A/N: This is the last chapter of this story. I appreciate all the love and support; you guys are the best. It means a lot to me that you guys like my stories, I continue to write because you guys inspire me and I truly appreciate every one of you. I hope you enjoy the ending. It's a happy Stellaride chapter, taking place five years later. With a little Stellaride smut.

Stella lay in bed watching Kelly sleep as her mind thought about her life. It's amazing how fast time goes by and how things process quickly. How you sit back and think about everything you've been through—the good, the bad, the trauma, the heartbreak, the stuff that was meant to break you—actually makes you stronger. Six and a half years ago, Stella decided to come back to Chicago to see her childhood best friend, who knew that the handsome, blue-eyed stranger sitting next to her on that plane was going to change her life.

Kelly Severide made her feel things she didn't think were possible; she spent years being abused physically, emotionally, sexually, and mentally. The night of the fire replayed in her mind for years. She was so tired; she was ready to end all her suffering; she wanted to die; it seemed like the only way out of her miserable, horrible, tragic life. But God wasn't done with her yet; he knew she was a fighter; she was strong enough to pull through and turn her tragedies into victories.

Misty saved her that night, and for a while, she hated her for it. But as time went on, she started to see things differently; she wanted to save lives like Misty did. And that's what she did; she became a firefighter; she wasn't completely healed from everything Sonny, Paul, and her aunt put her through, but she was able to stand on her two feet and continue; she loved being a firefighter; she loved Misty; Misty became like a big sister to her; she wasn't the type to leave anyone in on what she'd been through; she had head-to-toe issues. But she hid it well; guys were number one on her trust issue list. So she thought it would be okay to randomly hook up with a guy when she was lonely or drunk. She didn't need love or comfort, just sex.

Misty told her that wasn't the life God planned for her, but in Stella's eyes, God was playing her for a fool with everything she's been through. When she finally starting to understand God again, Misty died, and Stella's faith was gone again. Then she saw Paul in that fire, and she let him die. She was torn between feeling free and feeling guilty. It was a secret she was going to take to her grave, but the guilt was so bad that she decided she wasn't firefighter material anymore. So she quit.

Misty, for some unknown reason, left Stella a penthouse and all her money. Stella was set for life, but even with all the money and knowing Paul was dead, Sonny was locked up. She still wasn't happy; she was numb, and she felt nothing anymore, so sleeping with random guys would give her some kind of feeling. The problem was that the good feeling only lasted during sex; once it was over, the numbness set in again, and she was back to hating herself, hating her life, hating everything and everyone.

They say God has perfect timing, and maybe that is true. Because he picked the best time for Kelly Severide to enter her life. This man, who was bound to be single and never settle down, fell completely in love with her, and through his love for her, he showed her that it's okay to let people in; it's okay to trust people. And not everyone has bad intentions for her. She learned what unconditional love was; she left New York and started over in Chicago; she got involved in the community; and she started going to group therapy sessions with women who had been in similar situations as she was.

Then one night she met a preacher who told her about a group of teenage girls who have been through horrible things, and they needed someone to talk to, someone to vent to, someone to trust and understand what they have been through. He believed Stella was the one; at first, she was pretty hesitant, but Kelly told him she was the right one for the job. He knew she would be able to connect with those girls and help them. So she accepted the offer. The rest was history.

She smiles at her sleeping husband. Yes, her husband. Even five years later, she still can't believe they are married. They have four kids, which are all a true blessing.

Joshua was their first blessing; he was a month old when they took him in. He's now a train-crazy, video game expert, and football-loving five-year-old. He wants to be a firefighter like his dad, and he's a mama's boy.

Destiny, the little three-year-old Kelly saved, is their second blessing. She is now eight, smart, beautiful, talented, and has such a big heart and a positive outlook on life that Stella hopes never goes away. She wants to save all the abused animals in the world; she's the reason they have two dogs, four cats, a bird, and two bunnies. They just can't tell her no.

Dylan is the ray of sunshine, their third blessing. Kelly came home after shift one day and told Stella that someone abandoned a newborn at the firehouse. Stella took it as a sign that God wanted her to save this little boy. So that's what she did. Dylan is now four; he is a paw patrol, pizza-loving, always smiling, and an amazing personality little boy.

Misty is their fourth blessing, their miracle child. Gabby and Matt decided to give Kelly and Stella the best gift anyone could give a couple who can't have children. Stella was reading an article one day about a woman who couldn't have kids, so her sister told her she would carry her baby for her. Stella joked and said she wished she had a sister who would do something like that for her. Gabby did some research and talked things over with Matt. Then came over to Stella's and Kelly's one night.

Flashback toa year ago.

Stella and Kelly just put the kids to bed and decided to cuddle up on the couch and watch a movie. "Who could that be?"

Kelly got up to answer the door.

"Sorry, I know the kids are in bed," Gabby tells him as he opens the door.

"It's fine; what brings you guys by?" Kelly asked as Gabby and Matt walked in.

"We wanted to talk to you and Stella about something."

" Okay. She's in the living room."

The three of them walk into the room. "Hey, what's up?" Stella asked, noticing the couple behind her husband.

"We just wanted to talk to you guys about something, if now's not a bad time."

"Nope, we were just watching a movie," Stella said as she turned the TV off. Gabby and Matt sat down. "So what's going on?"

Gabby smiled nervously and looked at Matt, who gave her an encouraging smile. "I've been thinking about something, and I talked to Matt about it, and he's okay with what I want to do."

Stella and Kelly gave them a confused look. "What do you want to do?"

Gabby took a deep breath. She knew this could go either way; they could be happy or upset. But she's hoping they allow her to do this for them. "Stella, remember that day you were reading that article about the woman whose sister offered to carry her baby?'

" Yeah." She wasn't sure why Gabby was bringing this up.

"Well, you see, I was wondering. You know, if you two are interested in something, if you want to, it's your choice...

" Gabby!"

"It's a crazy idea. This idea I have a very crazy...

"Gabby, stop talking." Stella laughed. "Your rambling.. just spit it out.

"I want to be your surrogate." She blurted out.

" What?" Stella's eyes widened in surprise, and Kelly looked confused.

"I want to carry your baby if you want me to. I mean, if it's something you guys want."

Stella tears up. "What is she talking about?" Kelly asked Stella clearly, not understanding what Gabby was offering.

"Are you serious?" Stella asked instead of answering Kelly's question.

" Yes." Gabby was tearing up too. "I did the research; I talked to Matt, and he's okay with it. I know you guys made peace with everything, and you love the little family you've created. But if you guys want a little mini-Stella and Kelly, I want to help."

Stella was crying steadily. "Gabby, that's a lot to take on and..." she said, looking at Matt. "Are you okay with this for real?"

"At first I thought it was crazy, but Gabby explained things to me, and I read up on it. And I know and understand the risk, but if it's something you guys want and Gabby is willing to do, I'm on board."

"I don't know what to say...

"Can someone tell me what is going on?" Kelly asked the three since he seemed to be the only one out of the loop.

Stella turned toward him. "I read this article about this woman who couldn't have kids, and her sister, who volunteered, to carry her baby for her."

"Carried it for her? I don't get it; how does that work?"

"They take my egg and your sperm together, and they put the embryos into someone who can carry a baby; they call them surrogates."

Kelly looked at her questionable "This is something you've been thinking about."

"I just got curious a while back after reading the article and started doing some research. You know, reviews and reading people's stories that have been through it—successful stories and unsuccessful stories—and my curiosity was high, and then I talked to my doctor and asked him some questions, and he said I still have my eggs."

"Why didn't you tell me?"

"I wanted to, but after thinking about it, I realized I didn't want a stranger carrying our baby. So I decided to just forget about it."

Kelly looked at Gabby, then Matt. "How dangerous is this procedure?"

"It's not that dangerous; it has risks like any procedure does. The only downside is that it's not 100 percent certain that it would work, so it's like twenty grand for nothing if it's not successful."

Kelly's eyes widened. "Twenty grand?"

"Yeah, it's expensive."

Kelly looked at Stella. "Twenty grand? That's a lot of money, Stella."

"I know, but...

"You want to do this?"

"I do, but only if you want to, Kelly. I love our lives, and I'm so thankful that God graced us with three angels. But I can't help it; I want a mini-Stella and Kelly running around."

Kelly smiled. "What's the odds that this will work?"

"It's not good, but I'm willing to try as many times as possible," Gabby tells them.

" Really?" Stella asked, and she looked at Matt, who was also surprised by his wife's comment.

"Yes, I really want to do this for you guys. I know the risk. I read everything the doctor gave me. As long as you still have eggs, we can do this. Is your egg good?"

"I had ovarian reserve testing done a few months ago."

"You did?"

"I was just curious, Kelly; I didn't want to get my hopes up if I didn't have any eggs left."

"Are your eggs good?"

"Yes, but a few look severely damaged, so I probably only have one or three good ones left."

"Stella, if you really want to do this, I'm in, but honey, don't get your hopes up; you know the chances are slim and you know the risk, so just be prepared that you might be part of the percentage that is unsuccessful."

Stella nods. "I know, and I promise I understand all the risks, so how about we do it once? If it's successful, then great, we got our baby; if it's not successful, then it is what it is. At least we tried..." She grabbed Kelly's hands. "I say we do it and put it in God's hands; what's meant to be will be."

"Okay, let's do this."

Stella leaped into his arms, happier than he'd ever seen her. Then she went to Gabby and hugged her tightly. "You are the most amazing, wonderful, thoughtful best friend in the world. Thank you, Gabby, for making a dream come true."

"I love you, Stella, and I want to do anything I can to make you happy, but remember that the odds aren't always good; don't get your hopes up."

Flashback ends.

Three months, seventeen days, six hours, fifty-two minutes, and forty-two seconds later (yes, Stella kept count), Gabby got the phone call they'd all prayed about. And four months ago, Gabby gave birth to a beautiful baby girl. Misty Gabriella Severide is a tiny, six-pound, two-ounce, beautiful baby. Stella cried as Matt placed her in her arms. The joy and happiness that echoed through her made Gabby so happy. Even seeing Kelly cry and admire the baby made her feel so blessed that she was able to help her friends out.

"Good morning, beautiful!" Kelly's voice knocked her from her thoughts.

"Good morning, hubby!" She leaned up and kissed him. "Can you believe we've been married for five years today?" She asked as she caressed his cheek. "Happy Anniversary!"

"Yep, I told you it's you and me for a lifetime." He kisses her. "Happy Anniversary, baby!"

Kelly rolls on top of her and starts to kiss her. His hands roam her body. "Kelly, let's not start something we can't finish."

"We got time." He looks at the clock. "It's only seven."

"Yes, but we have three kids to get up and get fed and out the door by eight, and a baby who is... The crying from the baby monitor interrupted her. "See, our daughter is awake, and she wants to eat."

Kelly dropped his head on her shoulder. "I want to eat." He pouted.

She nibbled on his ear, then whispered, "Be a good boy today, and you can eat me tonight and play with me. I promise."

" Deal." He whispers as he kisses her neck. His hands move between her legs.

"Kelly... Kelly..." She moans as he starts to rub her. God, she wants this; she feels like it's been years since they had sex; technically, it's been a month; it's hard to find the time when you have four kids. She gasps as his fingers enter her. "Kelly... Kelly... Oh...

Kelly knew he was getting to her, so he slowly kissed her body. And slipped her panties off. "Just a taste, I promise."

She closed her eyes as his tongue licked her. Oh, Kelly..." She was lost under his spell; she forgets everything when his tongue is in her. She pushes his head into her aching pussy. "Right there, baby..."

" Mom Joshua threw his shoe at Dylan, and Dylan is crying. "

Stella snapped back to reality. "Damnit Kelly," she said, jumping up out of bed. "I'm coming, honey." She yelled at Destiny.

"No, you're not; I almost had you, but we got interrupted again." He pouted.

"I know; hopefully we can make love soon without any interruptions."

He watches as she slips her jeans on. "God, I hope so; I'm forgetting what sex feels like."

"Kelly, it hasn't been that long, babe."

"It feels like it."

She gives him a pitiful look as she puts on her shirt. "I promise after dinner tonight we can come back here and remind each other what sex is." She laughs. As she walks out of the room.

Kelly lay there thinking about tonight, then got an idea—an idea that would guarantee he gets laid tonight without any kids interrupting them. He loves his four kids, and he is beyond grateful for the life he has, but he is in desperate need to feel close to his wife tonight. He calls Gabby to help with his plan.

After making Josh apologize to Dylan, Stella walked to Misty's room. "Good morning, Mommy's angel." She picked up the happy baby. "Let's get you changed." She laid her on the changing table as she continued to talk to her.

Kelly walked into the room, smiling at the sight. He loved it when Stella was in mom mode. "Look, baby, Daddy's here."

Kelly walked over to them. "Morning princess." Kelly kissed the baby's cheek.

"Mom Dylan is refusing to put his shoes on; he said he's not going to preschool," Destiny yelled.

Kelly sighed. "I'll get the boys ready."

"Thank you." Stella shakes her head. "Misty sweetie I don't know what mommy and daddy are going to do with your brothers."

A few moments later, all the kids were dressed and fed. "I don't want to go to school," Dylan said as he was walking out the front door.

"Little man, it's Friday. You will make it through the day, then you're off two days."

"I still don't want to go."

"Well, I'm sorry," Kelly tells him as he opens the car door for him. " Sometimes you have to do things you don't want to do in life."

" That's stupid." Dylan said as Kelly shuts the door.

"I love school daddy." Joshua says as he climbs in the car.

" I'm happy to hear that." Kelly says as he opens the driver side door. " Is your sister coming?"

" Yeah she was getting her lunch."

Kelly got in the car. " So you boys want to go camping with aunt Gabby and uncle Matt this weekend."

" Yes!" Joshua says as belts his seatbelt.

" Is Destiny going?" Dylan asked.

"No, just you two, aunt Gabby and uncle Matt and your two cousins. Why?"

" Destiny is to bossy."

Kelly laughed. " She's not bossy, she's your big sister she's looking out for you. " He shakes his head as he texts Gabby. Two kids down two, two to go he thought.

Stella was rocking Misty when Destiny walked into the room. "Mom, can I stay with Maddie this weekend?"

"Is her mom okay with it?"

"Yes, she's supposed to text you later to let you know."

"Okay, then you can stay."

Destiny came over and kissed her mom's cheek. "I love you." Then she kissed Misty's cheek. "I love you too, pretty girl."

Stella smiled. "Thank you."

"For what?"

"For everything, these past four months of adjusting to having a baby in the house, you have been a lifesaver. I appreciate the help you give me, especially on the nights your dad is on shift. And for this morning, getting your brothers up and ready, even though they can be hell on wheels sometimes, you're such a huge help, and I appreciate it. "

Destiny shrugs her shoulders. "I like having a family, I like to help as much as I can."

"I love you, baby. Have a good day at school."

Destiny kissed her once more, then ran out the door. Stella sat there counting her blessings as Misty drifted back to sleep.

Destiny run out to the car and jump inside. " Sorry I was asking mom if I could stay with Maddie this weekend?"

Kelly was surprised. " What did she say?"

" She said I could."

Kelly smiled big as he pulled out the driveway, three kids down and one to go time to call his mom he thought as he drove the kids to school.

Later that night, after a romantic dinner, Stella and Kelly were driving home. "Babe, you passed our road," Stella tells him as she looks at him.

"I know." He smiles. "We're not going home."

"Where are we going?"

"I decided that we deserve a weekend to ourselves."

"A weekend? What are you talking about? Kelly, we have four kids waiting at home for us."

"Stella, we have been so wrapped up in kids and everyday errands and stuff that we haven't really spent any time alone."

Stella knew he was right. "I know, but that's the life we picked, Kelly; we wanted a big family...

"Yes, it is, and I love our life. But we can still be good parents and spend time alone together." He grabbed her hand. "Destiny is with Maddie, and the boys are with Gabby and Matt. And my mom is at the house with Misty all weekend."

"When did you plan this?"

"This morning." He kissed her hand. "I got us a room for the weekend, and we aren't leaving it all weekend."

"That's nice." She smiles. "We don't have clothes."

"I did pack some clothes and our toothbrushes, but we aren't going to need any clothes for what I got planned," he winked as they pulled into the hotel parking lot.

As they walked to their room, Kelly covered Stella's eyes. "What are you doing?"

"I want to make sure everything is the way I wanted it before you see it." He unlocked the door and slowly walked into the room. He did a quick scan of the room first. "All right," he said, taking his hand away.

Stella's smile grew wider, and her eyes lit up. "Oh my... Kelly, this is beautiful."

"I called ahead and asked the hotel to decorate our room with roses and candles." He wrapped his arms around her from behind.

The king-size bed was covered in white, red, and pink rose petals. Candles lit throughout the room, giving the room a romantic glow. An uncorked bottle of champagne in the corner. The room smelled like roses and vanilla.

Chocolate-dipped strawberries on the table. "Five dozen bouquets of lilies, one for every year we've been married." He kissed her neck. " There's even a jacuzzi."

She turned in his arms and said, "That sounds wonderful." She kissed him softly. "Thank you, baby; this is definitely something we needed. I'm so glad I married you."

"Me too." He said this as he unzipped her dress. "Did I tell you how beautiful you looked tonight?"

"Yep, a few hundred times." She laughed. As she kicked the dress away, she noticed her husband's shocked expression.

"You were naked under there all night." He scanned her perfect body.

"Yep, I figured it would be easier for me to just climb over to the driver's seat and hike my dress up." She winked as she unbuttoned his shirt. "It's been a while since we've had sex in a car."

"True." He kisses her softly. "It's been a while since we've had sex anywhere." He said this as he eagerly undressed.

"Apparently so, the way you're taking your clothes off." She laughs.

"I can't help it; I've missed being close to you." He lifts her, and she wraps her legs around his waist. "I need to be inside you so bad."

"I need that too, baby." She tells him as he lays her gently on the bed. "I love you," she tells him as she touches his face. "You are way too good to me."

"I love you too, and you are so out of my league. So of course I'm going to treat you like the queen you are."

She cupped his face. "Now make love to me," she whispered. "I want to stare into your eyes as we become one."

His lips curled up into a devilishly beautiful smile. She has magic in her eyes; even the stars envy her. He doesn't say a word; he just kisses her with all the love he has for her. She can feel him prodding at her entrance, and he sinks little by little into her.

Their eyes lock as he enters her fully. His ocean-blue eyes reflect all the love he has for her. She wraps her legs around his waist, pushing him deeper into her.

Their eyes stayed fixed on each other. He loves looking into her eyes because her eyes say, I love you in ways her lips can't articulate. No words were spoken as they made love, both enjoying the pleasure of one another. She wraps her arms around his neck and brings his luscious mouth to hers. He starts moving at a slow, sensual pace. His tongue mates with hers as their bodies grind against one another. He cradles her in his strong embrace as they both reach their peak. "I love you," he whispered as his orgasm hit him, and he filled her with his seed.

"I love you more." She tells him as she cums. They catch their breath eventually. She is happy and completely satisfied here in his arms.

He smiled down at her. "You're amazing." He kisses her. "I'm so in love with you." He tells her this as he kisses her neck.

"I hope so, considering we're married and have four kids." She jokes.

He laughs as he lays beside her. He pulls her to him and kisses her forehead. "I hate to bring this up, but I'm wondering where your head is; you haven't said much since the lawyer called you."

She looks up at him, her eyes filled with calmness. She thought about the phone call she received two days ago. Her lawyer called and told her that Sonny requested another parole hearing, but it was denied. And a week later, he hung himself in his jail cell. "I'm actually okay." She sees the unsureness in his eyes. "I am babe; I mean, I will admit that when I saw her name pop up on my phone, I feared the worst, you know, like he got out or something." She moves on her side, propping up. "But truthfully, I'm happy he's dead. And I feel so bad for feeling that way; he was a human being, and...

"He was a monster, not a human being." He says cutting her off. "Don't you dare feel bad for him; he doesn't deserve any sympathy. I hope he burns in hell for everything he put you through and for everything he did to any other woman."

She gave him a lopsided smile. "It does give me a sense of peace knowing he is gone; he can never hurt me or anyone ever again." She bit her lip as she drew circles on his chest. "I know that this is going to sound crazy because I've come so far since then, but I feel like a weight has been lifted from me, a weight I didn't even know I was carrying anymore. I feel..." She trailed off.

"Free." He finished for her.

"Yes." She agreed. "And it's a strange feeling, because five years ago when we left that courthouse, I told you, the parole members, and Sonny that I was letting go and that I wasn't going to let the past affect my life anymore. And to a certain extent, it didn't, but...

Kelly gave her a confused, concerned look. "But what?"

"I buried a lot of what I was feeling or thinking deep inside, but my biggest fear was Sonny getting released and coming back for me. Since the parole hearing, some things have been happening, like sometimes I would see him in the car in front of me, on the sidewalk, or in the church. He was popping up everywhere. When I would tell you I couldn't sleep because I had a headache, I lied; it was because I was having nightmares, not bad once, and it wasn't every night; it was occasionally, maybe once a month or so. I wanted to tell you, but.. " She shrugged. "I didn't want you to think I wasn't strong, that I was still having trouble battling my past, that I didn't put it all behind me."

"Stella...

"I know I should have told you." She says, interrupting what she knew he was going to say. "And I know you wouldn't have thought any less of me, and you would have held me and reassured me that I was just imagining him and that everything was okay and that I was safe."

"Yes, I would have; it's my job as your husband, as the man who loves you. To keep you safe and reassure you. And baby, I want you to remember that no matter what you are battling, you are not alone. I want to battle with you, no matter what the situation is."

She kisses his cheek. "I promise, I won't keep anything from you. Now that he's gone, I know that my fear of him getting released has disappeared. I feel like I can finally let go, finally move on, and put it all behind me. No more worries, no more fears; erase that part of my past from my mind.." She touches his cheek. "He's dead; he's actually dead, and I'm free. I never thought my soul would be free, but here I am happy and content."

Kelly interlocked his fingers with hers.

"I'm so happy, Kelly; I truly am. I never thought I would be this happy, this in love, and a mom to four pretty amazing kids. Happiness for me was just an illusion; love wasn't something I thought I deserved. But I'm so happy that I was wrong."

Kelly leans up and kisses her. "Everyone deserves love; I always thought I would be the hot single firefighter scoring with a different girl every night." He laughed, and Stella shook her head. "I never thought I would fall in love, or that I would love anyone as much as I love you, or that I would be a father to four remarkable kids. I am so glad that I was wrong too."

"We have a pretty great life, huh?"

"Yes, we do, and I'm so thankful." He replied softly before rolling her over on her back. "Happy Anniversary, baby. I love you, Ms. Severide."

"I will never get tired of hearing that." She wrapped her arms around his neck. "I love you, Mr. Severide; how about we make love a few more times before our anniversary is over?" She smirks and closes her eyes as Kelly kisses her neck and moves slowly down her body. All she ever wanted was to be happy and love the correct way. Kelly Severide made all her dreams come true, with the bonus of four pretty awesome kids on the side.

She knows life ain't always beautiful. Sometimes it's just plain hard. Life can knock you down; it can break your heart. But the struggles make you stronger, and the changes make you wiser. And happiness has its way of taking its sweet time. In Stella Kidd Severide case, it took close to twenty years to find her happiness. Not every day is going to be sunshine and rainbows; if you want the rainbows, you have to put up with the rain. But even on those rainy days, she's happy to have a loving, caring man at home waiting to make her day better and four kids whose hugs and kisses melt away her bad days. No, life isn't always beautiful, but it's a beautiful ride when you're surrounded by your family and loved beyond measured.
