This is a "What-If" Movie Version of my story Pokémon World League. It is simply Mewtwo Strikes Back with my OC added and a little more dialog where the movie cuts for edits. If you enjoy, let me know! If not, sorry I guess?

I sat on the wooden bench of the Kanto ferry waiting. It had only been 12 hours since I'd received this strange invitation to New Island, "You've been chosen to join a group of Pokémon trainers at a gathering. It will be hosted by my master, the world's greatest Pokémon trainer at his palace on New Island. A ferry will leave Old Shore Wharf to take you to the island

this afternoon. Only trainers with this invitation will be admitted. If you decide to attend, you must reply at once. My master awaits you." was all it said. I had never even heard of this "World's Greatest Pokémon Trainer," and I had been Pokémon World League Champion for three years. "If he's so powerful, why hasn't he competed?" I asked myself as I watched the waves crash. I thought I had faced all the best trainers the world had to offer by this point, but if this guy thought he was better than me, I had some bad news for him.

The ferry arrived at the wharf about half past 5. As I entered, I heard a familiar voice ringing throughout the building. "Please do not cut in line! It may not be illegal but it's still rude!" Officer Jenny yelled to the young trainers waiting to make their way to The Orange Islands and other regions away from Kanto. I smiled as I hadn't seen Jenny since her cousin's graduation party 10 years earlier. As I approached, she clearly remembered me. "Well, the World Champion graces me with his presence," she said extending a hand. "Don't get a big head. You only wish I came to see you," I said jokingly as I shook it. "I'm guessing you're going to New Island too?" She asked. "How did you know that?" I asked visibly confused. "See that group waiting over there?" She asked as she pointed over her shoulder to a group of trainers all ranging from 10 to about 16. "They're all going too. Some Pokémon master wants to meet all of them. I'm not surprised he'd want to meet you though," She said with a smile. "Why would this guy want so many trainers to come to New Island?" I asked even more confused. "I don't know, maybe it's an ego thing," Jenny shrugged. "Hey! You three! Stop right there!" She yelled at two teenagers and a Meowth trying to steal food from a stand. "I'll be right back!" She said before running off to chase them. "Good luck Jenny!" I called out with a laugh. "Officer Jenny!" She yelled back as she ran out the door.

I walked around the wharf for a little bit seeing what it had to offer. It wasn't much, just a few food stalls, a ticket counter, and a pier leading out into the sea. It took me a while to take in these few sights however, the longer I stayed, the more trainers became aware that the World Champion was among them. I must have shaken a couple dozen hands and doled out more advice than I had in years. After nearly an hour I finally made my way to the Pokémon Center within the wharf. My Pokémon hadn't been out of their Pokéballs since I left Tangore Island 7 hours ago, so a good R&R was in order. To my surprise, however, the Pokémon Center was closed. "What the heck?" I asked as I looked through the glass to see if Joy or maybe Chansey was on duty, but no luck. A few seconds later, Jenny came running up, clearly out of breath. "Those rotten Team Rocket grunts! Think they can steal from my wharf!" She said visibly angry and panting. "Oh they're just a couple of dumb kids, don't let them ruffle your feathers," I said. Jenny just shot me a look that could kill. "Hey Jenny, where's Joy?" I asked looking back at the closed Pokémon Center. "Officer Jenny!" she emphasized. "And I'm not sure," She said also looking at the center. "She's been gone over a month now, no one has seen or heard from her since," She said worriedly. "A month!" I said astounded. "Why on earth hasn't someone filed a missing persons report or something!" I said. "No one reported her officially missing. Just because you leave with no notice doesn't mean you're officially missing, per se. There has to be evidence of foul play or something like that. For all we know, she just decided to move back to Johto with no explanation. Until someone in her family or personal life officially files the report, our hands are tied," Jenny said. All I could do was shake my head. "I mean, I get it but dang. I'd hope someone would be asking about me after a month," I said.

As the clock ticked closer to 7 pm, the weather began to grow worse and worse. I had never seen such a storm develop with such intensity at such a rapid pace, even one close to the coast. Around 6:30 pm the storm had grown to nearly unbelievable proportions. The wind alone had to be over 150 mph, the rain was close to if not already at hurricane levels, and the waves had topped 90 ft 30 minutes previous. As the storm grew more and more fierce, so did the number of trainers arriving at the wharf to head to New Island. Easily over 100 kids and young adults were all anxiously waiting to board the ferry and they were beginning to grow impatient, as were their Pokémon. "Chill out, Raticate!" a trainer yelled as it stared down a nearby Kingler. "Kingler! Save your energy!" the other trainer said to his Pokémon. I thought for a moment I'd have to step in, as the champion I was also the head of the Pokémon League and could sight trainers and dole out disciplinary actions on sight, but thankfully a call over the intercom for Jenny settled them down.

A few minutes later, I heard three new voices as the doors to the wharf opened. "Togepi's totally soaked!" a familiar red-headed girl said as she dried the baby Pokémon in her arms. "I can't believe how fast the storm came up!" said a young man who also looked familiar. " Let's just find someplace to dry off," said a young boy with an official Pokémon League Expo hat and a Pikachu on his head. The three made their way closer to me when suddenly, I heard the young man speak up again. "Hey, Ash, isn't that-" He said unsure. "I think it is," I heard the girl say as I sipped a cup of coffee and smiled. "Hmm. I'm gonna check. I'd love to meet a real champion," the kid said as he approached. "Excuse me, I'm sorry to bother you but are you-" He started to ask as I turned to fully face him. When he saw my face, he lit up like a candle. "You are Nikki, the Pokémon World League Champion! I'm Ash Ketchem!" He said excitedly as he extended his hand. "Nikki Grey, nice to meet you two," I said as I shook his hand. "These are my friends, Brock and Misty," He said as the young man and girl approached as well. As I shook their hands, I finally realized why they looked so familiar.

"Aren't you two the Gym Leaders in Pewter and Cerulean Cities?" I asked curiously. "Well, we both used to be Gym Leaders, but we left them in good hands to fulfill our dreams," Brock said proudly. "Yeah, Brock's gonna be the world's greatest Pokémon Breeder and I'm gonna be the world's greatest Water Pokémon trainer," Misty said equally as proud. "And what about you, Ash? What's your dream?" I asked. "Me? I'm gonna be the world's greatest Pokémon Master!" He said boisterously. "Well, you've gotta get more than 6 badges before you can get there, Ash," Misty said deflating his ego. I laughed a little at their comradery as it reminded me of how my friends Dane and Alex used to before we all got so busy with official League business. "Well, I believe if you want something bad enough, you'll move mountains to get it if you have to," I said encouragingly. Ash seemed to take it to heart as his smile returned and his eyes gleamed as only a young trainer with the world in front of him could. We talked for maybe 15 minutes when I felt a tap on my shoulder.

"Nikki, can I talk to you in private for a moment?" Jenny asked. I could tell from the look on her face, something was wrong. "Uh, yeah, sure," I said. "Excuse me guys, we'll have to continue this conversation later," I said shaking their hands again, then following Jenny to the Harbor Manager's office. "Nikki, this is the Harbor Manager. She has an announcement she needs to make and she needs your help," She said, giving the floor to the Harbor Manager. "This storm is unlike any we've ever encountered before. It is already at record levels and it's still growing. We're going to have to cancel the ferry to New Island," She said regretfully. "I understand. That storm is getting crazy, but what do you need me for?" I asked confused. "When we announce the Ferry's cancelation, the trainers will be upset, maybe even disgruntled. We... We were thinking that maybe they'd take the news better if it came from their champion," She finished. I thought about it for a moment, then realized she was right. If I wasn't going to New Island, maybe they'd take solace in that. "Alright, I'll do it, but I need you there to explain why. I don't know the ins and outs of the wharf and dock and whatnot so an explanation might go a long way," I said with a sigh. "I agree, it's only fair," Jenny said as she looked out at the trainers growing ever more anxious and frustrated. "I fear this may be more than a normal storm..." The Manager said eerily as we made our way to the front of the crowd near the wharf doors.
