Chapter 15 teal:Schnee Soiree
The night was rather cold like uually on the cotinent of atlas as per usally. But tonight was a speical night because tonight as the schnee chaierty event for the kingdom of vale. The ride their wasn't long as eria carpooled with henry and zephyra. They arrived at the illusive place the chairety event was being held. It was close by to the hotel they were staying at which seemed to be a ballroom like area. Eria was simple amazed by the sight still, but wondered when she'll see her fellow ice queen
"So you guys ever come to one of these?"henry asked
"Not really first one actually"eria replied
"Oh i've been to a couple they were dreadfully boring"calida replied
"That we can agree, i come here for the food sometimes. But some of their causes are pretty good"henry replied
Zephyra sighed"look tonight event is pretty important most of the money going to the reconstruction and efforts of taking vale back. "She replied with a small smile.
"That nice but…how do you walk in these things"calia complaiend as she kept a proper posture but struggled to walk in the heels she wore. Eria giggled a little because it was like rogue back during the vytal dance.
"I don't know, you just get used them mother"eria replied coldy
"She not wrong, but lets go we'll be late to the event"zephyra reminded as they walked inside. They were greeted by some staff member who asked for their invites. Which each showed as they escorted them into the chairety event. The room is was held in was grand in size as their were tables filled with food or drink for the guest. On one table thier was a lrge fountain that was sculpted to resemble the schnee familt crest.
But on the far opposite end of the place was a set of abstract painting for the charity event. Along with a large banner that went across the place that said"show the world we care, all proceeds go to the kingdom of Vale and stopping the thirteen knights of grimm"the banner read.
Eria walked around trying to find weiss so she could tell her some good news. But to no avail she was nowhere to be seen. But she noticed several waits around the place all of which were mainly faunus.
"Where are you weiss"eria thought to herself as they continued to walk through the ballroom.
"Hmm this cahriety event for the people back in vale right?"henry asked
"Yes, along with stopping the remaining knight of grimm. Seriously am things give me the creeps"zephyra replied but relized eria was with her.
She was about to say something but eria shook her head that it was fine. They continued their walk but she just hoped nothing happened tonight. As they walked around for a bit as jacque approached them with whitley by his side.
"Ah the hayley family good to see you. Along with you henry and "jacque greeted the group.
"Jacque, nice to see you finally, also thank you for inviting us"calid replied calmly as she really wanted to sock the guy across his face for everything he done to her and his family.
"Pleasure to meet to sir"eria greeted as jacque looked at whitley who looked away to eria confusion if something happened.
Jacque looked at the group for a second"where is jaki? I thought he'd come with you for our charity event?"ajcque questioned disappointed it seems.
"Oh my father is busy in vacou right now, they asked him to help with providing students who lost a limb during the fall"eria answered as jacque glared at her a little.
She backed up a little from him because it seemed he hated her answering for her mother.
"I was talking to your mother child, learn when the adult are speaking"jacque said
Calida kept her glare on him"i'm fine with my daughter answering that question, let me raise my kids my own way. Got it"calida retorted
Jacque huffed"children should learn when to speak at time. Though your table it near the stage alongside and the gogh family"jacque said pointing toward the table as eria looked worried right now. That she just had to get seated near leah at this event.
"Oh thank you we'll be on our way over"calida replied as eria and zephyra followed her. Henry went off to do his own thing it seems. As they walked over to where their table was. Eria was nervous what leah might say or do when they get their.
Zephyra noticed this sighing"look i'm just gonna say it…i'm sorry for what i said early."she apolgized
"Its fine…i've gotten used to it"eria replied
"Yes well, let just hope this brat isn't as bad as that razma girl said she was"calida commented hoping she didn't start anything.
Though eira wondered where weiss was probably performing right now on stage with thisite if she can guess. But she wondered if tonight will just be boring talks about business meeting and mergers.
"Hmm though i don't see willow or their youngest here? Zephyra do you know where they are?"calida asked
Zephyra cupped her chin shaking her head"i have no clue my guess something happened at the hospital and she was needed their. Their youngest i don't know"she replied which worried caldia a little.
Soon enough they got to the table they were all assigned. Once their three people were already seated with each other deep in discussion. One was a women nother a man while the other was a girl.
The women who seemed in her late thries and she had light black hair that was styled into a bun. Her skin was fair and her eyes where light brown in color. Along with that she wore an halter dress that reached below her knees colored light grey. Their was also a pin on her right breast of the hines company seal. That being an airship ballon with an H on the ballon. She wore a pair of short heels that were jet black. Along with some dark grey lipstick on her lips.
While the man seemed to be in his late thirties as he had blonde hair cut short and slicked back. While his eyes were light purple in color along with that hsi skin was pale. He was we tang suit that was dark yellow in color with black lining it. On the right breast pocket was a paint brush embrodded onto the suit colroed in blue. While he wore a pair of blue dress pants with brown dress shoes.
But eria dreaded who was here because it was leah who wore a qi pao dress colroed yellow with gold flower detailing the dress. It reached just above her knees while she wore some short heeled pump colored yellow.
The women looked up at zephyra who took her seat"finally your here? What took you so long?"she demanded to know
"Oh me and henry were on our way out until i ran into some old friends"zephyra replied gesturing to the hayleys. Eria took this moment to introduce herself.
"I'm eria hayley, leader of team ZERO"she introduced herself shaking the women hand which made leah narrow her eyes at her.
"I'm calida hayley her mother and wife of jaki hayley"calida introduced herself next.
The women dusted her shoulder off"i'm mindy hines, co owner of hines airship. I see you've met my daughter. At least she has friends unlike those two socundrels on her team"the women known as mindy hines replied disgusted
Eria was a little shocked by this but guess that she didn't really like the two rockstars. But she might like ame since she didn't bring her up exactly during their conversation. Zephyra looked down at this clenching her fist wanting to speak out. But calida beat her to it.
"Oh you mean the two boys we've known for years. One of whom has passed, its rude to speak ill of the dead"calida stated firmly and glanced at leah who rolled her eyes. She wanted to make it apparent not to talke about the dead.
Mindy huffed"yes, but maybe those two are the reason your other one ran away"she replied as eria was visible upset by that.
She took a deep breath"please don't speak ill of my boyfriend and a very good freind please"eria asked as the women was surrpsied by that. She was going to say something but zephyra divert the topic quickly.
"Mother please, they are my teammates they hayley have known them for a long time. "Zephyra stated as soon the man cleared his throat getting their attention.
"Umm if introductions are underway i'm hai gogh, owner of the gogh gallery"the man introduced himself with a bow.
Leah rolled her eyes"i'm leah gogh, I was on team VRML missing someone now"leah added glaring at eria who noticed this. But the man seemed to look disgusted it seems as well.
Calida noticed this deciding to addres it"excuse me why are you staring dagger at my daughter?"calida asked leah who crossed her arm leaning back in her chair slightly.
"Oh nothing lady just surprised to see my best friends murderers teammate here. "She replied
"Yes, now i see who you are you were on that grimm knight team who started the fall. My daughter telles me it helped kill a boy our family knew"hai supported
"That must have been dreadful to not relize that thing was on your girls team. Was it the one who took her leg?"she asked as eria was surrpsied by this. Calida clenched her fist in rage keeping her cool.
Eria quivered in rage trying to keep calm but was also fighting the tears back right now. She didn't want to embarrass her father infront of these people tonight. He in vacou probably now, but she just didn't like hearing this.
"For your information someone else took her leg. Also don't bring that up to my daughter gain, its a sensitive topic"she warned but demanded to leah it seems.
"Yes, please she right tonight a charity event"zephyra backed up but leah ignored her.
She rolled her eyes"are you my parent lady because you aint, oh just to let you know.."she started glancing at eria with a smirk.
"I'm happy that hes dead"she conitneud as eria visible flinched at this. She just hung her head down gripping her proshthetic leg knee.
Calida eye twitched as something hit the table presumably her knee then she looked at hai"control your dam kid or else"she threatened.
"What? She just saying the trut–"he begun but surpignly someone close by stopped him.
" and , i would advise you to cease any further. They might have not known about him being one. But its still quite rude to say those things to them"beatrice said as she looked at the two.
"Ah beatrice, but why should we my daughter and matu were friends. She just saying whats on her mind"hai backed up his daughter behavior.
"Yeah sorry that i'm happy that monster is–"leah begun before she received a stair from beatrice as she slinked down in her place.
"I agree that these knights are monster, but leave their family alone. They've been through plenty in the last month. "Beatirce affirmed as she walked off from the group. She walked over to where jacque sat with surprisingly general ironwood who was here. Though eria appreciated it a little because it seems the women has influence here.
Though soon enough the lights dimmed down enough to darken the room. Then soon enough a spotlight switch on pointed toward the stage. On the stage eria looked to see weiss standing their being a microphone. While thistie was close by ona piano it seems.
After a bit of silence as everyone got quiet waiting for the girl to sing. Soon enough weiss did as she began to speak into the mic. While thisite began to press the piano keys playing a soft and slow melody. The atlas symbol was behind her as she continued her song.
The song was elegant yet beautiful at the same time. This continued on for a few minutes as weiss eventually outstretcherd her arms continuing. Eria was a little impressed with her singing, she also played very well with the piano during the vytal festival.
Close by at the table where jacuqe reserved with his son whitley. Though jacque was smiling because this could help boost his reputation and gain support fro the people. Tronwood had a glass in hand as he drank it listening to the tune. While whitley was happy his sister seemed to be enjoying herself slightly.
Beatrice hummed at the tune thisite was playing"a stunning performance from my niece along with your daughter jacque"she complemented
"Why tes it is, she wanted to sing tonight to put everyone in a good mood. Along with being front and center to support our kingdom"jacque replied
"Yes though i thought you were made about the dust embargo. You told me recently how your worried about your workers in those mines. Along with those hospital your builiding"the general knwoingly said as beatrice was suspicious of this.
Jacque chuckled"i was but i thought you were right in a way. That why this money is going to the effort of rebuilding vale and stopping those remaining elven knights of grimm. Thankfully two are dead"jacque said
Ironwood kept a stoic face but continued his drink, he didn't trust the kid at first. But over the last few year he did grow on him. With pietro progress on rebuilding penny he could have been locked up. But with ace ops confirming his death back in vale, and the kingdoms asking question. He had to divert the blame and he was the best candidate
"Yes, though admirable your providing homes to the faunus people. It nice their receiving a warm meal and place of dwelling"beatice said to jacque surprise.
"Dear you usually call them beast, what have are you stympathizing with them now?"he asked confused if she was going crazy at her age.
"Oh its just someone helped me relize how i;ve acted toward them was quite rude. But lets enjoy their performance"beatrice replied as they refocused on the two girl perofmrnace. Which was now nearing its end as once they finished the two stood up bowing to the audience.
Weiss could hear the clapping and applaud from the performance her and thisite did. But she looked around to see if her special guest was here. But noticed her father not standing up remaining seated with a stern expression. While whitley was clapping for smiling as she returned it.
But she couldnt see eria yet which made her sadden that she didn't come. She kept scanning the crowd until eyeing someone then looking back slightly. Their she saw eria clapping her along side calida. But she was happy to see her standing on both legs now. The audience soon stoped as the two exited off stage.
"Thankfully that finally over"weiss said
"Yes, now we just need to sit here and listen to business conversation"thisite added with a smirk as weiss chuckled a little.
"Your right, how fun"Weiss said annoyed as she and the girl continued on with the chairtey event.
Later during the event waiters went around carrying martini glass on a tray to the guest. A soft piano could be heard playing along with a violin, with several other instruments in the background. It set the mood for the vent tonight.
But at a table close by was eria sitting down still wondering where weiss was. Along with thisite and zephyra joining her at the table. Calida went off to the crafts table to eat something. They all just caught up with each other.
"I can't believe its almost been a month since we last saw each other"zephyra stated
"It is quite shocking still, though how have you two been?"thisite asked
Eria sighed"a little better thing have ben rough, i'm still dealing my friends loses. Their also my lose of limb and new position as leader"she answered
Zephyra groaned as she layed her head down"i've been decent…thing at haven have been nice. Although.."she trailed off glancing toward her mother.
Eria noticed this placing a hand on zephyra shoulder"are you still hurt about tanner death?"she soflty asked
"I've noticed this too you two fought alot back in haven. But you seemed to care about each other"thisite added as zephyra looked down upset.
I did…but i just wish he didn't have to die"she replied
"Same here, but i can't thank him enough for saving my sister"eria stated with a smile.
Zephyra still was upset it seems"he did though…i miss him always screaming at the top of his lungs in the morning. It was like our morning routine back in haven…he'd get up singing or whatever. I'd use my semblance to launch him into a wall or outside a window"zephyra begun smiling a little
"Though..i never got to ask that dumb idiot out"zephyr added to eria shock a little.
"Wait..you…you like tanner? The guy who would cause mischief in the streets of argus everyday?"eria asked surprised by hearing.
Thisite laughed covering her mouth"oh i can't even see that, you two always fought with each other"she added as zephyra smiled
"We did but….my mom…she keeps…she keeps saying horrible things about him. How him and perun even got on our team, that we should have had proper huntsman. "Zephyra sadly said
"i understand how troubling than can be"eria replied looking down.
"I just…i just wish she'd stop…and that he was still.."zephyra started as she buried her face into her arm as a small muffle sob could be heard. Thisite noticed this placing a hand on her shoulder consoling her.
"Its alright, just let it out"she softly said as soon the hine heriness did sniffing as she rubbed her eye.
"Thank you"zephyra thanked as thisite nodded
"No problem my fellow heiress"thisite joked as eria recalled something. The yoder family did own a vast music business across mistral last she heard. Which meant she was the company heir.
"Guess we are just agroup fo heiress here, i wonder where weiss is?"zephyra questioned
"Same here, though has anyone else showed up at haven yet?"eria asked wondering if any of their teammates haven't yet or maybe rogue was their.
"Ame and perun are their, i'm probably heading back tonight though"zephyra replied
Thisite sighed"my partner bombay hasn't arrived their yet, along with bashira. But naca was their but she went to visit someone in vacou soon if i recall"thisie answered
"Yeah but…have you seen rogue their maybe?"eria aksed to the two confusion
"Why would she be their?"zephyra questioned
"What are you implying? Do you think she ran away to attend a huntsman academy?"thisite asked
Eria shook her head"no she went after team BRAS actually, she wanted revenge for the people we lost. I just hope she doesn't run into any trouble"eria sadly answered as thisite went wide eyed in shock.
"Wait..them…oh no i hope she alright that entire team spell trouble"thisite warned but was hiding something from them they couldn't know.
"I agree panic attack seriously i should have blown that girl into the ocean"Zephyra referred to rosemary obviously
Though eria looked over a little seeing leah glaring at her from across the room. The girl sighed because she didn't have time for something like this tonight. Along with what she said early she had the gull to act so childish.
"Umm i'm going to get some air real quick"eria said suddenly walking away as the two were confused but also concerned if she was doing okay. But eria also wanted to find weiss to tell her something.
Meanwhile with weiss right now she was listening to her father talk to several business partners right now. Along with their group was beatrice, hai and calida. Though weiss noticed the women with a drink in hand annoyed. Calida was trying to drown the man out because he kept pestering her about emerging their companies.
"Come now dear you must understand if we merge we can be very beneficial to each other. I could offer you dust supplies at lower the cost even the rarer ones. Our comapnie do also share the same options to our employees living sittaiton"jacque suggested
"Look it not my decision to make, and your not going to try convincing me to persuade my husband."calida firmly stated to the man.
Hai scoffed" hmm besides that their a bigger issue in atlas right now"hai stated
"Oh and what would that be?"beatrix asked wondering what he meant.
"That our kingdom may not survive an attack from those knights. Seriously we're lucky two of them are dead. And the miltary barely given us any closure on the situation"hai said but glanced at calida.
"Maybe their military is looking for info on them. Though they should stop attempted kidnapping more wouldn't you agree jacque"calida said to jacque who kept a straight face.
"Agreed i heard what happened to your husband dreadful i might say"he replied smugly as calida decided to take her leave. She can't handle being near the man anymore, though beatrice wondered if calida was implying something. She decided to follow her to ask.
"Excuse me miss hayley"betraix called out as calida sat on a chair near a far side wall sighing.
"Oh beatrix let me guess your here to ask for a merger?"calid asked as beatrix took a seat with her.
"No i'm curious why you glared at jacque when you mention your husband attempted kidnapping from a while ago"she queilty replied to the fiery women who went wide eyed.
The dance instructor looked around before sighing"well apparently the man who was hired to do it question his daughter while she visted with my kids. Which made me wonder, so i questioned her then she tells me something. That her father hired claw burrows to kidnap my frosty"calida said to her with a straight face
Beatrix looked at her shocked"that seems like what jacque might do…he's done something similar like this. Making bet or forcing someone to sign away their company. "The women replied
"Sounds just like him, surprised hes changed his business pratices. What trying to make his rep look good?"calida jokingly asked
"It appear so but, he always comaplined how he never wanted to give those poor people homes. He also hated the idea of his wife hospital. With these changes of his i feel like now would be a good time to change companies"beatrix simply said
"Are you asking to join my husband comapnie?"calida asked curiously as the women nodded
"I could, maybe we can discuss further after tonight festivities. For my reason why is someone showed me that i needed to stop being so harsh to their kind. I hate faunus but…"she trailed off watching a fuanus waiter get slapped across the face.
"Talk back like that again and i'll persoanlly mount you to my wall"the guest said as the faunus looked down.
"Sorry sir….my apologies"he sttuered walking off as the guest huffed. The man just kept talking like he did nothing. Calida watched this with anger in her eyes.
"That people from atlas treat them terrible"she finished as beatrix nodded. The two decided to discuss more on possible changing to a new comapnie. Instead of working for the devil known as jacque schnee.
Though with weiss right now she was trying her best not to die of broedom. Because her father kept draggin her and whitley around as he talked. She drowned him out but saw eria walking close by. She wanted to talk to her and get away from him, her brother as well it seems.
"Is it me or is he trying to improve his image"whitley whispered
"Your not wrong, people have viewed him terrible for his business pratices"she whispered back.
"I rather be home praticng medicine, maybe even talk to carmen"he quietly replied as weis giggled.
"Same here, i hope wren is okay though"she qeuitly replied worried. Though a very familair voice called out that she didn't want to see right now
"Oh hello jacque, and weiss its nice to see you again"a male voice called out
A boy who seemed a couple years older than her stood infront her, he had fair skins with maroon colroed eyes. He had dark red hair parted to the side along with having a slender build it seems. He wore a black dress shirt undenreath a dark red dress jacker along with dark red dress pants. He had gold cufflinks on his wirst and his buttons where gold colored as well. Along with a jester hat pin on his left chest pocket.
Jacque smiled offering a hand as the boy shook it"jasper harel its a pleasure to meet you again"he simply said looking at weiss
"Dear you recall jasper he took you to that lovely restaurant last year"jacque said as weiss kept a straight face. She recalls but hated the entire time, because the guy was rude to the staff for minor things. Along with touching her when he dropped her off, she recalled carmen hitting him across the face.
"Oh i recall uh pleasure to meet you again"weiss greeted
"It is, though i was curious are you free tomorrow evening?"jasper asked
Before weiss could answer ajcque answered for her"she is if i recall, i'm sure she wouldn;t mind instead of that ruffin i've seen at our home"jacque said as weiss looked visible upset by that. She actually like falk alot, but for him to set this up without her say anger her.
She started to leave but jacque stopped her"you know it rude to leave mid conversation?"jacque said not even looking at her.
"He's right how about tomorrow in the afternoon?"jasper asked
"Umm i'm just alittle thirsty and i need some air"weiss meekly said
Jacque scoffed a little"fine go get some air, oh and take jasper maybe you two can plan tommorrow appointment"he stated as weiss didn't argue. The two then walked away but weiss was disgusted by this. Along with whitley because he hoped he didn't do what he did last time.
Once near the painting weiss picked a drink up as jasper spoke. But close by an old suitor of her was looking at the painting as well.
"You know that performance you two did was wonderful"jasper complimetned slightly getting close as weiss backed away.
"It was, thank you"she replied looking at the art pieces on display
One was of beacon tower while another was strange to her. It showed about thirteen people on the canvas all dressed in knight armor but grimm like. Though above each of them where greek symbols as she guessed who painted this. Because on the right corner of the painting was leah gogh name saying it was her piece.
"You know these paiiting aren't as beautiful as you"jasper complemented again geting very close making her visible uncomfortable.
"Yes but do you know who their for?"she asked as jasper shrugged his shoulder.
"Don't know probably for an auction, leah did paint a magificnat piece"jasper replied
Weiss looked annoyed"its to raise money for the people back in vale"she answered crossing her arms.
"Oh you mean those failures as huntsman who couldn't even defend their kingdom. Beside about tommo–"he begun but she stopped him.
"I didn't agree to them at all, don't call those huntsman failures"She said in anger
"What you don't want all this?"he said gesutirng to his bodie as she rolled her eyes in disgust. She immediately began walking away from him, but she felt someone grab her forearm which was jasper.
"Listen i've been nice, seriously you can't refuse a harl"he said trying to pull her in but she pushed away.
"Let go of me"she demanded as he kept insiitng.
"Nope because i think i deserve serverance for that faunus bitch socking me in my jaw. I should have her beaten for assaulting me"he stated as weiss went wide eyed. He kept trying to pull her in as he grouped her side which made her feel disgusted.
But then someone soon separated the two as they shoved him away. Weiss looked up to see her savior being henry marigold. He was staring jasper down as jasper recoiled away.
"Henry how are you doing my old fri–"jasper begun but he stopped him.
"Back off creep, pretty sure someone doesn't like them touching them their. "Henry said firmly.
"Mind your business marigold i need to discuss our date tomorrow"he smugly said with a creepy grin as weiss reociled shivering a little.
"Pretty sure she didn't set it up back off"henry stood his ground nodding to weiss who ran off. Jasper trid to pursue but he was stopped by henry preventing him.
Though right now where the fountain was eria had a drink trying to enjoy herself. Along with finding where weiss was, but this entire event was not to her liking. For one all she could hear is about them complain about trivial things. It ranged from hair, money, what they were doing afterwards. They didn't care about this charity event at all.
She sighed wondering what her other teammates and friends were doing. Also where weiss was, but soon someone cleared their throat infront of her. Eria looked up to see leah with a smug grin on her face.
"Oh look its one of those twins from the murders team"leah said snarkly.
"Please just leave me alone"eria asked slightly annoyed.
Leah rolled her eyes"why should i? You feel sorry for some monster that helped slaughter several people. "She started her rant as eria glared at her before her hands slowly became covered in ice.
"Even your own sister ran away for what? To avenge your dumb friend who though killing thmesleves would save people. Beacon was so arrogant it allowed monster like him to attend, hell even white fang"she added with a cheeky grin.
Eria had a small tear well up, because she just insulted her entire team like it was nothing. Though close by was weiss who finally found her fellow ice queen. But she noticed her almost starting to cry which worried her. She also noticed leah their, and she knew what she was started walking over but jasper was close behind.
"Stop calling my friend a monster"eria gorlwed as her hand emitted an icy mist.
"Nope because you know like i said early.."leah said placing her hands behind her back leaning foward with a cocky grin.
"I'm glad he's dead"she said again
Immediately eria brought up her fist before punching leah in the chest pushing her back. As she did ice slightly covered her chest as she tripped backward inot a table. It made a crshing noise, as the room got quiet turing their attention to her. Along with calida and beatrix noticng as well.
"Oh no"calida said to herself rushing over but was wobbling slightly.
Weiss rushed over to eria who was seething in rage"can you stop bad mouthing my team"eria growled in anger
"Calm down, and are you okay?"weiss said placing a hand on eria shoulder which surprised her that she finally found her.
"I am..but..but she.."eria said as hai said something as he helped leah off the ground
"What the hell is wrong with you, why did you attack my daughter?"he questioned
"She just made i told her i'm glad that freak dead"leah answered as hai rolled his eyes in disgust.
"Seriosuly sympahtizing with a monster, your parents should be ashamed of you. Probably why your sister ran away"hai said as eria had tears starting to well up. Though calida hearts that part as her eyes began twitching in rage. The guest though just looked disgusted at eria.
Jasper though pushed forward trying to pull weiss away"weiss dear let get away from this grimm sympathizer then we.."jasper begun as weiss pulled her arm away.
"Don't touch me"she stated as jasper glared at along with an arrivng jacque.
"Come now i'm sorry for what i said early about vale. Not my fault their kingdom lacked defnese, in my opinion good riddances"jasper replied
This anger weiss as she glared"shut up! All of you weren't even their! All you care about are your stupid problem! While people died their, and you spit on their graves!"weiss shotued
