Chapter 6 teal:Standing Up
It was a bright and new morning in the city of argus today. But right now in the hayley reisdents several people were their right now listening to someone declare something today. Right now it was around nine in the morning. As they all already had breakfast but alot of people were here surprised at what the other hayley daughter declared after yesterday.
"Wait your…actually consiering going through with the surgery today?"neptune asked surprised with a smile.
"Yeah i thought…you wouldn't do it since you've been so down lately"orchie added
"She right, what extaclty made you reconisder dear?"thetis asked as she sat at the ktichen table while the others sat around the place. Slater was their along with tempstas with melody. Apollo is running the shop right now since someone needed to do. While weiss was their surrpsied to hear this from her fellow ice queen.
Eria smiled a little thinning of her answer"when…rogue ran away yesterday it was a wake up call."She started as she looked down
"That if i'm going to fill the position as leader of our team. I need to be at full strength to properly lead them. Along with hoping my twin sister is okay out their, their also my partner. If shes alive…i'm sure shes hurt right now."eria started as she glanced at weiss with a small smile.
"But i'm also sure your worried about your teammates too"she said as weiss looked down a little messing with her skirt.
"I am..i know ruby and yang are probably back in the patch. But blake…i'm worried that she didn't make it. Who…even took her arm?"She asked
That was a good question to eria because she didn't know who took the cat faunus arm actually. Though she guessed maybe her father or perun knew since they saw them.
"Umm do you two know who did it?"eria asked looking toward her father and boyfriend.
Jaki looked down rubbing his eyes"honestly no, to my surprise they didn't tel me persumably a grimm took it"he replied
Though perun had a different answer"umm adam tarrus took her arm"he answered as they all looked at him in shock. The white fang terrotist leader or one of them the other being ollie weaver.
"Wait that nutty ex of her took her arm!?"neptune asked as they all looked at him conufsed for a second.
"Umm what are you talking about?"orchie questioned
"Yeah she dated that guy, ughh i feel bad for her parents"slater added disgusted
Melody was playing on her scroll for a bit, a piano game on it. Tempstas looked at orchie and slater as the two noticed this.
"Could you take melody to another room while we discuss this"she asked
"Of course"orchie said as her and slater grabbed melody as they took her upstiars while they all continued their discussion. As they did tempstas cupped her chin looking at weiss and eria. The two were nervous it seems as her eyes glowed a little and she could see an electricity current around the two.
For both of them it seemed to suggest both had a gray electric hue surrounding their bodies. Then she smiled as she guessed something that shocked the others.
"Your friend was ex white fang wasn't she"she knowingly asked as the two went wide eyed before turning away from them. While the others were shocked about this right now.
"Uhh what?"perun questioned confused
"Yes, dear what are you talking about?"jaki questioned as he held the case containing his daughters new prosthetic leg. While calida cupped her chin slowly piecing it togheter.
"Umm….what…she wasn't part of the white fang"Weiss replied trying to divert that topic
Eria nodded"yes those two were never with the fang"eria added but they looked at her because they asked about blake.
"Uhh were talking about blake dear, who else are you talking about?"tempstas asked as eria then immeailty blushed from embrassment as she tried to clear things up.
"Wait no..uh..i misspoke is all…i'm sorry i meant…that they…no she..uh"eria kept fumbling her words to their surprise. Including jaki and calida because she never really shows this much emotion which is a little heartwarming.
Perun scratched his head"okay i'm just gonna say it…your partner was ex white fang"perun said poitning toward eria who shook her head embrassed she let that one secret slip.
Weiss nerouvsly laughed"yeah, but don't worrie they both left for good reason. Along with several others"She stated
"What do you mean by that weiss?"thetis asked
Eria raised an eyebrow because who else extactly left the fang"yeah who…wait did her brother leave?"she asked
The schnee nodded"yes, him and several other defected from the group. Their probably on the run or something right now "She replied
Though as she said this the news was playing in the background. As it did something surprising poped up that peak her interest and the topic they were on. Along with that something shocking as she froze in her seat.
"This is lisa lavender reportin. From what we understand all of Atlas soilder have been pulled out of other nations and currently returning to Atlas. Some of which stay in the City of Vale to help with the efforts of the grimm. No one know why but some believe because of the recent dust embargo issued by councilmen and headmaster James Ironwood. We tried to reach out to him for a comment on the matter but he has yet to answer. In other news their have been people who claim to have left the White Fang. Their is a cash reward of three hundred lien for the capture for any white fang member. Along with that both their leaders whereabout are unknown. For Adam Tarrus he has a bounty of fifty thousand lien offered by Atlas military. This is lisa lavender sighing off"the news women reported as it went to commerical.
"Okay…i didnt see that coming"eria said pretty surprised that come on right now but made her worrie.
"Umm i'm honestly shocked that theirs a dust embargo"perun said
Weiss was frozen still wondering about that but a thought came to her head that made her worried. If that happened then her father would be extremtly mad right now. Which means he could be here today maybe.
"Hmm despite that wonder where our friends from beacon our at"neptune said with a grin as they all stared at him.
"You are not cashing in on my partner being arrested"eria coldy said pointing a finger at him. She seemed to be going back to her oldself.
"Fine, but seriously i wasn't expecting you to have white fang members in your school"orchie added surrpsied
"Well they had very good reason to leave"weiss replied sadly a little.
"Umm why exactly if you don't mind us asking?"perun asked hesitanltly
After a few second eria took a deep breath as she composed herself"my partner left after seeing ollie weaver shot a little girl. While for blake she got sick and tired of all the bloodshed"eria simply said as some of them were shocked.
Calida eye twitched a little as tempstas covered melody ears from that. The young girl was humming to herself. They were a little surprised to hear that, but soon calida just banged her head on the table as a loud thud could be heard.
"Okay…that is a very good reason to leave…your school enrolls many interested individuals"she stated calmly as possible as jaki backed up a little from her. He might love her but when she mad it isn't pretty.
"Yes, though that much money for adam tarrus. All the huntsman and huntresses in the kingdom will be after him for that reward"tempstas said
"I just hope they capture him soon, without a leader they could crumble"neptune added
"Lets just hope they find him"thetis added
"They will but…dear are you ready to head to the hospital"jaki asked his daughter who looked at him. Eria thought for a moment before nodding yes to him. He smiled at this as perun grabbed her wheelchair. Then the group immedialty made their way to the door. But as they did a knock could be heard to their surprise.
"Who could that be?"calida asked herself as she walked to the front door. Slater, orchie and melody were on the stairs ready to leave with them since tempstas told them to come down.
As the hayley mother opened the door to greet whoever was their she went wide eyed in surprise.
"Umm weiss dear you have a visitor"she stated as weiss looked over in worrie at the door. Thetis was close by as she prepared herself incase it was jacque schnee. Though calida had a small smile on her face.
Then she let three people step into the house, immedaitly weiss went wide eyed as did the others.
The first was a women with fair skinn and she had slate blue eyes. She had white hair that was in a low ponytail over her left shoulder. She had a slender frame to her and seemed to be old. She wore a white cravat secured by a silver brooch set with a red stone. Their was a light purple jacket with with lgiht sleeves on as well. Their was a wide belt that went around her waist. Along with a matching pencil skirt with black tights and white short heels.
The second was a sixteen year old with white hair and ligth blue eyes with a fair skin complexion. His hair is mostly pushed to the left, although he seems to have a cowlick. He is failry tall and had an atheltic build to him it seems.
He wore a short sleeve whtie dress shirt, the sleeves were fastened just above hie elbows by navy blue cuffs, each having twin gold buttons. Over his untucked shirt he wears a light blue vest with a black handerkerhcief in hsi right breast pocket. He also wears a black necktie, navy blue trousers and black dress shoes.
The third was a young child seeming to be maybe ten or eleven years old. He wore a white dress shirt that had the sleeves down. Along with that he wore a navy blue dress jacket unbutton right now as it had some tailcoats at the end of it. The buttons were black as he wore a pair of navy dress pants with black dress shoes.
The women smiled at her daughter"oh thank goodness your alright dear"she said relieved
"Yes, sister though uh our little brother missed you more"The boy said
Immedialty the younger child ran over as he hugged both of weiss leg as he hugged them tight. Weiss was a little surrpsied as she looked at her other brother.
"Weissy"the little boy said as everyone stared at weiss.
In a few seconds soon enough they laughed a little at that little name the kid called weiss. The ice queen just blushed embrassed at the moment but bent down hugging her little brother.
"I'm so happy to see you three"weiss said smiling.
"Yes, though you must be–"thetis begun as the women introduced herself to the group.
"I'm williow schnee, weiss mother and co owner of the SDC company"the women introduced herself as the co owner of the SDC company.
Then the boy stepped up with his hands behind his back"i'm whitley schnee weiss younger brother"he smuggly said as weiss narrowed her gaze smiling at him.
"Same as always whitley"she replied as whitley chuckled.
"As always dear sister though Wren missed you along with winter"he replied
The young schnee around weiss was the fourth sibling of the schnee siblings that being wren schnee. Wren let go of weiss leg as he jumped a little to her to be pick up. Weiss obliged as she did just that holding her younger brother
Wren smiled at her"sister"he said hugging her
Calida cooed a little because the younger schnee was cute because he looked like a butler in that outfit. Along with the other people in the room a little, because he could rival a certain silver eyed girls cuteness.
"Well aren't you just cute as a button"She coeed pinching wren cheeks slightly.
The older schnee mother walked into the house looking at the group wondering what was going on. But then she relized a certain family lived her because of the adresses she was given.
"Ah you must be the hayleys family. Owner of hayleys hardware if i recall"willioa said as jaki nodded still holding the case.
"We are but sorry to keep this short but we really need to be somewhere today ma'am"he replied as willow looked at the case in his hands. Then looked at eria in a wheelchair as she smiled a little.
"I see though which one of you is thetis nikos"willow asked as a few of them narrowed their gaze.
"Whos askign you here to ask her to use her daughter for branding or something?"neptune questioned
"Yeah because she aint becoming some dumb plushie"orchie added
"At least she aint doing it during a funeral"slater reminded them to eria confusion what he meant by that.
This cuaght williow off guard a little by those accusation"i'm not here for that…i wanna thank her persoanlly for looking out for my daughter. My oldest winter told me she was providng her a place to stay"willow said as thetis slowly walked over.
"Umm yes that me thetis nikos…mother of the champion fo sanctum"She sadly introudced herself
Williow soften her gaze before she dug through a small handbag. As she did she puled out a lien card in her hands to their surprise. Then she handed it to thetis who took it as she looked at it. The card read twenty thousand lien to the red head women surprise.
"Miss schnee..uh why are you giving me this?"She asked as williow sighed before stepping into the looked around because it was a simply home but it was nice. Not some grand mansion she lives in. Though it seems she wouldn't mind living in a place like this.
"To repay you for watching my little girl, i was worried sick when the fall happened. But when my eldest told me she was staying with you. I just wanted to repay for your work"she replied
Thetis looked a little surrpsied by this sighing"i..really don't need this miss. I only did it out of the kindness of my heart"thetis replied offering the card back.
Willow put a hand up"no, keep it think it as a thank you for your hard work"willow replied firmly as thetis thought for a minute before relenting.
The schnee mother then looked at her daughter" I'm sure your surprsied to see us here early"willow said
"A little i'm guessing your here because of the dust embargo?"weiss replied as she still held wren in her arms.
She nodded"yes, though I only just heard of it today. But enough of that your friend here i'm assuming needs to head to the hospital for surgery. If you want we can leave tonight when she get out"willow said as weiss thought for a moment before nodding yes to her.
Soon enough jaki left the house with his daughter in tow. Along with perun, neptune and the two other band members of days of mania joining them. The other stayed at the house waiitng for their return.
Soon enough the group got to the hospital, eria was already checked in for the surgery. But she couldn't help but be a little nervous about it. Because for one she was going to have a metal plate put into her leg. Along with a metal leg as well. This was a little scary because she done research on it along with her father talking about it.
Once they connected the missing nerves to your missing bodie part. Sometimes it can cuse pain inthe nerves that were severed. But if she was going to be a leader her team needed she needed to do this.
To be their for her partner and hope her sister comes back home soon.
"A little nervous about surgery i'm guessing snow angel"perun asked
"Yeah just relax it'll be fine"neptune assured
"Just…a little nervous about the surgery..i'm worried something might happen"eria replied with a nervous tone.
A doctor was in the room explaining the process to her along with her father being here as well. They wanted to make sure she understood what was happening. Though jaki couldn't contain his excitment it seems.
"Don't worry my little snow dancer everything will be fine. I made sure to make it as comfortable as possible for you when you use your new leg"jaki said with a smile as he then began to explain the leg.
"You see i used the finest ores i had in stock, so your leg will be waterproof, durable, flexible you name it. One of my finest projects right now, but I was glad to make something like this for you. Because it may have taken me a couple sleeples night but it was a succes"jaki added as he continued to explain the fine craftsmanship of the prosehteitc he made.
Soon enough orchie walked over placing a hand on him to stop before their brain overloads. Her father may be emotionless but he seems excited right now about this. Eria wasn't surprised since she could see rogue in him a little.
"Man i forgot that you and rogue are like that when you find something exciting"slater stated
"Yeah seriously your so emotionless sometimes ."orchie added
Perun nodded"but right now…your very happy, its scaring me"he joked as a couple chuckles could be heard.
Eria looked toward the doctor in the room"are you sure everything will be okay during the surgery?"she asked as the doctor answered.
"Yes we'll put you under asehetics. It might take about ten minutes to not hit any nerves in your thigh. Then it'll take another fifteen to install it, with your father already providng the necessary equipment. We should get done soon"the doctor reassured
Perun was close by holding eria hand as she seemed nervous. But he gave her a small peek on the cheek as her face became bright red. This seemed to make her forget about the surgery instead now felt flusterred
"Just relax who knows maybe you can finally show me why he calls you snow dancer"perun playfully teased
Neptune chuckled"yeah i never figure out why, probably because she dances around when she fights"he joked
The frozen girl still blushing narrowed her gaze at him"i swear when i get my leg i'm going to kick you where it hurt vasilla"she threatened as the other laughed a little.
Soon enough eria was getting wheeled into the surgery room again after the last few weeks. They had maybe twnety minute of preparations for her surgery as the doctors were ready. Jaki already had all the amterial made to install the plate. Eria layed on an operating table scared because both her arms, one good leg and wrist were bounded
"Why…am i strapped down?"eria asked scared
"Sometimes the anestehtisa wears off dear and you don'y hurt yourslef or anyone else in the process of when you awake. But that shouldn't be a problem with the asethetics we have"a nurse said tighting the strap on eria wrist.
"Okay are you ready dear?"she asked
"I…am ready let get this over with"eria said as the doctor brought out a small machine that had a hose connected to to a breathing mask more likly what used to put paitnet under for a while.
They started to follow the procedure as the nurse with the doctor got to work. They seemed to be incharge of handing the material and tools needed for them. They all had rubber glvoes and mask for porection. Soon a nurse started the machine as it let out a small hum and he placed the mask carefully over eira nose and mouth.
"Okay start counting to ten and countdown alright"the nurse asked as eria nodded doing it.
"Ten…nine..eight…seven…six"she started but her vision started to get blurry as the ansetehtsia was starting to take effect.
"Five…four..three"eria tried to finished but her eys closed as her world fadded into blackness.
Back at the hayley residence calida was pacing round like crazy in the living room. The hot headed dance instructor was worried about her daughter. Because if something happened to her she just had her other duagther run away yesterday. While willow and thetis were trying to calm her down. Along with tempstas keeping an eye on wren and melody who were playing near the mantle. Whitley and weiss were upstairs as they were dicussing something.
"Relax i'm sure everything is fine"willow reassured but she wasn't convicned
"Oh because in the past month i've been stressed beyond relief"calida retorted
Thetis sighed"look calida I know their been alot of troubling event that have happen lately"thetis begun as she thought of somethign to try and calm her friend down. Nothing was coming to mind as calida is stressed about the last couple months.
"Look stressing out won't help anyone, just take deep breaths and relax"willow advised as calida tried to keep herself calm. The hayley women did as instructed as she exhaled and inhaled a few times to relax herself.
After abit of time calida walked over to a chair sitting down rubbing her head.
"I know the past events have been very troubling lately. But if you let your emotions control you it won't do you any good"thetis said wisly.
"Shes right, but right now i'm also sure your happy to hear eria finally decided to ge that leg of hers"tempstas added
The hayley mother was a little happy to hear that but wondered where her other daughter was. She wished she didn't have to run away, along with saying how she wants payback for her fallen friends. It worries her she might commit murder.
"Besides that, surprising your husband isn't here to see your daughter"calida said directed toward willow who was drinking a cup of tea. She set the cup down as steam wafted from the cup suggesting it was still warm.
Willow collapsed her hands together"my husband is…busy right now with a meeting with the council right now"she replied
Thetis hummed at this"let me guess the recent dust embargo today"she said knowingly as willow nodded
"Before we got here, i was surprised that happened actually. Though it might not affect the clinic we've established in atlas"willow said to some of their surprise.
"Wait you run clinic in atlas?"tempstas asked surprised by this.
Calida cupped her chin"i thought your family only dealt with dust not medicine"calida asked
Willow nodded"we do, but when i was younger i found an interest in medicine. I wasn't the best business women, but my father approved of it. He still taught me the ways of the family business."willow replied but looked a little sadden by this.
"Hmm though lately i've heard your husband been trying to buy out jakis business actually"thetis asked
Calida kept her composer but didn't wanna start anything right now. They been through alot latly and rather not ruin the moment today.
"Yes, because he wouldn't want his weapons or prosethetic business i'm sure"calida said knowingly it seems
"Your not wrong, it might be those dust mines he owns. But enough about that…has weiss been oaky?"willow aske concerned for her daughter right now.
The three argus mothers looked at each other for a moment before answering that question. The young heiress has been sadden lately about eria loss of limb. Blaming herself for what happened as they kept reassuring everything wans't her fault.
Calida took a deep breath"shes been fine, a little down in the dumps about the events from the fall"she answered
"Especially with what happened to eria"thetis added as willow looked concerned about that.
"Are you implying shes blaming herself for your daughter loss of limp?"willow asked knwoingly to their surprise as calida nodded yes. The schnee mother closed her eyes as she fixed her posture a little.
"Its understandable, but i'm sure she'll overcome it at some point. But…thank you for not hiding it from me. Besides that how is argus this time of year"willow replied as the four mothers cotninued to discuss about some of the recent news that surfaced. While the young children of the group just sat their playing enjoying themselves.
Dream Sqeuence
Eria was now standing on the ice lake again as her younger self looked at her. But this time a few more faces were here alongside her. The first being pyrrha, the second tanner, the third zane, another rosemary. She stared them down as she stood with both her legs as she looked at the younger her who smiled.
Then suddently she spoke to her.
"Are you really gonna do it?"she asked getting her attention
"Getting a new leg to continue what you like to do"she said skating around continuing"not wallowing in self pity and blaming yourself for their death. That you relize they did it to protect those you cared about, including you. That you weren't slow when you lsot your leg"she rpelied
Rosemary giggled"yes be scared because thats all you ever will be now. All your freinds you lost died because you were too slow to save pyrrha"she begun gesturing toward pyrrha
Eria smiled a little"i know their might have been time to save pyrrha. But i can accept it that i wasn't quick enough. I just hope shes happy wherever she is"eria said as the dream pyrrha disppeared into a snowny mist
"Oh then what about that one, he died saving your pathetic twin sister who ran away from home. You couldn't stop her"rosmeary said gesturing toward the dream tanner who had a cheeky grin.
"I know he was an idiot at times, but i'm happy he protected my sister and saved her. He may be gone but…he's probably hoping perun keeping an eye on their team and bandmates for him. For my sister i'll just have to hope she comes home and relizes her mistake"eria said as the dream tanner turned into a snwny mist.
Rosemary growled as she moved her scissors around then eria felt her right side become lighter. She looked down seeing her missing leg but she was still standing on the one.
"Really…your own leader died looking for you. Your partner probably dead right now, your sister gone. And your a cripple right now, your a pathetic and scared little girl. What can you do as a leader with no leg. You were too weak to save pyrrha, too weak to prevent your leg getting cut off, and you caused your leader to die looking for you"rosemary said smiling at eria with her scared face.
Eria took a deep breath as she looekd at rosemary eye to eyte
"I know that dumb clown probably died saving me. We got in fight at time but…he saved a few of our friends in the fall while looking for me. I will find my sister and partner…and take up the mantle as leader"eria said in confidence
"I may have lost my leg to you but i'm on a new path. That path may be filed with sturggles of becomign a leader of my team. But their are people who are their for me, and help me because they don't view me as a cripple. They do it because they care"eria said walking toward rosemary as an ice leg replaced her missing leg. The younger her cirlced around rosemary fast in a circle.
"Really how you gonna do that what if your already too late?"rosemary asked
She smiled at the girl who took her leg walking past her
"Simple if i can't find my twin sister i'll go look for her. Along with making sure my partner is okay, and get back to full strength. And make my leader happy i'm watching over them in his steed. It'll be a while but…i can wait"eri said as rosmeary glared at her
Soon enough the younger her cut the ice open as rosmeary fell into it as water splashed up. Then eria smiled to her youngerself nodding as she returned it. Eria turned to see a bright light appear in the hole rosmeary fell into. She started walking foward into it as she jumped into the shining bright light
Dream sequence ends
Eria opened her eyes from her dream as her vision was slgihtly blurry but she adjusted rather quickly as she stared up at a ceiling face as she figure she was still in the hopsital. She sat up but just barely as she removed her sheet covering her. Her right leg was bandaged since she wore a gown as she looked at it. Which meant the surgery was a sccess installing the metal plate.
But their was still a feeling of drowsyess from the ansethsai she was under as everything was still dizzy. But she looked noticing perun laying his head next to her. His head was close by as she palced a hand on his head smiling.
However long she was out he waited for her to wake up. Soon though the door opened to reveal neptune, her father and his bandamtes. Along with a doctor but her fahter had a long case in his hands.
"Your awake and your lucky that surgery was a major success"the doctor replied aporaching her bed.
"We had successfully managed not to damage any of the nerves near what remained of your thigh. Their wasn't any issue with the installation but, before you decide to try and walk. Try to take it easy, but without further ado it was a succes"The doctor replied
"Umm how long was I out?"eria said drowsy as she rubbed her head.
"About four hours, its not that surprising. But we can get you discharge in about an hour."the doctor replied. Though eria looked at her father who had a box in his hands.
"Okay you wanna show me your fine craftsmanship"Eria said coldy with her father smiling. But before he answered a certain lighting rocker finally woke up with a half snore. He stood up as he stretched a little as an audible pop could be heard.
"Man how long was i out?"perund questione rubbing his eyes.
"That you were about to miss your girlfriend getting her leg installed"orchie said as perun went wid eyed
Then he turned to eria who smiled a little at him before he stood up walking over hugging her. She returned the embrace as he seemed happy she went through it.
"Your awake…thought you be a mini coma again"he said letting go.
"That wouldn't have been fun, but…"Eria said looking toward her father
Jaki noticed this as he walked over to the right side of her bed. Then he placed the long teal colored case on the bed next to eria missing right leg. Their was some white lining it as she didn't get the best look at it last time. Though on the the case it had her initials on it which made her smile.
"I'm guessing this is an early birthday present"she said because it was nice he put that on their for her.
"It is, but i put it on their because it be nice to have something to store your new leg. Thought it be nice for you to have something to store it in. But i have something else that goes with them"he added to eria intrigue what he meant by that.
"Really what don't tell me you added a cannon to it"slater added
"No more like a freeze ray"orchie tried to correct
"Nope probably pair of blades or something"neptune knowingly added
Perun chuckled"Who knows, he probably strapped a nuke to it or something"he said
Jaki snapped his finger"hmm i could have done that, another project in the future perhaps"he calmly said as the group quickly backed up a little from him. Because they were worried he put a nuke in her new leg now.
"Though sweetie…are you ready to actually put it on?"jaki asked
His daughter sat their for a second before gently nodding to him. Jaki nodded as he then opened the latches on the case. Then he lifted it up and inside the case was the prosthetic leg she saw so long ago.
Their inside the case was a prosethetic leg that seemed to go half wayup up the the thigh. Along with that it seemed to be teal colored mixed with white colors in for the metal. Along with that most metal used are silver grey in tone it seems. Along with that their were light blue lines arouned the joints for the prosthetic leg. The bottom of the foot was light blue in color and around the toenails .Just like it was all that time ago still shining brightly.
But she looked a the letters on it caressing it smiling a little.
"Did you really have to put my nickname you gave me as a kid on their?"she asked a jaki chuckled
"You used to love dancing when you were little. I wanted something to remind you of the good times"jaki replied
"Yeah but still…its still pretty mazing in my opinion"orchie said
"Seriously man its like he makes art sometimes"slater added
"Uh if you count him also making weapons of mass desturction as art i guess that works'perun joked
"Yes, well i tend to put care into my work on prosthetics. But are you ready dear?"he asked. Eria looked at with some gestation it seems but it needed to happen now even with whats happened. She needed to be at full strength just incase they can't find rogue, along with finding her partner. She'll become the leader of their team and make sure their safe.
Eria took a deep breath and let it out slowly to try and relax as she let a small mist come from her mouth.
"Okay…lets put it on then"eira said
"Alright be prepared and just relax okay. The shock from your nerves reconnecting will hurt"he warned hsi daughter ahead of time. Though she heard him explain so many times to here over the years about previous procedures it was drilled into her head.
Eria sat their as jaki moved her gown a little to where her missing leg was. Their the plate was just installed just sitting their, next jaki carefully grabbed the prosehtiec then placed it on eria theigh with a clicking sound being heard.
"Let me guess next is the nerves connecting"she asked as he nodded
"You may wanna brace yourself"jaki warned as the doctor walked over with a mouthguard. She handed it to eria as she shoved it into her mouth. She then bit down hard onto it.
Perun sat close by offering a hand but eria wagged her finger at her to their confusion.
"What you gonna tough it out or something?"orchie asked
"Yeah eria its fine i can handle you freezing my hand"perun added
Eria then looked over at someone in the room pointing a finger at them. They all looked to see her pointing at neptune who looked nervous right now.
"Is this for how we ended things off, i thought we fixed it?"he asked concerned
Eria removed the motuhguard real quick as it was covered in spit"oh we did but i rather not have perun have frostbite. I'm still a little mad at you waterboy"eria said as neptune wanted to argue. But sighed in defeat as he walked over. He sat down taking the girl hand as she shoved the mouth guard back in.
Then she prepared herself for what was next. Then jaki placed a socket wrench into a hole on the back of her leg.
"Ok…three….two…"he counted down but the third number didn't come as he pulled the wrench connecting her nerve immediately. To eria she felt an immense pain as she bite down hard on the mouth guard as it covered in ice a little. Then she squeezed neptune hand tight as the guy flinced in pain along with shivering. She was threatening to break his wrist along with giving him frostbite as his hand was slightly frozen.
"Aghh…cold..cold…cold"neptune said several times as he shivered while some of them laughed at it.
But as the pain came it went away with eria feeling relieved but it was still grueling for the three seconds as she tried to calm her breath. She then spat the mouth guard out to breath better, then let neptune hand go. He immediately tried warming his hand up running out the hall toward somewhere warm.
Eria calmed herself down as she looked at her right leg and noticed the prosthetic was fully on but she needed to know if it can receive signal from her brain.
So to test it out she attempted to curl her toes. To her shock it curled inward on command. She did this a few times then moved her foot from side to side as it responded on command. Then she wanted to try something else as she threw her sheets off. She pulled herself near the edge as she placed both her feet on the ground.
Slater watched it amazement a little because it was nice seeing her walk again. While orchie smiled a little looking at perun. The lighting rocker had tears of joy on his face seeing his girlfriend walking again. While jaki had a smile of content along with a proud look. Soon neptune came back and went wide eyed seeing her trying to walk as he had a heating pack on his hand.
Eria steadied herself as she stood up on both her feet smiling like no tomorrow. Its been so long as she tried to take a step but it felt a like foreign to her. But she took a couple more with both legs.
"So…what do you think?"jaki asked
Eria looked at her father and to him she embraced him tight with tears of hoy coming from her eyes.
"Thank you. Thank you so much. I should have done this sooner"she muttered loud enough for them all to hear. He returned it smiling his little girl was walking again.
"Its fine sweetie, i'm just happy you took your time before making a big decision"jaki said accepting the thanks. Then he separated from the embrace as eria wobbled a little falling forward. But perun caught her as she sighed looking down.
"Forgot i haven't walked for two weeks almost"she groaned
Perun chuckled"don't worry you'll be fine snow angel"perun said as he helped her to sit on the bed. Once he did jaki then pulled another small box out to their surprise. Eria looked at him confused as he smield.
"Heres your other surprise"he said as he placed the box infront of her.
Eria looked at it as she took the boy looking at it. It was light blue with no ribbon or wrapping paper on it. Just a plain old box, though she took the lid off to see its contents. Inside the box was a pair of teal colored character shoes in them.
"Umm shoes?"neptune asked
"Yeah what she needed new kicks to go with her leg"orchie added
"Lets just say that you'll have an easier time skating around from now on. Along with that i wanted to add upgrades to your leg. But…your perfect the way you are without them"jaki mentioned which confused eria for a moment but wondered what he tried to do.
"Let me guess rocket launcher, shotgun, machine gun"she asked for several different ideas he wanted to use guessing her mother said no.
Jaki chuckled"no actually thats what she shoes are the upgrade woudln't have work with just one foot"he said as eria looked at him puzzled.
As she examined the shoes for a bit, she noticed a button inward where the heels where of the shoe. She picked them up clicking them together, then from the bottom of the shoes they moved. A mechanical noise could be heard as from the bottom of the shoes a pair of ice skate blades emerged.
"Ice skate?"slater questioned
"Yeah why would she need those exactly?"orchie added
"Umm because she skates around on ice when she fights. Maybe i can see the little snow dancer in action"perun teased as eria blushed slightly.
"Oh shut up lighting boy"she retorted
Neptune rubbed his head wincing because it felt numb"well at least you do all the exciting things involving both your legs. Oh man when your sister see that she gonna wanna mod the heck out of it"he stated as eria looked down at that. He relized what he did as he sighed heavily.
"Sorry..too soon my–"he begun but she stopped him.
"Don't, i'm sure she'll be back soon enough. If they stop them when they reach the end of that train ride. She'll be back…but i'm going to kick her and those other two so hard. "Eria stated
They laughed a little at that declaration because eria hoped her sister would return home soon. She really didn't wanna use this leg but, she needed to be prepared for anything right now. If she keeps walloring in self pity it'll get her nowhere in life. Though she wondered what new experience this will bring.
This was a fun chapter giving eria the ability to walk again with a new reason to live. Along with the introduction of willow, whitley and wren schnee the family members of weiss. Wren is an orginal creation of my own, I thought whitley would suit the older brother role since hes not covered much in the show. Thanks for reading!
