Chapter 8

The door creaks open and my worst nightmare steps in.

He leans against the doorframe smirking at me. He begins to say something but is interrupted by footsteps coming up the stairs. A few seconds later my mother is standing behind him. Never have I ever been so happy to see her.

"What was that about?" My mother asks.

"Nothing. We just forgot about duties back at school. I also need to be heading back to school." She says thinking quickly on her feet, desperately trying to get away. "Will you drive me to the train station?"

"Right now? It can wait until tomorrow. Why didn't you both leave together?"

"He was anxious to get started. I didn't think about it until he just brought it up. I can still catch tonight's train if we leave now." She continues, hurriedly packing her things.

"Hermione you're being ridicul-" Her mother starts.

Finn interrupts with a smile, "Don't worry Mom. I'll drive her. I don't mind."

Her mother smiles, "Thanks Finn. That would be great."

Hermione pales, "You know you're right Mom. It can wait until tomorrow when you can drive me."

Her mother throws her hands up in the air, "You're driving me insane child. Just go with Finn. Leave. Fucking lunatic Jesus." She mutters leaving the room.

Finn smirks, "Come on sis. I'll help you with your bags."

She shutters when he shuffles past her to pick up her things. She follows him downstairs where she says goodbye to her parents.

They're both silent the car ride there but when they approach the station she can see the train to Hogwarts leaving.

"No!" She shouts.

Finn chuckles, "Don't worry. I'll drive you."

"It's a long drive," she says nervously.

"No worries I don't mind." He insists

She nods. Nothing could happen in a car. They'd just be driving. It was okay. She was okay.

It was almost 3 in the morning by the time they arrived at Hogwarts.

Her heartbeat quickens at the anticipation of being so close to safety. She was almost an adult and she'd never have to see her family again. Just a few more steps.

She quickly jumps from the car and grabs her bag. A stone drops in her stomach when she hears the other door open and footsteps approach.

She whips around and finds herself face to face with Finn. "Were you gonna leave without giving your brother a goodbye kiss?"

Quickly he grabs my neck and forces a kiss on my mouth sloppily. I push him away forcefully, dropping my bag on the gravel. The cool night air sends a shiver down my spine. Or maybe that's just him.

He pushes me to the ground and my face scratches against the gravel. I wince, writhing against him.

He knees me down, "Stop being difficult. I just wanna spend quality time with my sister."

She brings her knee up between his thighs. She was done taking it. She was a witch and she was strong. He should be afraid of her. Not the other way around.

He fell off her momentarily. But it was enough. She jumped up and started sprinting. She ran up the grass trying to get to the side doors. She was tackled to the ground and before she could catch her breath, a strong fist collided with her face. Her cheek exploded in pain.

She flails on the grass desperately trying to be free from his grasp. She screams loudly, hoping someone would hear her.

A hand wraps around her throat squeezing roughly. "Fucking bitch. Shut up."

She chokes, clawing at his hand. Stars cloud her vision and her head throbs. Just before she passes out, he releases and she gasps unevenly. Before she can catch her breath, he grips her hair and slams her head into the ground. White hot pain shoots up her neck into her skull.

Everything looks blurry now and she can't think straight. Hands touch her and claw at her clothing but she can't seem to make her body push them away.

No. She can't let him do this again. Despite her throbbing head, she manages to flip herself over and crawl away as fast as she can. She doesn't make it far before her ankles are grabbed and dragged her back.

Still on her stomach, her pants are pulled down and the thing she had been trying so hard to prevent...happens yet again.

She doesn't know how much time passes before he gets up.

Get up. Fight.

But she can't. Her body hurts. She's so weak.

She manages to push herself up and pull her ripped pants up despite the blood rushing down her legs.

"You just don't stop do you?" Finn snarls.

He pushes her forcefully against the stone wall and as she falls to the ground, he kicks her hard in the ribs.

"I'm leaving. Love you sis." He smirks.

As his form retreats in the distance, her vision crawls with darkness and she's overwhelmed with pain until she blacks out on the grass.
