Chapter 4:Musical Impairments
Almost immediately a week and a half went by just like that for eria. She could barely tell the time went by so quickly as it was snowing a little now outside. The frozen girl been pretty busy. She been slwoly trying to adjust to her missing leg right now.
Neptune has been helping her out trying to encourage her to keep looking toward the positives. Along with him just coming by to check up on her before her, perun and ame head to haven academy for school in three days.
But for perun he's been taking her out on small little dates trying to cheer her up thsi entire week. But this week it was his little sister piano recital tomorrow night in fact. He wanted her to come to it if she wanted to like a little date. She appreciated these small gestures but was still hurt about her friends deaths.
Though weiss just comes by trying to cheer eria up as well along with apolgizging still for not getting their on time to save her leg. Eria didn't blame her at all for her missing limb and instead reassured it wasn't her fault. But weiss didn't back down as she seemed to be a dotting on her.
Although her own sister has come to help her a few times. Rogue has been busy in their father workshop with him working on something it seems. Probably that project her and jaune are working on right now.
But it was later now as they all had lunch already. They talked about a few things mainly were her partner was right now. She couldn't help but worry about her wondering if she was okay mentally and physically. Though they talked about cardin whinchesters punishment for harrassing them leaving out him almost killing rogue.
Right now eria was in the living room watching some tv as she wore a pair of of jeans that were blue. Along with a wool sweater that was thin on her bodie colored teal. Along with her signature choker and earrings as well.
Eria sighed"i'm starting to get bored just sitting here maybe I should ask perun to come by later or weiss. Maybe neptune"she thought to herself.
As she sat their she noticed out of the corner of her eyes seeing mercury, rogue and emerald leaving the house. Those three keep spending alot of time together lately. Which wasn't weird but it was worryining.
"Where are you three of too?"Eria questioned her sister
Emerald turned to her"oh were going to drop off the shield jaune wanted work on"emerald replied
This made eria kinda wanna do say hi to him and check on him"oh here i'll get dressed and come along"eria said opting to join in but her twin sister stopped her.
"Its alright sis…i'm sure perun is coming by later. Shouldn't you two have a little me time to yourselves"rogue replied
Eria sighed at her"look I know me and him haven't been with each other much this week. But…please just be careful"eria said with worry to her twin sister
Rogue gave an affirmign nod to her as the three left the just sighed heavily at this because now she was stuck here by herself. Calida was finishing up cleaning the dishes as she noticed her other daughter left here by herself. Eria wheel her way into the living room as she decided to watch some news
Eria watched hoping something good was happening except more bad news
"This is Lisa Lavender reporting. From what we gather in about four days Haven Academy will be opening its doors to its students to continue their studies. Which is great to hear that the students are willing to continue their studies to fight against the creatures of grimm and those despicable knights. In other news the identity of the notorious thief that is known as Swan still remains at large. She was sighted during the attack on Beacon some say but still her indentity remains a mystery. Though CEO Jacque Schnee hopes she is caught for her crimes. Along with general ironwood commneting that this particular criminal and grimm knights will be given swift justice. This is Lisa Lavender sighing off"the news report said as it then went to commercial.
"Hmm it'll be sad seeing your friends and little boyfriend head back to school sweetie"Calida said a little downhearted
"Yes though i'm surprised they haven't caught this swan yet. "Eria said shocked that thief was still around.
"Though it is weird didn't the news say she was affiliated with that Roman Torchwich?"calida asked as eria nodded
The thief was associated with him though she heard he died during the attack on Vale. Although latly her sister has been avoiding her alot like the plague. Which worries her why she acting like this.
Calida noticed her daughter with a downcasted look as she walked over rubbing the top of her head. Eria looked up wondering why she was doing this.
"What wrong? Are you upset your boyish twin sister left you here?"she aksed knowingly
Eria sighed as she didn't really wanna say it but she was right. Rogue has been really distant lately occasionally helping out her out.
"Yes…she been avoiding me like the plague lately. "Eria said pretty shocked that she would do that.
Calida tried to figure out what to say as she kneeled a little to get on her daughter level.
"Don't worry i'm sure shes just grieving still for your freinds. Tinkering helps her relax when she thinks about those we lost. I'm sure their in a better place"Calida reassured
"Your right…though i hope shes okay"she said
"She will be though jaki"calida called out to her husband who was looking at his scroll. He looked up at his wife as he cleared his throat.
"Yes my fire flower?"he replied
"Has Will contacted you on that project you were planning on working on?"calida asked
Eria totally forgot about that because she recalled velvet father being friends of her father if she recalled. Along with that saying how they were going to be discussing a special project together.
Jaki sighed walking over"yes. But i haven't been in contact with him lately. I told him to visit mistral in about a month."he replied taking a seat on the couch.
"With global communication down it does make communication hard"eria said. Jaki nodded to this sighing.
"Though i'm guessing hes checking on his daughter and wife right now"he said
Eria immediately knew who he was talking about the bunny faunus from Team CFVY.
"Oh your talking about velvet"eria said as calida looked at her daughter.
"Who that a friend you know?"she asked
Eria nodded"yes a bunny faunus. Though the team she was on was surprising to see someone like her on"eria started
"You know i recall watching their match during the tournament. They were an interesting bunch"calida pointed out
"They were though i wonder how their doing"she asked herself
Jaki tapped the side of his head"from what i heard most of the beacon students went to shade to continue their studies"jaki answered
That was a little hopeful hearing that some of her friends from Beacon were their. She wondered were Team RWBY was along with jaune other two teammates. The princess ice queen of beacon hopes their somewhere safe.
After a few more minutes soon enough a knock could be heard from the door. Calida looked over at her daughter smiling knowing who is was. She walked over opening the door to reveal perun.
The lighting rocker was wearing some blue jeans with a black t-shirt with a winter jakcet. It was starting to snow a little outside.
He smiled at eria"hey snow angel ready to get some fresh air?"he asked
Eria nodded in agreement as she thought it might be nice to get some fresh air today.
"Umm sure it's nice today"eria said as she was wheeled out of the house. The rocker took her out as they luckily installed a small ramp for her to make it easier to leave the house.
As they walked of wheeled their way out of the house the two were heading down the streets of argus as they walked along the path. The cold wind blew slightly as eria wasn't bothered by it that much but perun was as he shivered
"Jeez i still find it weird how your used to the cold. Tell me your secret?"he playfully asked
Eria smiled a little"the secret is when you have a semblance that can let you control ice. Is that you will get used to the cold over time. So good luck trying to get a new semblance"she replied codly as perun chuckled.
"Yeah though where would you like to go today my snow angel?"he asked
Eria thought for a moment and she hasn't been at the crosby store in a while. She might as well go and greet them.
"How about heading to your parents store to say hi real quick"eria suggested
He nodded in agreement as it did sound nice right now. The two began their trudge through the snow toward the crosby music store. It took them maybe about a half hour to get their finally once they did the two went inside the store as the door ding with a bell on top of it.
Once inside eria noticed that Apollo was at the front desk along with someone else. Orchie was their, she vidly recalled how she would come help out at the store sometimes. The basiest for days of mania was cleaning some of the instruments on display.
Apollo was ringing up a customer and handed them a trumpet.
"Their you go kid thanks for shopping with us"apollo said as the boy tipped a fedora to him.
"Aye no problem man, your the only guy who sold this piece i needed"the fedora boyed said as eria looked to see flynt coal here.
The fedora atlas student looked surprised"hmm do I know you or something?"he asked
Eria looked away because she rather not start a fight because of her team reputation now. A few people seem to dislike her team now for their leader.
Perun rubbed his neck"uh i was on team TPAZ during the vytal festival, this is my parents place"perun replied
"Yeah, yeah that tanner guy. And you are…oh your from that team"flynt said with surprise at Eria who looked down.
Apollo noticed this glaring at the guy with perun sharing the hate.
Eria sighed"look…if your gonna say something about my team. Just get it over with"Eria sadly said as she waited for him to say something.
Flynt scoffed"why would I?"flynt asked to their surprise
"Umm because…my leader helped cause the fall"eria replied
"Yeah. a few people here kinda avoid their family now because of it"apollo said from the counter
The fedora wearing musician chuckled" its cool man I don't mind. Not all us atlesian are pompous jerks"flynt reassured
"Okay but don't you hate my team even a little?"eria hestiantly asked as flynt shook his head.
"Nah your leader saved me and neon butts back in the city. Thought the guy was gonan sweep us, but he swooped in saving a few us"flynt said as eria heard that some of the people here understand her dumb leader wasn't a monster.
Perun sighed in relief"thank you seriously a few people keep messing with them about it"perun said in relief as flynt sighed
"Well then if ya ever in Atlas avoid Leah from Team VRML"he warned to their confusion
"Uhh the team Bashira and her team faced"perun asked as he nodded
"Why would i avoid her?"eria asked concerned
"Girl hates you all right now blames yah for Matu death. Though yall hear from that schnee girl?"he asked about weiss
"Oh shes here in argus actually though her mother coming soon to take her home"eria answered
Flynt nodded"alright well gotta go catch a bullhead, tell her I said hi. Oh and that moved she pulled during the festival i still dig it"he said as he left the group as apollo looked over at eria smiling.
The music store owner came from the counter to greet her as he offered a hand. She took it shaking it as the music store owner smiled.
"Its nice seeing you two together right now lighting head"apollo said to his son who smiled.
"Yeah. she wanted to stop by and say hi real quick"perun said
Orchie was dusting off a electronic piano right now with a cloth"really well I think your mom and sis are here man."she said
"Really, uh do you wanna go say hi?"perun asked eria
Eria thought for a moment for a moment before nodding in agreement. Perun wheeled her over to the back as apollo held the door open to it. Then the music store owner went back to manning the front desk.
In the back room of the music store was a small lounge like area it seems. Though near the corner of the room sat a piano. Right now playing a small little tune that was slow and sweet melody playing right now.
Eria sat their listening to it as she looked to see her boyfriend little sister playing the piano. While his mother was sitting next to her smiling a little. The two sat their listening to the young crosby girl play a gentle melody for a few minutes
Melody pressed down on a few more piano keys until the stopped. Tempstas smiled at her rubbing the top of her head.
"Good job sweetie that was fantastic. You'll do great tomorrow"tempstas complemented melody who smiled.
Eria looked at them as she slowly clapped for them as this caught their attention the frozen girl was clapping a little as perun joined in for a bit. The two did a small slow clap as melody looked a little puzzled. But stood up bowing to them which made tempstas chuckle.
"Seems we had an audience for our pratice performance"tempstast said walking over offering a hug as eria accepted it.
"Its nice to see you here. Though were that sister of your at this time?"tempstas said removing herself from eria.
"Oh she with her boyfriend and emerald right now. Their meeting jaune on a project she been working on for him"eria answered
"Not surprised really. Though it seemed to keep in her high spirits right now"perun commented as he was right.
Tempstas nodded"yes. I recall when i first met you two she was always so sad. But after tinkering her heart away she seemed to change her tune"tempstas said
Perun chuckled"seriously mom you and your music puns"he said as he walked over to the piano his little sister was at.
Perun kneeled a little to get on her level"hey why don't you show me what you been praticing?"he aksed
Melody nodded as she readyed herself then began to play on her piano while perun took a seat next to her. Tempstas sat on a nearby couch that eria wheelchair was situated near. The two watched for a bit as they listened to them play for bit.
Tempstas hummed a little to the tune for a bit while eria smiled a little seeing this. When she heard that his little sister couldn't play the piano again all that time ago. She wanted to help him out to see if he was interested in her. But it warmed her heart a little seeing that his little sister could do something she loved.
"You know we still can't thank your family enough for what you did for us"temptas said joyful while the piano could be heard playing
"Umm well we thought helping out our friends was the right thing to do"Eria replied softly
"Really? Giving a little girl her a new arm that she lost due to infection is helping a friend out"tempestas said gesturing toward melody and perun. Eria looked seeing the young crosby girl smiling while she played the piano with her brother sharing it.
"I may not know how prosthetics work but giving someone the ability to walk, breath, see, taste and even smell. "She begun as eria listened..
"Its a miracle at times. When she lost her arm she was so heart broken she'd never play again"she added sadly
"I remember, you guys couldn't really afford a prosthetic for her at the time. "Eria replied as she nodded
"Their also the day your father came in with measure tape. We were confused why he was here, how he said he wanted to give her a prosthetic. When he asked for how much he said it was free curiosity of you two"she said looking at eria who smiled a little.
That day was actually really nice, because her and rogue negotiated with their father on getting her a new arm. He was hesitant at first until she suggested that her and rogue go to one of his weapon expos. This made her father change attitude quickly as he agreed to do it. But she recalled getting thrown into the crowd of people because of one of his weapons.
But she was right that these prosthetics are miracles for those who lost a limb or the ability to do something. Though she felt like she didn't deserve it, her father hasn't asked her about it. But she knows he just wants her to consider it.
"I just thought…that someone should have the ability to do something they cherished"eria stated proudly as she smiled.
Tempstas noticed this as they watched the two play for a bit more. After about ten minutes they stopped as perun ruffled his sister head smiling.
"That was great mel."he complimented her
"Thank you big brother"meldoy thanked as he got up as she jumped down from her seat.
"So how was it snow angel?"he asked as eria looked toward melody waiting for a response.
"It was..beautiful"she complimented as melody smiled walking over hugging her to their surprise. Eria softne her gaze returning it as the small crosby girl smiled.
"Thank you for my arm"melody thanked as eria went a little wide eyed. But she just patted the girl on the back of the head smiling.
"It was nothing"eria said as seh glanced down at her missing right leg. She looked a little sad thinking about some of the things she misses. Though she still needed time to think about making this decision. Soon enough the two decided to leave his store as they made their way back to the house.
Though in the nikos residents weiss was sitting in the living room right now. She was humming to herself right now as she was reading a book. For the past weeks she felt free still from that father of her grasp. Being able to what she wants and when she wants. Though part of her still feels guilt for what happened to her friend.
If she just reacted a little sooner maybe rosemary wouldn't have taken her fellow ice queens right leg. But she also dreaded the next few days hoping that her father wasn't coming. She rather have her mother right now, though their barrely been any news on her father company which was a little strange to her.
She assumed that he say something about the heriness to the schnee company went missing. But her mother must have told him she was fine hopefully. Though she been doing her best to comfort thetis for her hospitality.
Thetis meanwhile was close by as she sipped some tea staring at an old photo album. The women was looking at old pictures of her daughter and husband.
Thetis sighed as she lifted her glasses wiping a small tear away that well up.
Weiss noticed this as she placed her book down placing a book mark in it.
"Umm are you alright?"she asked concerned
Thetis sniffed"a little just remembering some of the fond memories i made with my little girl and husband"thetis answered
Weiss didn't hear much about pyrrha father at all. The only thing she knows is that he passed away about six years ago it seems.
"Thats nice, though pyrrha rarely talked about her father sometimes. "Weiss said
'Her and him were close back in the day. She wanted to be a huntress to protect others who can't protect themselves. Peleus when I first met him when he attended Haven was an interesting man back in the day"thetis explained
"How so?"weiss asked
Thetis thought for a moment closing her eyes taking a slow breath composing herself.
"That he was much like our daughter always friendly with others. Always quick to action when someone needed help no matter the situation. He also had that righteous personality of his daughter as well. When I first met him, he wanted to be the best huntsman around. Though instead he started a family and used his skill to make the world a safer place for his family"thetis finished smiling at the photo album.
The picture she was on was her in a hospital bed holding a tuf red on a girl head in a swaddle who was sound asleep. Along with a man who shared the same charastersics as her smiling in the picture.
Weiss smiled a little because it reminded her of her grandfather on her mother side.
"Thats..very sweet "weiss said
Thetis smiled"you don't need to keep calling me that dear call me thetis"thetis said smiling
"Uh okay Thetis…that was very sweet."weiss said as she messed with her hands for a bit.
"You know it kinda reminds me of my grandfather"weiss said as thetis hummed at this.
"Nicholas schnee huntsman and founder of your family company"she said knowingly as weiss nodded
"Yes I recall how he would be described to be a man of adventure. Despite running a company and family it seems. He always found time to help those in need whenever possible"weiss beugn smiling remembering her grandfather.
"Alot of people respected him for what he did for those in need. His employees also treated him with kindness because he showed them the same kindness. Even if someone was a faunus or human regardless of their race. He'd treat them with the same respect and fairness like no other. Along with always putting himself in danger to save those in need"weiss said but turned to a small frown.
"But..he died due to an illness when my brother wren was born. Then…before he passed my father convinced him to take his company over in hsi stead"weiss sadly said
Thetis walked over taking a seat next to her as she placed a hand on weiss back. Weiss flinched a little as she moved back away from her. Thetis soften her gaze as weiss could tell that type of reaction angered her a little.
"Umm uh sorry i don't like people touching my back"Weiss replied nerovusly shutting her eyes expecting to get hit.
"Its alright dear I understand. But that father of yours…in my opinion he's ruined your family company for far too long"thetis said
Weiss sat their for a bit opening her eyes slowly looking down at how she reacted.
"Your not…mad how i pulled away?"she hesitantly asked to thetis surprise
"Why would I?"She asked as weiss looked down
She messed with her hands for a second explaining"because…i was always told to be the perfect daughter. "Weiss explained while thetis listened.
"That if i was going to Beacon father said try to get on a team with uh…pyrrha and the twins"weiss said as thetis looked a little concerned.
"Why's that?"thetis asked
Weiss sighed because she never really told her teammates or friends. But when she wanted to attend Beacon her mother was all for the idea. Saying how that it was nice seeing her kid pursue different and interesting careers. But her father said for her to go she needed to uphold their name, more like his image.
Along with that he wanted her to try and convince the hayley sister father to sell his company. Their was also him trying to convince her to have pyrrha by sponsor for their she tried to uphold that image for a few days, instead she wanted to make her own choices. Not follow his rules to make him look better.
Weiss looked down"he wanted me to try and…convince the twins father to merge with the SDC company and have pyrrha as a sponsor for events"weiss sadly replied
Thetis sighed"alot of people have came by asking the same thing to me. But i'm sure my daughter would say yes to that stuff. "Thetis begun as she smiled a little.
"Though i know they just want to use the famous girl for her status not who she was. "Thetis said looking at weiss
"But you didn't follow through with how he wanted you to live your life"thetis said as weiss nodded
"Your not wrong…when i met everyone their it was nice. Not upholding some dumb image for him or listening to his rules. I wanted to become a huntresses to help people like my grandfather did"weiss said
"Extactly though, i hope your mother is the one who arrives"thetis said as she stood up as weiss looked at her. She agreed with the women because she rather have her mother here than that snake.
"Is it because you rather see her than him"She asked as thetis nodded
The calm women then walked over with her photo album in hand as she placed it on a shelf.
"Though if I see your father i may sock him across the face"thetis said to wiess surprise that someone like her would say that. But weiss just giggled a little thinking about that as thetis smiled. The two continued their day their reminsaing and talking about the good times.
In the hayley reisdnets later in the eria was getting ready to head to bed for the night. Perun dropped her off as he had to head back home. Though she couldn't help but think about the benefits of having a leg again.
Though she still needed time, dinner was quiet that night. Her sister and their two other guest were back. In her and rogue room eria was already in her pajamas as she layed in her bed. While rogue was sitting on her staring at her scroll.
Eria looked over seeing her sister with a sadden look on her face which worried her.
"Rogue is everything alright?"eria asked her sister
The blonde immediately looked over at her placing her scroll down messing with that piece of red cloth on her hand.
"Umm yeah sis just thinking about stuff is all"rogue replied
Eria soften her gaze wondering if she was thinking about their deaths right now.
"Rogue look…your thinking about our friends we lost aren't you?"eria asked knwoignly
Her sister looked down"yeah its just…i miss them alot right now. I just wish they were still here"rogue replied
"Same here but we just need to…take time and grieve for them. Their all probably smiling down on us right now"Eria said
Rogue smiled a little as she picked up her scroll looking at it for a bit. Eria could guess her sister was either looking at a weapon magazine or at some old pictures on her scroll. It reassured that her sister seemed to be handling it well right now.
"Hey uh eria"rogue said as eria looked over at her.
"Yes is something wrong?"she replied
Rogue placed her scroll down as she layed her head down on her pillow turned away from her. She pulled her sheet over as she nuzzled into her bed.
"I just wanted to say I love you sis"rogue said
Eria wasn't caught off guard by this but just smiled a little at her sister.
"I love you too rogue"eria said as she layed her head down. Rogue reached over turning the light off as the two sister soon drifted off to sleep for a new day. But unknown to eria was that she might be seeing her sister for the last time tonight. Because in the dead of the night three figures left the hayley residents heading toward the airdocks. They met with another figure as the four got on a bullhead to head off to somewhere
It seems weiss talked a bit about her family history along with the crosby trying to give eria some motivation to walk again. Though soon enough something terrible will happen to the hayley family. Thanks for reading!
