejoindered.

" Well, if you want to be with me so much, then join me," Mirabel blurted.

" What!" Isabela gasped.

" I should not have said that," Mirabel remarked.

" You mean run away with you?" Isabela inquired.

" That… and help me destroy the miracle," Mirabel admitted.

" What! Why on Earth would I do that, Mirabel?"

" Because they don't care about us. They only care about the magic candle."

" Mirabel, do you even hear yourself right now?" Isabela asked.

" Why do you think they hate me, even after I got a gift? They're afraid I'll use my magic to destroy the miracle. And I wasn't until they betrayed me. They started this, I'm just finishing it," Mirabel said.

" I don't know, Mirabel," Isabela said hesitantly.

" Come on, Isa. I come back here for you. Let's run away together. I can set you free. We can go somewhere, someplace where there's no pressure to be perfect, where we can be ourselves, where we can do what we want. Let me help you," Mirabel pleaded.

Isabela looked like she was considering. Mirabel held out her hand. Isabela held out her hand, but didn't take Mirabel's.

" This doesn't seem like a good idea."

" We won't know until we try."

Isabela smiled.

" Okay, let's do it!"

With that, she took Mirabel's hand.

" And away we go," Mirabel said with a cheeky grin.
