Chapter 12 teal:Deal em in

Though across town right now was a certain thief who early came to the residents and dwelling of doctor carmine asclus. Right now lazuli was in her usual attire but she had her swan mask at the ready to hide her identity.

"Okay you sure this is where she lives?"lazuli spoke into her scroll.

"Positve though expect a call from that client for the slave deal tonight. Shes hoping you can stop them"robyn said on the other end.

"Got it"lazuli replied about to ahng up but robyn stopped her.

"Why do you wanna find this atlas researcher anyway?"robyn asked as lazuli paused for a moment.

Then she came up with a small lie"look lets just say chick has answers i need to find someone that its. Thanks again bye"lazuli replied before hanging up before robyn asked more questions. The theif sighed because she owed her but soon enough made her way over to the house.

Right now it wasn't that busy right now though she looked toward an alleyway. She casually made her way through it whistling to herself as she saw a small baloncy. Lazuli jumped up as she pulled herself over. Once over she saw a glass door that led to what appears to be a lab.

"Okay jackpot already"lazuli thought to herself as she produced a lockpick. She began to pick the lock for a bit until a click could be heard.

"Easy as pie"lazuli said quietly to herself as she slide the door open.

Once inside she saw a small lab like area with beakers, chemical, flowers in some pots. Though some were under uv ray lamps it seems. But what stuck out to her was a framed picture. She walked over seeing a women in it with a man with a robotic eye in it smiling.

Though she rolled her eyes wondering if this women even felt guilty what she did. Lazuli soon began to tear through the women draws to find anything on these grimm knights or who made them. But as she continued to search she found nothing, no flashdrive left out, disc, scroll left open or files.

"This obviously wasn't going to be easy…maybe she has them"lazuli thought as she stood their. But soon enough she could hear the door being opened as a click told her it was open. Then voice could be heard.

"Come on sweetie relax junior just wondering if you could make more of those suprestants you made for the kid"a female voice could be heard

"Look i know their vital to deal with the knights. But they take time"carmine said as she walked into the room with her head turned around.

"I understand but you still hurt about the kids death?"hairet softly asked

Carmine sighed"of course i am, i felt obligated to help him find his family…he finds them and now he gone again"Carmine answered as the three women turned to face the lab. They were pretty surrpised to see lazuli here as she was about to make her escape.

"Uhh this is the wrong house…bye"lazuli was about to use her semblance but hairet quickly beat her to it using her as she threw lazuli on the ground placing her in the arm bar.

"Hold it right their, what you here to rob the place?"hairet demanded to know

The third women with them stepped forward as lazuli looked at her. She seemed to be thirty nine years old with slight tan skin and long turquoise hair tied in a high ponytail with a red ribbion. She currently wore a pair of cream colored pants with a blue shirt on. Though lazuli noticed the women left hand being a prosthetic colored turqoises with black lining it along with her left leg.

"Hmm maybe though she seems young. Why you here kid?"the women asked kneeling down to lazuli

Lazuli struggled for a bit smiling"what i just needed some quick cash, let me go and i'll be good promise"lazuli said smiling as the women didn't buy it.

She just instead chuckled"good try kid you got two ace ops here. I can tell your lying through your teeth"the women replied as this made lazuli face sink.

That she got caught by two ace ops that may put her in jail. Though the one ontop of her looked familiar to her. But her knee was in her back which didn't feel all that great.

Carmine cupped her chin studying the girl but more importantly eyeing something around her neck. Though she couldn't tell who she was with that mask on her face.

"So let start with question one who are you?"hairet questioned as she slightly squeezed lazuli wirst making her wince.

"Ow…ow! I don't like it rough lady…names opal"lazuli replied as hairet squeezed tighter because the women nodded to her because that was a lie.

"Nice try kid, just give us a straight answer or we'll lock you up. Then…maybe begin integration"the women suggested as carmine frowned at that.

"Marina you are not torturing a child you sound just like watts"carmine said as lazuli growled at that name to their surprise.

"Uh what gives you hate the guy or something?"hariet asked as the women known as marina tortuga studied her more importantly that necklace.

"None of your busines you atlesian bi–"she begun before he scroll rang for a bit. Marina slowly walked over taking it out of lazuli pocket as she looked at the name. It read skyguy as the ace op answered it.

"Feathers where are you? Still following that lead on that doctor that exepiemnted on your cousin"falk voice could be heard as the three women went wide eyed.

Lazuli groaned"god dammit you airhead"she mutered

Carmine went wide eyed motioning for hairet to get off the girl as she did. Though hairet figured out who she was immedialty.

"Your…your his family aren't you"carmine asked sadly as falk was still on the other end interrupting them.

"Feathers hello? You their?"he asked as lazuli sighed looking at marina who nodded tossing her the scroll.

Lazuli held to her ear"hey skyguy nice going on getting me caught. What the hell do you want?"lazuli asked annoyed

"Oh crap…uh well i met our client and she uh told me when that slave deal going down tonight. Appernelty its in some old warehouse outside the outskirts of mantle. Maybe we can stop those talon guy from taking people"falk replied but was still on speaker as carmine went wide eyed in rage.

"That bastard is still kidnapping people arghhh"carmine said throiwng her hands up smacking a desk loud enough as objects moved on it.

Marina sighed"dear calm down, though…are you actually the kids family?"she asked lazuli who decided to have falk on speaker.

"Yeah i'm his cousin so what lady?"lazuli replied as hariet chuckled at that making sure the door was closed.

"Been a while…swan"she knwoignyl replied as lazuli went wide eyed.

"What me? That dumb but awesome theif going around remant. Nah"lazuli replied playing it off as hairet knew she was lying. Though carmine and marina were surprised by this and so was falk.

"Ah crap were found out, okay i'm fleeing atlas by feathers"falk said on the other end as hairet stopped his worries and hers.

"Hold on kid i aint gonna rat you out. Owe your family that much for not saving your cousin"hairet sadly reassured which made falk on the scroll and lazuli shocked.

Marina sighed"junior quit blaming yourself for his death, kid went out on his own terms. "She begun as she placed a hand on her friends shoulder.

"Though i'm guessing your here for info on who did that stuff to your family"marina added to lazuli who nodded

The theif looked down upset as she took a seat"look from some notes I saw back in vale at your camp its screwed up"lazuli said pointing to hariet who was shocked but knew she saw what the general had planned.

"You saw what james was going to do with his body wren't you?"carmine sadly replied

Lazuli glared at her"yeah you all were gonna deny my aunt a proper burial. She already lost him years ago, she was devastated she raised them like her own. For god sakes she lost her right arm saving him from a grimm before it killed him"lazuli begun her rant because she needed to vent after the last few weeks.

"Your dumb military was going to do what those bastards did to him that lab. But yet your still slandering him as some monster on the news. Why?! I already lost my dad in that dam city because of that…stupid gig we took. Then i lose my cousin again….my brother in vacou…my baby sister…i don't even know. I'm sure my aunt and other cousin are….are…heart broken. "Lazuli added as her voice almost broke as a few tears welled up.

She sniffed as she pounded a table slightly"why did you take him….why?"she finished looking at the doctor with sadness in her eyes. Though marina took this opporutnity to guide the girl to a seat making her sit down.

"Look take a deep breath in and out then count to three"marina instructed as lazuli did just that sniffing a little. She took a deep breath in then out, then did it a few more times calming herself down.

"Better?"hariet asked as the girl nodded

"I want an explanation"lazuli demanded

Carmine sighed heavily covering her eyes"i didn't have a choice in the matter, if you saw he files. My family was being held hostage…they…they took marina and our kids. "Carmine replied as her wife place a hand on her shoulder.

"Yeah, she and them apperently get kidnapped. I dont know where they are until i get a call from her one day. Telling me and my ace op buddies to come to some lab in vale"marina added

"After that we breach the place trying to find her, eventually we found your cousin in some room locked up. Though kid almost took my head off, though mariana saved my ass"harriet added as mariana chcukled.

"She right but look my wife didn't like helping in these experiments along with her mentor."mariana reassured

"Okay..but what is that thing in my cousin back"lazuli questioned recalling the ct scan.

Carmine lifted her glass up rubbing her eyes as she spoke"their known as chimera grimm, they have the ability to take over someone orgaism that are grafted onto the spine for full control. They use their tendrils to take control of the host bodie function and mind"Carmine explained to the girl because she had a right to know.

"But….how did Z not be control by it?"lazuli questioned surrpised that type of grimm exist.

Carmine then walked over toward a small container on a table. The scientist pressed a few buttons as it soon beep a bit. Then it opened as an icy mist came from it, carmine then pulled something. Two very familiar syringes that her cousin used.

"You've probably seen him use these, they can stun the chimera grimm in their bodie. Puts them in a deep slumber for a bit, though their rare to make because of specific flowers needed"carmine replied

"Along with using grimm blood to stablize it but…i'm guessing your after watts"carmine finished looking at lazuli who nodded

"I just want to stop him from making more of those knights"lazuli said in confidnce because she also wanted payback against his employers

Hairet smiled at that as she grabbed the vials from carmine hands to her surprise"hmm well maybe we give you some of these to stun em"hairet said offering them as lazuli reached for them but she pulled away.

"But their a catch tonight we meet with the detectives to stop the slave trade tonight. If talon are invovled then watts might be their"hariet added

Marina cupped her chin"junior you really gonna be hiding this from james? Thought you were his most loyal soldier alongside clover"marina added knowingly as hairet sighed.

"Look kid family been hurt plenty already, her lynx sibling and ice cream hair shouldn't have their sister locked up"hairet said as lazuli went wide eyed

"You…know my siblings?"she nervously asked wondering if she knew where they were

"Yep, though last i saw the ice creamed hair one she went to some place called dryshore. That was weeks ago, so she might be somewhere else sorry."hairet answered

Though lazuli sat their for a bit pondering her current siataiton right now. Because if she has something that can stun those knights. She could integrate them or even kill them before they cause more trouble. And maybe get those detectives off her back for a while. The theif looked toward the women nodding.

"Okay look i'll do it…but if those dectives are their i need to hide my identity"lazuli replied as she slipped her swan mask on. Hairet chuckled nodding to her as the two set off to meet with a certain pilot.

Though right now in jacque study he was on a phone call with a specific buyer of his right now. Jacque had a drink in hand as he spoke to reo.

"Now remember tonight near that abandoned factory is where i'll hand off eight of my workers. Each one will cost you five hundred lien each"he spoke into his scroll

"Hmm fine not that much anyway, but i'll bring a convoy nearby with a researcher who'll want to inspect them"reo said on the other end.

"Gladly just make sure to arive on time"jacque replied

Reo chuckled on the other end"though the news lalty has said good things about you. Saying how you care about your workers now providing them homes and food"reo replied

The businessman smiled"yes thank you for the suggesting, the last three days have been great with the public. Got anymore?"jacque replied as reo stopped for a second.

"Heres one maybe do a charity event in a few days. "Reo suggested as jacque was inrigued

"Oh those their simple as ever, but why would i do that?"jacque questioned still intrigued

"Well the news lately has been skeptical about atlas. Since the recent dust embargo and closing of borders here. I'm just suggesting do a chaiety event toward a vale relief fund and dealing with those grimm knights. Show the public you care"reo suggested as jacque already has one lined up in a few days.

"Hmm yes that could work we were going to have one on raising money for willow hopsital. But that could work as well, though i'll still put some of the profit toward them to make her get off my back"jacque replied

"Alright then, good working with you by the way if it goes bad. You know what'll happen."reo replied

Jacque sighed"if that does happen i'll give you more of my unrurly workers next time deal?"he replied as reo hung up stafied with that answer.

But unknown to him willow was listening the whole time, she gritted her teeth texting falk more info. Though soon hours past as it was closing in on the time for the deal trade off. Hariet called up the detectives to meet her at a specific location. Marrow was still working on gathering info on the knights.

Detective knight was leaning against a building as they stood their close to a building. The building in question was old and decreptied along with it praticually being abdanoned. Though right now they were close to the outskirt of mantle which led to a straight shot out of town.

Nancy sat down sighing"Where the heck is she with a new associated she found at?"nancy groaned

"Listen kid just relax she'll be here…though who did she bring with her?"he asked thinking it was another atlas military soilder maybe.

Though nancy ears soon twitched as an electrical blur came skidding to a stop. Alongside a trail of feather which made the two go wide eyed. Their infront of them was lazuli in her bodysuit with her signiture mask.

"Your contact is that theif?!"henry shouted grabbing his revolver along with nancy pulling her magnum on her.

"Oh what detective you miss me?"swan asked playfully

"Well that another case solved let book her and.."nancy begun but hairet stopped her.

"Hold on kid the one who told me where the deal was going down tonight"hairet stated as she wore her cvilain clothes she early wore to the detectives shock they were confused.

"And why would you do that? You usually steal from musems, tech firms, art gallerys and dust shops."nancy asked swan who looked away.

Swan sighed"look the only reason i'm in this dam city is because of these slavers"she replied to detective knight shock as he lowered his pistol. Hes been after her for years now but wanted to know why she was after these slavers.

"Why you after them?" he simply questioned still having his gun trained on her.

"Look you all hear about people going miss yah?"swan replied as nancy answered.

"You mean how several people across vale to atlas go missing for the past ten year. Why?"she questioned as her ears twitched.

"Let just say one of the kid family members were taken by them a while ago. She came to robyn and to her surprise asked for my contact info. Called me up saying she found some slavers making a deal here tonight. Said she tell me if i agree to let her go when we stop em"hariet answered

"Yeah and look you always said i should do some good. So here we are"swan said presenting the building as the grizzled detectives sighed regretting what he was going to say.

"Fine but this is a one time pass, your lucky i wanna save those people from these thugs"he replied as swan smiled at him with a cheeky grin. Then she began leading them inside of the buildings. Soon enough they found a ladder that let them topside then found a door.

Swan picked the lock as they stepped inside an old foremans office. Though the four quickly piled up to look down below. They looked to see several men in winter clothing along with some in tactical gear.

"What the…are those guys in military gear?"nancy queitly questioned

"Seems so, though…that symbol"henry stated quietly staring at a crimson talon soilder patch.

"Crimson talon, mercnarys for hire if i recall. Saw some reports a while back saying their pretty much like slavers"hariet answered

Lazuli though looked around for the faunus that were being traded. But soon looked over toward an armored convoy with a look of horror. Because near the armor convoy was something they weren't expecitng to see tonight.

Near the armored convoy stood a very large man who was muscular in appearance. Though what was off putting was his skin was ghost white, he had wollymammoth looking tail for a faunus trait colored ghost white. But he also had what appears to be pair of black dress pants with red lining it. Their was also a white dress shrit on underneath a thick black winter trench coat. Though he wore a crimson red tie on and wore some very large brown dress shoes. On his face was what appeared to be a goolaith mask that obsercured his face.

"Oh shit….they got a knight"swan queitly said as the other relzied this too. They looked in horror as down below the grimm knight was talking with reo and the thug who offered the workers.

"Their you uh..go…eight fresh slaves for your uh…mines"he nerovusly said looking at the grimm hybrid

The man noticed this chuckling"What? Afraid of me or something, is it fear i sense?"he asked in a polite but elegant tone.

The man hesitated before nodding"yeah uh no offense…but we didn't expect to be working with uh…one of you grimm knights"he nerovusly said

"Are you gonna kill us?"a thug asked

"Look we aint gonna tell anyone you were here honest"another added as reo chuckled with his gas mask on

"Listen here were making a deal tonight dorian or his code name omicron won't kill you. He just here to look at the product before we left. How are they?"reo asked

The man known as dorian along with being the goliath grimm knight looked inside. He already done his checkup but cupped his chin under his mask. Though up above detective knight noticed something on one of the people an SDC mark.

"In my opinion these new subjects will do nicely. But…just to make an example"dorian said as he walked over toward a thug. He grabbed him swiflty by the neck as he squeezed hard enough to smash his throat as a loud crack could be heard. They all backed up in fear right now as only six thugs remained.

"Why…why..did you kill em?"a female thug asked scared for her life.

Reo smiled under his mask"if you tell anyone and i mean anyone we were here. We'll know or you'll end up like that guy over their. Now here you cash"reo said as he walked to the truck opening the car door. Then he reached inside pulling out a scroll. He typed into it for a second until the main thug heard a beep.

He nodded as he shook reo hand"thank you for your uh transaction sir…let us know if you want more workers"he replied as reo nodded then motioned for his men to load up. They all piled into the armored convoy though dorian just walked tward the truck then climbed ontop of it sitting their calmly.

Soon enough the truck sped away as up above the other four stood in horror at what they just saw. Dective knight wanted to rush down to save them but he didn't have a death wish tongiht.

"Holy shit, that was one of those freaky knights"nancy quietly said

Hareit nodded"yeah that one seemed like a goliath…guess that four of them ouf of the thirteen"she siad heisanting on that number as lazuli sighed at that.

"Look let deal with these thugs…we couldn't save those people. Let round them up quickly then we go our separate ways"swan said as she had a sadden expression on her the detective noticed as he narrowed his gaze.

"We should have gotte here sooner…though let deal with em. Then go our separate ways"the dective said as the thief nodded. Immeidalty swan used her smeblance to dash down below. She fired a couple bolts into a couple thugs which were caught off guard by this. Once they hit em the two them fell to the ground asleep.

"Wha the hell?!"a thug shouted aiming a shotgun at her then fired. The pellets wnet past her as she ran in a circle for a bit. But from up above the two detectives started laying down covering fire. Along with hariet who had on a simple face mask and shades to hide her idneity.

"Crap more of them!"another shouted as he was hit in the shoulder as he crackled with electricity. Hariet fired an electric dust shot at him, she wanted to use her semblances. But everyone knows who the ace ops are and their abilities. If they see her next thing she knows more questions will arise.

But down below swan jumped towards a wall as she ran across it quickly. Then she jumped foward toward a thug drop kicking him into another. She then landed perfectly on her two feet smiling at her victory.

"Ha two points"she stated but soon the last thug who was a burly one swung his fist into her. This launched her into a wall as she landed face down with a thud.

"Kid!"dective knight called out hoping down as nancy joined him. Hairet rushed down to hoping over the railing and landed ontop of the two thugs swan dropkicked. Immedialty they were kncoked out as the three began firing electric dust shots into the man.

The burly thug laughed"that tickles asshole"he said as he walks toward nancy as she kept firing. She kept firing at him until a click could be heard.

"Ah shit"the rabbit faunus stated as the thug grabbed her by the ears threatening to pull them off.

Henry went wide eyed as he kept firing at him"let her go asshole!"he said as he kept shooting at him. Though with swan she slwoly picked herself up as her vision was slightly blurry. But as she did she looked at the ground going wide eyed. Her mask was far away from her as she cursed.

"Crap"lazuli said as she got up quickly to grab her mask but wobbled a little. She rubbed her head for a bit then felt a small bump. That landing must have gotten her a bruise for her troubles.

Hariet glanced from her shoulder seeing her without her mask. The ace op then looked to where it was rushing over to it. The women grabbed it then rushed to lazuli as she helped slipped it on

"Here kid don't want the old guy to lose his little chase"hairet said as lazuli nodded but rubbed her head.

"Yeah though dam bastard…ughhh i'm going to lay down after this"lazuli stated rubbing her bump on her head.

Though with detective knight the grizzled man soon ran out of ammo. Though the burly thug soon threw nancy into a wall as she groaned laying on the ground. Soon enough henry pulled out something from his waist coat. The man soon pulled out a baton and with a press of a button. It elecitfied as he rushed into the man as he smacked him across the face holding the button.

"Eat this you muscle bound fuck!"he shouted as the burly thug was contorting a little as the electricity shocked him for a bit. He slowly raised his hands to smash him but then three bolts got shot into his chest. Swan stood up panting aiming her wristmounted crossbow at him.

With that the thug soon fell down to the ground passed out. The dective then turned his attention immediately to his partner who slowly pulled herself up.

"Ugghh jerk never touch a girls ears"nancy stated rubbing her sore ears

Henry chuckled"hey at least they weren't torn off"he replied offering a hand to her as she took it.

Then hariet and swan regroup with them as swan wobbled a little holding her head. "Ughh nice job everyone though…i'm guessing your going back on our deal?"she asked rubbing her sore head.

Nancy cupped her chin"i kinda wanna do it…though she led us to some good intel. We stopped some of the slavers and found out who helping the knights of grimm"she said

"Yeah though…weird for mercs to be working with these freaks. Probably their queen or something hired them"hariet suggested as henry nodded before pulling out a cigarette and lighting it

"Despite that…the chase has been good for five years. I'll only allow this once since you helped me expand a couple of my cases. Though you gonna be good kid?"he asked as swan took a seat on a nearby crate rubbing her head.

"I will got one of my crew coming to get me"she replied

"Oh let me guess hei bei, hawk…that skyguy?"nancy asked as immediately said skyguy came in. falk came into the building though he wore a brihgt pink flight helmet on his head. They were surpsied he got here right when they nancy said it.

"Hey dective…uhh we've never met it me the pilot…the guy who always out runs your squad cars"falk said smugly as he walked over helping lazuli up. But nancy walked over hositing her up as falk wrapped an arm around her.

"I remember though…where those other two in your crew? What they turn tail on you?"henry smugly asked as the two left the building.

"No clue where they are….they could be dead"Swan sadly replied which the two deceive took notice of. Though before they could question it she threw a smoke pellet down and they coughed as it covered the area. Soon enough the dective saw she was gone and sighed.

About an hour alter they called marrow and clover along with ironwood as a small atlas patrol were arresting the thugs. The general walked over toward the detective with a stoic face. But ahriet was surrpsied to see clover here with them actually.

"Dective it seems you've found the one responsible for the slave trade"ironwood said

"Yeah though bad news and good news, which one do you want first?"nancy asked

Marrow cupped his chin"oh the good news"he answered excitly for the general who stared him down. Marrow slinked down as his tial wagged around for a bit.

"Sorry"he apolgzed as clover patted him on the back.

"Relax wags, though good job you two on doing some vigilante work"the man complemented the two ace ops as hairet chuckled.

"It was nothing but, good news is we stopped the slaver. Along with figuring out that a grimm knight was here"she said which shocked clover, marrow and the general.

"But..but how?! How in the name of remnant did one get through the blockade we made?"marrow questioned

"I don't know but if that did happen they would need atlas access codes to get past our defneses. Some of which are only offered to the miltary or council"clover added

Henry cupped his chin"probably came in by ground i'm guessing, if i recall some places aren't patrol well by sea. Another thing could be they've camped out in the mountains. But this one looked like a goliath and his name was omicron"the detective stated as he took a puff of his cig blowing it.

Ironwood sighed"this is troublesome, though i'm already guessing what the bad news is"he said as nancy sighed at this.

"We couldn't save the people held capture, these mercs known as the crimson talon took em. If that knight wasn't their we could have saved them…sor–"she begun but clover stopped her.

"Look we got valubale info right now on who doing the slave trade right now. Along with the identity of another knight, thats good in my book."clover affirmed they did good tonight.

"Agree though i'm guessing your stay in atlas is over?"irownood asked henry who cupped his chin.

"Nah i'm going to keep looking to see if i can find that hayley girl. Maybe she'll turn up…maybe even that thief. Oh and tell jacque schnee someone took his workers. Saw a SDC brand on one of them"the dective said as him and nancy bid them goodnight.

The general sighed as he needed to make a stop to the schnee manor tonight it seems. Along with that he wondered how much those two dectives knew about the knights. He left with clover and marrow in tow. Hariet though quickly made her way somewhere else making a drop off somewhere. She stopped by a hanger near a cliff quickly and dropped some syringe off to a certain thief who appciated it. Though unknown to her nancy and detective knight follow her to that hanger as nancy held a small tracking device that had a beeping dot on it.

"Got you now kid"dective knight stated as he was planning to arrest this theif soon.

This chapter was interesting with the apperance of another grimm knight the golaith knight known as omicron. Along with that it seems the detective is hot on the swans trail now. With the appernace of mariana tortuga who is the wife of carmine alcus, along with that intel on these grimm hybrids. Thanks for reading!
