Chapter 9 teal: Schnee Summoning

A bright new day was on the city of atlas today. The sun shined bright onto the flaoting city while the underbelly city below it barely got any light. Though right now in the schnee manor a certain ice queen was stirring awake. Weiss slowly opened her eyes to be met by sunlight from her windows. She groaned turing away not really wanting to ge tup today.

Though in the room with her someone had a different idea"why snowflake are you just going to sleep in all day"klein said as he walked over throwing the curtains to let more light pour in.

Weiss covered her head with her pillow to avoid it"if its means i don't have to deal with…father then yes"she replied gorggily

Klein sighed"i know him saying those words about your compratios hurt. But i wanted to let you know breakfast is ready. "Klein said as he walked over throwing weiss sheets off.

The heiress groaned deciding to get up for the day as she yawned, her hair was down as she wore her usually pajamas.

"Okay…what for today breakfast?"She asked nicly as she hoped out of bed grabbing some clothes to get ready to take a shower.

"Today we'll be having scrambled eggs, sausage links, pancakes, juice and tea for some of you"he said to wiess surprise they'd have something like that.

"Isn't that what the word…what the poor eat in father words"weiss replied as klein snickered at that.

"It is but your mother wanted you to have something simple after last night. Now chop chop and hurry before wren takes all the soft wheat cakes"klein said clapping his hands to weiss laughing a little.

"Okay i'll be down soon, see you then klein"She replied as he left her room. The heiress then walked into her bathroom connected to her room. Then she quickly walked into a lavish bathroom with white marble counter tops and a large shower. The heiress removed her clothes as she turned the shower on.

She waited for a bit until she tested the water and it felt a little cold to her. But she was used to the cold as she stepped into the shower. The water made her shiver when it hit her back but she began the process of freashing up for the morning. She used some soap to wash off whatever grim and dirt she got from last night. It was smart to still freshen up before that father of hers get mad at her for something.

Then she began to get every part of her bodie to make sure it was all cleaned up. After that she rinsed off the soap on her bodie, then began to wash her hair. Despite her long hair she used some nearby shampoo as she seeqzed the content into her hand. It felt cold then she began to scrub her hair down to get it all soapy. After a bit of time she did and then began to wash her hair for ten minutes. Soon after that she finished and then patted herself down dry.

After about twenty minutes weiss left her room in her usual attire she wears now. She walked down the halls for a bit to head to breakfast. As she did she relized despite living in a big home, it can get quite lonely at times.

She sighed for a few times as she walked"i wonder if ruby and the others are alright. The list they released said they were still alive. But she didn't know where blake was at all which worried her."she thought to herself.

Then as she walked she passed by a large portrait in the hall of their family. The heiress groaned at this because one of them shouldn't even be in it that being her father.

"What i wouldn't give to tear him out of that portrait"weiss said aloud to herself thinking she was alone.

"If you do that your dad will be pretty mad ice queen"a female voice said next to her.

Weiss looked going wide eyed to see a girl who was slightly taller than her. She had fair skin with a pair of light blue eyes. Along with that she seemed to be eighteen as she had amber hair in a single twist braid. She also wore a military unfirom it seems that most guards wear on the schnee manor grounds. But on her back was a horse tail for her faunus traits.

"Carmen"weiss greeted the schnee guard as she hugged her who returned it.

"Its great to hear your okay, when i saw the news i was worried. Your siblings and mom especially"the horse faunus known as carmen said as the two began to walk downstairs.

"You can say that again, it was very troubling what happened in beacon and vale"weiss replied sadly as they continued to walk.

They reached the main hall stairs as they continued to talk"its understandable, still can't believe those bots got hacked along with the CCT tower being destroyed. Their also people who are part grimm"carmen replied baffled by that.

"Your not wrong, i'm sure everyone is scared. Is that why james pulled everyone back and issueed a dust embargo"weiss asked as carmen nodded

"After what happened most dust trade was put to a halt it seems. Along with atlas closing its borders now, probably worried about those knights"she replied

The two continued as they got to the last steps making their way to the dinning hall for breakfast.

"Though my father may be mad about that i'm guessing"weiss replied as carmen gulpd nerovusly it seems.

Carmen tugged at her shirt collar"he is though…just relax i'm sure nothing bad will happen"she reassured which made weiss feel a little better.

Soon enough the two emerged into the dinning hall to see some people still here. Her mother was sitting down with her brother as the two were in mid discussion about something.

"If you want to pursue a career in medicine i won't stop you, though you'll need proper training"willow replied as she drank her tea then sat the cup down.

Whitley was finishing his breakfast as he replied"i know you won't just…wonder if i have to run it by father before i declare my career"he sadly replied

Willow sighed clasping her hands together"don't worry about him, i'm not going to let him control your career choice. If you don't want to run the company maybe wren will…or he'll become a huntsman"willow replied as whitley smiled a little.

The two then noticed weiss and carmen walk in as weiss took a seat close to her mother. While carmen sat with her arms behind her back. Though whitley looked at her before quickly looking away which didn't go unnotice by weiss who smiled.

Appernelty everysince carmen started working here she managed to peak her brother interest. It would be funny to see her father react to him dating a faunus. Though she wondered if falk was around he did say he was from atlas.

"Morning weiss how'd you sleep?"whitley asked as he finished with his breakfast as he began to take it back.

"Alright, it's a little nice to be back home"weiss replied sadly as she ate the breakfast infront of her. Which consisted of eggs, sausage links and some orange juice.

Willow noticed this with a worried look"dear, don't let your fathers word get to you"willow said knowingly

Weiss was a little caught off guard but ignored it"i don't know what your talking about. I'm perfectly fine with…"weiss tried to retort but willow knew it hurt her daughter what he said last night.

Whitley quickly returned as he deposited his plate into the kitchen then took a seat.

"Mom is right, what father said was pretty rude."whitley replied luckily jacuqe wasn't here right now to listen to him.

Willow nodded as she walked over to her daughter then placed a hand on her shoulder. Weiss jumped a little but relized it was her mother then calmed down.

"I'm sure your team were wonderful people along with all those friends you made. "She said with a smile which reassured weiss slightly.

"Along with that winter told us something when she got to atlas actually"whitley replied to weiss confusion what winter said to them.

Did she tell them something else while she stayed at thetis home in argus. Though that begged the question where was her older sister at. If she was in atlas then she must be at the military base here.

"Oh speaking of winter where is she?"weiss questioned

Klein walked over as weiss finished her breakfast already and he took it. She wanted to take it back herself but he told her it was fine.

"Winter did return home for a quick visit, though her and jacque did get in a small altercation. Luckily nothing happened, but she told us some good news"klein stated to weiss confusion even more.

She noticed her mother with a cat like grin on her face as she slowly pieced it together. Then it hit her because of a certain pilot she was interested in.

"Oh no…she told you about him"weiss said knowingly as her face slightly blushed as she layed her head down.

The four laughed a little at her as willow sighed smiling"your sister did tell us someone did peak my daughter interest finally. I'm happy actually its not one of your fathers stupid suitors."willow said as she patted her daughter on the back gently.

"Ah yes what was his name falk?"whitley asked

"That is his name…why do you ask?"weis replied curiously but still felt embarrassed

Carmen chuckled"nothing just that winter mentioned you'd fancy him is all."she replied

"Though if your wondering where she is she stationed in a small outpost in mistral right now. James sent her their to keep an eye out for any more grimm knights or crime happening their. But with the branwhen tribe their its been safe their"willow replied

"Oh when did that happen?"weiss aksed wondering when she left she was hoping she was still in atlas.

"About a week ago, though why don't you finish breakfast up and we can have a small outting later"willow replied as weiss agreed with that as she continued to eat her breakfast.

Though right now across in the atlas command center the home and operations center for all of atlas military. In a small recreation room of the facility was a speicifc atlas soldier. That soilder would be lieteuntant hariet bree part of ACE OPS. Though right now she was in her usually atlas military attire along with her was marrow Amin.

The two were enjoying themselves before they would get called by ironwood for a mission. Though hariet just sighed again to herself as she rubbed her temple. Marrow noticed this because it was the thirteenth time she sighed in the last half hour.

"Alright Hare ears whats eating you up?"he asked

Hariet bounced up a little"oh its nothing okay. Just…feeling a little down is all"hariet replied

"You wanna talk about it, just us here anyway"he replied gesturing to the surprisingly empty recreation room.

"No. i'm fine just….relax in silence maybe"hariet replied rubbing her hands together.

Marrow wasn't buying it because she been weird ever since the fall and her returning with winter. He looked around making sure no one was listening then he walked over taking a spot close to her.

"You feel guilty about not being able to save the kid"marrow said knowingly as hairet went wide eyed then sighed nodding

"it s just i used to hate the little brat everysince that day we raided the lab. The first time we met he tried to bite my head off…then he bite my hand several times. Their was also how he kept calling me that name."hariet replied as she leaned back in her spot.

Marrow smiled"so what was your nickname…girl scout. That the one he gave you?"he asked as hairet chuckled at that recalling when he was a kid he gave them all nicknames.

Hariet sighed smiling as she placed a hand on her cheek"it was, at first i hated it now i kinda like it. Yours was what…wags?"she asked as if on cue his tail wagged as he stopped it grabbing it.

The two laughed a little though hariet decided to continue their discussion" although when i went to menagerie on that mission to keep an eye on him. I thought it be just me doing babysitter duty again. But instead he actually found his family he been searching the past six years for."hariet begun with a soft expression as marrow listen.

"It was nice actually seeing the kid reunit with his family, i understand the general considered him dangerous. But kinda wish we saved him then his mom wouldn't be grieving for his lost again. Seriously i'm just…mad that we weren't quick enough"she finished hanging her head.

The wolf faunus patted her on the shoulder"look i understand you miss the kid, i do too at times. Hell me and clover taught him how to make great puns. "He replied smiling.

"I do…though carmine probably upset about it too still. She kinda cared for him like a son over the years"hariet said

Marrow nodded"why don't we check up on in a few days, see how seen been."marrow suggested as hariet thought for a second. It sounded like a great idea because in three days they'd be getting a break. Though as the two got up the intercom came to life.

"Marrow amin and hairet bree please report to platform 7-A"the voice on the intercom said as the two were surprised by this but went over to where they neded to be. Though they wondered why they needed to head to that platform specifically.

Though early the general of the atlas army returned to Atlas Academy as it was currently housing students as they walked past him barely giving a greeting except for a few of them. It was natural that the students continued onward about their business. He then entered his office giving him a view of all of atlas as he looked upon the building.

Then he sat behind his desk and as he did he got a call from one person he dreaded talking to right now.

A holo image of jacque schnee appeared on the screen as he gave a look to the general

"Ah general ironwood. I was hoping to catch you right now"jacque greeted

"What is it jacque i'm very busy right now as you can see. With the recent blockade on dust trade and the closing off our boarders. I need to manage the resource to proper areas of the kingdom"he replied

"I understand that james but are you sure its wise to close all trade on dust. Some of the people in atlas need it for their source of income"jacque replied though ironwood knew this was obviously about his company.

"If this is about your company you and your ex-wife can handle on how to generate more income. I'm sorry but we need to keep dust out of the hands of other kingdoms. With those knight around they'll wanna start a war to deal with them."ironwood said firmly to the company man.

Jacque scoffed"i'm sorry but this is for the people of atlas, people will lost their jobs and their homes due to this embargo. "He replied as ironwood wasn't buying it.

"Look right now we are very trying times right now. Besides that if your wondering about the infamous theif swan. Shes been quiet everysince the fall"he replied diverting the topic jacque will wanna talk about.

"Are you kidding me?! That crook has stolen several shipments of my dust including that bastard roman torchwich"jacque said in anger

"I understand your trouble about that thief going around. But right now these grimm knight are mo–"he begun but jacque stopped him.

"Grimm hybrids you didn't tell anyone about until now, how long has your military even known about them?"he questioned curiously

Ironwood sighed rubbing his eyes"we've only heard rumors that it, i have scientist working on researching ways to deal with them. But for now…"ironwood began as his scroll rung.

"I need to take this goodbye jacque"irownood said as he hung up as the holo vision disappeared.

Then he picked it up as a female soldier officer spoke.

"Sir we have a sitatuion and we you at the airstation"the female officer stated

"Whats the problem?"ironwood asked

"A mistral police ship is approaching atlas and is asking permission to land. What should we do sir?"the female office rasked

"Don't do anything till i get their. I'm on my way."he said before hanging up.

Ironwood then walked out of his office and began making haste back to the airstation wondering what problem he was facing now.

About twenty minutes he was at the airstation as he located the female officer that reported to him as he stepped into a command station.

"Status is the ship now?"ironwood ordered

"For now the ship is approximately ten miles from the Atlas Border"the female officer said

"Does it have weapons on boad?"ironwood asked

"No sir. It a small patrol ship. It doens't carry any weapons"one of the navigators replied

"Radio contact?"he asked again

"Yes sir. We've estbalished radio contact with the pilot. They've asked to speak with you before they idneitfiy themselves"the female officer said

That was when the general walked toward one of the navigators and pressed a button to speak with the pilot.

"This is general james ironwood of the atlas yourselfs immediately"the general ordered

Not a moment later the radio responded back"this is detective henry knight. Mistral police department. We have an ongoing inveisgation that has led us to your city. Permission to land?"knight voice siad through the radio

"Detectives? What would they be here…maybe"he thought then relized who he was talking about.

"Do we have permission to land sir?"the detective asked again

Ironwood had no other choice because if he was right their here for swan. He recalls this detectives tracking her down for years. Which might make one businessman happy.

"You have permission to land on platform 7-A"he replied

"Platofrm 7-A .copy that" knight said before the radio wen dead.

Then the general started to make his way to siad platform to see why they were here. But before he did he ordered his officers to contact hairet and marrow. The general wanted a few of his ace ops to be involved in this.

But right now near a cliffside edge of the floating city obscured and luckily not a decnelty patrol area of the floating city. Their was a hanger their which was pretty large in size, though it was a temporary hideout for a certain thief.

Inside the hanger it was a simple storage area for ship to dock and make repairs. Though right now lazuli was going around trying to come up with any possible jobs. The only ones she could think of are thievery but she could disrupt a few faunus slave markets. Her brother told her how a few operate in the city at times.

Falk cracked his back as he stepped out from the ship"so whats our plan to gather info on our mysterious clients?"he asked

"Don't know but from that stuff i took from that atlas camp a scientist lives heres that was one of the main researchers."she begun as she wore her casual attire she wear while falk wore his traditional outfit as well. The two soon left the hanger as they locked it up then began to make their way to a specific destination as they talked.

"Thats it? What about tarrus you know where he might be?"falk aksed as lazuli grunted at that name.

"Oh the terrorist leader…apperenlty word is he went missing after the fall. The guy must have went into hiding from the law"she replied annoyed because that bastard was the one who offered them the gig alongside bonnie soon after.

Falk had his hands behind his head"bummer though i'm guessing were heading to our good old informant in the lower part of mantle?"he knwoignly asked as she nodded

"Yep good old happy huntresses, once their i'll ask robyn if she knows where any gigs in town or any info on them"lazuli replied

"Awesome though uh i'm heading to the upper part of atlas because you know"he replied as she understood what he meant immediately.

"Go check on your mom, tell her i said hi. I'll be in the lower part of mantle then we meet up later"lazuli replied as the two split off for their repsecitve missions. But they wondered what type of gigs will this robyn give them.

Though right now in the shcnee manor more excluivsly the hallway close to jacque office was willow. The women was coming to grab wren as they were going out for a bit in town later. She thought it'd be nice to go out before their father starts something.

"I swear sometimes i wish i never married that man. The only reason i fell for him was that charm of his"willow thought to herself.

Everysince she married this man he's been nothing bu trouble everyday. Her father own business is going down right now. Their also her finding out about the faunus slaver markets he's running. Though appernelty he says he dismantled them which she calls bullshit.

As the women kept walking through the hall she passed by her husband study. But overheard him speaking to someone, since the door was slightly cracked open.

"Dammit that idiot ironwood is ruining my profits with this stupid dust embargo he's placed"jacque voice could be heard as willow was intrigued what him and james discussed

Though inside the room right now was jacque talking a very familiar man known as hassan adkins. The leader of the crimson talon as one of his captains was their as hassan talked through a holo device.

The captain wore the traditional crimson talon colors that being a black pair of combat pants and boots. Along with a black atheltic shirt with a grey colored vest. The crimson talon mark embezzled onto the right shoulder. Though he wore combat helmet colored black with a gas mask attached to it off. But he had pale skin with a set of medium yellow eyes and he had brown hair. Though he had quite an athletic build to him.

"Hmph told you that would happen though Reo here has a suggestion for how to make your business more money"hassan replied which made jacuqe immediately interested

"Oh and what would that be?"he asked leaning in his spot

Reo stepped forward"sir if i may you could try a new business strategy. More exclusive what your so called rival is doing jaki hayley"he started as willow listened outside the doorway quietly not making a peep.

Jacque scoffed"that man what of it because all i want from him are those dam dust mines he owns. If he merges with me then i could get those rare dust mines he owns. Maybe even start making weapons"he replied as willow went wide eyed at her father company making weapons.

She understand that they need them to protect their kingdom from also the chance of them falling into the hands of thugs, crook and murders. But who exactly is he talking too and did he say captain. She continued to listen to their conversation intently

"Also don't you have a bone to pick with his daughters?"jacque replied kwnoingly as the man covered his scared eye growling.

"So what? that team they were on screwed with one of my jobs. Lost a valuable asset, no matter got one of those loose end's handles"hassan replied as willow wondered what the hayley family had to do with this man.

"Beside that why should i give them more freedom?"jacque asked again

Reo nodded"if you give them more freedom this is bold to say. But give them more freedom from those mines""he replied

"Why would i do that? So they can escape?"he replied

He shook his head wagging his figner"no sir. Those mines can be very tiresome we know since we use the same methods. But we allow them schedule shifts on work days each week. Though some of them are involved in certain test we conduct. You have land where homes that are abandoned that runs on it own electrical power so i would turn into a workers home. Have them pay a certain few each month then put the moeny to fund your company for a long time. It would be helpful in the long haul"he suggested

"Their also the hospital that wife of yours run it will bring in business maybe construct a couple more. It can make your image greater"he added which did get his and willow attention as she continued listening

"Hm very well..this is an interesting idea that we can use. But what do you want in return for this .?"he asked as hassan laughed on the holo image.

"All i ask is that maybe some of your workers mysteriously disappear. Apperenlty some slavers took them and they were never seen again. My boss needs new test subjects for his experiments"hassan said as jaqcue thought for a moment and he could do without a few of those beast.

The man leaned in his chair smiling"that a splendid idea how about this in three days top. Your man here comes to a certain part of mantle. Then i'll have a man i know trade some of those workers for a hefty price"he replied as reo nodded and the man shook his hand as the deal was sealed.

Outside willow was in anger right now on what she was hearing right now. That he wants to expand the hospital she runs on the side. But that he still praticing his faunus market. Though whoever this mysterious man is might be a slaver trader and did he say test subjects? Soon the women queitly left to grab her kids for a little trip into atlas. Though before she did she opened her scroll as she made a certain job request to disrupt some slave trade.

In the grand entrance of the manor was weiss waiting with her brother whitley. Along with carmen as the horse faunus sometimes is their personal bodyguards. Though whitley seemed very nervous around the girl right now which was very obvious.

"So where do you think were going?"he asked

"Don't know my guess probable the mall, a cafe, restaurant you name it. "Carmen replied as her tail flicked a little.

Weiss hummed at that"she right, though i wonder what taking mother so long. She went to grab wren twnety minutes ago"weiss replied

"Your right, though you know master wren he might be into one of those puzzles of his"klein replied as wiess totally forgot how even despite his age their little brother is a problem solving genius. At around six she recalled him solving a very complicated puzzle with ease for someone his age. Though he's probably not ready yet which made sense.

"He could be though…you good whitley?"Carmen asked the schnee who turned away slightly.

"Oh i'm quite alright just curious how i'm going to explain to father my future career path"he replied because he was slightly blushing. He was oggling her a little because he did fancy the faunus afterall.

Weiss grinned"that nice though sometimes i wonder if i should still be a huntress after everything"wiess sadly stated to the three shock.

"But you said how you wanted to be like grandfather when we were little"whitley replied

"Hey he's right, heck before i moved up from those mines…you talked about wanting to be one"carmen replied as she rubbed her right hip where her SDC mark was.

Klein nodded"snowflake why are your reconsidering it?"he asked as weiss rubbed her forearm for a bit before answering.

"It's just i feel like such a failure…i couldn't save my friends leg when she lost it. Now their also doubt that if i'm strong enough to be one"weiss said though as she spoke a set of footsteps could be heard coming down.

The four looked to see willow holding wren but Reo was walking down next to her. Though weiss looked at his attire and noticed something, the crimson talon emblem. They were the people piper said where the scary red claws. Which meant her father might be working with them.

"Willow its finally time you arrived…though who is he?"klein asked as reo had his gas mask on over his face.

"Yes, he looks like military not atlas though"carmen added as Reo glared at her she could feel it even despite his mask.

He took a deep breath"mind your business beast, i had business to attend with . "He begun looking toward willow.

"You should keep that thing muzzled or…well accidents may happen"reo added as he walked out of the manor. Whitley glared at him as carmen was actually shaken up from that small interaction with him.

"Okay…that guy is very scary seriously is he some new staff or something?"carmen asked

Though willow held wren in her arms as he was excited for today"i don't know but…weiss is something wrong?"willow asked as her daughter was like a deer in the headlights right now. She recalled eria telling her who ran the crimson talon which was arthur watts. Which meant something bad could be happening very soon from this.

Soon enough she snapped out of it rubbing her arm"umm nothing its just his attire seemed familiar is all. Where are we going today?"she asked as willow looked worried but decided to let it go for now.

"Were going to be heading to the zoo later, you know that charity event we did. Well they opened a new exhibit their and wren wants to see it"willow said as wren smiled

"I wanna see the striped cat"eren excalimed smiling as they laughed a little at that

"Thats sound pleasant lets go then"weiss replied as the group decided to head off to the zoo for the today little adventure. Though weiss was worried if her father was going to be invovled in these grimm experiments now. But right now she wanted to enjoy some time with her family.

We caught up with harriet and marrow as the women seems to be feeling guilt for not saving someone in time. While the dectives arrive in atlas along with that a thief. But it seems weiss father has new business dealing with watts personal PMC. Reo is my own oc, thanks for readng!
