Chapter 2 Blue:Found
It was a dark day over Vale as piles of bodies literred the streets. Most of which are the citizens of Vale who layed their cold and lfieless. Some of which who are Atlas soldiers along with a few desprados in the mix as well. Then footsteps could be heard running down the street. Marrow and Harriett sprinted through the streets looking at the carnage before them..
As marrow sprinted down the streets he say something that sicken him to his core. Several people lined up against a wall with bullet holes behind them. He stoped for a second clenching his fist as he stared at what he was seeing.
The White Fang must have made a firing sqaud or something. But they could have used the robots they brought to do this as well. Hariett looked a the wolf faunus as he clenched his fist in anger at the sight.
Their in the group was a mix of civilians human and faunus. But one stuck out to him was just a little girl who layed their dead on the ground clutching a man hand. She looked to be maybe five years old and her eyes were still and wide open staring back at him. Her head had a hole in it probably a rifle cratiage or pistol caritage.
But that didn't matter because she just layed their dead on the ground. In her hands she seemed to be holding tightly to a small fluffy pink teddy bear. Marrow expression soon changed to sadness as he went over to a nearby destoreyd stall.
He grabbed what was left of a sheet and slowly made his way over to the bodie. Marrow threw the clothe over the father and his daughter. He covered them making sure no one saw that little girl face. He then sighed closing his eyes as he knelt on one knee.
Footsteps could be heard walking next to him but he stood their silently for a bit. Then he felt someone put a hand on his shoulder softly. He looked up at Hariett who closed her eyes as they sat their sieltnly for a bit praying for them. But then Marrow got up looking toward his comrade.
"Lets find the kid then we gotta head to the ship to evac"Marrow said with determination and Hariett nodded in response
Meanhile as this happened Akasha and Xander stethily avoided the grimm around them. Akasha went first but before she did she touched a wall xander. Then a purple like circle appeared on it. Their was nothing you could see from the other side.
Akasha paced herself as she made sure with each step to slowly walk across the street. Along with keeping her emotion in check. She kept a stoic face and stepped over some glass shards slowly. As she did a few grimm were down the street.
They had their backs turned to them luckily and Akasha was thankful for that. Xander watched from a distance as if anything happened he would get involved. He gripped his hookblade tightly as he watched Akasha move quickly and quietly through the streets.
Then she finally got to another alleway as she placed her other hand on the wall as a blue portal appeared on it. Where Xander was he looked through the purple and looked at Akasha. He swiftly jumped through and was behind her as Akasha looked down the street.
"Ok where do we go next?"xander asked quietly.
Akasha thought for a moment where they were. If she recalled they were close to the market district it would just be going through these alleyways for a bit. Then the two would be their and they could search for any survivors left.
"Alright we go through this alleyway and we'll be their in maybe five minutes. Then we got ten minutes to search for anyone then make our way back. Got it"Akasha replied quietly with Xander nodding to her.
The two kept going down through alleyway and alleyway. As they did Xander looked a little nervous as they passed by several dead boides. He saw grimm eating them but he had to remain calm. If he didn't those grimm would swarm them. They can sense emotion but hes trying his hardest to keep his composer.
Hariet and Marrow finally got to the market district and began looking around for Zane. As they did Marrow sniffed the air a little. Marrow tried to see he could find the kids by his smell. But all he could smell was a putrid smell.
So many dead where in the streets along with the smoke in the air. This made the place smell awful and it didn't help with his heightened sense of smell and hearing. The two kept jogging through the market until they ended up in a large courtyard like area.
They looked around to see several small stalls destroyed and building with holes him them. Brick,stone and wood littered the ground. Most of which was either destroyed into a fine dust or split in half.
Hariet began walking around until she stepped on something that made a clanking sound. She looked under her foot to see a sword broken in half. Hariet picked it up exmianing it and it seems to be recent maybe.
"Hey marrow you think the kid used this?"Hariett asked as she tossed the sword to Marrow. Marrow fumbled the sword a little almost dropping it onto his foot. But he caught it and looked at Hariett with an annoyed look.
"Okay seriously that racist I may have heighten sense of smell. But i'm no bloodhound"Marrow said staring at Hariett.
"Look i'm sorry but the quicker we find him. The quicker we leave this place. This isn't looking good and we need to pull out"hartieet said crossing her arms under her bust.
Marrow rolled his eyes as he looked at the blade. He sniffed it a little a familiar sense came to him. The faunus looked around a little as he tried to see where the smell was. As he did he looked toward an alleyway and his eyes widden.
Hariett noticed his change in expression and turned her head to where he was staring at. As she did her face dropped a little as she relzied what he was staring at. Their in an alleyway was who they were looking for.
The two slowly made their way over to check out the bodie. Along with seeing that if he might be alive. Their footsteps echoed as it was quiet out. Except for the occasionally grimm howl and roar in the distance.
The two finally got close to the kid and their he was laying their still leaning against the wall dead. Marrow just sighed as he covered his eyes rubbing them. They didn't make it in time and now the kid is dead.
Hariett knelt down looking at his injuries. She studied them for a bit and she was honestly surprised the kid lasted this long. His right leg had a large stab wound on it. Seems to have gone through as she examined it. His armor was torn to shreds as his left chest armor piece was left. It was cracked and it barely hanged on.
Along with his left shirt sleeve being torn open revealing some bruising on his bicep. His hands were covered in blood and his left arm was wrapped around his stomach. She looked at the stab wound on the kid and that must of been what did him in.
But she looked at the picture in his hand. Hariet got close to it but didn't remove it. She didn't want to disrespect the kids corpse. Hariett studied it and relized it was that wolf girl from menagerie with two others.
Although the Atlas Specilaist pieced it together pretty quickly on who they were. His teammates and she just sighed in disappointment at this.
"Seems we found him….dammit."Marrow said shaking his head as his tail slowly swayed.
"Yeah….but why did he have to go and kill himself. "Hariett begun looking at the kid who layed dead in front of them.
"Ironwood wanted us to sedate him, hes lucky that penny father could rebuild her. But…he didn't know that. "Hariet said standing up.
"I know Hariett but the kid must have thought he was a monster or something"Marow added as Hariett shook her head agreeing with him.
"Seems so…at least he at peace now. "Hariett said a little upset they couldn't save the kid. But Ironwood told them if they found his corpse they need to call in it. She reached for her earpiece to do it but put her figner back down.
Marrow slowly raised his finger up to his ear to make a call.
"I'll call a recovery team to come and grab him. Ironwood wants him sent back so they could see what they can use against those grimm knights"Marrow said.
As he was ready to make the call hariett put her arm on his hand where his earpiece was. Marrow looked at his comrade who looked at him shaking her head. He slowly removed his finger and stared down at the bodie.
"We shouldn't call it in…..maybe tell the huntsman where his bodie is. Then he can be sent back to his family for a proper burial"Hariett begun as she knelt down again looking at Zane face.
"Hareitt we need to follow order, Ironwood will get pretty mad if we don't recover his body"Marrow added but seemed to flinch at the suggestion.
Hariett sighed then looked at him"say that we found him but their was nothing left of him beyond recover . Also hes been through enough experiments. Last thing we should do is continue what that madman did. "Hariett said as Marrow nodded.
"Alright….i'll call it on the way back. Lets go"Marrow said.
Hariett was about to get up before he stared at the kids eyes. She moved her hand over them closing them for him. The least someone could do to give him some respect. The two then continued to make their way back camp. Ready to leave the city because they lost it.
Inside a dark place that was barely filled with light. Their was water on the ground and it rippled with each step. The water was dark and you could barely see it. But in the middle of this place was a small ball of light.
Footsteps echoed with the water rippling as they took each step. Zane was walking through this place wondering were he was exactly. Was this the afterlife or purgatory or something. As he walked he noticed how the place was devoid of light except for the ball of light in the center.
"Alright this is weird, where the hell am I?"zane asked hismelf as he walked closer to the ball of light.
Soon enough the ball fo light moved a little and Zane was startled by this. But light reacted a little as he stepped close to it. Zane narrowed his gaze wondering where he was. As he got close to the light he touched it.
Then the dark void he was in light up as the light illuminated the place. Zane covered his eyes wondering what is going on. As he covered his eyes for what seems like minutes. Soon enough a set of footsteps echoed as his ears perked up.
Zane slowly removed his hands from his eyes to see where the footsteps where coming. Their he saw someone very familiar to him. A perfect copy of him but he was different compared to him.
That being because his eyes were crimson red and he knew for a fact his were dark blue. Zane narrowed his gaze looking at the figure wondering what he was seeing. He reached a hand out and the copy of him did the same thing.
The two hands met as they stared at each other. They stared at each others eyes as crimson red meet dark blue. Soon enough the two let go of each others hands. Zane then sat down holding his head wondering where the hell he is.
"Where in the remnant am I?"he questioned.
Then the copy of himself chuckled a little getting his attention. He then did the same thing as Zane sitting across from him. But he had one knee up as they stared at each other.
"You may be wondering where you are right now i'm guessing?'the copy questioned.
Zane looked at him annoyed"yeah…I just asked that…who are you?"Zane replied
The figure sighed as he looked around the place they were at. Zane noticed this as he circled around looking around where he was. He noticed five doors with a white around them. When did these appear.
"Hmmm I can answer one of those question right now"the copy replied
Zane thought about this but if he could get one question answered right now he's fine with that. He cupped his chin thinking about his option. He wanted to know where he was but he was also curious about this mirror image of himself and what those doors are.
Zane thought hard for a moment before coming up with his answer.
"Alright heres my question"Zane begun as the copy of himself stared at him waiting for it.
"Ask away?"the copy replied softly.
"Who are you and why do you look like me?"zane questioned looking at the copy.
The copy collapsed his hands together staring at Zane for a moment before answering"who I am is a little hard to explain. But heres a simpel answer for you. I am connected to you in a way. I'm the part of you that is well….the monstrous side of you in a way"the copy replied
Zane sighed leaning back with his back touching the water. It wasn't wet and his clothes were dry it seems.
"So your pretty much the grimm version of me or something"zane said
"Bingo we have a winner wanna know your prize"the copy joked
"No… ok what is it another question I can ask?"Zane replied
"Sort of it's about the second part of your question. Why do I look like you? Can you figure out why?"the copy asked
Zane thought for a moment thinking that if hes his monstrous grimm side. Maybe that means hes just an extension of himself in a way. Which would make sense a little but he had soo many question. He felt his life slip away from him and now hes in some type of void.
"Hmm well if you're my monstrous side that means your just apart of my mind i'm guessing. But what is your name?"zane asked
The copy laughed a little wagging his finger at him. Zane looked annoyed at this because he wasn't in the mood for games today.
"Another time kid….get some rest. Soon enough i'll contact you again"the copy said which confused Zane. Then from underneath him the water opened up as he fell through. As he fell he could feel himself sinking down below in the water. He doesn't know where he'll end up.
The two faunus desperately searched for any remaining survivors they could bring to the safehouse. As they searched they noticed the last of the evac ships leaving them. Which meant they were stuck in Vale for now.
Xander sighed in disappointment at their current situation. That mean the city was lost and no more ships were coming for them. Akasha took notice of this looking at the kid.
"Don't worry kid, they'll send more ships or huntsman and huntresses to check for more stragglers"Akasha tried to reassure him. But she also didn't wanna say how their might not be any more help coming.
The only reason they took the people to that safehouse is to treat them and protect them.. Along with getting them out of the city. But trifia radieod them telling them their original escape plan won't work. The giant tunnel they used to get supplies in the safehouse. The gate shut on them due to the circuits frying or something.
Which meant their only way out of the city safely maybe was blocked. This was bad because what were they going to do. But she decided to push that to the back of her mind. Right now they were checking the district for anyone else. Then they would return and come up with a escape plan.
"Your right….lets see if anyone else is here"Xander said as they continued to search the streets. The place seemed deserted but they soon got to a small courtyard. The place was destroyed and their were slash marks everywhere. Along with spent shells and some weapons on the ground.
Akasha looked around surprised wondering what exactly did this. As the two walked around Xander started to sniff something in the air. It was a distinct metallic smell and he knew what it was blood. But it smelled fresh which meant someone was close.
"Hey got something from that nose of your wolf ears?"Akasha questioned scanning the place for any grimm.
"Yeah blood and its freash, maybe someone alive"xander replied
"Maybe lets check sniff away"akasha added
Xander sniffed the air again and soon started to follow. From his point of view he saw a blue trial that was see through. His semblance is called aura tracker. Its not the best one but it does have its uses. He can see people aura and can track some in a way.
The blue hue trail led toward a small alleyway it seems. Xander followed the trail to see what exactly it led to.
Soon enough he found where the smell was coming from. Their he saw Zane still slumped over against the wall. Xander thought he recgonizes him but it wasn't coming to him.
"Akasha! I found someone here"xander shotued as Akasha spritned over. Then she smacked the back of his head for screaming.
"Don't shout idiot do you want all the grimm here to eat us"Akasha said quietly.
"Crap sorry….you think he's alive?"Xander asked as he rubbed the back of his head.
Akasha studied the bodie for a bit and the guy looked to be in bad shape. In her opinion he should be dead but she also recgonized him but couldn't place.
"Don't know lets…"Akasha began but then looked at a picture in his hands. She knelt down picking it up. As she did she noticed blood around the edges. But her eyes sunk a little noticing someone in the picture.
"Oh no…"akasha said getting the wolf faunus attention.
"What is it?'xander asked and Akasha presented the picture to him.
He looked at it and he saw his older sister their in the picture with three others. The one with teal hair he didn't know along with the blonde. But he stared at the boy in the picture and he was similar to the guy in front of them.
"I think he's your sister's boyfriend,"Akasha said with Xander looking at the guy.
"Wait….wouldn't that mean she didn't get out?"Xander said concerned
Akasha shrugged her shoulder"I don't know kid…if he was alive maybe he'd know. Though if she is, i'm assuming she might be pretty upset right now along with her other girl"akasha said which made his ear flopp.
Xander felt a little sorry his sister always tried to watch out for whats best for him. Now here he is trapped in a city full of grimm. She must be worried sick about him wondering if he made it out alive. He dropped the picture on the ground and sighed.
But theirs also his parents, both of them must be pretty mad at him right now. If he makes it out of this dad will probably make him spar with him for a year. Along with his mom grounding him for life.
"Alright lets…get back to the safehouse before–"akasha begun but they heard a small cough come from near them. They turned toward the person they thought to be dead. As they stared at him waiting to see if he did again. The guys chest slowly rised surprising the two.
"Holy crap he's alive"Xander said with a shocked expression.
"Seems so…guy should be dead for all we know"akasha said
Zane groaned a little as he moved around muttering to himself"sorry wolfie..bun…guess i'm not coming back. Sorry for hurting your feeling"he quietly said to himself as he was half conscious.
Xander looked at the young huntsman who is dating his sister. Xander clenched his fist as he walked over to the boy. Then he carefully pulled him up wrapping his arm around his looked at him a little surprised at what he was doing.
"What are you doing Xander…the guy won't make it"Akasha said
"No he can if we get him back to the safehouse. The doc can treat him…maybe this count as an apolgie to my big sis. "Xander said smiling a little as Akasha rolled her eyes smiling.
"Alright i'll make the portal you carrie him. And be careful guy looks like hes about to fall apart"Akasha replied making the wolf smil a little. The two then started to make their back to their safehouse. Trying to avoid as many grimm as they can so they don't die today.
Meanwhile in the safehouse everybody was going around trying hard not to freak out. Trifia was in a circle with several people. Their were maybe twenty four of them including Xander and Akasha. But those two haven't came back yet.
She was starting to get a little worried because they were suppose to be back a half hour ago. Everyone was talking about how they are getting out of the city. A barrel was in front of them as it illuminated their faces. Near a grate some light shined suggesting it was night time now.
"What are we going to were trapped and the city crawling with grimm"An older man said.
"Yeah and what now we stay here. Wait for our food to run out or let the grimm come after us"A women said
"Hey everyone just relax if you keep freaking out grimm might come. "Yuma said trying to calm the situation down. But it didn't work because their situation right now was dire.
Its true they have enough food for aboud a couple month of staying down here. But with this many people here it might as well be cut in half now. The spider faunus internally groaned as she was trying to figure this out.
She was an assassin not a leader, she received orders not gave them. Although at times she was incharge of ordering around small squads of white fang soldiers. But she was given an obejctive and had to come up with stuff on the fly sometimes.
"Look bat wings here is right we neeed to relax, '' Carver said in a loud voice, getting all their attention.
Yuma chuckled a little at the comment but still hated it.
"Funny joke old man, but listen we just need to relax. The city may be crawling with grimm but that doesn't mean they won't send rescue teams in"Yuma said trying to give everyone hope.
"Carvers right if we hold out here. Atlas, Huntsman or huntresses can save us"Miyuki said with a hopeful expression.
"Really…because from what I can tell where screwed"A women with a leather jacket replied
She looked to be in her late twenties maybe, along with standing at 6.0 ft tall, her skin was fair skinned. Along with having an athletic building to her. Her hair was blonde and cut short, but she had one long hair that went over her eyes. Her eyes were cyan colored it seems.
The women had on a pair of black jeans, she wore some sneakers that were blue. She wore a long sleeve compression shirt that tightened around her bust a little. The shirt was colored red and she wore a jacket over it. The jacket was a leather jacket and it had her name on the back of it. Her name read Tia Williams and she looked annoyed to be here.
"Look lady you weren't complaining about being saved from that uras when we found you"Yuma retorted.
"Oh shut up I don't even though why i'm here. Seriously you all could be part of the white fang for all we know"Tia replied back as a couple of the ex faunus white fangs looked at each other. Trifia wanted to tell because she was started to get a headache.
But then from above someone was yelling to them which sounded voice echoed through the sewer tunnels near their main entrance.
"Hey we need help we got wounded!"akasha shouted above. Everyone went wide eye as everyone went up to see what happened. The entire group had nothing better to do and went to investigate it.
Trifia walked quickly up the stairs holding the railing to see what happened. As she Akasha walked over exhausted after using her semblance. While Xander held someone who looked to be half dead. The person coughed sligthly and she noticed his abdomen bleeding a little. A bandged was around it but the white banaged was dark red.
"God where the hell did you find him?"yuma asked walking toward Xander to help him carry the injured person. As he did Miyuki and carver looked at him wondering where they seen him before. Trifia wonders who exactly is that and is curious how their alive.
"We…we found him*pant* in an alleyway…guys messed up pretty bad"akasha replied trying to catch her breath.
"Looks like a huntsman. Guess the guy fought tooth and nail out their"carver pointed out.
Trifa rubbed her forehead"alright but he looks like one of the students. Hurry up and grab him before he bleeds out"she ordered
As Yuma helped Xander carrie the boy, the guy's arm accidentally fell from his. Then Zane stumbled a little falling down on his back struggling to breath. Xander cringed a little as he dropped the guy. Because now he might have worsened his injuries.
Miyuki and Carvers eyes went a little wide along with a few other people recognizing him. Zane coughed a little as blood came up again. His head fell to the side as his chest barely rised.
Then from the crowd a man declared something that scared everyone with them.
"Ahh they brought back that grimm knight from the tournament"he exclaimed with a few people backing up scared. As they did Miyuki,carver along with Trifia moved forward wondering why they brought this guy back.
"What the hell you two, why did you bring that thing here?"Trifia said and Miyuki glared at her.
"Hey don't call him that I owe the guy my life"Miyuki said with Trifia raising an eyebrow to the frosty girl.
"Really what he save you from some grimm or something?"Tia replied smuggly.
"No… he saved me and a little girl I knew from slavers. And now he needs help isn't this why you guy brought everyone here. To help them?"Miyuki said.
Trifia thought for a moment thinking about the best course of action. Xander tried to help zane up but the guy was too heavy for him. Xander tried pulling him up from his left arm but Zane cried in pain as he did. Xander let go letting the guy's hand fall to the ground. He heard a crack as he fell down and Xander tapped his fingers together for what just happened.
"Sorry"xander sheepishly said as his ears flopped over.
Zane slowly woke up half conscious muttering to himself not caring it seem who listens.
"Gotta…check the district…can't leave….murderer….Eria….Rogue….Onxyia…sorry"zane muttered more random words as the group looked at him. Soon enough a man in medical scrubs walked up to the group wondering what is going on.
"Alright what's with the yelling? I'm trying to sterlize my equipment in case anything were–"he begun before looking at the half dead person on the ground.
'What happens?'he asked as he knelt down next to Zane.
"We don't know we found him like this. But from what I could tell his shoulder shattered, he got alot of broken ribs, he received a stab wound to his leg and stomach"Xander replied as the doctor looked over the boy.
"Ross, do you know who that kid is?"Yuma asked as he stared at the boy.
"Yes, but from what I saw. The boy seemed to be under mental suggestion, but right now he needs help. Someone help me carry him"The man who is known as Ross Chrion ordered.
Carver stepped up as he gently picked Zane up as he did he groaned in pain. Carvr then looked at him wanting to know where he wanted him. Ross along with Xander moved toward the medical tent to treat the kids wounds.
This left everyone else with each other wondering what their going to do. Trifia sighed and looked at Akasha at what she just did.
"Dang it Akasha why did you bring him here? Now everyone is scared"Trifia shouted at Akasha.
Akasha glared at her then jabbed a finger in the spider faunus chest"hey i'm sorry I thought were here to make up for our past actions. Along with that I know someone who cares about him. So bite me if you can't deal with it,leave"akasha retorted glaring at Trifia and poitned toward the entrance.
The spider faunus looked at the girl but then rubbed her temple of her head. The women sighed in annoyance then looked down at Xander and the doctor heading into the tent.
"Fine once they treat that kid he's leaving I can't risk someone going all grimm on us"trifia said with Miyuki laughing which caught some attention.
"Hey blondie whats so funny"Tia said speaking up.
"Oh nothing i'm pretty sure he won't go grimm on us…I hope."Miyuki said a littl hesitant.
Trifia sighed at this"Alright look were all tired from today events. Everyone go relax and try to keep yourself occupied alright. We'll discuss this tomorrow. "Trifia said. Soon everyone separated into their own corners of the safehouse. While trifia sighed leaning over a railing wondering what exactly she going to do right now.
It seems things are getting interesting with zane being found and possible getting his injuries treated. Along with that he seems to have met a copy of himself? While hariet seems to be refusing orders now, along with everyone being stuck in a city full of grimm. Thanks for reading
