Bo and Lauren's
Lauren was busy making them a late dinner, so Bo was busy with Ethan. She wasn't sure what would make him smile. She wasn't sure about a lot of things when it came to him. If he will be good. If he will be bad. He's already a little of both given who Bo is. Light and dark. He's beautiful though. Bo knows that. Gorgeous eyes and hair. She smiled as she played with a tiny lock. "You are a wonder, my boy."
"He will be for years." Lauren smiled as she grabbed Bo's hand to pull the three of them to the dining room.
Bo gently placed him down in his crib and took her seat.
"With as busy as we are and will be, I just thought it would be a good idea to keep a crib down here too. We can still see him from our seats." Lauren waved at her son and smiled.
"You don't need to explain because you are right. Our lives will never be dull. But it will be fun learning about him and us as parents." Bo smiled with food in her mouth. The faster she eats, the sooner she can get back to Ethan.
"I know it's still early but late. So, I found what I could and threw it together." Lauren poked at her plate.
"This is really good, Lauren. We do need to go and get groceries. Stock up on baby formula, wipes and diapers." Bo took a sip of water. She didn't want their son smelling liquor on her. He probably has already.
"I have a list hanging on the cupboard. Look at it and see if there's something that I have forgotten." Lauren pointed behind her with a fork.
"I seriously doubt you have forgotten anything. But I will definitely look." Bo smiled wide.
Lauren looked at Bo. She looks so nervous and uncertain. Something rare for the Succubus. She winced thinking back to when she broke up with Bo. Then things happened and it all went to shit. It is no wonder the succubus still has doubts. Nothing seems certain. Nothing seems permanent. "We'll be fine." She said out of the blue.
Bo's eyes shot over to Lauren. She noticed the tone and meaning in her words. "I know." She whispered.
"Hey, let's eat and settle down for a movie." Lauren perked up. If she stayed solemn, so would Bo.
Bo nodded and dug back into her food. She looked at Ethan every now and then. He was asleep the last time she looked and so she focused on eating with the blonde.
Lauren raised her head when there was a knock at the door. "Stay here, I'll get it."
Bo stood and walked over to Ethan. She had just told Aife they weren't ready to announce his arrival yet. So, she was sure her mother wasn't about to break her promise to keep it a secret.
"Aife requests you both, outside." Lou Ann smiled.
"We're eating dinner." Bo stood behind Lauren.
Aife walked up to the house and pulled Lou Ann back. "This is not the right time."
"Call first, next time. Okay, mom?." Bo mimicked a phone.
"I will, in the morning." Aife nodded as she walked away from the door.
'Well, that was weird. Since when does Aife send someone to our door?." Lauren closed the doors.
"I'm sorry about that Lauren." Bo shook her head.
"No. It's okay. There must be something she wants us to know. Something important." Lauren rubbed the back of her head.
"I'll call her. After we have finished dinner and that movie." Bo shook her head again. They are finally getting on with the life she has always dreamed of. The Fae were already trying to interfere. Even if said Fae is Aife, Lou Ann and Mason, probably.
"Bo!?". Lauren shot up in her seat.
"Shh, Lauren. Ethan." Bo whispered through a smile.
"Sam, Bo. We've forgotten about him. He'd want to know about Ethan. He's not Fae. He's not an immediate threat." Lauren smiled.
"Well damn. In all the confusion, I'd forgotten about him. Yes. Of course, we will tell him." Bo smiled and squeezed Lauren's hand.
"Well, it's good he's sleeping. We have a long night ahead of us." Lauren hurried to finish eating. She was done before Bo and called to have Sam brought to them. His house has been ready and she was ready to have him there. Besides her and Ethan, he's probably the only one that Bo can relax around.
Bo felt like shit. She'd forgotten about Sam. She forgot about her good father. Even when her mother showed up. Aife is not as pure as Sam, but she tries. She tries for Bo. Now she felt like shit for kicking the woman off of their porch. She sighed and pulled her phone out. Their plates and glasses are empty, dinner is over. The women cleaned up while they waited for their guests to arrive. Bo kept a close, close eye on Ethan. He's the only thing that is legitimately hers. Nobody is ever going to take him, Lauren or their other kids from them. She knows there is going to be more. A lot more.
"I think we are ready." Lauren smiled as she washed her hands.
"We don't have to do this tonight, Lauren." Bo walked towards the woman.
"Yes, we do. We can take a full day to ourselves tomorrow. Just like this day has been, so far." Lauren replied.
The women stood looking at each other. Then held each other with baby snores in the background.
"They won't be long. We'll introduce them to Ethan. Let them see him and then they can go. There's no need for a full on family gathering tonight. Sam is welcome to stay over and we can take him to his house first thing in the morning. I won't disturb my son's night any further than what we do in the next few hours." Bo whispered in Lauren's ear. The doctor is always so warm. She's Bo's favorite blanket.
"That sounds good to me." Lauren danced with Bo. May as well. There is nothing else to do. Her nose tells her their house is spotless. So clean, a Doctor could eat off of the floor.
Vex's
The Mesmer groaned. "What?! He screamed as he opened the door.
"Get dressed. The three of you are coming with me." Mason walked in and looked around. They could use a few maids.
"What are you doing here? I don't take orders from you." Vex scoffed.
Mason growled towards him. Vex backed up. This isn't Dyson. He's still new to Vex. Someone he can't afford to piss off. Dyson was a coward. He'd only grab Vex, he was never bold enough to swing at him. He'd been that way since he and Trick surfaced. The Dark often wondered what kept him so loyal to the bartender. It wasn't until Bo told him who Trick really was that he understood why the wolf was so loyal. Upsetting the Blood King could cause limbs to be lost or worse.
"Wake up your girls too." Mason walked around. He wouldn't dare sit on anything in his house. It reeks of pizza and booze. "Make sure you all brush your teeth and gargle. You aren't going anywhere with me smelling like shit."
Vex rolled his eyes. If this boy wasn't one of Aife's henchmen, he'd push him out the door. But seeing the small gang of cars outside tells him the man means business. It took so long to convince Kenzi to get up that he had to use his Mesmer to get her up and into the bathroom. He paced and paced while the women dressed.
"Good boy. Let's go. We've wasted enough time." Mason pushed the three out the doors and didn't bother locking up behind them.
"If you don't hurry the hell up, Aife will have our asses!." Lou Ann screamed.
"Step on it!." Mason screamed. They weren't late, late but close to it.
Kenzi groaned the whole way. Tamsin poked her to behave or they would be out on their asses in the bitter cold.
"Everyone ready?." Mason asked Lou Ann.
"Aife's not too far ahead of us. But yes, everyone is ready." Lou Ann replied.
"Good." Mason wiped his brow. He adores Aife but the old Succubus would kill him, if she ever needs to.
She reminds him of the old Queen. Her legend anyway. Queen Isabeau was a good woman. That was known around the Fae world. But once she was murdered something in Aife snapped and it never snapped back into place afterwards. Not even when she found Bo. There is a pure softness and affection between them, but other than that, Aife still misses her mother. Which is probably why she goes above and beyond trying to be a good mother to Bo. If she's a grandmother like they suspect, their gang is about to get a bigger, a lot bigger. But nobody that will ever have the aspirations of toppling the succubus. Their lives are pretty good. They are afforded a lot and get to be Aife's right and left hands.
Aife
"I don't know what you've been told, and frankly, I don't give a shit. But you are here for one reason to serve me. To do as you are told. You are not to disobey any order given to you by me, Mason or Lou Ann. They follow my orders. Whatever you are told to do, you will do it. As far as Vex, no loss there. You aren't to use your Mesmer on any of us. If you need to stop him from doing something, you will stop him. He's claimed two humans. Their lives don't mean shit to me. But one of them means something to my daughter, so be careful how you handle Kenzi. Tamsin? Whatever.
You were brought to me to protect my immediate family. That means the entire Lewis-Dennis house and anywhere they may need protecting. These are gorgeous women. Don't think about coming on to them. They are loving, I am not. If you even think of crossing that line, Mesmer yourself and slice your throat. Because if you don't, I will". Aife explained.
The old Mesmer looked around. He thought he had hidden far off the Fae radar. He didn't want this life anymore. He certainly didn't want to be mixed up with a crazy Succubus. He is not certain this is the Succubus he thinks she is, but he will keep quiet until he knows more. She smells like the old King. But he can't be sure she's Trick's.
"My name is Aife McCorrigan. You should know what that means. I'm Trick's daughter and your name is shit to me, so don't bother introducing yourself. I trust Mason and Lou Ann, that's why you're sticking to me like flies to rat shit.". Aife pulled her hair into a tight ponytail.
They finally pulled up to Bo's house and Aife turned her head and smiled. "Sam! What are you doing here?". She jumped from her truck.
"Aife. It has been too long." Sam bowed to the woman.
"Oh stop it. What are you doing here? I would have had you flown in." The succubus patted his back playfully.
"Seriously, Lauren called me. As you can see, she's taking good care of me." Sam pointed towards his own entourage.
"Well, we have a huge group outside." Lauren turned to Bo.
"How do you want to handle this?". Bo rocked Ethan in her arms.
"Well, Sam needs to know. Aife can come in. The rest don't need to know." Lauren shrugged.
"I won't let them near our son, Lauren. I promise you that." Bo noted Kenzi and Tamsin were outside.
"That hadn't crossed my mind. I just meant there are a lot of people out there. Not all of them need to darken our doorstep." Lauren went towards the doors and opened it. "Aife. Sam. Come in." She smiled. Bo walked into the living room. It was warmer there.
"I think I know why he's here, but I will let you tell him." Aife gently pushed Sam forward.
"What? What don't I know?." Sam smiled.
"We're parents now". Bo smiled as Sam entered the living area.
"What? How?." Sam smiled.
"I think you know how." Bo blushed at the thought.
"Of course, but I meant how are you a mother so soon. It hasn't been nine months." Sam laughed.
"We're not normal. Bo is beyond any scientific study. She could have been pregnant and never showed symptoms. If that helps you understand, Sam." Lauren walked to stand by Bo.
"And since they are not normal, I've taken on assembling a security team. To guard them." Aife stepped forward.
"Who?." Lauren asked.
"You know Vex is a Mesmer. Well, Mason and Lou Ann tracked down his day old daddy and he's outside. In my personal truck." Aife replied.
"Oh. I thought he was dead." Lauren raised her eyebrows.
"I did too. But it's him. I made him prove it on the way over here. He's strong. Really strong." Aife smiled at Sam standing awkwardly around Bo. "You can hold him, old boy."
"Of course." Bo smiled as she gently stepped to Sam and made sure he had Ethan before she let go.
"He looks just like you did as a baby." Sam smiled.
"Then he's going to be gorgeous". Aife teased Bo.
Lauren stood watching Sam and Ethan. Her eyes went wide when his skin started to change colors. "Who's here?."
"Who's where?." Bo looked around.
"Look at Ethan, Bo. He's warming up. Something is bothering him. Sam, go upstairs." Lauren gestured.
"Lauren?." Bo tensed as she looked around the room.
"Please Sam. It's for the best.". Lauren spoke softer. Although her tone was deep.
Bo watched the doctor close her eyes. When they opened they were swirling blue and red. "Mom? Who did you bring here?."
"I'll answer that." Lauren walked outside. The group went silent from the colors circling in the Doctor's eyes. "Got him." She pulled the Mesmer from Aife's truck.
Vex coughed. "What the hell is this?!." He screamed.
"He's your father. Did you really think Trick would tell you the truth? Aife laughed.
"That bloody blood king. If he weren't already dead!." Vex screamed.
"This means nothing to you, Vex. Your father is under my command." Aife replied. Although presently, that's not exactly true. Lauren still had a death grip around his neck.
"What else are you? Tell me and I won't look into the future and see if you're lying.". Lauren gritted her teeth.
"Lauren." Bo spoke softly. "He can't answer you if his mouth can't move."
Lauren shrugged. "Then I'll get it another way." The group gasped when Lauren started to rub the top of his head. "Get him out of here, Aife." She dropped him on his ass.
"What did you find out?." Aife asked.
"Do you want to tell them or shall I?." Lauren asked.
"Vex wasn't to blame for Lou Ann's children being murdered. I ordered the hit. I used to date Evony, when she found out what I was planning she sent Vex to do it before I could. So her role as the Morrigan could be secured. I confided in the local bartender who later revealed to me to be the Blood King. He hid me from the Una Mens so they wouldn't execute me. They would have to kill him too if they knew he was hiding someone from facing their justice." He answered with three women breathing in his face.
"Get him out of here. He's a child killer." Bo spat.
"Already done." Lauren shut her eyes. When she opened them again, the man was no longer surrounded by them but black smoke.
"No!." Vex screamed as he used his Mesmer to try and pull the man free. He dropped to the ground when he failed. "He was my father!."
"I can send you to him, if you'd like." Lauren said over her shoulder. "He's not dead."
"Go home ,Vex. Go home all of you." Bo followed Lauren inside. Aife followed Bo.
"I didn't know, Lauren. I honestly didn't. I thought that man was dead for years. Just like everyone else did." Aife walked step for step with them.
"I appreciate what you were trying to do, Aife. But we will be fine. We don't need people we can't trust around us." Lauren looked for Ethan and Sam.
Aife looked at Bo. When the young Succubus nodded, she knew it was okay.
"Sam, you are welcome to stay here for the night since it's late. We wanted you to meet your grandson. Aife met him this afternoon." Lauren took a seat with Bo following her.
"Can I sleep in here?." Sam asked.
"Of course. I'll get you some blankets." Lauren smiled. He wants to sleep in Ethan's nursery.
"She loves you Bo. There is something so pure about that love. I never came close to that with your mother. You two are going to be wonderful mothers." Sam smiled.
"You can babysit whenever you like. Just make sure we are given plenty of notice." Bo smiled at Ethan.
"Of course". They stood over Ethan's crib watching him watch them.
An hour later
"She's a grandmother now. She had to give me up to protect me. She wouldn't bring anyone bad around him or us." Bo cooed into Lauren's ear.
"I know. I trust Aife. But tomorrow, we will start scouting for our own security." Lauren pulled the woman into her arms.
"Did you see that?." Tamsin asked.
"She killed my father. I saw it." Vex bristled from the front seat.
"She said he's not dead. So, no she didn't. He's just not here. You don't want to push her Vex. We all saw how powerful Lauren is. We aren't dealing with just a Fae. We are dealing with a human scientist turned Fae." Tamsin explained.
Vex used his powers to keep her mouth shut. Kenzi had fallen asleep. So he didn't need to use his other hand. There has to be a way to melt Lauren's heart so she will return his father to him. He just has to think of it first.
