Chapter 13 Blue:Awoken
In the dark area Zane stared at the final door in front of him. After this he would probably wake up to his teammates staring over him. Although he hoped that whatever was in this door wasn't too bad. If the last one is him it's probably his monster form or something.
Bane casually walked infront of him standing their as he always manages to appear at random whenever hes about to go through the door.
"Welp guess this is it huh"zane said looking at the final door.
"Seems so, though what do you think will be in their?"bane replied
Zane thought long and hard about the final door. He made a few theories about it one being that it will be him fighting himself. Another would be him experiencing the memorie of killing penny again. But the third was him confronting something and accepting it or something.
"Something that i'll need to face since its my last memorie."Zane replied simply as he decided to get this over with.
He went to the door as he grabbed the handle, he pressed down on it opening the final door. The bright light was their and he took another breath before jumping head first into whatever their was. Zane stepped through the light closing his eyes.
Soon he was in the final area where his memories were. But this he was in a tunnel of sorts, it looked to be amity arena. Zane sighed at this because he seemed to guess what the final memorie would be.
The most recent one that hurts him and haunts him till this day. Zane started to walk toward the arena as bane was no where to be seen this time. Zane thought he got transported somewhere else but all of this was really strange. But he continued to make his way to the center of the arena to finish this.
In romans safehouse Nebula, May and liam were still awake talking with each other. Nebula was eating a candy bar as the soldier talked about a few things to pass the time. The others were still asleep but cardin and yumi soon stirred awak.
"Hey guys…what time is it?"cardin asked as he stretched his back yawning. Yumi slowly got up rubbing her eye yawning covering her mouth.
"You've been asleep for a couple hours. We should start moving out soon."Nebula answered as she ate her candy bar.
Cardin and yumi joined the group in their conversation to pass the time with was talking about the tournament and more importantly may match. Him and leon watched it apparently, liam had some words to say about it.
"So saw your match during the vytal tournament pretty impressive I say"Liam complimented the young sniper.
May smiled a little from the complement"thanks…but guess that faunus girl was the better shot than me. Even my stupid eye didn't help me"may said confusing some of them.
Cardin raised an eyebrow at this looking at May. What did she mean by that she does have her one eye. But the other is covered by her beanie he just thought she was missing an eye is all.
"What do you mean by that?"Cardin question.
May sighed as she covered her left eye. Then she slowly removed her beanie to show them what she meant by that. As she did the group was a little shocked. Her left eye was amber color mechanical eye. It looked to be a prosthetic though that does explain a few things.
"So thats how you could see onxyia so far away during the match"Yumi said
May nodded her head as she covered up her eye with her beanie.
"Yeah, its impressive it has variable zoom on it, nightvision and infrared. Pretty handy for a sniper"may replied
Liam chuckled a little at this"man your sounding like leon now. You snipers also say how handy the tools for a sniper is. Along with saying how important it is to make the shot for your kill. "Liam added
Yumi looked at may tapping her chin for a moment"how'd you get it exactly was it an accident or something"yuma asked softly.
"Oh I was born without an eye, its called anopthalmia. A condition where your born without eye because they didn't fully develop or something"May replied
"Really…well how exactly did you get a new eye. Prosehteic are pretty expensive"cardin added
"It took a bit but I was offered an experimental treatment for it. They had to move a few things around in my head to make room. Though everytime I walk with it out its hard to walk around since i'm off balancaed a little"may replied
"Hmm well despite that yumi how long will it take us to traverse the tunnels?"nebula asked
The panda faunus countered her figner out a few times. Then she seemed to be thinking of something. The girl then looked at nebula with a serious expression.
"If we take some short cuts down their it'll be a half hour. "Yumi replied
"Perfect but once we get their you sure they won't fire upon us"Liam questioned.
"Don't know who ever roman helped may still be their or not. If they are lets just hope their all not crazy cannibals or something"yuma replied
After about thirty mort minutes of talking everyone in their group slowly stirred awake. The swat officers and despardo soldier were already loading up their gear. The injured officer seemed to be a little hurt in the shoulder.
But he said he will be fine if he uses a low cailber weapon instead of his rifle. Naca slowly rised from the couch as she stretched her arms. She yawned a little as she got got and did calf stretched.
"Guess we have more walking to do…yeah"naca said sarcastically
"Come on it won't be that bad, its great exercise"cardin replied as naca rolled her eyes
Velvet slowly stirred awake slowly opening her eyes. As she did she looked down at coco snuggling against her. Velvet blushed slightly as the fasion monger slowly woke up. Coco aviators were slightly off her eyes showing her eyes.
"Heyya bun….guess its time to head out?"coco asked half awake.
Velvet nodded as the girl slowly got off the rabbit. Coco stood up cracking her back a little. The couch wasn't that comfy though some of it was. Everyone grouped up as they waited for their next course of action.
Yumi walked near the stairs as she pushed a box out of the way. As she did underneath is was a large metal hatch. Liam walked forward and pulled it up. They looked down below into the darkness below them. Coco shivered a little as velvet held her hand reassuring her.
Soon enough liam cracked a glowstick dropping it down. Then he waited for a bit till it landed. Seem it won't be a long way to climb down. He looked toward everyone who looked at him.
"Alright lets rescue these survivors"liam said with confidence as the group made their way down the tunnels. They wonder what exactly they will run into down here. But also hoped they aren't on a wild goose chase.
Gwen was shfiting around on her sleeping bag like crazy. She was sweeting on her forehead as she held her eyes shut. She rolled around flexing her metal arm. The girl was having a nightmare it seems.
In the streets of vale gwen stood their in the middle of the street. It was deserted, it was exactly like that day during Vale. She looked around at the dead bodies in the street,debris covering the street with flipped over cars.
She started to walk down the street and as she did she looked down noticing her arm was back. Gwen examined her arm for a bit wondering how she got it back. As she did she heard a low growl coming from behind her.
The girl stood their frozen in fear wondering what it was. She slowly turned around to be met by a shadowy figure that looked to be Conri. Gwen started to walk backwards but she tripped and landed on her backside.
"No..no…please get away…leave me alone"gwen begged as she moved her right arm to protect herself.
But as she did all she saw was her missing arm with a bone and bloody stump their. Her eyes went wide as she began trying to back up. Maybe to escape the creature but she backed up into a wall.
Conri slowly got close to her as he leaned down sniffing her. Gwen closed her eyes scared about what was going to happen next.
Conri hummed a little"hmm yes be afraid…it makes killing you all the more entertaining."conri said to her. Before gwen could do anything she felt a sharp pain in her gut. Her eyes went wide as she looked down to see his hand in her chest.
Gwen coughed a little blood up as it went down her mouth. Soon enough she started to feel dizzy as she slowly slump over.
Gwen shot up from her sleeping bag breathing ertically covered in sweet. She looked around were she was, it was the supply depot they just taken back. Gwen looked around seeing her teammates Dew and Octavia close by in their own sleeping bags.
Earl was asleep in his while she looked up to see ophelia and Leon near a small fire talking it seems. Gwen slowly got out of her sleeping bag to join the two by the fire. Leon was using a small pan to heat some food up it seems.
He heard footsteps close by glancing to his side to see Gwen coming to join them. She grabbed a chair pulling it up to join studied the girls face, he sighed a little as he stoke the fire.
"Hmm have a nightmare kid?"leon asked as he moved the small pan around.
Gwen looked down at her metal arm flexing it then looked back up.
"You can say that…what time is it?'gwen replied
Ophelia tapped her chin than pulled out her scroll to check the time.
"Its five am, although that vance guy still hasn't come back"ophelia replied
Gwen rolled her eyes not wanting to talk about the guy. She understand he hates her but the guys been on everyone nerves. His dad was a criminal who should have been arrested but instead killed himself.
"Ok…so what?'gwen added
"Kid needs to be here when we leave. Plus he starting to worry poor nezumi"leon replied
"Really how so does that lady have a thing for the guy"ophelia playfully asked with leon putting his hand in the air. He moved it around telling her maybe.
"Alright so what the guy seemed to be fine by himself so what. We can grab him he should be in the store still"gwen added
Leon rubbed his hands as he removed the pan from the small fire. Then he set it on a small table to let it cool. Then he looked toward the two girls thinking of something.
"Kids hungry I think, you two go check on him. Make sures he okay and he didn't run off again"leon ordered
"Ughh make her go me and him aren't on good terms"gwen added
"Maybe because you keep smack talking about his dead family. How would you like it if someone talked bad about your parents, siblings or even your little nebula,"ophelia said knowingly.
Gwen wanted to tell her that it was different. But the girl shuffled herself to face away from the two. She groaned internally at what she just said. Ophelia was right if it was her parents or nebula that died. But if someone started to spread rumors or slander their names she would be mad.
Gwen stood up and started to walk toward the door. Once she got their she looked at ophelia looking at her if she was coming. Ophelia got up and grabbed sunbreaker as they made their way toward the store where vance.
It wasn't a long walk since it took them maybe five minutes to get their. Once they did they noticed a small light in the store. They went around toward the backdoor, it was still unlocked and they went inside.
Once inside they turned a corner slightly seeing vance in the middle of the room. Their in the middle he sat their staring at a hat in front of him with some vial in his hands. He was looking at it staring at it.
As the two walked inside slowly a creak could be heard from the floorboards. Vance's ear perked up as he turned around quickly with his weapon at the ready. Soon he relzied it was them, he scoffed as he turned around looking at the stuff infront of him.
"Hey vance we came to–"ophelia begun but he stopped her.
"What do you want"he questioned impatiently.
Gwen sighed as she step forward to talk to him. He turned around looking from behind at her. They stood their in silence for a few minutes in silence.
"Look…Leon made some food. He's wondering if your hungry. "Gwen begun.
"Okay tell him i'm not hungry"vance interutped.
"Let me finish….also I wanna apolgize for what i've said to you"gwen said as the lynx ears perked up. He slowly got up turning to them with curiosity.
"Really? Is this some sort of trick"vance questioned crossing his arms.
Gwen shook her head as she looked at her right arm. She gripped her forearm with her other hand staring at it. She took a deep breath, then looked back up at the lynx.
"Alright, I know i've been a jerk about my arm. It's just I thought it'd be easier to blame your cousin. Also messing with that rabbit girl wasn't nice as well along with spreading those I didn't want to accept it was my fault in first place. "Gwen begun as she looked down clutching her prosthetic arm.
"I was distracted, I thought nothing could stop us since it was soo easy dealing with the grimm. But then that thing came….he tore my arm off. It still scares me till this day sometimes. When I saw that scar guy say your cousin was one of them"gwen continued looking to the side.
"I…thought he orchestrated it, I was also mad his team beat us. But..from how you've been acting you must have cared for him alot along with your dad. We wouldn't have gotten the help we have today thanks to him"Gwen finished
Vance looked at the vaocu girl whos been slandering his father and cousin name for a month. He clenched his fist closing his eyes tight. Then he relaxed his fist unfolding it before staring at her.
"Your right…i'm just mad that I could't save them. Dad gave me a new home when slavers tooks my parents. He welcomed me with open arms and treated me like his own son. And Zane's, aunt Nadia already lost him before…now she lost him again. "Vance replied as he stared at romans hat.
"Though you shouldn't have treated her like that I heard from my baby sis he cared alot about those two. You should be ashamed of yourself for doing something that curel"he added
Gwen sighed"i…kinda am now…i'll apologize to her and put a stop to those rumors"she replied as he eyed her for a moment sighing
"Right now your on a good start for making it up to me…..but you got a long ways too go still"vance said as he grabbed the bowler hat packing it up. Then he pocketed the syringes in his pocket. Then he picked his pack up as he walked outside past them toward the supply depot.
Ophelia looked at gwen with a smug smile and gwen stared at her.
"What?"gwen asked narrowing her gaze at her.
"Oh nothing finally owning up to you being a jerk finally. Though he still seems to hate you but thats a start"ophelia replied.
Gwen chuckled a little looking at her right arm. She relaxed her fingers as she nodded toward the girl. The two nodded toward each other as they went back to join vance. All they had to do was wait for the soldier to arrive and their misison was done.
In the tunnel zane slowly walks though it remembering how he walked down toward the final dual. His foot steps echoed as he resided his falcata swords in hand. Zane felt like he's been walking for hours at this point.
But soon enough he reached the end and a bright light obscured his vision. He blocked the light with his hand as he walked out. He adjusted his vision slowly as he saw what was in the middle of the arena.
A bright light of him in his slasher form stabbing penny in the gut. Next to it was bane with his arms behind his back watching it.
Zane narrowed his gaze as he walked over toward him. As he did he looked around the place noticing their were people in the crowd. All their faces obscured by a black smoke, all of them looking down at him.
Soon enough he made it to were bane was as he stood next to him looking at him. Bane looked up slightly at zane and the two stared at each other.
"So…this is my final room dealing with the guilt of penny"zane said looking at the girl in his arm getting stabbed. The memory replayed everytime he dropped her to the ground. Then he would back up away in fear from it.
"maybe, what do you think the last obstacle you must face is"bane aksed knowingly.
Zane looked toward bane as the two eyes met with each other. Crimson eyes and dark blue eyes met with each other. Zane looked down breathing to himself trying to compose himself. Then he looked back up to see bane change his appearance.
Their in front of him was him in his monster form. He stood their silently waiting for zane to do something. The creatures tail whipped around slowly as he waited for him to speak.
"Is this final room…accepting my actions for what I did to her?"zane questioned.
"No, something else entirely child"bane replied in a distorted voice.
Zane closed his eyes as he cupped his chin. He took a deep breath in and out. It felt he was their for minutes thinking of the proper response. Then he slowly opened his eyes looking at bane.
Bane titled his head at him waiting for the answer to be given to him. Zane slowly walked forward to him as he sheathed his swords on his back. As he walked Bane stood their silent and still waiting for him to do something.
"Your here to guide me, my mind probably made you to help me accept that my actions will have are afraid of me now, there is so much guilt right now for what I did to penny. I thought I deserved to die in this city. Though their were people who cared about me, but i'm still scared I could hurt them"zane begun as bane looked at him.
Zane paced around bane for a bit slowly going in a he did he crossed his arms while he circled stood their looking at him as he circled him.
"I know….that i'm a monster, a grimm there's a part of me I know that wants to see my friends and family again. I want to make sure he never controls me again. Although their you the grimm side of me who seems to be on my ?"zane said
Bane slowly cracked his jaw as he answered his question"The question of why i'm different will be answered when your ready. But right now you need to wake up, you know deep down in that city you wanted to live. Along with wanting to protect your friends and family. "Bane began as he put his arms down like a dog it seems.
"Though you think they will hate you for what you did. They may at first but you can fix those bonds over time. So are you ready ?"bane finished.
Zane took a deep breath as he stared at bane."I blame myself for my actions still, but if I want to redeem myself. I might as well start with my teammates, friends and family. I may be a monster, it'll take me time to accept it. But i'm ready"Zane said looking at bane.
Bane soon turned into the copy of zane smiling. Then another bright flash of light appearing transporting them back to the middle of the room with doors. The ball of light stood their on the ground and zane walked toward it.
Zane was ready to touch it but looked toward Bane who had a sad look on his face.
"What's wrong, you sad i'm leaving"zane asked
"A little yes, though I hope when you wake up you relize something. That when the times comes when I tell you what I truly am you accept it"bane said smiling and zane return it with a gentle nod.
Then he looked at the ball of light as he rested his hands on it. Soon enough a bright flash went off and their in front of him was another door. But it looked to be colroed white and as he got close to it. Their was a warmth coming off it, he grabbed the door knob.
He turned the knob opening the door and looked at bane. The copy of him nodded for him to go through. Zane then stepped through the light to wake himself from up from his deep sleep.
In the tunnels the students and soldiers were making their way through the sewers. Coco had on a pair of goggles it seems that have night vision or something. But she still stood close to velvet a little scared.
Yumi was in the front leading them through it was they followed some graffiti telling them where to go. They followed a bowler hat on the wall that had arrows undenreath it. The sewer system was dark and it smelled like someone died down here.
Nebula gagged a little as they walked downt he sewer"jeez seriously could they have hide somewhere else maybe. It reeks down here"nebula said
"Well it might hide their scent from the grimm although they've been probably hiding their emotions as well."naca added
"Yeah that must have been hard maybe they got someone like Ren down here"cardin suggested.
"What do you mean by that?"nebula questioned.
"Ren can mask emotions sort of like a cloaking field to grimm"coco answered
"Impresive in my opinion kinda like your own camouflage"liam replied as they continued down the tunnel.
With each step they made it echoed down the tunnel. They continued walking as they passed and stepped through large puddles. Along with small rats in the tunnel along with a few grimm. Thoug they dealt with the grimm quickly.
After about five more minutes of walking they looked down the tunnel. Their was a ladder down their with debris spilling from it. Yumi smiled at this because they seem to have made it too their destination.
"Alright were here but be ready incase their jumpy"yumi warned.
"Don't worry we'll make sure not to get shot, we treeked through five miles of sewages and tunnels for them. Rather not die after coming all the way here"nebula replied
"Though heres a question who are these people exactly yumi?'naca questioned.
Yumi got quiet as she stood their silent to herself. She looked away from them and especially cardin. She dind't want to tell them exactly who they were rescuing. If she she they would probably arrest them or kill them maybe.
"Look you need to understand one thing about these people….their not dangerous. "Yumi said simply.
"That doesn't really answer our question"coco added
"Yeah what are they criminals, bandits, white fang or something"may added in as she crossed her arms around her rifle to hold it.
Yumi took a deep breath and looked at them worried. Then she walked towards a wall leaning against it. She crossed her arms looking at the group.
"Their all ex white fang"yumi said as the groups eyes went wide the people their rescuing are white fang. Liam narrowed his gaze toward the girl and looked anger.
"You sent us to save white fang, seriously they could be dangerous. They probably played you and their spys. "Liam replied
"Yeah and what do you mean by ex white fang. You can't exactly leave their group"nebula said
"Uhh actually we had two people from Beacon who were ex White Fangs"velvet shyly said as they all looked at the beacon students.
"What?!"may,nebula, naca shouted. They echoed down the tunnel as the faunus in the group covered their ears. They were so loud grimm probably heard them above. Which they hoped didn't happen.
"Arghh ow, look these guys aren't dangerous. I promise one of them you may know"yum said as the beacon studnet looked at her.
"Really who would that be exactly?'cardin questioned as he crossed his arms.
"Does the name Xander blair ring any bells?"yumi asked as velvet,coco,cardin and may eyes went wide.
"Wait that onxyia chicks brother, why would he be here"may asked a little surprised and wasn't paying attention to this because he heard something. He look down the tunnels as something moved around a corner. It looked to be bug like in appearance but he turned his attention to the others.
"What wolfies brother doing here i thought he'd be in menagerie"velvet replied
Cardin shook his head"nah heard from her that she was trying to find him to make him leave. Guess he finally did it"he simply said but felt a little bad still what he did to her back then.
Nebula groaned"that doesn't tell us why exactly they left?"she asked looking toward yumi.
Yumi sighed as the group continued to walk toward the entrance to the group followed her but liam readied his rifle for anything along with his men. The others did as well incase they were being lead into a trap.
"Look they can tell you why they left. Just please don't shoot them alright"yumi begged with a few of them nodding. Soon they got to the entrance, but what they saw surprised them.
Their infront of them was a large ice wall covering the entrance. Yumi looked a little confused by this because this was definitely not here walked up putting her hands against it. She recoiled a little as it was freezing cold.
"Jeez heck of a way to barricade yourselfs"nebula commented rubbing her hand that was a little red from the cold.
"Yeah…but seriously it's so cold"naca said shivering as she rubbed her arms. The girls attire did lack some sleeves it seems.
They looked for some way to contact who evers inside. But coco seemed to have an idea. She looked toward velvet who looked at her wondering what the girl was planning exactly. Because with the face she was giving her it sounded like it could be dangerous.
"Oh no..what are you planning coco"velvet questioned with worry looking at her.
Coco hummed a little as she looked at velvet camera stroking her chin fashion monger had an idea for how they were going to get through the ice wall.
Inside the safehouse trifia and some others gathered in the center to discuss some things. More importantly how their going to run out of food in a week. Everyone looked a little down since their call for rescue hasn't come yet.
Trifia was upset too at this because maybe it didn't go through. And ethans scarfiece for them would have gone in vain. Along with all the other people they've lost while they've been down here.
"So are we sure rescue is coming anytime soon?"Tia questioned, a little concerned.
"Yeah i'm with her…what if they didn't get our message"rob added a little sad. He and yuma seemed to get along with Ethan. Yuma crossed his arms as he sighed beginning to rub his head.
"Hes right, if that happens were screwed"he sadly said
"Ughh i can't stand being down here anymore i feel like i'm going crazy"jae stated as she hated being trapped here for so long.
Trifia looked toward them as she walked from side to side and began to talk. She needed to reassure them rescue will come soon, she hoped.
"Look, they may be coming sooner or later. Right now we just gotta hope they get here soon. I know your all scared but help will come I promise you"trifa said
"But were out of iv bags now, so sleeping beauty will probably die in a few days without proper nutrients"akasha reminded
"If that happens then…we did all we could alright. Also if rescue doesnt come we'll have to make our way over their by ourselve. We'll–"trifia begun but then a loud explosive rang out form above. Then debris of ice rained down on them.
Some of the people in the group screamed but a few looked at each other. But it also could be a grimm attack and some of them rushed to the armory. Trifia pulled out her knife as she shot a web toward the railing launching herself upward. She vaulted over it ready to attack who ever was their.
Akasha rushed up the stairs with her shotgun at the ready. Alot of other grabbed some weapon incase it was a grimm attack. They all got up there in a hurrie to investigate what exactly happened.
About a few minutes ago in the medical tent xander was busy at work preparing some medical equipment. He was near the sink as he washed his hands after changing zane iv drip bag. It was their last one they had.
Xander after washing his hands for a few minutes shook them off as he turned the handle to shut the water off. Then he grabbed a nearby rag as he dryed his hands off. As he was finishing he looked down at ben necklace around his neck.
He had a somber look on his face remembering the day those two joined.
Five months ago
In vale city two faunus boys were walking the street side by side with each other. It was xander in his usual attire along with Ben. The two were exploring vale for a bit after they were done with their studies at signal. They had to take a ferry to get across but the two were in awe struck at the city.
"Man, is this place something right ben?'Xander asked
Ben slowly nodded to him"yeah…though shouldn't we be getting back soon. It getting quite late"ben mentioned with worrie his voice.
Xander waved his hand at him telling him everything was fine.
"Hey relax we'll get back on time, I wonder if sis is around"xander replied
The two continued to walk down the street. But as they did a familiar person stuck out to xander. As he looked closer he noticed a man in a brown shirt with some black wore some sneakers that were brown with gold laces. Along with that his skin was tan and his hair was black and gold hair stood their leaning against a pole.
"Ollie?"xander said as he walked toward the man.
The spider faunus looked up toward the wolf smiling toward him.
"Hey your onxyia little brother what was your name"Ollie replied as he had it on the tip of his tongue.
"Its xander"xander told him as the spider faunus smiled.
"And if I recall your little ben right?"ollie asked looking toward ben.
Ben nodded"yeah that me"ben said not exactly liking that name it seems.
Ollie stood up as he stretched his arms a little. As he did he looked at the two smiling a little. Then he scratched his chin for a moment.
"Hey you guys wanna help me with something tonight?"ollie asked
"Maybe….what is it?"xander asked a little curious while ben seemed to worry what he was going to ask them.
Ollie clapped his hands together rubbing them"well tonight me and some people in a little group for faunus are going to get something to help us with getting our message across. Wanna help make humans regret messing with faunus?"ollie questioned.
Xander stood their as his ears twitched around while ben looked worried a wolf seemed to be deep in thought and he smiled. Then he offered a hand to ollie who smiled as he shook it.
"Sure anything for a friend"xander replied smiling as ollie grinned from ear to ear. Then he looked toward ben glaring at him. Then ben gently nodded his head saying he was in.
Present
Xander sighed as he was the reason Ben got involved that night. Ollie said they weren't going to hurt the owner and just take the weapons and sell them. Then when ben died ollie convinced him to with their efforts.
After that he started to regret his actions slowly over time. Along with finding out ollie was ben killer. He still coulnd't believe someone her and his sister knew for years would do that. Him and Adam ended up in menagerie and they were welcomed with open arms.
They both joined the White Fang and participated in protest. But soon enough aunt sienna left control to them because she had a family to raise. She didn't want to risk them getting hurt. But after that those two turned the White Fang into murders and killers.
Xander pushed the though back for now not to dwell on it. All he could do is hope everything will be okay right now. He walked around the medical tent as he looked at zane who slept their.
"Really hoping you can tell me if sis got out okay soon"Xander said outloud as he sat their watching him.
But then he heard a loud explosion as he looked outside the tent. He saw everyone rushing upstairs as he saw small piece of ice around the stairs and safehouse. Xander rushed inside grabbing his weapon to join the others up top.
The group soon slowly made their way through the tunnel. An icy smoke covered the hole they made. Velvet had a rocket launcher in her hands that soon undigitized from them. As they made their way through the tunnel they coughed a little from the smoke.
"Dam…this smoke is pretty thick"cardin complained as he covered his mouth.
Naca let out a cough a little"your telling me, seriously what type of plan was that?"naca asked looking at coco who smiled.
"Hey…it worked didn't it, now we can rescue the survivors. Then head back to base and enjoy ourselves for a job well done"Coco answered
Velvet and yumi held their ears as they were sore from the blast. With the sewer tunnel it made the explosion echo for them. Velvet ears flopped as she rubbed them whole Yumi covered her.
"Ughhh my ears are going to be sore for a week."yumi groaned glaring at coco. Coco shrugged her shoulder at the panda who rolled her eyes.
Liam held his rifle close for anything that could happen. The officers took point along with the other soldiers. Soon anough as the group got to the other end they were meet by several people surrounding the entrance. Some of them had weapons pointed at them. While others looked at them with worry and curiosity.
"Who are you people"Trifia demanded as she stared the group down examining them. She noticed a couple swat officers and some of the students' outfits. From their appearance they look to be huntsman and huntresses maybe.
Liam stepped forward poitng his rifle down"were the rescue team, were you the one that sent the broadcast a week ago?"liam questioned examining the group.
The group in front of them all looked at each other. They all seemed to be a little happier from the mention of their broadcast being heard. Trifia smiled as she motioned for the group to put their weapons down. They did just that as they holstered or sheathed their weapons.
"Finally we're saved"someone in the crowd cheered
"I thought we were goners"another added
Meanwhile in the medical tent Zane was laying in the bed as he layed their still. His heart rate monitor beeped at a steady rate. But soon enough he started to stirr awake slowly. He slowly opened his dark blue eyes.
He opened his eyes as he squitned due to the bright light in front of him. Almost immediately he regretted opening them because they raised his hand to cover the light as he slowly adjusted his vision.
As he did he felt something on his face. Zane relzied a mask was on him as he removed the breathing mask on him as he took a deep breath. It felt nice to finally get some air in. But he looked around where he was.
It was some small medical station it seems from the looks of it. Their was a surgical tray across the room from him. Along with cabinets that probably contain medicine. Their was also a biohazard bag. A heart rate monitor was near him to track his pulse along with a ventilator to provide him oxygen.
He rubbed his head as he slowly sat up, but as he did he felt sore and stiff all over. After being knocked out for who knows how long, his body would be stiff. When he stood up he felt a pain in his side a little. But there was also a sense of dizziness as he tried to shake it off.
Then he held his side as he looked down to see it banged up. His aura probably should have healed it but he did take alot of those supresenates. But he heard the beeping of the heart rate monitor looking at it and around him.
"Where the heck am I….how long have I been out?"zane said groggly to himself as he rubbed his eyes.
Their was a sharp pain in his right hand as he looked down to see a needle in it. He slowly followed the line as it led to an iv drip. Then he grabbed the needle slowly pulling it out of his hand. As he didit hurt a little but he rubbed his hand, a bit of a blood came out.
Then he slowly sat up as he tried to get out of his bed. As he did he stumbled a little as he fell to the concert ground below him. His legs felt like they were made of paper, that one step hurt like let out a groan as that did not feel right at all but it seems he was better maybe.
After failing to stand he push his arms up to get him far enough to grab a table nearby. He pulled himself up but as he did the process was a struggle. His entire bodie felt sore and his arms shook with each movement he made.
Then after a couple attempts, he finally managed to pull himself as he made his way out of the room he was in. As he did he emerged into some weird room in a sewer system it seems. Then he heard voice forms above as he slowly made his way up the stairs.
With each step he took it felt like his legs were ready to give out on him. But he persisted if he was going to find out where he was. As he made his way up the stairs he stumbled a little almost falling face first. But luckily he caught himself on the railing as he used it as support to get upstairs.
Meanwhile back upstairs the groups were conversation with each other about their situation. Along with most of them being very happy to be saved right now. Though the rescue group were still a little surprised they managed to survive down here.
"Finally…. We were starting to lose hope actually"trifia replied walking she did she noticed yumi with the group and was quite surrpsied to see her here.
"Hey wait a minute you're that panda faunus with that lazuli girl aren't you?"trifia asked as yumi nodded, stepping forward.
"Yeah, though seems you guys went through that plan of your after all"yumi replied
"We did and in my opinion it was worth it"trifia replied
Yuma and akasha stepped forward to talk to the group as well. Yuma had a somber look on his face with a small smile. While akasha just grinned from ear to ear at finally geting rescued.
"Hey I know you, wolf ears mentioned your her girlfriend right?"akasha asked velvet who blushed slightly.
"Yep thats me…though their used to be three of us. Polymary relationship nice to meet you"velvet greeted but the falcon had great news for her when she gets the chance.
"Were just happy you all got here finally"tia added
"Same here but we did have to wait for a very long time down here"rob pointed out as the women who hated faunus before rolled her eyes.
"Man it took you guys long enough we were starting to get board. Maybe start a new religion or something"yuma joked
Cardin laughed a little at the joke"good one, though didn't you say you had injured?"cardin questioned
Then a man in the crowd in doctors scrub stepped up to the group with his hands behind his back. He seemed to be the resident doctor of this sewer safe havan.
"Yes, we would have travel on the streets but we've had someone injured here. He is in a comatose state right now although we have someone watching him, "Ross said.
"Really how bad is his injuries"May questioned as she held her sniper rifle on her shoudlers.
"His shoulder was shattered, along with six broken ribs. Bruisesing across his face,arms, and legs. Along with that he received a stab wound to the abdomen and leg. Punctured his lungs even but we fixed it."Ross replied which made the group question how someone even alive receiving those injuries. But some were wondering how their going to transport someone through grimm infested streets.
"That seem pretty bad, you sure the guys even alive?"nebula added with Ross nodding to her.
"He's managed to recover from those injuries. Though we're lucky you got here before we ran out of iv bag to give him nutrients."ross added as they continued to talk.
Akasha stood their listening as she glanced to her side. She saw Xander there and faced forward. Then she took another glance at Xander standing there. Her eyes went a little wide because he was supposed to be downstairs.
"Xander what are you doing your suppose to be watching sleeping beauty?!"Akasha exclaimed getting their attention.
Then all eyes got on the wolf faunus as he nervously laughed. He started to rub the back of his head while ross sighed. Ross began rubbing his eyes a little annoyed.
"Seriously you treat the guy and you do the one thing a doctor shouldn't do…leave the patient unattened"Jae said
"Kid he could wake up any minute to check on him. Make sure to prepare him for transportation. '' Ross ordered as xander ear flopped a little as he nerovusly laughed.
"Yeah sorry my bad i'll get back their n–"xander started to talk as he was walking back downstairs. But he stopped in shock looking behind everyone. Trifia looked at him wondering what the kid was gawking at.
"Kid what is it we got grimm or something?"trifia asked as she turned around, her eyes went wide in surprise. Though the entire group of survivors turned in surprise as well at what they were seeing.
The group near the entrance were a little confused about what they were looking at. Though cardin began scanning the crowd for a bit then he looked to where they were looking at. As he followed their eyes toward what they were looking at he couldn't believe his eyes.
"No way,"Cardin said in disbelief with his eyes widdening, getting everyone else's attention in the group.
"What cardin you find someone hotter than yumi or something?"naca joked. Yumi pinched the girls arm hard. Naca flicnhed as she rubbed the spot she pinched.
Velvet couldn't really see behind everyone since some of them infront of them were tall. She jumped a little then moved around some too see what cardin saw. She narrowed her gaze as she covered her mouth, gasping in shock as tears began to flow down her face.
"What is it?"Liam questioned, worried about what they saw.
"Yeah Bun, is it something bad?"coco added wondering why she was shocked but noticed her smiling right now with tears.
Trifia relzied they might want to see whos their"everyone move out of the way, they might know him"trifia order
The crowd moved out of the way a little for the group to see who was their. They all were pretty shocked and couldn't really believe what they were seeing. There stood Zane holding his side as he used the railing to support himself. He let out some shallow breaths as he wrapped his arm around his waist.
He looked a little skinnier but he still had his muscles to him it seems. Zane was in a pair of green patient pants with no shoes on. His side was wrapped up along with his shoulder being wrapped up in bandages, with few small scars spread around his body. He looked sickly a little as he seemed to struggle with some breaths.
"Wait..but….he…he died"nebula said, baffled as she saw the guy who beat her team all those days ago standing there.
Coco pushed down her avitars a little as her jaw slightly drop a little."Guess he pulled through"coco replied still shocked.
May stared at the guy like she just seen a ghost right now. Naca then looked at him a little stunned. But she also saw someone in the crowd who she feel like she seens before.
Zane coughed as he pushed himself off the railing to walk a little. As he did he stumbled a little his legs gaveout, but Xander rushed over as he caught him. Although once he put his weight on the wolf, he struggled to hold the guy up a was a little taller than him.
"How are you still so heavy?"Xander asked, holding Zane up to make sure he didn't fall.
Zane chuckled a little as he winced, pulling himself up off the wolf faunus. Xander had him wrap his shoulder around him for he looked at the group near the entrance giving a small smile.
"guess….I beat…death again…it's…great to see.. you guys"zane said weakly as xander helped support his bodie. Cardin smiled as he walked over offering a hand to him. Zane raised his hand and grabbed it. But immediately velvet embraced him as his head was shoved near her bust.
"Your actually alive!..i…i missed you so much"velvet cired in joy as he blush slightly embarrassed but happy to see her face again.
"Hmm seems sleeping beauty finally wakes up….bout time"akasha said.
"Though i'm…famished…got anything to eat?"zane asked as he took another breath.
"I'll see what I can dig up"carver said as he went off to their makeshift kitchen.
The group decided to head in and discuss the situation at hand right now. But as they moved inside Naca looked at miyuki trying to place wheres she seen her before. Along with that as zane walked velvet noticed something on his back. Several glowing vein that glowed in a low light on his back near his scar.
It seems zane finally awoke from his coma after conquering that final door in his head. Cardin and his group seemed overjoyed to find their old friend, now all they gotta do is escape the safehouse. Till next chapter!
