Chapter 16 teal:Worried For the Ice Queen
Later in the night in the hotel room they were staying at. Calida was seething in rage as she was packing up their things. She wanted to uphold her husbands coampny, but couldn't stand that devil anymore.
Eria was in her usual attire but felt a little guilty for causign a schnee. She curious if her mother was made at her, because she never seen her upset before. Calida kept silently curisng and muttering to herself as she packed. Thisite and beatrix where their to chek up on them.
"Umm eria are you oaky?"thisite asked softly.
"Yes, you seem shaken up right now both of you do?"beatrix added looking at calida slamming a draw shut.
Eria was hugging herself tight not wanting to let go"no..why…why did she say those things…why?"eria questioned sadly.
"I don't know she just hurt, but she just mad about matu death. If i recall those two seemed to be best friends before i moved to mistral"thisite replied
Though what eria said next didn't sit right with her mother"but she didn't have to slander beacon, my partner, my friends and my sister"eria cired as calida went wide eyed in rage.
"What did that little brat say about your sister?"calida asked in anger as her hand glowed red hot.
Beatrix walked over placing a hand on the women shoulder to calm her down"dear relax before you destory the hotel room. What did she say dear?"she calmly said as calida was slowly trying to calm down.
"She..she talked about my ssiter running away…how she was stupid going after the people who killed our friends. How stupid are friend were…for…killing themselves to save people. Then…slandering my teammates…even when one of them is dead"eria answered as her voice broke a little with tears in her eyes.
Calida groaned"that little brat i swear i'm going to punch her in the dam mouth"she said with malice.
"She should learn to respect those that fought honrable in my opinion. "Beatrix said wisly as eria was still crying. Calida noticed this walking over pulling her daughter into a loving embrace not letting go. Eria just leaned into her mother chest sadden hearing all that about her friends she lost and team.
"Its okay dear just relax, don't let her get to you. What do you mean by that beatrix?"calida asked as beatrix sighed
She placed her hands infront of her"on my way here to grab my niece i tooka ferry that was slated for menagerie first. I despised faunus and demanded we take a different and quciker route their. We did but i was the reason we became attack under sea like grimm. Several people lost their lives defending that ship"the women begun sadly.
"Eight brave souls, maybe more lost their lives defending that ship. I said we should throw them overboard, until that wolf faunus told me otherwise. Those brave men and women gave their lives to keep me and several other alive. They'd probably do it again…you should appeicate the scarfieces people made. Along with all those poor children in vale"beatrix sadly finished rubbing her eyes.
Eria sniffed a little frowning"i'm guessing she blew up on you…that very rare for my partner."eria smiled replying
"It seemed so, but she helped me relize how much of a bitch i was acting like"beatrix simply said as calida chuckled a little. But then she got a serious expression because she was worried about weiss and whitely.
"I'm more worried about your fellow ice queen right now"calida said to the three confusion
"That her um father abuse her, which wouldn't make sense"thisite stated
"Shes right….how would you know…weiss would have told us back at beacon?"eria asked
"Not everyone can tell you about their family life. She must have been scared because of the repercussions if her father found out. Though when you left jacque said in was a drunken stubborn which they believed. But all except for me"betrix said
"Why would you believe me aren't you friends with jacque?"calida asked
"Yes auntie, you always held in him high regard back then"thisite backed up
Beatrix scoffed"i may hate faunus but i wont tolerate child abuse. And i've known about him and willow divorce which made me instanly belive you. With also what you said is that he was the one who hired that assassin to kidnap your husband. "Beatrix replied as eria went wide eyed.
Back then when they came visiting to ask her father to help with rebuilding vale. That clay burrows fellow did attack them. But she thought a rival business coampny hired them but it was jacque. How did her mother know about it.
"How would you know jacque hired that assassin?"eria questioned
Calida looked down sighing"i confront her after the police arrested some of his men. Then…she said something troubling that het brother may suffer abuse because of a failed kidnapping. Her brother whitley told her about it seems. "Calida replied to eria shock that it was jacque after her father.
"But…but how can you prove he's been abusing his kids?"thisite asked as beatrix stopped her niece.
"Dear, what child would stand up to their father if their after their sibling. Though…right now i rather be in a company with someone who treats their workers and family fair. "Betrix said looking at calida smiling.
"If you'll have me dear?"she added as calida thought for a moment before smiling nodding to her.
"Of course….but where going to check on weiss and her siblings right now. To see if their okay. "Calida said grabbign her and eria luggage in hand. They were planning to leae tonight for argus since the pilot needed to leave at a certain time.
"Umm okay but what about you?"eria asked thisite who smiled.
"I'll be heading back to haven to continue my studies as a huntresses their. But if you want i'll keep an eye out for your sister while i'm their. "Thisite suggested as eria was surprised by this but just smiled.
"Please do and give perun my regards…thank you"eria said to thsiite who bowed
"It wouldn't be lady like if i didn't"she replied as beatrix chuckled
"It wouldn't but i'll join you on your way home calida dear. I may live in atlas but maybe an ocean side home seems nice. It'll make being in my new comapnie easier, i'll also apolgize to will if hes in vacou with your husband. "Beatrix replied
Eria sighed"its a nice place though…how was my partner when you last saw her. Just out of curiosity?"eria asked beatrix who nodded
"She seemed very torn about having to break the news to someone mother. But i gave her some words just like she did for me. Told her to be calm with the women and to hide that case of weapons. "Beatrix replied as calida hummed
"Yeah because isn't that women my old teasing buddie nadia?"calida asked smugly as eria wasn't surrpsied by this because she went to beacon it seems.
"She was…but i wonder if she'll be okay after losing him again. I noitced how happy she was to see him again. He died trying to save me…but he saved some other i guess"eria simply said
Soon enough they decided to go their separate ways. Beatrix and thisite went to pack their things and wait for calida. While calida and eria went to the schnee manor to check on a certain heri and heiress.
Though right now in the schnee manor in the lviign room was jacque staring into a fie. He had a look of anger on his face. As whitley and weiss stood before him bowing their heads and their hands folded on their laps.
"Unbeleive. You two are absolutely unbeleive. Do you have an idea how much money you both costed me?"he asked pointing to weiss then whitley in anger.
Weiss shfufled a little nervously in fear, because she was afraid as she sat their. She just listened hoping her brother wouldn't be punished because of her again.
"Jasper wants compensation for how you acted so you'll be going on that little date with him tomorrow. But including that our reputation was almost tarnished by that hayley whore. Luckily no one beleived the rabmling of a drunk. Guess i need another apporach for jaki mines he owns"he said
The two schnee sibling stared at each other because they both want to do something. Right now they were getting sick and tired of their father treatment of them. And after tonight they needed to speak their mind on the matter.
"I want to leave"Weiss stated
"I do as well"whitley added
"Beg your pardon?"jacque asked as he slowly turned with anger in his eyes at the two. Along with two guards in the room to deliver the punishment befitting the two schnee siblings. Something he's used many times before this.
"I said i want to leave. I can't stand being here anymore with you."weiss replied
"I as well, i want to leave this house for once not being told where do go"whitley added
"Their also that i want to leave atlas, and not stay here with you!"she shouted as whitley nodded in agreement.
"I don't give a dam what you two want! This isn't about you. This is about our company and schnee name and your apparent insistence of rebelling. You should learn manners when speaking to your parent. If you keep this behavior up you'll run our name down!"he shouted pointing at the two.
Weiss scoffed"i'm trying to uphold my family name. Not yours, you divorced my mother jacqu–"she begun but he smacked her across the cheek hard.
Weiss fell down hard on the floor as whistley rushed over helping her up. But on her cheek was one large red mark as she rubbed it looking at him. Whitley glared at jacque with hate in his eyes at this.
Jacque just checked his hand studying it for any blood or burisng.
He changed his posutre as he calmed down then gesuteed for the guards to do something. The two guards without hesitation grabbed one of two siblings. Jacque then pushed the latches up as the case clicked open.
"This behavior of yours is incredibly disappointing. You can't possible understand what lengths i've gone to keep my company in check. Nicholas gave me the company away willing, and what are you going to be like your sister to make the schnee name stronger? Siding with her and disobeying me will just make your lessons more severe."he started as he slowly walked toward the two.
"Were not sidng with anyone here. Its our choice how we live our lives not you!"whitley shoute in anger because he was sick of it.
"I want to pursue a career in medicine like my mom. Helping those in need just like our grandfather did. Leave my legacy for our family not yours"whitley said in confidence as weiss added on.
"Hes right and i'm not letting that pig touch me or come near me. I want to represent my family as a huntresses. I may have failed to save my friends leg…but i still have a team out their that need me"weiss added in confidence
Jacque roleld his eyes"you two aren't leaving atlas at all to pursue these childish careers. Actually your not even allowed to leave the manor ground. Your to remain here out of sight and out of trouble. Until you two can agree with me on yout future career"he said to the two shock.
"What?!"both said in unison as close by a familiar butterfly faunus was doing something. Because the door was slightly cracked as rad watched in horror.
"Its seems your mother failed at raising you two and your other brother. I'll be giving you three full attention now along with working on getting full custody of you three. So you can be with the parent you love"he said as the two glared at him as he had the whip in hand.
"You can't just do that we aren't going to stay here like your prisoners"weiss argued
"Shes right, people will just ask question. They'll want to know where the heiress and heirs of the schnee dust company is"whitley added as jacque smiled at that.
"You are my kids. A child needs to be grounded and pusnihed when they misbehave"jacque said as he cracked the whip causing the two to flinch at that in fear.
"Along with thaat you two aren't heirs to the schnee dust company"he said as the two went wide in shock.
"What?"whtiley asked surprised with a shocked expression.
"You..you can't do that mom still apart of the company"weiss added with worry
Jacque breathes heavily"well the trauma you've endured at the fall was too much for you. Which is why you revoke your claim to the company. You wanted to pursue a career in medicine as well as revoking your claim to the company. Hence forth wren schnee is the heir to the company"he said as the two where in shock.
But he held the whip in hand looking at his kids because they knew what he was going to say. If one of them was going to take the punishment for the other.
"Now you both can receive fifteen lashes each or one of you can recived thirty"he said as the two went wide eyed. Weiss knew that many would alot, he'll probably put a collar on them to do it. Though that many lashes could kill one of them if he did more than that.
Whitley shook a little as he was about to volunteer for all it. But instead weiss stepped up for it as she glared at her father.
"I'll take whitley punishment,but if you do that many i could die"she warned as jacque scoffed
"Don't worry since you volunteered, you get the first ten with your aura the rest with a collar"he said as he motioned for the guards to hold weiss in place they did. They removed her jacket still letting her cover herself upfront for some they turned her around as she looked at whitley with a look of horror on his face.
"I'm sorry"he mouthed to her as she shook her head telling him he didn't have to be.
Though soon enough the schnee father cracked his whip as the guard held weiss in place. Then he began to whip for her first ten lashes. As he did she could fell immense pain still even if she had an aura. But she held on strong because she couldn't stand her brother taking her devil of father punishment.
But outside in the hallway rad was doing something that willow ordered him to do. That was to record the man doing his heinous acts to finally stop him. After a bit of time he stopped rushing away toward willow room hopefully she was ready for the plan tonight.
About a few hours later a black car pulled up to the schnee manor gate. But along the way calida explained everything to eria. How she found out exactly how jacque was abusing his kids. Along with pyrrha figuring out to her surprise but kept it a secret for weiss. Though she was still rather shocked hearing this still.
But if it was true she wanted to return the same gesture to her. She helped her with her lose of limb, but she felt guilty not relziing it sooner. Right now she doing something and that would be checking up on weiss.
The window rolled down as the driver looked around seeing no one.
"Ma'am it seems no one is here to let us in"he relayed
Calida sighed"someone should be here maybe i should give willow a call"calida stated as she reached for her scroll. Then she began to make the call since willow gave her number to her back in argus.
But soon enough after ringing the gate soon opened as they looked to see someone their. Standing their infront of them was a horse faunus looking around frantically.
"Are you the hayley family?"carmen qeustioned as calida looked at her.
"We are, did willow tell you we were coming?"calida asked as the girl nodded
"She expected you to come by before you left for argus. Come on in"carmen said as she joined them inside the car. Then it ebgan to pull up toward the manor. While it did eria noticed the girl looking nervous right now.
"Are you okay?"eria asked reaching forward as carmen flinched a little.
"I'm fine…just..just i'll take you to willow"carmen replied to the two wondering if jacque abuses his staff as well. Soon enough the car pulled up to the house which only took a few minutes. But waiting for them already was klein as the three exited with the two suitcases in tow.
"Ah its a pleasant surprise to see you here"he greeted
"It is, though where is willow"calida said getting straight to the point as klein nodded
"She inside meeting with someone with her kids"carmen answered
"Okay, umm could you take us too them please?"eria asked as the butler nodded bringing them inside. It might be winter or someone else entirely.
The two where quickly led through the grand halls of the schnee manor. As they walked through eria was in awe of the place a little. It was grand like something you see from a storybook. But she noticed how dreadful the atmosphere was. As they continued to walk for a while soon enough the butler broought them to a door.
Klein reached for the door hesitating to open it as he sighed heavily.
"Please do not start a schne, the general is meeting with that devil"kelin said i nager as his eyes changed to red then back to normal.
"Yeah though um…apperenlty you um know the person inside"carmen said to eria who was surprised.
"What do you mean by that?"eria questioned wondering if it was maybe that henry marigold guy, zephyra or maybe someone else she knew. But with ironwood here he might be here because of the event from the charity early.
"I'll be calm i wanna see if her kids are alright"calida replied as klein nodded opening the door. They stepped isndie the room to be met by some people.
Once inside they were in a grandbedroom is seems. Their was a queen size bed in the room along with a standing mirror and dresser to apply makeup. Though in the corner of the room sat a piano in the corner that was blue and grey color.
Immedialty in the room eria noticed weiss on the bed. She was turned around with her back to them. Whitley and willow had medical equipment on the bed. They had gloves on while whitley had a cloth in hand with disinfectant on it obviously. Willow had some medical pads in hand. But eria and calida looked in horror at weiss back.
Their were several deep cuts that looked very fresh and recent it seems. But eria could see older ones that looked years old. Weiss went wide eyed seeing them here.
"What are you doing here?"weiss questioned as eria was walking over
"Weiss..what…who did this?"she asked with shock.
Weiss immeidlty tried to cover her punishment up"umm its nothing…i just fell down and scratch–"weiss started but willow stopped her.
"Your wrong sweetie, don't try hiding it. I'm so sorry…i'm sorry"willow cried as she was fighting the tears but they slowly escaped
Whitley rubbed weiss back down but she didn't even react. Then willow placed another medical pad down. They were already close to being done before they came in. but as weiss brought her jacket down. She was met by eria jumping onto her bed holding weiss in an embrace.
This surprised her but she just buried her face into eria shoulder crying her eyes out. She let it happened as she was shocked how old those scars looked.
"Do..do they hurt?"eria asked heisantly
Weiss choked a sob"no..my back…its practical numb after so many times"she sadly answered with her voice sounding horse from crying and screaming.
"I'm sorry…maybe i should have taken the other half of the punishment"whitley asked
Calida glared in anger"what did that bastard to her?"calida demnded to know
Willow was mortified right now as she had tears coming down her cheek. She hated herself right now not doing this sooner. Whitley just hugged his mother trying to reassure her everything will be fine
"He…he gave her thirty lashes with a whip"willow answered choking back a small sob.
Eria went wide eyed hugging weiss even tigher"why didn't you tell us at beacon…a parent shouldn't do that"eria cried softly because it was heart breaking seeing this.
"I was…i didn't want him to hurt my family…i was scared…i'm sorry"weiss replied as the two ice queens tried comforting each other.
Though the dance instructor eyes twitched in anger right now, she looked around and noticed a framed pciture of jacque. It had scribbling on it as it was proably from willow. She grabbed it and then used her smeblance to burn melt it as it quickly turned to ash.
Klein quickly grabbed a small device that produced a small dust pan and brush. Then he swept it up quickly walking to the window dumping it out dusting his hands off.
"One less evil in this house"klein stated firmly.
"You can say that again old man"a familiar female voice said in the corner. Eria looked over relziing someone was in the corner of the room. Their stood someone she hasn't see since vale. Lazuli was in the corner in a full bodysuit with wren playing with rad as he distracted the young schnee.
"Lazuli?"eria asked surprised seeing her here as calida looked confused
"Who the heck is she?"the women asked
Lazuli rolled her eyes"here a guess i'm related to someone on your daughter team more like a clown"she answered as calida knew who she meant.
"Your my little girls leader family member aren't you"she asked as lazuli nodded as she walked over toward the bed. Eria looked at her before hugging the girl to her surprise. But she practically felt her up since she was in a bodie suit.
"Your actually alive…i thought you died?"she asked
Lazuli chuckled"eh well the infamous thief known as swan can't die so easily"lazuli replied as eria was caught off guard by this.
"Did you just say that thief going around that was roman torchwich bodyguard. She's a common crook"calida stated as eria looked at lazuli. She separated from her and then placed a mask on her face. The two hayley were surprised seeing an infamous thief in front of them waving.
"That doesn't make sense…but…but wouldn't that make you, neo and vance criminals?"eria questioned
"Umm not exactly"weiss corrected as eria was surprised she was calm about thai. Actually how all the people in this room was very calm with an infamous thief in the room with them. Calida was very confused at what was happening right now.
Though wren noticed weiss standing up as he stopped playing before rushing over hugging her. Weiss was a little surprised by this but just returned it.
"I'm sorry weissy"Wren apolgized as he hugged her.
"Don't be…an older sister should protect their siblings..no matter what"weiss replied with her voice sounding sore still.
Lazuli visible backed up as she pulled her necklace up staring at it sighing holding it close to her chest. She wondered if her siblings will forgive her for what she been doing. But she still needs to find neo whever she is.
"I'm confused is your leader family part of a crime network or something?"calida asked as lauzli glared at her.
"Hey auntie family isn't involved in this stuff for your information. My dad roman did the best he could raising us. All he knew how to do was get dirty to get the money we needed to have a happy life. Don't associated my cousin like those people are to those dam knights"lazuli spat jabbing a finger in calida chest.
Though calida sighed placing her hand on lazuli shoulder"i'm sorry…look lets just all calm down. Also i'm sorry for your lose if that means anything"She said as lazuli was shocked by this. But just gently nodded backing up.
Though eria looked over at wren seeing a very large red mark on his face. Which meant jacque also hitting his youngest son as she clneched her fist.
"Okay first off…why are you even here and did he hit him?"eria asked pointing to wren as whitley was holding him close sighing.
Carmen rubbed her arm"yeah early before we left, wren bumped into him then he smacked him across the face. Willow stayed behind to take care of him"she answered as willow looked down sighing.
"Despite that she here to get one of my kids away from jacque"willow said as she got up walking over to a suitcase and a weaponcase holding weiss signature weapon. Then she walked over handing them to weiss who looked down.
"But wouldn't jacque be mad his one of the heirs went missing?"calida asked
"Umm wiess and whitley aren't heirs to our company anymore"willow annouced which shocked the two hayley women.
"What? When did this happened?'eria questioned shocked that happen
Though calida wondered if those two status were removed. That would mean the next in line for the company throne would be wren.
"He removed them after what happened at the charity event, didn't he?"she asked as weiss gently nodded as she still had some tears on her face.
"Yes along with that were forbidden from leaving the manor grounds. He also wokring on gaining full custody of us"weiss answered.
"Okay but were on the clock the general and jacque meeting should be done soon"carmen advisred with haste
Though something reminded eria why exactly she needed to tell weiss something. Though she decided to take this moment to tell some good news to the ice queen. Mainly concerning her cat faunus teammates along with where lazuli little sister with dual colored hair.
"Though before that umm i got good news actually"eria said as they were confused because weiss was near the door. While lazuli was too alongside willow and carmen. Whitley and wren were planning on hididng out in here with klein and rad.
"Umm miss we need to hurry we don't have time for this"Rad stated
"Yes, look can't this wait i wanna get my little girl out of here. The only reason i'm doing this is to send weiss away right now. Along with that she wants to go check on her teammates to see if their in mistral"willow added
"Yes, i'm guessing ruby and yang continued their studies their"weiss added as eria smiled at that.
"So you wound't wanna hear about where blake, onxyia and neo are then?"eria smugly asked as weiss went wide eyed by that. Along with lazuli who used her semblance sprinting over grabbing the girl by the shoulder shaking her.
"You know where my little sister is? Tell me now? Is she safe?"lazuli begged it seems asking several questions as eria felt very dizzy.
"Uh stop shaking her so much she might puke"carmen warned as lazuli did that as eria wobbled a little. But caught herself shaking the dizziness off. Then she looked at weiss who was waiting in antiicpatation.
Eria smiled"appernelty blake survied the event from the fall and got a new prosthetic arm. Then they boarded a ferry to menagerie to probably check on their families. Neo and onxyia went with them as well. Their alive"she proudly said as weiss started to smile a little.
Then she set her suitcase down rushing over hugging her"thank you, thank you"she said several times with tears of joy this time.
Eria returned it"i wanted to give you some good news, i owe my fellow ice queen"she coldy said as weiss chuckled slightly.
"Funny though, are you sure you don't wanna come whitley. You both can come"weiss offered again it seems as whitley shook his head.
"I'll stay behind to make sure wren alright, i'm guessing jacque will send me off to a medical school maybe. But i'll keep an eye on wren till then"whitley stted with a smile.
"Same here, might as well return the favor the kindness willow shown me"carmen added as her tail flicked a little.
Rad nerovusly cleared his throat"i as well will help…though ma'am what about the evidence"he asked to calida shock. Then she looked at willow who sadly looked down as she assumed what she gathered. Evidence agaisnt jacque abuse it seems.
"Wait you have evidence of what he's done to your children?"calida asked willow who nodded but looked down because their was alot more thant just that.
"Yes and…apperently jacque is starting his salve trade again. A man by the name of reo came by to our house. I hired her to stop it but she was too late. All she figured out that they were some soldiers from an outfit called the crimson talon"willow answered as eria gasped a little at that.
"Umm what do you know these guys or something?"carmen questioned
"Did you have a run in with these merc before miss. Because from what i herd their just killers for hire, slavers, sounrels and.."before kelin could even finish eria said something ver troubling.
"Their also the private army of arthur watts, the creator of the knights of grimm"eria said as this immedialty shocked everyone. All except for weiss and lazuli who knew about them being employed under the man. While willow just clenched her fist in rage as she quivered standing.
"That…that bastard he sold those poor people, for what? To be used as offering to those dam knights?"she questioned
"Probably to experiment on them with the use of grimm"eria replied sadly.
"Sweeite aren't those the people you said you ran into during your expedition. The same men who were after that little girl if i recall"calida asked mentioning piper as eria nodded at that.
"Okay look i'll take the evidence for you and drop it off to atlas or whatever. After that i'll ask some contacts my dad knew about seeing if ice queen teammates are in mistral or vale maybe"lazuli said as they were now in the hall. Eria and calida followed along with carmen and weiss.
Though the snow dancer had a thought cross her mind as she said that. If lazuli has contacts that means she could help her find rogue. But another thought crossed her mind she could also be at haven right now. No one seen her in atlas it seems, if she in vacou her father could find her. While in vale that may be possible but just left mistral their home continent.
"Wait could i come?"eria asked as they were slightly walking down the hall. Weiss looked at her puzzled at what she asked along with lazuli.
"Why do you wanna come?"carmen asked
"Yes dear, that wouldn't make sense your sister already missing. I can't lose you too"calida sadly said but eria grabbed her mother hands with a reassuring smile.
"That exactly why i'm going, think about if dad in vacou, those detectives haven't found her here. Which leaves vale and mistral, i already asked thisite to look out for her their. But if lazuli has connections maybe they could look for her in vale while i search in mistral"eria stated as calida relzied what she meant looking at lazuli.
"Could you…actually do that?"calida asked the theif who looked at her nodding.
"I can, i can bring you along to take her to mistral. Then we head to an info broker i know to find your sister"lazuli started as she walked over pulling eria into an embrace. Though she was pulled into her bust as it was engulfed by latex as she gave no emotion.
"I owe you for telling me where neo is, you were on Z team i owe him that much. Also my price is now at fifty thousands by the way"lazuli said to willow as she let eria go. But the hayley were shocked by the large few she was charing her.
"That much to take her to mistral?"calida said shocked she'd charged that much.
"She is taking my daughter in some fake kidnapping, also she is trustworthy in my opinion. But its fine, all of its jacque money we may be divorced. I still have access to banking accounts for business transaction"she replied as calida smiled at that because he could lose some money.
