Yu-gi-oh/RWBY Season 2 Chapter 3

The New Kid

"I don't understand, why can't I just march over there and kill Ruby Rose myself?" Placido demanded. "If I take her Crescent Rose now, the Crimson Dragon won't be able to interfere with our plan!" Lucciano laughed at Placido's arrogance. "Your little toy duelbot couldn't take her on before, what makes you think that you can now?" Placido was about to respond rather harshly when they heard a notification on the monitor. Another tablet had fallen from the sky. Lucciano, upon realizing that it was his, widened his smile. "Besides, it's my turn to shine."

...

Weiss and Whitley's transition to Arcadia Academy was smooth sailing after earning Winter's approval. Once classes officially started, they quickly became acclimated to their classes, made new friends, and even got top grades. As a result, they became quite popular. This became a point of worry for Whitley, as he was worried that they would start to attract 'friends' with unsavory intentions. They didn't want a repeat of what happened at Schnee Academy, after all.

"Oh, please. You worry too much." Weiss replied to today's objections from Whitley. "It's different here. Father isn't breathing down our necks and playing favorites. Besides, we can handle ourselves. I mean, what are they gonna do, kill us?" Weiss started to laugh at the idea as the two of them exited their classroom into the hallway. Her mockery of her brother's worrying was cut short when she bumped into an older classmate.

"My dearest apologies, madam." the classmate said as he tried to keep her from falling. Weiss, upon seeing him, had already 'fallen' in a sense as he was perhaps the cutest boy she had ever met. His red hair and ponytail especially did it for her. Whitley noticed her attraction as well, and after several attempts to break up the happy couple, went to go study in his dorm room.

It was roughly 10 pm when Weiss returned to their dorm, practically floating across the floor. Whitley's sullen frown finally broke her out of her trance. "Have fun?" he said, hoping she said no in the bad mood he was. "Oh, yes." Weiss sang. "Lester was an absolute gentleman, showing me around his magnificent mansion. He even has a butler! It was magical." "Whoop-de-doo." Whitley growled.

This caught Weiss' notice. "What's the matter?" she asked. "You were supposed to help me with a study session today, and blew me off for Mr 'Totally not suspicious' over there." Whitley ranted. This earned the biggest, smuggest grin from Weiss. "Why, Whitley Schnee, are you jealous?" Whitley, rather than answering, turned to his desk to work on his studies. "You are! You hate him, don't you?" Whitley refused to face his sister, refusing to admit that she was correct.

"Look, I get it. You think that any boy who flirts with me is going to kidnap me and sell me to some sex ring or something. But I'm telling you, Lester's different!" When Whitley still remained stubborn, Weiss had an idea. "Say, I'm visiting him again tomorrow. Why not join me? That way, you can make sure he's on the up and up." Whitley had to admit, that was a good idea. He finally faced his sister and gave a silent nod.

...

The next day, Weiss and Whitley arrive at Lester's mansion, the extravagance of which did nothing to soothe Whitley's nerves. When they entered through the front door after being buzzed in to be allowed past the gate, Lester welcomed Weiss with a charming smile, then turned to Whitley with a cold look. "I thought it was going to be just the two of us, Miss Schnee." "This is my brother Whitley." Weiss answered. "He's a little suspicious of you, so I thought it would be best if you two finally met and got along." The two boys met and shook hands, trying and failing to hide their resentment of each other.

After the uncomfortable silence has settled in, Weiss tries to break it up. "So Lester, you wanted to show me something?" What does he want to show you? Whitley thinks. "Ah, yes. How could I forget?" Lester replies as he snaps his fingers, summoning his butler from the top of the stairs. "Oh, Jeeves. We'll be headed to the back. Would you be a dear and bring my gift over?" As the three left, "Jeeves" suppressed the urge to kill "Lester", but remembered the plan and went along to do as ordered.

Once the three were outside, "Jeeves" brought out the big surprise; a futuristic-looking skateboard, which he presented to Weiss. "A duel board, one of my family's latest inventions. Technically, this isn't supposed to be out yet, but I won't tell if you won't." Lester explained as Weiss tried it on, as well as various safety gear. She spent the next hour trying the duel board out, as Lester and Whitley kept trying to be civil and kept failing miserably. Eventually the twins left home, with Weiss appreciating her new gift.

...

"I'm aware that Weiss is an adult and can make her own decisions, but I still can't shake the feeling that he's up to something." Whitley continued as Ruby wondered what she did to deserve being stuck here, listening to his rant. After a little while, she felt that she needed to cut it short, as she was wanting to get home. "Look, Whitley. I get that you want to help your sister out, but maybe you should try to be a little more open-minded about...what was his name again?"

"Lester." Whitley spat out, as if his mouth now needed to be washed out for saying the word. Ruby, on the other hand, was suspicious herself. "I don't remember any Lester in the school." "You're sure?" Whitley asked. "Red hair, a dumb ponytail, all the girls swarming him like flies?" Ruby searched her memories of all the applications and examinations, but shook her head. "I would remember someone like that. Maybe I should meet this Lester myself. Where is he now?"

...

Lester happened to be on the highway with Weiss, both of them getting ready with their duel boards. As Whitley and Ruby appeared in the distance, Lester decided it was time to accelerate the schedule. He snapped his fingers, and suddenly, Weiss's duel board activates, locking her feet on. "Lester? What's happening?" she asks, worried.

Lester laughs as the two ride out against her will. His body then seems to shimmer and distort before revealing a white robe. "It's Lucciano, actually. And it's time I got rid of you!" He said as he tossed out several gold bars that made a duel disk out of energy. On it he activated Speed World 2 which activated itself on Weiss's duel disk as well.

"Riding Duel, acceleration!"

"I'll go first." Lucciano boasted. "I draw! I summon Wave Barrier." A machine covered in a force field. (Level 3/0) "While Wave Barrier is out, no monsters can attack, except Synchro monsters. I then set 3 cards face-down and end my turn." Weiss found that suspicious, but wanted to waste no time taking him out for betraying her feelings like that. She'd also have to apologize to Whitley later for doubting him, but now was not the time. "I draw!" (Lucciano 0-1, Weiss 0-1) "If I control no monsters, I can summon White Glass Cloud from my hand!" (Level 1/0).

Ruby and Whitley, seeing that things were already looking bad, followed as best as they could. "Come on," Whitley demanded of his duel runner. "Join up with them already." "It won't work." Ruby explained. "We have to be close enough to join in, and they're too fast. We're just going to have to hope for the best." Whitley didn't like this feeling of hopelessness, but acknowledged that there was nothing that they could do for now.

"I then summon White Glass Princess!" Weiss continued, bringing out her tuner monster. (Level 3/1500) "With her effect, I can copy a monster you control." The princess waves her wand, creating an illusory double of Wave Barrier. (Level 3/0). "I now tune my level 3 White Glass token and level 1 White Glass Cloud with my level 3 White Glass Princess! Your perfect scales capture the light of hope. Now, descend and defend us all! Synchro summon! Appear, White Glass Dragon!" (Level 7/0)

Lucciano laughed at Weiss. "You think you're safe? You think your signer dragon will protect you? I activate my face-down, Exus Summon! I can return a monster I control to the hand to summon another monster from my hand. I summon Sky Core!" A small robotic core appeared like the Wise Core that Ruby fought earlier. (Level 1/0).

Ruby noticed the resemblance and used the communication function on her duel disk. "Weiss, whatever you do, don't destroy it by a card effect!" Weiss had no time to use such advice as Lucciano continued. "I then activate Torrential Tribute! Since a monster was just summoned, I can destroy all monsters on the field!" A wave poured through the street, threatening to destroy both of their monsters. "I use the effect of my White Glass Gloss! By discarding it, my White Glass monsters can't be destroyed this turn!" A small pixie appeared and put out its hands, causing the water to split, sparing White Glass Dragon. Weiss realized that his monster was destroyed as well.

"Now, as you might have guessed, when Sky Core is destroyed, it summons a new monster!" A light shot out from the destroyed monster, showing 5 different monsters. "May I present Skiel Top," (Level 1/600) "Skiel Attack," (Level 1/1000) "Skiel Guard," (Level 1/200) "Skiel Carrier," (Level 1/400) "and Machine Emperor Skiel Infinity!" (Level 1/0-2200) The 5 monsters combined to make another robotic form like Wisel, but this time resembling a bird or drone.

Ruby looked on in horror, realizing what was going to happen if it wasn't stopped. She and Whitley redoubled her efforts to catch up so that she could join in. Weiss, meanwhile, was figuring out her options. Okay Weiss, think. If it's like the thing Ruby told me about, it will absorb my monster next turn. Luckily White Glass Dragon can defend itself from that sort of effect, but I suspect he knows that. I better put up some extra protection. "I set 1 card face-down and end my turn."

Lucciano giggled. "I'll destroy you," his expression suddenly darkens. "and your filthy synchro monster. I draw!" (Lucciano 1-2, Weiss 1-2) "I activate my face-down Trap Stun! Your silly little trap will be offline this turn." Weiss's face-down card appears only to have chains appear around it, holding it down. "Now you have a choice to make. Your monster or yourself? I attack White Glass Dragon with Skiel Infinity!" Skiel fires an energy beam from the gun on its tail towards the signer dragon.

Not good, Ruby thought. If she uses White Glass Dragon's effect to stop the attack, there will be nothing stopping him from absorbing it after the battle phase. But if she doesn't, she'll take a huge amount of damage and be defenseless. Weiss, on the other hand, was not as scared. "I activate the effect of White Glass Window from my hand, special summoning it and redirecting the attack to itself." An illusory version of Skiel appears to block the attack. (Level 1/0-2200)

Lucciano grits his teeth but regains his smirk. "Oh well. There's always next turn, where you won't be so lucky. I set a card and end my turn." Weiss took a deep breath and calmed down. She had this. She just had to have this or else… "I draw!" (Lucciano 2-3, Weiss 2-3) "I summon White Glass Framer." (Level 4/0) "I then tune my level 1 White Glass Window with my level 4 White Glass Framer! Appear, O valiant warrior, charge through and vanquish all your foes! Synchro Summon! Appear, White Glass Knight!" A stained glass painting of a knight on horseback appeared, with the knight charging out of the painting to join the duel. (Level 5/2300) "When White Glass Knight is synchro summoned, you take damage equal to the combined level of all White Glass monsters in my graveyard times 100!" All of Weiss's monsters from her graveyard appeared and charged at Lucciano. (Lucciano 4000-3000)

"Now, White Glass Knight, attack Skiel Infinity with Diamond Sword!" Weiss commanded as the knight charged forth. "I activate the effect of my Skiel Guard to negate your attack." Lucciano replies as Skiel lets out a wave that blocks the attack. Weiss smiles at this. "Just what I was waiting for. I activate my face-down Mirror Inversion! Now all our monsters have their attack and defense switched until the end of the turn!" Lucciano gasps as all the monsters have their colors inverted. (Skiel Top 600-0) (Skiel Attack 1000-0) (Skiel Guard 200-300) (Skiel Carrier 400-0) (Skiel Infinity 2200-300) (White Glass Dragon 0-3000) (White Glass Knight 2300-1800)

"Alright!" Whitley cheered. "Now he's defenseless." "Go, Weiss!" Ruby added as Weiss looked to them and nodded before continuing the duel. "White Glass Dragon, attack with Mirror Breath!" The dragon prepared to attack. Lucciano stopped feigning despair and smirked. "Fool. I activate my face-down Fiendish Chain!" Several chains sprout up and ensnare White Glass Dragon. "Now it can't attack and its effects are negated." Weiss reacts to the pain the dragon is feeling, and glares at Lucciano. "I end my turn." (Skiel Top 0-600) (Skiel Attack 0-1000) (Skiel Guard 300-200) (Skiel Carrier 0-400) (Skiel Infinity 300-2200) (White Glass Dragon 3000-0) (White Glass Knight 1800-2300) "Why are you even doing this in the first place? What have I or Ruby ever done to you?"

Lucciano stares at Weiss, his smile long gone. "It's not what you've done, but what you're going to do." The three signers all react in confusion as to what that could possibly mean. "I draw!" (Lucciano 3-4, Weiss 3-4) "Now you are helpless as I use Skiel Infinity's effect to absorb your White Glass Knight!" Several energy beams erupt from Skiel's chest to wrap around White Glass Knight, before dragging it helpless into the machine's core. Mistress, help me! It cried to no avail. (Skiel Infinity 2200-4500) "Now, wipe out her and her precious dragon!" The machine releases a great energy wave from its tail, destroying White Glass Dragon. (Weiss 4000-0)

The force of the blast knocks Weiss off the highway, sending her falling towards the street below. Whitley calls out for her, but his concern is short-lived as a familiar call is heard from the sky. The Crimson Dragon appears and grabs Weiss, gently setting her down. Lucciano, noticing this, takes this time to escape as Ruby and Whitley race down to the streets and get to Weiss while the Crimson Dragon disappears. "I'm sorry, Whitley. I should have listened to you." Weiss says as Whitley embraces her. "I'm just glad you're okay." He replies. Meanwhile, Ruby worries about what they just witnessed and makes an important realization; they aren't strong enough for this, and they need some solution to this problem, fast. Little did she know that that solution was watching her from afar.

...

"You failed your mission, Lucciano." Placido taunts. "She's still alive, and now they know a little more about us." Lucciano remains unfazed by his words. "Unlike you, "Jeeves", I actually managed to win my duel. Besides, the point wasn't to kill her, though that would have been a nice little bonus. It was all part of phase 2, wasn't it, Jose?" They both turned to their leader who nodded in agreement. "Yes. This was an intelligence-gathering mission. Now we know that the Crimson Dragon resides strongest in her. This will make things easier going forward. Now for phase 3."
