Yu-Gi-Oh/RWBY Season 2 Chapter 4

Evolution's Dawn

She was driving along, facing her opponent as she had just synchro summoned Crescent Rose Dragon. Her dragon shot through her opponent's monster when it was revealed to be Wise Core, thus summoning Wisel Infinity, which absorbed not just her dragon, but her as well. The scene shifts to show Skiel absorbing White Glass Knight, Weiss, and everyone else she had failed to save, including her mother.

...

Ruby woke up in a cold sweat, unable to calm herself down. It had happened again. The same dream. She hated that feeling of helplessness. So she decided to wake Yang up. It's not like she could just go back to sleep anyway.

...

The two were on the highway, turbo dueling and Yang wasn't a fan of what Ruby was doing. Ruby kept just playing around with weird defensive strategies and odd plays, using new cards she didn't have before. Eventually, Yang decided to stop the duel and her duel runner, forcing Ruby to do the same. "What the heck, Yang? We need to keep going!"

"Not until you tell me what you're even doing." Yang demanded. "What was all that? You were completely off." Ruby thought about it a little, and finally decided to tell her sister. "I was trying to find a way to win without synchro summoning." Yang blinked, at first unable to process what she just heard, but then realized why Ruby said that. "Because of the machine emperors, right?" Ruby nodded.

"Well, you should get that thought out of your head. If we're going to win, it won't be like this." Yang stated. "What?" Ruby blurted out, shocked at what she just heard. "Why not?" "Because then we'd be admitting that we're scared, that whoever this enemy is, can just push us around!" "I am scared! I'm terrified out of my mind!" Ruby realized she was yelling, and calmed herself.

"If we don't win like this, then how do we win?" Yang couldn't answer. "HOW?" "I DON'T KNOW!" Yang shouted. "I don't know. But not like this. Not by throwing away who we are." With that, Yang got back on her duel runner and drove back home. Ruby, still not satisfied, also got on her duel runner, but continued to ride on the highway.

After a few minutes, Ruby heard someone coming up behind her. Yang? But it didn't sound like it. That engine didn't sound like the Phoenix Whirlwind. Then was it the new enemy? Ruby had little time to speculate as her follower sped right past her and stopped almost on a dime. She couldn't believe what she was looking at. The duel runner itself seemed to have the front section lifted up into the air by some kind of levitation technology, and the back was a wheel with no clear parts.

The driver themselves was also a rare sight. She was wearing a black and green race-suit, and her head was covered in a similar helmet. "Ruby Rose," the newcomer said in an electronic voice. "As you are now, you'll never beat your enemy." This snapped Ruby out of her trance. "Who are you?" "You may call me Visor. I will show you a new evolution that will help you defeat the Machine Emperors. But first," she readied her duel runner. "You have to prove that you can keep up."

Ruby put her helmet on and readied her own duel runner. The two were off, with Ruby expecting Visor to slow down so they could sync up and start the duel, but that apparently wasn't the case. Okay, so it'll be a race first. Ruby pushed her duel runner to its limit, trying her best to keep up with the mystery duelist.

After a certain point, Visor snapped into a corner, making the turn with ease despite her high speed. Ruby, on the other hand, didn't have as much luck, and had to brake to not crash. This caused Visor to look at Ruby with a look that, despite the helmet obscuring her face, clearly expressed disappointment. "Pathetic. If you can't handle this, maybe you should install training wheels on that thing." She turned her duel runner around instantly. "Again." She commanded as she breezed past Ruby and made the same corner.

Ruby, desperate to find out what this Visor was offering, turned around as well and tried even harder to maintain her speed on the corner. Despite having to lean her duel runner so far that it was dragging against the ground at some points, she managed it, and earned an approving nod from Visor. "Better. Now we can begin." The two synced up their duel runners and activated Speed World 2, starting the duel.

"Riding Duel, Acceleration!"

Visor suddenly eased back, letting Ruby take the lead. "The solution I provide has 3 requirements. The first is speed, which you have demonstrated, though just barely. Now, take your first turn." Ruby wondered what the other 2 requirements could be, but drew her card as expected of her. "I send a plant from my hand to the graveyard to summon Rose Synchron in defense mode!" A cartoonish machine with vines over it appeared. (Level 2/1600) "I then summon Petal Shooter!" (Level 4/1800) "I activate Petal Shooter's effect to deal 500 damage to you in exchange for Petal Shooter being unable to attack." (Visor 4000-3000) "I end my turn."

Visor drew her card silently. (Visor 0-1, Ruby 0-1) "Since you control a monster and I don't, I can summon Tech Genus Striker from my hand." A mechanical man in lime power armor appears. (Level 2/800) "Then, since I just summoned a level 4 or lower monster, I can summon Tech Genus Warwolf from my hand!" A cybernetic werewolf appears. (Level 3/1200) "I now tune my level 3 Tech Genus Warwolf with my level 2 Tech Genus Striker! Limit release, Level 5! Boosters level 120%! Recovery network range activated! All clear! Go! Synchro Summon! Come on! Tech Genus Power Gladiator!" A large man in green power armor carrying a huge axe appears. (Level 5/2300)

More synchro summoning? Ruby thought. But how will that beat the Machine Emperors? "I then normal summon Tech Genus Cyber Magician!" A short man in futuristic robes appears. (Level 1/0) "Cyber Magician can synchro summon using 1 non-tuner from my hand. So I will tune my level 4 Tech Genus Rush Rhino in my hand with my level 1 Tech Genus Cyber Magician!" A cybernetic rhino-man appears only to be tuned by Cyber Magician. "Limit release, Level 5! Booster launch, OK! In-creation, OK! Ground support, all clear! Go! Synchro Summon! Come on! Tech Genus Wonder Magician!" A woman with flowing pink hair and futuristic fairy-like clothing appeared. (Level 5/1900)

"Now, Power Gladiator, attack her Rose Synchron!" The gladiator rushes forward and slices the machine in two with one slice. "Power Gladiator can also deal piercing battle damage." (Ruby 4000-3300) Ruby would not be left behind. "When a monster I control is destroyed, I can summon Revival Rose from my graveyard." A three-headed rose grows out of the corpse of Rose Synchron. (Level 4/1300)

"Wonder Magician, attack Petal Shooter with Machine Light Sorcery!" The magician fires several balls of light from her hat, pelting Petal Shooter. (Ruby 3300-3200) "I end my turn. Now, all the pieces are in place. I can finally show you the solution you've longed for. All you need to do is take your turn." Ruby overlooked the field with a puzzled expression. Is this the solution? Summon 2 synchro monsters so if one is taken, you still have another? But then they could just take the stronger one and run the other one over. I'm missing something.

"I draw!" (Visor 1-2, Ruby 1-2) "I summon Rose Girl!" (Level 3/800) "I tune my level 4 Revival Rose with my level 3 Rose Girl! The bloom of evolution blazes forth. Grow and grow ever stronger! Synchro summon! Appear, Crescent Rose Dragon!" (Level 7/2400) "When Crescent Rose is synchro summoned, I can destroy 1 card on the field. Go, destroy Power Gladiator with Petal Shot!" The dragon readied its tail and shot an energy beam towards the gladiator. Well, if you have a solution, now's the time. Ruby thought anxiously.

Visor accelerated her duel runner faster and faster, until eventually she and her monsters seemed to vanish in a flash of light, causing Crescent Rose's shot to miss. Ruby gasped in surprise, but had little time to wonder where they went as she heard a booming sound behind her. She turned around to see Visor emerging from a portal with a new monster in a green power-suit, holding a cannon. (Level 10/3300) "I present Tech Genus Blade Blaster, an Accel Synchro monster, made from other synchro monsters."

Accel Synchro...Ruby thought. She shook her head, remembering she was still in a duel. "I banish Petal Shooter from my graveyard to increase Crescent Rose's attack. Crescent Evolution!" (Crescent Rose Dragon 2400-4200) "Crescent Rose, attack Blade Blaster with Red Rose Flare!" The dragon fired a stream of red destruction towards the new monster. Blade Blaster responded by vanishing out of thin air. "Blade Blaster can banish itself until the end phase during your turn. Another means of escaping the Machine Emperor's grasp." Visor explained. "Then attack Visor directly!" Ruby replied. Crescent Rose fired another shot at Visor, this one connecting. (Visor 3000-0)

As the two stopped, Ruby asked "Why did you banish your monster? That let me beat you." "Because I don't want to give away all of Accel Synchro's secrets just yet." Visor explained. "The first 2 requirements are speed and the proper cards. The final requirement is Clear Mind. A state of no thoughts, no emotions, just a sheer focus and the stubborn will to achieve your objective. Until you can meet these three requirements, Accel Synchro will forever elude you. Farewell, Ruby Rose." With that, Visor shot off like a blur. As the sun rose in the distance, Ruby felt changed by what she saw. She would now pursue this new evolution; Accel Synchro.
