[Location: City of Orario.]
There were too many people gathered around a quite open area near the central square of the city. Many adventurers, supporters and guild members were in that place in order to witness something unprecedented, a duel between the Sword Princess Ais Wallenstein against a mere swordsman brat dressed in green (Link).
Everyone present belonging to other Familias began to whisper among themselves, no one could believe that someone was stupid enough to challenge a member of the Loki Familia to a duel, especially the Sword Princess.
Said Sword Princess was standing at one side of the arena, staring at her opponent while Lefiya, another member of the Loki Familia advised Ais to reconsider her decision to fight. Ais, however, ignored her.
On the other side of the arena was Link, who was preparing his Mirror Shield and Master Sword for combat, Bell was next to his friend, tried to convince him not to duel against Ais Wallenstein.
"H-Hey Link I don't think there's need for this," said Bell, "Ais is one of the most skilled sword fighters in the city and one of most powerful members of the Loki Familia. It's not worth risking yourself to fight her, just to see if she's capable to train me."
Link just smiled and shook his head, as he placed a hand on the white-haired teen's shoulder, "Relax, Bell. I can take care of myself. And besides, this is not the first time I have faced a opponent more stronger than me. I just want to see if she's capable to train you properly, besides I want to see if she's really strong as the rumors say."
It wasn't the first time that Link faced a sword user, in fact the most complicated fight he had was against Odolwa; The Mask Jungle Warrior and the Gerudo pirates of Termina and perfected his sword training with...him.
Despite that, Link couldn't help but realize, that every time he looked into Ais Wallenstein's eyes he could see that she was hiding a negative desire in the depths of her being, he understands that eyes are the windows to the soul and from what he could see, in the depths of Ais's soul lay a desire that he knew perfectly well, the desire for "revenge". Although Link couldn't understand why an adventurer of the Loki Familia, would have that kind of emotion deep inside them.
"Hey! What's going on here??" Asked the voice of a woman, it was the Goddess Loki herself, who had arrived at the place accompanied by three members of her Familia; Finn Deinme, Rivera Ljos Alf and Bete Loga.
"Goddess! I'm glad you arrived in time!" Said Lefiya in panic. "Apparently that elf boy decided to challenge Ais to a duel! Believe me when I tell you that I tried to get both of them to call off the duel, but my attempts fell on deaf ears!"
"Really? Are you telling me that someone had the courage to challenge my precious Ais to a duel?" The goddess asked as she glanced at the opponent, he was an elf boy dressed in a green tunic with a pointy hat, and by her criteria he didn't look like much.
"Tch, you make all this fuss just to see Ais kick the ass of an elf in a skirt? And I thought this would be serious." Bete said as he crossed his arms, feeling slightly annoyed by the situation. "Does that idiot really want to be humiliated that much?"
After finishing examining the elf boy, Goddess Loki turned to Ais and asked her the question of the century. "Ais, tell me which Familia does that elf belong to? I would like to know which god I should laugh at, after he's defeated by your skills."
Ais looked at her goddess with her cold, expressionless eyes and answered. "He belongs to the Hestia Familia."
Before Loki could burst out laughing, the mentioned goddess of heart made an appearance with visible anger and annoyance on her face.
"LINK!! BELL!! WHAT ARE YOU TWO DOING!?" The Goddess of heart exclaimed as she furiously marched towards the two boys.
"G-Goddess, w-well um, uhh…" At that moment Bell got down on his knees apologetically. "It was Link idea!!" He exclaimed, hoping that his excuse would be enough to appease the goddess.
Goddess Hestia narrowed her eyes at Link, her face contorting into a scowl. "Link? Care to explain!?"
"I just wanted to spar with Ais Wallenstein, nothing more, I didn't think it would cause a commotion like this…" Replied the fairy boy.
The goddesswas silent for a few seconds before exclaiming; "YOU WHAT!!?"
From the distance Ais and the other members of the Loki Familia could see Link being scolded by the goddess Hestia. "Jeez, and I thought Bete had short temper…" Said Rivera Ljos Alf causing the wolf to exclaim with a "Hey!"
After finishing scolding Link, goddess Hestia marched towards the goddess of mischief and her Familia, with fury and annoyance in her eyes. "Loki! This whole ordeal was your idea wasn't it!?" Goddess Hestia said, as she accused the redhead goddess in front of her, while pointing a finger at her.
Loki raised an eyebrow, she had a playful glint in her eyes (despite being closed?) while crossing her arms as she replied, "Listen shrimp, this wasn't my idea, but I'm looking forward to see one of your children, get defeated by my dear Ais."
Loki smirked, clearly enjoying the moment. Hestia proceeded to scowl at the Loki Familia, her face was completely red of anger and her eyes flashing with fury, while smoke was coming out of her ears. She insulted Loki for a few seconds before marching towards a nearby bench, where she sat down with a huff.
"Don't you dare lose Link! Ya hear me!? Teach that flat-chested witch's child a lesson!!" Hestia yelled at Link, who just comically sweat-dropped at the goddess's childish request, as he finally finished preparing for the battle.
Both swordsman and swordswoman, walked towards the center of the arena and stared into each other's eyes. Silence fell before both adventurers crossed their swords as a sign of respect and took a few steps back to a certain distance from each other.
Suddenly and without any warning, Ais disappeared in the blink of an eye and quickly reappeared in front of Link, raising her rapier sword to strike. Link was caught off guard by Ais's quick movement, but quickly regained his composure and quickly blocked her attack with his Mirror Shield.
The hero of time used his Mirror Shield to push back Ais's attack, pushing her away from him. He then quickly followed up with a series of foward strikes with his Master Sword, each one causing dodged and blocked by the Sword Princess.
Ais retaliated with a series of quick strikes and dodges, but Link was able to block most of them with his Mirror Shield.
The public around the arena was in awe at the duel between Ais and Link, watching as they moved with grace and precision, their swords clashing in a symphony of steel.
The hero in green jumped foward, trying to deliver a aerial slash with his sword, but Ais was quick to block it with her rapier sword.
'An aerial sword technique? Impressive…' The captain of the Loki Family thought with some interest as he watched the warrior in green robes. 'This kid...where did he learn such swordsmanship?...'
The sword princess quickly responded with a series of swift strikes and dodges, trying to gain the upper hand. Link could barely block her quick attacks with his Mirror Shield, it was difficult to keep up with her movements.
The Sword Princess was a master of the rapier sword, moving with incredible speed and precision. The Hylian managed to counter attack with a lower kick, causing Ais to stumble backwards. She quickly regained her composure and quickly retaliated with a powerful thrust, but Link was able to block it with his Mirror Shield.
Link tried to deliver a horizontal slash, but Ais was able to avoid it with a swift sidestep. The two combatants continued to engage in a fierce battle, their swords clashing and ringing with each other.
Ais decided to activate her magic skill, "Ariel", and unleashed a powerful wind slash at Link. The Hylian quickly raised his Mirror Shield, blocking the attack with difficult, as he was pushed backwards by the force of the wind attack.
Ais took advantage of Link's momentary vulnerability and delivered a series of quick cuts and slashes with her rapier sword, trying to wear down the hero in green, who could barely block them with his Mirror Shield.
The strength of the Sword Princess's powerful strikes managed to make small cracks to appear on the reflective surface of the hero's shield, causing it to vibrate slightly.
Link quickly recovered and returned Ais's attack with a powerful blow from his Master Sword, but the Sword Princess was quick to block it with her rapier sword.
"I have to admit she's good, but not good enough to take me down, especially when she's holding back." The hero of time thought to himself
as he watched Ais continue to move with grace and precision, her rapier sword glinting in the sunlight as she expertly dodged and countered his attacks.
As Link and Ais continue to fight, the hero notice that Ais was using her wind magic to enhance her attacks with her rapier sword, the key to defeat her was to; disarm her or break her blade.
Link decided to take a risk and lunge forward with the master sword, hoping to catch Ais off guard. He swung his sword with all his might, aiming for her rapier sword.
As Link's Master Sword clashed with Ais' rapier sword, the sound of metal colliding rang out through the air, echoing off the walls of the training arena.
The sword princess didn't noticed the small shattering cracks appearing on the surface of her blade, as she was too focused on her the battle.
She expertly dodged Link's attacks and countered with a powerful thrust, but the Hylian managed to block it with his barely standing mirror shield.
The hero of time could see that Ais was starting to tire, her movements becoming slower and less precise. Link knew that he needed to take advantage and act quickly if he wanted to defeat her.
Suddenly the Sword Princess managed to deliver a slash to Link's left check, causing a small cut on his face, and making a little drop of blood impregnate her blade. He instinctively delivered a kick on her stomach, launching the Sword Princess backwards, a few feet of distance from him.
Link decided to finish this fight, once and for all. The Hylian positioned his shield in front of him, while positioning the master sword behind him, as he began to to slowly accumulate energy in his sword.
Ais quickly regained her balance and readied her rapier sword for another attack.
"What the heck is that elf doing!?"
"Does he have a death wish or something!? Cause he isn't moving!!"
"Is that boy crazy!?"
Those were the comments of the spectators as they watched Ais Wallenstein advanced with speed towards the boy in green, who just stood there, maintaining his posture.
The Sword Princess ran quickly, decreasing the distance between her and her opponent, her rapier sword pointing at Link. The hero of time, remained calm and focused, still accumulating energy on the master sword.
The hero continued accumulating energy on his sword, his eyes fixed on Ais, who was getting closer with every step. But he held his posture, as Ais was five feet away from him and getting closer.
Then she was four feet away from him, and Link could see the glint of her rapier sword in the sunlight, as she was now three feet feet away from him.
As Ais got closer and closer, Link finally accumulated enough energy on his sword, and was ready to strike. When the Sword Pincess was a feet away from Link , he swung his sword, releasing the accumulated energy in a powerful spin attack aimed at Ais' rapier sword.
The blade of the Master Sword collided with Ais rapier, shattering it into a thousand pieces. The fragments flew in all directions, leaving Ais Wallenstein stunned and disarmed.
Silence filled the surrounding, as both sword users panted with exhaustion, with the pieces of the Sword Princess's blade spreaded through the entire ground.
Everyone in the crowd was completely shock and dumbfounded, as they just witnessed what had happened, a mere level 3 adventurer dressed in green, managed to defeat the legendary Sword Princess of the Loki Familia, a level 5 adventurer.
Suddenly screams of excitement rumbled throughout the city, announcing what no one thought possible, the Sword Princess Ais Wallenstein was defeated.
Hestia hugged Bell out of excitement, making him blush a little.
Loki and the rest of members of her Familia were speechless and couldn't believe what had happened before their eyes (specially Loki, who saw her beloved Ais being defeated).
Link placed his shattered looking Mirror Shield on his back, and placed the Master Sword back inside its sheath. He turned to face Ais, who looked at him with disbelief and respect, knowing that she had just lost to someone who was a mere level three adventurer.
Link didn't say anything, instead, he simply extended his hand towards Ais, trying to help her get up from the ground. The Sword Princess looked at Link's hand and hesitated for a moment before taking it.
"It was good fight, but you need to improve on your defensive skills. Your attacks were too aggressive which made sword movements very predictable," Link said, looking at Ais before offering a handshake.
Ais hesitated for a moment before shaking his hand, her face still showing her typical inexpressive look but with a glint of respect on her eyes. "You were holding back, weren't you?" She asked, looking at Link with a hint of curiosity in her tone.
Link chuckled softly, "Yes, but I could say the same about you, I noticed that you too we're holding back, from unleashing your full potential." He said, his tone serious but kind. Ais just nodded at the compliment.
"So, you really want to train Bell don't you?" The Hylian asked.
Ais looked at him for a few seconds before answering. "Yes I do, I think that I might be able to develop his potential and fighting skills."
"Well then, it's settled. I'll let you train Bell, you have proven yourself."
Ais looked at Link for a few seconds before nodding. Link began to walk away towards his Goddess and his friend, but before leaving he gave the Sword Princess some important advice.
"A sword wields no strength unless the hand that holds it has courage."
