To Void Reader: What do you mean by trinity? There are three encompassing forces, but I do not understand where you are going with this trinity that you speak up. The ending of Sonic 06 will not be the ending of this story. If you are curious as to how this story ends, then keep reading. But if you know that the ending that you are hoping for will not happen, then please find something else to read. I will tell my story how I intend to tell it, regardless if people like it or not. Thank you.
To debehi: An interesting comparison and analysis. Still, I wouldn't even give Bubsy the time of day, let alone compare him to Sonic. Here, I don't intend for Sonic to see himself as a hero. If you were to ask RESURGENCE Sonic how he sees himself, he'd classify himself as an adventurer who likes to help people out whenever he feels like it and not because he is expected to or just because its the right thing to do. To call himself a hero wouldn't be his style and contradict how he was raised to be humble.
What must be done… …The servers are the seven Chaos.
Chaos is power. A power enriched by the heart.
The controller is the one who unifies the Chaos.
…Feel within… The sea of Chaos… And the ancient waves.
May the light of its power shine down eternally and protect us all.
Green Hill, South Island
A Warp Ring appeared in front of a bridge in a vibrant environment. The topography varies from having a plateau-like terrain, with short mountains; to being a mountainous area with massive mountains, sloping cliffs, giant peaks, and tight paths high up in the sky supported by natural pillars. The location was filled with large waterfall vistas, palm trees, and tropical flora of various types. Perhaps most distinctively, the soil is checkered brown, and most of the local plant life appeared to have unfamiliar geometric appearances to it.
Coming out of the Warp Ring portal happened to be none other than Princess Sally, Antoine, Bunnie, Rotor, Tails, and Sonic himself. Once everybody stepped out of the portal, the ring shrunk back down to its original size, allowing Sonic to reattach it to his necklace.
"Here we are!" Tails announced, with his arms stretched out diagonally.
The Knothole Freedom Fighters took a moment to bask at the majestic view that was Green Hill.
"...Woah!" Rotor gasped. "This place gives far out a whole new meaning!"
"Antoine, look! Ain't this waterfall here just gorgeous?" Bunnie said, tugging at her boyfriend's sleeve and pointed to the nearest waterfall that was several miles away from them.
"...Oui," Antoine agreed before kissing the back of Bunnie's organic hand. "Though, ze waterfall pales in comparison to your beauty, my love~."
Bunnie giggled at this, patting the Mobian coyote's cheek loving.
Walking over to the edge of the plateau where a palm tree had one of the ropes that held the bridge together, Sally marveled at the lovely canyons and grassy terrain of Green Hill.
"The air here is serene and clear, and yet the terrain feels foreign and plant life looks different compared to Acornia." The princess spoke to herself.
Sonic walked up to Sally, saying, "Welcome to Green Hill, the natural treasure of South Island. Whatcha think, hm?"
"It looks so vibrant and lively, yet the atmosphere feels peaceful. It reminds me a lot of Knothole back in the Great Forest." Sally said with whimsy before looking at him. "Do you know where we are?"
While gazing into the distance, Sonic grinned as he answered, "Ah, this path is a shortcut to mine and Tails place. It's about a half a mile from here. I figured we can drop by the house and search for the Chaos Emerald from there."
Sally nodded this, saying, "That sounds like a plan. You and Tails lead the way."
Hearing this, Tails and Sonic took charge and led the Knothole Freedom Fighters through the shorter path.
During this time, Tails started a four way conversation with the older members while Sonic and Sally remained ahead to have their own.
"You know," Rotor said while looking at Tails. "As much as I'd like to turn Robotnik into a can opener, his work is as brilliant as he is nasty. Even without the Ixis Magick enhancement, he managed to push Sonic to take him far more seriously."
"You can say that again," Tails concurred, thinking back to the doctor's last fight against the fast-moving adventurer. "But then again, it is Eggman that we're talking about. Thinking back to some of our battles, I've wondered if some of his robots were invincible. Of course, with our teamwork, we've managed to pull through in the end."
"That iz good to hear." Antoine said. "Ahs soldiers, we too, had difficulties overcoming ze bahttles of our enemies. Had it not been for our leader's strahtegies, our resources, ahnd ze aid of our elders, we would have lost ze war long ago."
"I've been meaning to ask about that," Tails questioned. "Could you tell me a little more about your past battles? N-Not that I mean to bring up any horrible memories, but I've only read vague short articles about your deeds in freeing nations! It's really inspiring."
Bunnie patted Tails on the back, saying, "Relax, Sugar. Ain't no need tuh get your tails in uh twist overthinkin'. It's not uh problem. Back when Ah wuz gettin' use tuh mah new limbs, that no good wizard dun summoned uh giant Phantom frum thuh depths tuh destroy thuh Great Forest by pollutin' it by just bein' around. It went tuh cuttin' down thuh trees an' sappin' thuh life out uh livin' things. Uncle Beau, Rotor, Charlie, an' General Armand tried blowin' it up sky high, but it wuz too mighty tuh bay damaged by explosives and guns. So, Ah took uh gamble an' tried out thuh new extra features Rotor an' Charlie suited mah limbs, which gave mah trademark super Mobian strength. With uh few coordinated attacks under Sally-girl's supervision, that Phantom wuz history!"
"Before ze final battle for Acornia een ze ruins of Old Mobotropolis, Naugus staged a hostile takeovair of ze Felidae people een ze Pandoran Highlands. I served as a fightair pilot while flying ze Freedom Stormer, warding off as many tahrgets as possible with ahn aerial assault. Zat, and ze team doing zeir own parts resulted in us claiming victory in ze battle." Antoine added, recounting his own part of a battle.
"Wow, you guys sound awesome!" Tails compliment with stars in his eyes before asking a question. "Oh, that reminds me. I see why you've been struggling against a tricky foe like Naugus. What was your prominent method in handling Naugus and his Ixis Magick?"
Bunnie and Antoine turned to Rotor, who answered by explaining, "...Ixis Magick is tricky, to say the least. Despite Sally and NICOLE's ever-expanding file on it, there is plenty of mystery shrouding it. When it comes to its illusions, physical augmentations, and other miscellaneous abilities, we had to take different approaches to how we'd conduct missions. As far as combat is concerned, we haven't exactly changed the strategy. Sir Charles and I use the Artificial Power Rings to forge specialized weapons and tools designed to counter and outmatch the Phantom Army that Naugus summons."
"Hm…" Tails pondered, placing his hand under his chin. "...That seems to make sense. Sonic tends to get a temporary power increase whenever he grabs a Natural Power Ring. I can't help but find it so strange that I'd never thought to build something out of their material. I mean, duh! I've made those Dummy Ring Bombs, so it shouldn't be too hard to liquify an actual thing."
This newly found information hit Rotor upside his head, leaving him dumbfounded.
Adjusting his glasses, the Mobian walrus asked, "Wait just a second! You mean to tell me that you've designed a perfect counterfeit Power Ring that is also a condensed detonation device? Why didn't I think of that sooner?"
Rubbing his head sheepishly, Tails smiled, saying, "I guess we were both too preoccupied at the time to give those ideas some thought."
"True," Rotor grinned back.
Bunnie and Antoine chuckled amongst themselves with the cowgirl hat wearing Mobian thinking, 'Thay're two peas in uh pod.'
In front of the four, Sonic checked up on Sally, asking, "You hangin' in there okay, Sally?"
"...Fine, I suppose," Sally sighed, keeping her hands behind her with a bittersweet expression. "It's a shame to be in such a woeful state while visiting a lovely place. I guess I still have a lot on my mind."
Sonic nodded to her, then looked forward with a smile.
"What's somethin' that you like to do for fun, Red?" Sonic said, changing the subject for her sake. "You know, when you have the luxury."
Sally's face slightly perked up with a bit of a curious expression. She tilted her head to the side, giving Sonic a small subtle and coy smile.
"Oh? What's with the sudden interest in my hobbies, Blue?" Asked the princess.
The Mobian hedgehog shrugged casually.
"Eh. Gotta pass the time somehow."
"That's fair," Sally admitted as she answered. "When I'm not updating files with NICOLE or going to meetings, I tend to spend my free time reading rare novels. Even began a small collection of sorts during the restoration of my kingdom."
"A collection, huh? Well, I know I don't seem like the type but I'm quite the avid book reader, myself." Sonic revealed.
"You don't say?" Sally inquired, raising an eyebrow. "Then riddle me this, what is your favorite genre of storytelling?"
"Don't know…" Sonic said, thinking aloud while stroking his chin with his left gloved hand. "I like all kinds of genres. Action, adventure, coming of age. I guess I'd read just about anything. However, if my life was on the line and I'd have to pick, I say that fantasy is my go-to genre."
"Ah! Fantasy stories are my favorites, too!" Sally expressed excitedly. "I like fantasy settings that tell stories involving romance, drama, action, adventure, and 's why myths, legends, and especially fairytales are so captivating."
"Oh yeah? Got any recommendations?" Sonic questioned, placing his arms on the back of his head.
"My mother kept two ancient books from the old world that were considered ancient by their time. I was able to take a look for myself once I was of age to handle some of the graphic details. One about a fierce war, the Iliad, and another about a soldier's journey in the sea to return home, the Odyssey." Explained Sally. "I can make copies for you to read, if you like?"
"Of course!" Sonic said, giving Sally a thumbs up with his right hand.
"What are you reading, now?" Sally asked with curiosity.
Snapping his fingers with his right hand, Sonic remembered, "You know, I haven't been readin' anythin' lately, but I've been meanin' to take a look at this super old book that I got from a pawn shop that was an import from Shamar. The former owner said that it's a collection of stories. I think its called the Arabian Nights, or somethin' like that."
"That sounds fascinating! Tell you what, let me know when you're done with that book. And I'll let you borrow one of my favorite books that I'd think you might enjoy."
"Really, what's it called?"
"That's the best part. The book may have been where your ancestor got his name from. King Arthur and the Knights of the Round Table."
"Heh, well ya learn somethin' new everyday. Guess I gotta take a look at that later down the line."
With that, Sonic, Sally, and the rest of the Freedom Fighters kept crossing the bridge on their way to Sonic and Tails' current residence.
Conference Room, GUN HQ
Shadow the Hedgehog had eventually made a full recovery since being visited by his higher officer and coworker. After leaving the infirmary, he was given a week of rest until he could be allowed back in the force alongside Rouge the Bat and E-123 Ω (Omega).
During his down time, Rouge had given Shadow the file that the late Dr. Thorndyke gave her and the Lt. Commander, studying the limited information that GUN's research team provided.
On the day before he returned back to work, Rouge came into Shadow's living quarters and handed him a suitcase with their organization's logo on it. When he opened it, Shadow saw that he was given a professionally made and tailored sleeveless Hunter green and black flak jacket with the GUN logo stitched to the right arm. On top of the flak jacket were gloves with the same color scheme that also added a white accent to it. On the other half of the suitcase were a pair of GUN modeled Air Shoes that carried the same colors as the gloves.
Shadow thanked Rouge for the new attire, to which she told him that a couple of jewels and a night on the town would make them even.
Now, the scarred eyed split eared black hedgehog, now sporting his new outfit, had reported to the Conference Room where a meeting was underway. Entering beside him was Rouge and Omega.
Present at the meeting was of course the unofficial captain of Team Dark, Lt. Commander Topaz Tower, who sat at the conference table with Shadow and Rouge while Omega stood behind them.
While Overlander security officers stood in front of the doors and next to every other window, three other figures were occupying the other end of the conference table.
One man, a lengthy pale skinned man with short brown hair and matching irises, sat on a chair at one end of the table. He wore a blue suit over a white collared shirt with a red tie.
This was Langston Arbuckle, current president of the United Federation.
Sitting over on the president's left was a tan-skinned human woman with a slim figure, long brown hair, and lavender eyes. She also wore pink lipstick. For attire, she wore a tan suit with a white shirt, brown boots and glasses with yellow frames.
This was current UF Secretary, Christina Cooper.
And standing over to President Arbuckle was an older man that is taller than himself. He had a lined face, peach skin and short gray hair. He possessed complete heterochromia, with his left eye being green and his right eye being brown. For his uniform, it consisted of a gray service dress uniform with four gold stars on red backings upon the shoulder boards and jacket collar. There was a GUN emblem on the upper left sleeve, and red and blue stripes on the lower sleeves and pants. The stripes, with gold detailing partially over a center red stripe, are present on the front left side of his jacket as well. He also wore black combat boots and white gloves.
This was GUN Commander Abraham Tower, Topaz's grandfather.
"Welcome Lt. Commander, Agents, E-123. Good Afternoon." President Arbuckle said.
"Mr. President, sir! Commander, Secretary Cooper." Topaz saluted, with Shadow nodding silently and Rouge waving at the three.
Omega flashed his red digital scanners (eyes), signifying that he acknowledged the Overlanders.
"Now that everybody is accounted for, the meeting can begin." The president began as he turned to his secretary. "Ms. Secretary, if you would?"
"Of course, sir." The dark skinned woman said while adjusting her glasses. "Exactly fifteen hours ago, there had been a break in within the labs over at the Science Department. According to video footage found in the facility's cameras, the robbery took place in the lab that housed the specter which three fourths of this team had retrieved nearly two months ago."
"What!?" Shadow shouted while Rouge gasped.
"If I may ask, how did this happen?" Lt. Commander Topaz questioned. "Security would have been able to handle a situation like this if it were to arise. Besides, they suspect they would need special clearance to access the room and confiscate the scepter from the console."
"That is true, Lt. Commander. In fact, the footage had shown Dr. Thorndyke to be the last person to have walked away with the scepter in his possession."
"Dr. Thorndyke was the culprit?" Rouge inquired. "But wasn't he leading the one that suggested we leave the thing here so he could study it? Why wait to snag the thing now?"
Topaz added. "Not to mention that he doesn't like taking chances when the cons outweigh the pros of a decision."
"...Something's not adding up." Shadow thought aloud. "The doctor seems too altruistic to suddenly have a change of heart. And I know evil when I see it. There's not a malicious bone in that man's body."
"You three are all correct," President Arbuckle solemnly said as he closed his eyes while leaning against his chair, reminiscing. "Dr. Charles Thorndyke was a brilliant man. I've known him since I was a boy. One of the brightest of his generation, he was. The man aspired to use his vast knowledge to help the world understand itself and the rich history of our various cultures. Perhaps, it was his intent to uncover the part we play in our mistakes. His own way of helping us figure out how to not make the same error again."
"Wait, was?" Shadow repeated, with Rouge's expression softening apprehensively.
"YOU SPEAK OF THE DOCTOR IN PAST TENSE, AS IF TO IMPLY THAT HE IS NO LONGER ALIVE," Omega said in a direct fashion.
"That is because he is no longer with us, sadly." The president sighed forlornly.
Rouge's eyes drooped down as she sat in silence. She may not have known the old man personally, but his upbeat nature and optimistic personality grew on the bat. Dr. Thorndyke was a guy that she had been accustomed to visiting the Overlander.
Shadow found himself frowning at this new information but said nothing of it.
"...That is unfortunate news, Mr. President," Topaz said, having to process the leader's words. "Was there a ruling on the cause of death?"
"That is one of the reasons why we are here today," the President said as he gestured to Commander Tower to take over the conversation.
Nodding, the GUN Commander pulled out a remote, walked over to the side of the conference table, and pulled a screen so that he could turn on the preinstalled projector.
As he set up a slideshow on the projector, the Commander explained, "Officially, Dr. Charles Thorndyke has passed away from an explosion that he was caught in while conducting an experiment. You know, however, that it was merely a cover-up story to spare the Thorndyke family from the real truth."
While clicking through a few photos, Commander Tower stated, "Authorized personnel stumbled upon a crystalized substance not too different from previous reports associated with fallen or missing soldiers. What was unsettling was that next to the scattered pieces were traces of blood on the ground. And it's been confirmed to belong to Dr. Thorndyke."
"How can this make any lick of sense when the footage over in the lab shows him without so much as a scratch on him?" Rouge inquired, stumped at the whole situation.
"I and many members of staff were also baffled by this, causing our investigation to stagger to a halt. It was actually Secretary Cooper who told us to backtrack to the beginning, which prompted us to check the hallway's footage."
The older man then showed the screen of the hallways moments before Dr. Thorndyke's death. The hallway was shown to have been occupied by Dr. Thorndyke, who was walking about to leave when a purple mist formed out of nowhere. This caused the appearance of the older man to be shrouded in a silhouette. The next slides show that a larger silhouette had crept from across the other end of the hall until it was next to Chuck's shadow and eventually shrunk down to Chuck's size. Finally, the last two slides were of one vanishing before a smirking "Dr. Thorndyke" had turned back to the lab, leaving shattered pieces of crystal.
'That mist! It's similar to that aura I saw Metallix radiating!' Shadow recognized in his mind.
"Upon first inspection, we found that the audio had unfortunately been corrupted beyond recovery. In spite of this and based on what we have, our working theory is that the Dr. Thorndyke walking within the hallway may not be real and that we suspect that there was foul play on the intruder's part." Commander Tower concluded.
Secretary Cooper spoke, "With that being the case, we are unsure as to who could be the culprit as to what or who could have been the one responsible for Dr. Thorndyke's death and the theft of the Scepter of Light."
Looking at his subordinates, the President asked, "What say you, E-123, Lt. Commander, Agents? Do any of you have an idea as to who or what could be capable of this?"
"...IF I HAD BEEN PRESENT, MY SCANNERS COULD HAVE POSSIBLY DETECTED THE INTRUDER THROUGH THE MIST. BUT GIVEN WHAT HAS BEEN SHOWN, IT'S HIGHLY LIKELY THAT THE INTRUDER MAY HAVE THE ABILITY TO CHANGE SHAPE, STEALING THE APPEARANCE OF THE LATE DR. THORNDYKE," Omega suggested.
"Ah, that sounds like we have a possible shapeshifter as a culprit." Topaz thought aloud.
"This is me just throwing it out there," Rouge the Bat stated. "What we saw could be the work of Fiona Fox."
Shadow heard this and immediately shook his head, muttering, "Here she goes again…"
"Rouge…!" Topaz warned with a stern expression.
"What? I'm being serious! Last I checked, she could take any person's form that she looked at before. It's possible!" The bat argued.
"Rouge, she cannot produce supernatural mist, let alone summon crystals." Topaz blatantly pointed out. "Her track record doesn't match your supposed conspiracy."
Rouge huffed, stating, "Hmph! It still wouldn't hurt to bring it up! That sneaky little fox is as suspect as they come if you ask me!"
The president turned to his secretary and asked, "Who is Fiona Fox?"
"A young and infamous thief known throughout the kingdom of Acornia. It seems that Agent Facet may have a history with her." Topaz explained.
"Ah," The president nodded.
Commander Tower turned to Shadow, asking him, "What's your perspective, Agent Black Wind?"
"...The mist, I've seen something like this before elsewhere." Shadow revealed.
Everybody paid close attention to Shadow as their eyes widened.
"You have?" The President and the Commander spoke simultaneously.
Shadow nodded as he explained, "The mist that surrounded the hallways seemed similar to the supernatural energy that I've been detecting from multiple creatures throughout my missions. In fact, Dr. Robotnik has somehow incorporated this power into his machines recently. As you all are aware, two of them caused the destruction of Downtown Westopolis. It wouldn't be out of the realm of possibility to conclude that the intruder may either be a lackey or the terrorist responsible for the attacks."
"Yes, this so-called Ixis Magick, if I remember correctly. Well, if I learned anything from when I first came into the office, it is to believe that all things can be possible." President Arbuckle stated.
"Following the loss of Dr. Thorndyke, we've taken the liberty of contacting a colleague of his from Spagonia to resume his research on deciphering the journal."
The President then motioned to the Commander, who was given two files by the Secretary, only for the man to pass it to the Lt. Commander.
As his granddaughter retrieved them, the Commander explained, "Lt. Commander, you're assigned to a small group of soldiers at the dig site in Shamar. You will be on guard duty, protecting a team of miners digging from the Erebite mound."
"...Not that I am arguing against it or anything, but why the old Erebite mound? I thought that we abandoned it two decades ago." Topaz inquired.
"According to Dr. Thorndyke's notes, Erebite, upon tests done by Thorndyke himself, has been discovered to possess an uncanny property: The ability to nullify and absorb forms of energy ranging from thermal, kinetic, electrical and even metaphysical forces such as Chaos energy. This seems to correlate with certain texts found in Felidae folklore regarding the stone being able to banish evil spirits. So, he believes that the mineral could be of use in dealing with Ixis Magick in the future. You are not to fail under any circumstance, understand?"
Topaz saluted, "Yes, sir!"
The Commander then turned to Team Dark, Shadow saw a file with a picture of a Mobian familiar, yet foreign to the black hedgehog. The Mobian seemed to be a sky-blue Azurite hedgehog with baby blue eyes, peach skin, and gray eyebrows and a color-matching mustache. The hedgehog wore a pair of brown gloves, boots, a green turtle neck, and a small pair of glasses.
'...This is-!'
"-Sir Charles Hedgehog, long-time loyal knight of the kingdom of Acornia, the Minister of Science, and widely respected educator across the scientific community as the Mobian Professor," Secretary stated while cleaning her glasses with a dry cloth before placing them back on her face.
While peering at the file for herself, Rouge pointed out, "Say, this old man kind of looks like Sonic."
"THE VISUAL RESEMBLANCE BETWEEN SIR CHARLES AND SONIC THE HEDGEHOG IS UNCANNY. HOWEVER, IT MAY BE MERELY A COINCIDENCE, AS PREVIOUS RECORDS IN MY DATABASE STATES THAT SONIC THE HEDGEHOG DOES NOT HAVE ANY LIVING RELATIVES LISTED." Omega added.
The black hedgehog remained silent, awaiting further instructions.
"You three are to head to Mobian Territory and seek out Sir Charles Hedgehog in Acornia. If anybody has more experience in ways to deal with Ixis Magick, it will be him. This information needs to be reported back to HQ." The Commander stated.
"Are we even allowed clearance to travel to Acornia? The treaty has not been finalized yet." Rouge asked, worried that their presence may damage relations between the two factions.
The President raised a hand, diplomatically reassuring Rouge, "Not to worry, Agent Facet. I have already contacted King Maximillian about the matter. He was kind enough to give you and Agent Black Wind special badges that authorize you to enter his kingdom. Omega will also have special clearance through his AI assistant."
Rouge nodded at this, satisfied with her question being answered.
"Your arrival there is welcomed," The Commander brought up. "The king's militia is currently combating the forces of Dr. Robotnik. And according to the king, he has joined forces with the mystical terrorist as a collaboration to take over the world. This is a perfect opportunity to demonstrate the integrity and comradery that our organization embodies. Failure is not an option. Is that clear?"
'Hmph. If the doctor is in Mobian Territory, then the blue hedgehog shouldn't be far behind. It looks like I'll get to pay him a visit early after all.' The half alien half Mobian hedgehog thought to himself.
And just like that, Shadow, Rouge, and Omega saluted as they accepted the mission.
"Good," The President smiled as the man said, "A helicopter will be ready for you three in thirty minutes. Grab your belongings and meet the Commander at the hangar before then. "
"Yes, sir!"
Nodding, President Arbuckle dismissed his four subordinates, officially ending the meeting.
Sonic's House, Green Hill, South Island
As promised, the shortcut that two thirds of Team Sonic spoke of cut the traveling time of an hour on foot to twenty five minutes. And the conversations that the Knothole Freedom Fighters had amongst themselves and with the boys made their journey to Sonic and Tails' home that much shorter.
Needless to say, what the militia assumed where Sonic and Tails had stayed was not what they quite expected.
"...And we're here!" Tails announced, with him and Sonic presenting the their home.
What stood in front of the Freedom Fighters were an old junkyard of transport vessels covered in moss and wild vines, surrounded by trees while built against a mountain. Over on the right side of this a couple of small wooden huts reminiscent to the ones built by the war survivors in Knothole Sanctuary.
"...You/Ya'll live here?" All of the Freedom Fighters asked the two at the same time.
"Uh huh!" Sonic nodded, smiling at his place with his head turned to its direction. "This is about as close to home as we got."
"It looks, well, rathair unique..." Antoine carefully worded with a weary smile.
"Holy smokes, is that a satellite up there!?" Rotor asked, pointing to the fallen space machine sitting on top of the mountain.
Tails nodded casually, stating, "Yeah, that stuff has been here before any of the population lived here."
"Don't all of this junk make it hard fo' ya'll tuh, ya know, live?" Bunnie said, with her expression.
"I agree, Sonic, Tails," Sally said as she voiced her concerns. "The composition of those vessels worry me about their sanitary conditions. It's a miracle that they look stable enough to stay in one piece."
Sonic and Tails found themselves frowning at this while looking at each other. The two mammals then turned back to the Freedom Fighters with Sonic crossing his arms.
Tails then pointed out, "While we appreciate your concerns, it's not necessary. Those makeshift buildings are not where we actually live. That would be the huts. And while we can't help what happened to them throughout the years of enduring the elements, they are safe enough to enter and occupy."
"Come on, guys. Haven't ya'll ever heard of don't judge a book by its cover?" Sonic playfully jabbed, mocking a glare.
The other Freedom Fighters glanced at each other, unsure whether or not to take the boys' words.
Sighing, Sonic rolled his eyes as he said, "Look, just come and follow us inside."
Reluctantly, the militia followed the kitsune and hedgehog to the bottom level of their base of operations which was located in the plane portion of the wreckage. Taking off his glove, Sonic placed his naked right hand on a scanner right of the front door, causing it to open up.
Inside, the Freedom Fighters' perception of Sonic and Tails' home quickly shifted. Inside of the plane was not only spotless, but its metallic and chrome interior was reminiscent of version Freedom HQ's base back in their Knothole Sanctuary days, only more advanced.
"...Okay! This isn't what-" Rotor started speaking, only for Tails to finish his sentence.
"-you were expecting?" The fox walrus and the other older Freedom Fighters nodded. "Yeah, we get that a lot."
While waking at the end of the plane, Sonic said, "Don't start gawkin' now. This is just the hallway. Trust us, guys. Ya'll haven't seen anythin' yet!"
The seven Mobians ended up standing on a circular platform that fit all of them. Tails pressed a button on his Tempest Bracer wrist device, activating the elevator lift that took them up to the second floor of the base; located in the spaceship portion of the wreckage that served as the command center.
On this floor, the Acornian militia could see how the interior resembled that of a traditional base of operations. Down the hallways were clean restrooms, a small snack room, and a lounge with a gaming set. The head of the ship had large windows where they could see the coast of South Island more clearly. At the right hand side, Tails' large computer was installed in the wall for him to access at any given time. Over on the left hand side was a closet which if opened, had extra and or old equipment such as extra gloves and Power Sneakers, Ring Bombs, the Flame Ring, the Bounce Bracelet, capsules with Super Rings inside of them, and a few Boomerings.
Sally remained silent, merely basking at the view that the second floor provided the group.
"...Oh mah stars," Bunnie gasped before smiling. "Look at this, hare."
"It's like a miniature Freedom HQ," Rotor added, inspecting the computer.
Antoine, after he stopped admiring the past few paintings that were hanging on the wall, cleared his throat while he admitted, "Clearly, we have underestimated ze two of you."
"Yeah," Sonic said casually, putting his arms folded behind his head. "We get that a lot, too."
Turning to the princess, Sonic got her attention by calling out to her.
"Hey, Red!"
She was snapped out of her trance as she was met with a coy smirk and an innocent yet coy grin from both Sonic and Tails.
"Does our place meet your standards of stable and clean?" Sonic snarked with his arms crossed.
Rolling her eyes playfully, Sally said, "Alright, cut you boys some slack. Since the view and house keeping outweighs the exterior's unsavory appearance, I'll give this place a seven and a half out of ten."
"Shoot!" Sonic snapped his fingers, feinging frustration. "And I was so close to a perfect eight."
Bunnie whispered at Antoine and Rotor, saying, "Look at these two actin' all flirty! Ah don't thank thay evun noticed it! Shameless~."
The other two restrained themselves from busting out laughing.
"Aw, man. Maybe we should have shown them the hangar down at the basement." Tails thought aloud.
Rotor stopped what he was doing when he heard the word, "hangar".
When turning to Tails' direction, he said, "Dude, you gotta take me there!"
"Sure thing, Rotor. Just let me locate the Chaos Emerald's signature from the main computer while I update the Miles Electric, we can then swing by the basement."
"Sweet!"
From the mention of Rotor's enthusiasm, Bunnie then asked, "Yawl wouldn't mind hif way exploring thuh place for uh bit, would you?"
Tails shook his head, saying, "Not at all, the updates are going to take about fifteen minutes."
"That iz fine. We will be nearby if you are in need of us." Antoine said before following Bunnie into the hallway.
Tails then mentioned to Sonic, "Oh, I've stopped by the house and placed your old snowboard by the front door before we flew off to Acornia. You might wanna put that in your room."
"Oh cool! I was finna head over there, anyway." Sonic said, giving Tails as thumb's up before turning to Sally. "Wanna come along, Red?"
Sally, placing her hands on her hips, sassily said, "I thought you'd never ask, Blue."
With that, Sonic led Sally to an exist on the second floor, which had a trail leading to Sonic and Tails' hut.
-Sonic and Tails' House, Three Minutes Later-
The princess and the adventure entered Sonic and Tails' home, and Sally's impression on it was a positive one.
The boys' home was a brown and round wooden hut with a two-layer straw roof and a metal cap on top. Around the walls are rectangular windows with blinds and two front doors.
Sonic and Tails' House had several rooms which were all spotless. It had a small kitchen area with a sink, a refrigerator, and a small dinner table with fine china neatly set. There was an office room that used to belong to Harvey Who that was downstairs. In the living room, there was a green couch, a modernized coffee table, a fireplace and a hanging armchair. Tails had built a flat screen television which was updated to have the highest quality for best viewing experience. Around the corner from the couch was the Memorabilia Board that Tails had pinned up with photos of their previous adventures. Down the hall were the other rooms such as the bathroom, two closet spaces, a door that led to Tails' workshop, the master bedroom that once belonged to Sonic and Tails' late guardians, and of course, Tails' room and Sonic's room respectively.
Speaking of Sonic's room, Sally found herself being led to her childhood friend's living quarters.
Opening the door to his room, Sonic said while holding his snowboard, "You're free to take a look around while I put this back."
"Ridding yourself of me, are we? Can it be that your room is messy?" Sally lightly teased.
Sonic smirked, retorting, "Heh, that's what you think. But you're free to be the judge of that yourself."
What she first noticed was the large world map that was plastered on the back of the wall. Below that was his wooden sleigh bed with silky white sheets under a maroon colored duvet with matching pillows. There was a single circular window with a gold curtain handing on the curtain rod. Over on the left, next to the closet with a mirror mounted on the closet door was a small dresser with a few articles of clothes such as different colored gloves, socks, and very few shirts and shorts. On the right, was a small chair against a desk that had items that were labeled with years and small descriptions of what the item was associated with. Behind that desk was a posture of Harvey Who and his wife during their youth while happily standing in front of their plane called The Grand Adventure.
Finally, Sally had found old pictures of a young Sonic and a young Tails with their old caretakers and a more recent photo of Sonic and Tails with Amy, Cream (and Cheese), Vanilla, Knuckles, a large and rotund purple Mobian cat, a black Mobian hedgehog that she assumed was this Shadow person that she heard him talk about, a curvaceous white Mobian bat girl, a robot, a green Mobian crocodile roughly Knuckles' age, a violet Mobian chameleon that seemed to be Sonic's age, and a Mobian bee roughly Cream's age.
'These must be more of his friends. He looks so happy in these… I longed for my life to live at this level of peace. I can't help but envy him.'
Sally sat on Sonic's bed while looking at the room. Looked at the map of Mobius and noticed that there were pins attached to cards that specified whether or not Sonic had visited the area pinned.
'...Oliver wasn't kidding when he said that he's been around.' Sally mentioned in her mind while watching Sonic put away his blue and white snowboard.
"Sonic," Sally asked, getting the blue hedgehog's attention. "Harvey owned this house, right?"
"Yeah, he moved here roughly twenty five years ago. Why?" Sonic said, taking a seat next to his desk of souvenirs.
"Wouldn't the government confiscate it from you since both the owner and the beneficiary have passed away?"
Sonic shook his head, answering, "Nah. I inherited the property through Old Man Owl's will after his death. Therefore, placin' ownership over the land and its property are mine and Tails."
"That's good to know." Sally nodded nonchalantly. "Grandfather and Daddy always wondered where he went off to retire. I never would have guessed it would be here of all places."
"Given what the king said about his former job, settlin' down in an abandoned military air base makes sense to me."
"Huh. That does explain the air crafts, but not the train." Sally thoughtfully pondered aloud, causing Sonic to shrug as she continued."And I assume that living expenses are taken care of?"
"Been paid off? Yeah. There's a village up north that's got a market where I go to get groceries from. And that's for stuff that we can't normally grow or fish ourselves. When Tails came into our lives, he made a generator which produces enough energy to give us our own electricity. And we have our own gas and pipelines for plumbin' and other things. I'm pretty much set out here." Sonic said with a smiled.
"Really?" Sally said, expressing her shock as she raised an eyebrow. "So, you don't have any source of income?"
Sonic explained, "Outside of our inheritence, no. Tails generally handles how we manage the budgetin' for the most part, not that I can't handle it or anythin'. He just breaks things down easier for us to track our spendin' habits so we know what we should cut down on. And while its been workin' out for us in the long run, Tails and I have been meanin' to start findin' other lines of work for ourselves. I mean, its not like we can live off of Old Man Owl and Granny's things forever."
"There always positions available in New Mobotropolis if you're interest, but I'm sure that you'll figure something out sooner or later." Sally reassured before placing her hands on her lap.
'Okay, Sarah. You can do this...just go about it slowly and carefully.'
"...Oliver? Can you answer a question honestly for me? It's something that's been on my mind recently."
The sudden shift in Sally's tone was apparent enough to bring the blue hedgehog's attention acutely towards his childhood friend. Her expression had a soft yet worriness to her. His piercing emerald green eyes met her baby blue eyes, never losing focus. He hadn't bothered to correct the princess, given the name that was supposedly bestowed to Sonic upon his birth had a personal value to the chipmunk.
"Yeah, sure! What's up?" Sonic said, awaiting the question.
"Your parents; Queen Aleena, Sir Jules. You haven't asked anything about them since you arrived in the Mobian Alliance." Sally stated softly.
"Oh…" Sonic said with his lips thinning before scratching one of his temples in an awkward manner. "...I'd a lyin' wonder if I said that I thought about them."
"Why not? They were your parents, Ollie. They are a part of who you are. Wouldn't you want to get to know who they were as people?"
Sonic paused as a dreadful sound a feminine scream echoed through his mind after hearing something or someone gargle and cough up blood prior to being injured. He could recall the smell of burnt flesh and oak filling his nostrils. Shaking his head, Sonic spoke to her with an impassive tone.
"Biologically? Sure, I buy that. And you know what? Maybe I was this Prince Oliver Cobalt guy, and that I was supposed to be a part of a society of these fancy nobles and royalty at one point. But that lil man ain't the guy that's speakin' to ya today, is he?" Sonic questioned, with a frown fully setting on his muzzle.
Sally frowned at his shift in attitude, but kept her diplomatic and composed stance on that matter, saying, "I know that this is not a delicate topic, and I understand where you are comin-"
Sonic held up a hand to cut her off as he firmly said, "-Let me stop you right there. Cause I don't think you do understand. And it's nothin' against you or anything like that, but ya'll got things twisted about who I am. Queen Aleena and Sir Jules, they dead and have gone to the upper room. There's no point bringin' up folks that I ain't got no connections to other their blood in my veins. Me? Now? I'm an aspiring adventurer that came from Green Hill, and ain't nothing will change that."
"Wait, no! Nobody's trying to change you, Ol-, Sonic." Sally reassured, correcting herself in the process.
Sonic, reaffirming who he was to the princess, evenly said, "Then get what I'm sayin', Red. Sir Jules and Queen Aleena may have given me life, but they are not my parents. I may have been born in Acornia, but I'm gonna keep it real when I say that I don't see myself as one of ya'll. I'm a South Islander from my values down to how I speak. Harvey Who and Grace Who raised me up, Tails and Knuckles are my brothers, and Amy and Cream are like sisters to me. My friends are my family. They make me who I am today. And it sure ain't no Oliver Cobalt. I am Sonic, Sonic the Hedgehog. Are we clear on that?"
The two stared at each other for a brief moment before Sally relented on the matter before anything could further escalate.
"Alright, Sonic. I get it." Sally answered before she began to mentally kick herself.
'Gosh, what in the world was I thinking? This is more than about his parents, Oliver is not who I remember him to be. The coup saw to that. He's Sonic, now. And to him, I'm just a princess that he's trying to help. I shouldn't be so fixated on projecting his past self onto who he is today. Ken Khan and NICOLE were right, and so is Sonic. I've got to overcome the past. I need to let that pain go.'
Sonic got up from his desk, looking at a mildly somber-looking Sally. He placed a comforting gloved hand on her shoulder while cracking a genuine smile, uttering two words.
"Sally, smile."
A silly smile appeared on Sally's muzzle, confused at the missing context behind Sonic's phrase.
"W-What?" Sally stammered, holding back the urge to giggle. "Smile? Where is this coming from?"
"Beats me," Sonic shrugged while processing the fluttering beats of his heart reacting to Sally's laughter. "I've always had a habit of finding a reason to smile. Guess I can't stand seein' folks so sad, so I just go with the flow and be myself."
Shaking her head, Sally got up from the blue hedgehog's bed and playfully punched his chest as she said, "You're such a dork… but I appreciate the sentiment."
Sonic chuckled as the guilt of his previous tone that he took resounded in his conscious.
"Sorry if I sounded like a jerk, I-" Sonic began apologizing, only for the princess to place a finger on his lips.
"It's quite alright, Sonic. It was a sensitive topic, and you answered my question with honesty. That's all that I asked for, so all is forgiven." Sally stated civilly, prompting the blue hedgehog to nod. "Now, how about you show me that book from Shamar that you claim to have own?"
Sonic nodded in agreement, saying, "That's fine by me. It's over on the bookshelf in Old Man Owl's office. We can head over to there before meetin' back up with the others."
"Lets," Sally spurred, prompting Sonic to lead her elsewhere into his house in search of the Arabian Nights.
Needless to say, the two enjoyed themselves peering through the pages and conversing about the content within the chapter regarding Ali Baba and the Forty Thieves.
Sir Charles' Office, Ministry of Science, New Mobotropolis
For quite some time, Sir Charles Hedgehog had been well adjusted to the concept of mortality and death. The Great War, the fall of Azuron, and the coup of Acornia were all instances where the idea tested the resolve and psyche of the older man.
Throughout his life, Sir Charles had lost his friends, homeland, his people, and most importantly, his family.
Despite these tragedies, the loyal knight and scientist pushed through the pain and moved forward in his life with the hedgehog's head held high.
...That didn't mean that the pain went away. Sir Charles would often go through pictures that he salvaged from his old family album and took during his earlier days living in Mobotropolis. He would reminisce on the simpler times, the peaceful times spent with his brother and sister-in-law while watching his infant nephew.
He'd then shift his mind to the memories where Professor Nathan Morgan, his old mentor, would help him research how Chaos energy worked earlier in his career.
Of course, all of these people that the Mobian cherished aside from Oliver (now Sonic) had perished, never to be seen again.
And once again, Sir Charles found himself staring at a picture of a long-time friend that had passed away according to a message that came from the president right when Sir Charles was in the middle of replying.
Dr. Charles "Chuck" Thorndyke, a fellow colleague and student of Nathan Morgan.
'...I never thought I'd outlive you. Not like this. You've gone from us too soon.' Sir Charles thought to himself as he led the picture of his friend and himself at their prime while an older dark-skinned Overlander stood in the middle of them as Chuck Thorndyke and Sir Charles held their university certificates. 'You left behind an extraordinary legacy, both as a man and a scientist. And I couldn't ask for a better colleague. Until we meet again, old friend. May you rest in peace.'
Upon receiving a transmission from his wrist communicator, Sir Charles told the receptionist to allow whoever arrived to send the visitors to his office. The Mobian sky blue placed the picture frame back down on his desk as a door opened.
The person who opened the door happened to be Arthur Mongoose, who ushered in Team Dark; led by Rouge the bat, who was followed by E-123 Ω (Omega), and finally, Shadow the Hedgehog.
The professor's mouth parted upon gazing at Shadow's appearance. His mind began to race as his eyes absorbed the black hedgehog's hardened facial features and quill shape. Subconsciously, the mustached Mobian had to adjust his glasses, for he swore that he was looking at the ghost of his late brother.
'...This young man's a spitting image of Jules! Aside from the eyes and fur color. Could he be an Azurite, too? I wonder…'
While getting up to greet Team Dark, Sir Charles said, "Salutations, GUN Operatives. I hope that your journey to the Mobian Alliance was a pleasant one. I am Sir Charles Hedgehog, minister of this department and knight of the kingdom of Acornia."
Rouge walked up to him with a hand extended, stating, "A knight you say? Classy~! Agent Facet, but you can call me Rouge~."
"Charmed to meet you, Madam Rouge." Sir Charles politely said, shaking her hand.
"Ooo! Madam? What a gentleman~!" Rouge smiled with satisfaction. "We'll be getting along just fine~."
"Likewise," Sir Charles commented as he turned to Omega. "And what would your designation be?"
"DESIGNATION; E-123 Ω (OMEGA). I AM A WAR MACHINE DESIGNED TO BE THE ULTIMATE WEAPON OF MY SERIES. PRIMARY DIRECTIVE; ELIMINATE ALL OF ROBOTNIK'S CREATIONS." Omega introduced using his voice chip.
Sir Charles nodded to Omega, acknowledging the machine before turning to Shadow.
"And you must be the famed Black Wind of GUN that saved the world three times over. Shadow, was it?" The knighted hedgehog, causing Shadow to raise a brow as he crossed his arms.
The black hedgehog asked, "You know of me, Professor?"
"Of course, my nephew has spoken highly of you. And any person who is an ally to Sonic is alright with me." Sir Charles casually revealed, prompting Rouge to go buggy-eyed.
"Y-You're Big Blue's uncle!? Why is this the first time I'm hearing of you?" Rouge exclaimed, pointing at the older hedgehog before turning to her comrade. " And how can you be casual about this?"
"Rouge, it was obvious, to begin with. He literally looks like the blue hedgehog, but older." Shadow simply answered, rolling his eyes.
Omega, speaking on behalf of his teammates, asked, "PROFESSOR HEDGEHOG, HAS THE PRESIDENT RELEASED INFORMATION REGARDING THE FATE OF DR. CHARLES THORNDYKE TO YOU?"
Sir Charles stiffly nodded, elaborating, "Yes, I was given the unfortunate news."
Rouge and Shadow directed their attention as the black hedgehog took over the conversation.
"Then you may or may not have heard that the unofficial ruling over Doctor Thorndyke's passing is a homicide."
The elderly hedgehog gasped for a split second, then hardened his expression.
"Explain," Sir Charles gruffly, doing away with his friendly persona and replacing it with the mask of a veteran warrior.
After ten minutes of recapping the events of Chuck's death, Sir Charles found himself leaning against the front of his office desk, holding his face as the hedgehog took deep breaths.
'Naugus! Everything that was horrid in my life, it all comes back to you! How many lives must you ruin until you're satisfied!? If only I was younger and stronger… I'd tear you apart with my own two hands!'
Sir Charles' darker thoughts had unearthed his killing intent that had not been present since the Great War. This sent shivers down Rouge's spine, prompting Shadow to call to him.
"Professor!"
The elder hedgehog snapped out of his concealed rage, then briefly apologized for his episode. When Rouge tried asking whether he was emotionally okay, Sir Charles politely reassured his guests that he was stable for the time being.
Clearing his throat, Sir Charles questioned, "Aside from that, I was under the impression that you three and GUN are in need of my services. What can I do for you?"
Shadow nodded to Rouge, prompting the white bat to take out the files regarding Ixis Magick, then placed them on Sir Charles' desk.
The white bat's sultry nature completely switched.
"Ixis Magick, tell us everything that you know about it. And don't leave a single detail out." Rouge pressed with professionalism.
Hedgehog's Pass, Green Hill, South Island
After meeting back up with each other, the Freedom Fighters found themselves deeper into the fields of Green Hill with Sally (holding NICOLE's handheld) and Tails (holding the Miles Electric) leading the search for the Chaos Emerald. The signal would sporadically grow stronger then go faint. This random pattern had the group dumbfounded and left a few members (Sonic and Bunnie, in particular) frustrated as to where the location of the Emerald was.
"Ugh! Where in thuh hay can that darn rock be!? Way should have found it ages ago!" Bunnie complained, taking off her hat and fanning her face with it.
Sonic, turning to Tails, asked, "Yo, Tails. Are ya sure that your device is up-to-date? We're kind of drawing blanks here."
"Positive." Tails stated while glancing at his handheld. "How bizarre… It's like each time we get closer, the Chaos Emerald moves further away."
"You noticed it too?" Sally said as she brought her attention to Tails. "That can't be normal."
Tails shook his head negatively stating, "That's like the Chaos Emeralds constantly entering in and out of Special Zones in a sporadic interval."
"Something doesn't feel right about this, guys." Rotor pointed out. "It's almost like-"
"-like we are being led ahstray purposely." Antoine finished with a hardened expression, placing a free hand on the handle of his sheathed sword.
Sonic remained quiet, listening to the conversation while leaning against the thirty feet tall plateau that was in their current location.
'...I don't like this. Not one bit.' The speedy adventure mentally added, but chose not to verbally comment.
The next thing that they knew, the signal had gone dead. Causing a dreadful silence to sweep through the area.
"...Chaos Emerald signal has been lost," NICOLE spoke through the handheld.
"...What?" Tails whispered.
"...W-What does that mean? It was right here a moment ago!" Sally exclaimed.
"My apologies, Princess. My scanners are continuing to attempt to pinpoint the signal, but the signature has been lost."
Everybody turned to each other, concerned at their current situation. Before anyone could comment or retaliate in regards to this new problem, a metallic arm shot out of the wall of the plateau and quickly took hold of Sonic's neck, clenching down on it so the hyperactive hedgehog couldn't escape. As soon as Sonic started to try and pry the metallic hand off his windpipe, the origin of the metallic arm soon busted through the plateau's wall, revealing it to be none other than the Ixis-infused android of destruction, Metallix.
"Hello Sonic, long time no SEE!" Metallix roared as he spun his body around to be in front of Sonic, then slammed him against the wall of the plateau as he gave the heroic Mobian a cold stare. "Why so pale, hedgehog? Not enough sunlight? Let's fix that."
Metallix then quickly ascended up the wall of the plateau, dragging Sonic across its surface violently with dirt and stone unearthed and fragmenting as a large fissure was created on the side of the plateau. Metallix soon reached past the plateau, still holding the now bruised and dirt-covered Sonic with his metallic claw, and soon halted his flight in front of the bright yellow sun, casting a silhouette of him and his long-time adversary. Before Sonic could try to break free once more, Metallix let out a ferocious mechanical roar as he pulled back his metallic arm with Sonic in hand, aimed at a loop-de-loop in the distance and with all his robotic-mystical strength, threw the Blue Blur at it with enough force to break the sound barrier. As soon as Sonic collided with the loop-de-loop, it was torn in half from the force alone and soon crumbled as fragments of rock and earth fell from above and down below to the soil of Green Hill.
"SONIC!" The Freedom Fighters bellowed after turning to where the landmark once stood, only now reacting to the insanity that was the hedgehog's ambush.
The Freedom Fighters' priority to their teammate was immediately cut short by the larger mechanical threat that slowly descended to the ground, standing in front of Tails, who activated his Energy Cannon as a means to prepare for any upcoming attacks from the enemy.
"We meet again, fox! I've been looking forward to a rematch!"
While the rest of the Freedom Fighters, calling upon and/or drawing their weapons, Tails' baby blue eyes dilated as he recognized the voice and the context behind the machine's words.
There could be only one Badnik that was this aware of him that he could hold such a personal grudge against him and especially Sonic.
"...Metal!"
To Be Continued…
Author's Note: Hey, everyone! DSG451's back with the first chapter of 2023!
First off, I'd like to give a shoutout to my good friend, UltimateDemonBeast65 for helping me with this chapter and the story overall!
Next, I highly recommend that you check out the RESURGENCE version of Nazo Unleashed that I wrote last month. Like I said in the beginning of this story, events will play out a tad bit differently and events that happened there will eventually come into play later on. That is considered to be a prequel to the main story here, set after Sonic Rush but three months before Sonic and his friends headed to Acornia.
References to Sonic and the Secret Rings and Sonic in the Black Knight were made as a means to establish that Sonic (and Sally) likes to read in his more quiet and alone times. And while it is possible for Sonic to be sent into the land of Camelot, Sonic will not be able to go to the World of the Arabian Nights by normal means…yet. There will be two copies of said book, where one will be lost.
More on that later.
Sonic's hard stance on his identity was a means to keep himself confident about who he is, his place in the world, and to deny a side of himself that is associated with the bleak truth that is his past as Oliver Cobalt. This will be explored in this arc and especially what comes after. It was not my intention for him to sound like an asshole, but Sonic here is the kind of person to mean what he says, regardless of what tone he takes unless the situation is lighthearted and playful.
Erebite is the scientific name made up in this continuity for a particular stone that existed in the Archie Comics. It is tied to the Felidae, which do exist in this universe, just not in the same location. Ebony, a character from the Fleetway Comics, was originally from this tribe before leaving to seek better opportunities.
Instead of migrating to Mobotropolis like in the Archie Comics, Nathan "Nate" Morgan was the ambassador of Azuron who used to be head of the Ministry of Science in that kingdom's capital. At some point, he taught as a professor with students such as Charles Hedgehog, Chuck Thorndyke, Nicholas Eddily, and another Mobian that will be revealed at a later date. He passed away sometime during Azuron's collapse.
Mind you, guys, I'm taking a bit of a realistic angle with characters and their lives. I know that these characters are supposed to be timeless cartoon/video game people that aren't supposed to grow up, but here, these folks age and experience life in real-time. So, bear that in mind while reading along.
Oh, and Metallix has come to run the ones with Sonic (and blitz the Freedom Fighters). How exciting!
Anyway, please leave reviews if you have questions, comments, concerns, SUGGESTIONS, and or ideas. And no, I will not be adding characters or certain events because you think they should happen.
For that person who keeps saying that, you know who you are. I'm talking to you.
I gotta go, now. My spring semester in college has just started. Have a blessed day!
