(Three days later)
After training, Dimitri led Rose back to the boundaries of the campus. The Academy owned a lot of land, not all of which was actively used for educational purposes. They were in a remote part of Montana, and it appeared the school was just barely holding back the wilderness. Rose began to feel nauseous, which was a warning. "Comrade! Strigoi, Rosa exclaimed. Dimitri was aware of Rose's nausea. It was because her shadow-kiss had an effect on the strigoi in the vicinity. We spotted two strigoi at the same time coming from the tree line and heading for us. Rose could see that the strigoi's face was pale and that his eyes were bright red. The strigois swooped down on us, and I had the impression that they looked like they were flying, as vampire tales claimed. Dimitri, on the other hand, was nearly as swift and strong.
Dimitri was holding his stake, waiting for the Strigoi to attack. Rose pushed behind Dimitri to guard her from them. The Strigoi, I believe, had hoped for some element of surprise. They struggled and appeared to be frozen in time for a moment, neither gaining momentum on the other. The stake was then plunged into the Strigoi's heart by Dimitri's snake-like hand. The Strigoi's corpse slumped to the ground as the crimson eyes opened in amazement.
Rose was attacked while Dimitri was fighting a male strigoi. Rose takes a step back and defends herself against the male attacks. Rose inserted her silver stake into the strigoi heart before Dimitri could take a step forward to help her. Rose pulled out strigoi heart and letting male strigoi body hit ground.
Dimitri said, "Roza. Pay attention to what I'm saying. I need you to run and inform the other guardians. Rose gave a nod to Dimitri. Dimitri then experienced a Jasmine-like sense of fury and anger. Soon after, there was a huge thunderclap. Recognizing that strigoi had probably already arrived at the academy and were combating Jasmine.
Rose spins around and dashes off to the academy, while Dimitri swings back to deal with additional strigoi on their way to the academy, which Rose assumes were pursuing her feet into the ground with such force that nothing could stop her. When we first started training together, Dimitri used to make us run laps every day. When we first started training together, Rose had complained, while Jazz stayed quiet. Rose thought Dimitri had repeatedly insisted that it was necessary. He had stated that it would make us stronger. And, he continued, there might come a time when Jasmine and I won't be able to fight and will have to flee.
Rose was hidden by the darkness, but Strigoi could see through it better than she could. She lurked behind trees, gazing in every direction possible, wishing I had eyes in the back of her skull. Nothing, a few more screams in the distance. Rose realized then that I didn't have that nauseous feeling from earlier. I realized then that I wasn't feeling nauseated like I had previously. That sensation seemed to indicate the presence of nearby Strigoi. She didn't trust it enough to walk blindly, but knowing it had some kind of early warning system was their un-dead state.
Rose noticed someone was moving behind a tree about halfway to the chapel. Rose had her stake in hand, whirled around and nearly struck Christian in the heart. "Christian, what are you doing out here?" Rose exclaimed. What the hell is going on? "I'm trying to get to the tower and find Jazz." Rose stated, "There are strigoi on campus. Christian said, "They came here to catch Jasmine and take her to Raul." There must have been somebody collaborating with the strigoi to break the ward, "Christian speculated.
Rose sensed a wave of nausea washing over her. Rose cried, "Get down!" He sank to the ground without had two Strigoi on, both closing in on me, knowing that I'd be an easy target for their combined might, and that Christian would be next. Rose was smashed into a tree by one of them. The female strigoi said, "We have to make sure that we get the right twin or that Raul gets mad at us. Rose started feeling Jasmine sense of fury and anger running threw her body to know they come to get her sister for Raul.
For a fraction of a second, my eyes clouded, but I quickly recovered. I shoved back, and it felt good to watch her stagger a little. The other, a male, sprang for me, but I swerved away, sliding from his clutches. Both were taller than I was, although the woman was a little shorter than the man. I faked them out as I approached him, then dashed for her as quickly as I could. My stake went straight through her heart and began second staking a strigoi. I'd barely pulled the stake out when the other Strigoi backhanded me, snarling. I staggered but kept my balance as I sized him up. Seeing that he was bigger and stronger than Rose was.
We started to circle each other. Rose leapt out and kicked him. He barely budged. He reached for me, and I again managed to dodge as I scanned for some opening to stake him. My narrow escape didn't slow him down, though, and he immediately attacked again. However, my brief escape did not slow him down, and he attacked again right afterwards. He pinned my arms and knocked me to the ground. I tried to push him off, but he didn't move. Saliva dripped from his fangs as he leaned his face down toward mine. Rose thought she was going to die again from the draining of her blood and then Christian's. Rose started to feel the fangs against her neck. Rose keeps trying to fight back. When the Strigoi above me suddenly lit up like a torch, He jerked back, and I rolled out from underneath him.
His body was entirely engulfed in thick flames, hiding any of his features. He was merely a bonfire in the shape of a man. Before he went silent, I heard a few strangled screams. He twitched and rolled on the ground before finally coming to a halt. Smoke emerged from the spot where the fire had ignited the grass, and the flames quickly died away, leaving nothing but ashes beneath. Christian stood there with his hands on fire and a lifeless expression on his face. Rose raised her eyes from the ashes. Christian responds, "We need to find Jasmine now." Rose rose to her feet and said, "I can feel Jasmine sense of fury and anger running through my body." Christian said, "Use it!"
Christian and Rose took off at a brisk pace, hoping to avoid colliding with more Strigoi. I had no idea how many people we were dealing with, and it was driving me insane. I started to feel strange sickness as we got closer to the other campus. Just before a Strigoi seized a Christian, I screamed out a warning. Christian, on the other hand, moved quickly. The head of the Strigoi was engulfed in flames. He shouted and let go of Christian, desperately attempting to extinguish the flames. The Strigoi had no idea I was coming at them with the entire process took less than a minute while in the coredoor of the academy. Christian and I exchanged glances, knowing Jasmine's idea was right: if Moroi and the guardians worked together, it would help fight back against the strigoi.
While Christian and Rose rounded the corner, Jasmine was fighting four strigoi on her own, and her magic abilities were helping her fight back against the strigoi. Other guardians, unbeknownst to Rose and Christian, were moving to assist when they saw Jasmine fighting with her magic abilities.
Alberta, Emil and Celeste continue their efforts to assist Jasmine in her battle against the strigoi. Emil's face was surprised to learn that one of the old students had the power of a Moroi in the body of Dhampier. He didn't let that stop him from staking another Strigoi. While Celeste had always known that Jasmine was different from the other dhampiers, she couldn't quite put her finger on it. Alberta was well aware that other guardians would inquire as to what was going on. She'd have to respond to them.
All of the guardians were taken aback when they saw Jasmine's arms full of flames from her shoulder to her finger tips. Jasmine was using flames as a weapon to fight the strigoi. Alberta, Emil, and Celeste could feel the heat from the Jasmine flames, and the air surrounding them helped to feed the flames, which were accompanied by a loud, booming thunder. They spin around to help Jasmine to see her shoving her silver stake in large male strigoi heart and letting his body hit the ground at her feet.
As the flames kept flickering into the night sky and the sender's danced in the wind, which made it look like a fireflies was around was hardly unaware of it; she was merely standing in the middle of the academy with her magical abilities for everyone to view. Jasmine's heart was beating like a drum as she continued to inhale deeply. Alberta shifts her attention to Jasmine, seeing that Jasmine was breathing hard, blood lust was still up, and finding that Jasmine's eyes were bright gold instead of her normal light brown. Alberta said, "Jasmine, Slowly down your breathing and take control." Jasmine shift her eyes over on Alberta face. Jasmine breathing slowed down. The flames started moving from her shoulders, down her arms to her hands before disappearing all together.
Dimitri came running into the middle of the academy to discover all the guardians gathered around Jasmine, staring at her. When Guardian Lionel screamed, "Hale to the elements and our future queen!" Christian, Rose, Alberta, Emil, and Celeste join in cheering. As the building's doors began to open, the Moroi began exiting the building. When they noticed, all the guardians started getting down on one knee, bowing their heads and saying, "To the element and our future queen, a salute."
Vasilissa remarked, "Hale to the element and our future queen, a salute. She began bowing to Jasmine. Dimitri was surprise to everyone bowing to Jasmine. Dimitri said, "Hale to the element and our future queen, a salute as began bow to Jasmine.
Jasmine said, "Rise guardians."
Captain Alberta rise to her feet and began throwing out orders to the other guardians. Alberta was informing Emil and Celeste to get the guardian building ready for a meeting within hours. Rose, Vasilissa, Alexander and Christian walked, and stood beside Jasmine. Christian reached out and wrapped his arms around Jasmine's waist, squeezing her against his chest. Jasmine pressed her ear to his chest, closed her eyes, and listened to his heartbeat. When Dimitri looked over Jasmine was standing to find Christian holding Jasmine in his arms. Dimitri didn't like it to see Christian getting hands with his woman in front of him.
Dimitri started moving forward to take Jasmine from Christian arms. When Guardian Lionel stepped in front of Dimitri to block his way. Guardian Lionel said, "Guardian Belikov, I need to speak to you about something very important." Dimitri asked, "How did you discover that Jasmine is an element? Guardian Lionel reached down, pulled up his sleeve to show the same mark as Dimitri had and said, "Please understand, as a piece-keeper, I have watched over Jasmine for years. Every time Jasmine was around me, the mark would react to her. I always knew that Jasmine was truly special. However, I discover that jasmine is a rare element. So that means war is coming and Raul will not stop until he find her. Dimitri step up to Guardian Lionel and said, "As her keeper I must keep her safe at all cast."
