"Gotcha!"
The ball burnt as it slammed into Seth's shoulder, shoving him back. He stumbled to catch himself. His legs threatened to give out as they wobbled like jello. Osiris.. spun? Or was it just his head? The young God raced toward him with a blissful grin shining on his face. 'Oh brother' Seth thought as he quickly ran his hands trough his messy hair. Osiris clasped his shoulders. Seth went stiffer than a wall.
"Seth, get your head into the game!" Osiris playfully reprimanded, raising a brow. "What are you doing just standing around?"
Seth gulped. Osiris stepped back. He rubbed his hands together quickly and spun on his heel. Seth's chin clung to his chest. His shoulders curled inward as he sunk. The urge to dig a hole and lay down and die and so strong it could whack him in the face. Osiris swept up the ball. Dust kicked up around it.
He tossed it up. Seth looked up at it. It flew through the air with lightning speed before Osiris caught it flawlessly with his other hand. Again- Whoosh! It flew so high the deep blue sky swallowed it. Osiris raised one finger. Seth bit his lip. He swallowed his heart. The thing raced back down, a trail of fire blazed behind it.
Seth's arms flew in front of his face as he stumbled back. Osiris rested his free hand on his hip before the thing calmed like a still ocean the moment it met his finger. "What are you guys doing over there?" A soothing voice stopped Seth's heart from bursting out of his chest. Seth stood up and cleared his throat. Blush spread across his cheeks like wildfire.
Isis snatched the ball from Osiris with a competitive grin. He laughed happily. She tossed it up and caught it. Seth's eyes shot wide. His heart tumbled into his stomach. There she was. Make a good impression in 3.. 2—"Oh, us?" Seth's voice broke into awkward chuckles. "We're just.. uh, playing ball." Osiris' eyes widened a bit. He gave a quick and understanding nod.
"Yeah, it's a lot of fun!" Osiris said excitedly. "He's winning!"
He gestured loosely at Seth, who nodded frantically. She pressed her lips together and looked away. "You?" She lightheartedly ridiculed. Seth sighed. He rubbed his elbow hard. Isis walked over. Osiris stepped back. Being in front of her was like standing in front of the sun in all her majesty. His chest lightened as his heart beat in his head.
She held up the ball and nodded encouragingly. Seth looked up at her. The two locked eyes for a split second. It felt as if he'd been caught up in a tornado's winds. His gaze retreated quicker than he'd looked at her. "Your face is redder than a beet."
".. Is it….?"
Isis chuckled vibrantly. Her voice was so colorful… Seth coughed. "Set?"
"-..Yea?" He hesitated.
"Do you wanna play?"
"You should do it! It'll be fun!" Osiris waved a little ways away.
Isis nodded encouragingly. Isis gently set the ball in his hands-He'd raised them? "Okay, you just.. throw it." She said quietly (and a bit dismissively) with a little shrug. Seth slowly nodded. Isis walked a good distance in front of him and stopped. She gestured for him to toss it. Seth's arms turned to hundred pound weights. "You can do it, Seth!" Osiris cried. Isis nodded again.
Seth's head spun like a whirlwind. His racing heart surrounded him. His ribs tightened around his lungs as he could barely squeeze out a-
The ball gave one last pathetic bounce before rolling in front of Isis' feet. "You got it that far! Who knows what you can do if you put your all into it!" Osiris was overly enthusiastic . Seth looked around the empty.. field, was it? A few buildings were strewn around behind it. Less people to see his failure. Clouds billowed past from the green cliffs behind the rolling sand hills, low enough to hit them.
Isis picked up the ball. "Alright, Seth!" She said a bit dismissively. "Brace yourself!" Seth nodded a bit frantically. Isis reeled back, clutching the ball. Seth gulped. His heart tumbled deeper into his gut before—the ball shot toward his face. A trail of fire sparked behind it. Seth's jaw dropped. His eyes widened and-
It all went black.
