Talismans: Messengers Fall

As the skies turned red and the ocean levels increased, multiple schisms, tears in space and time, appeared in the water and air, releasing seven creatures that hadn't been seen in millennia, sending pillars of red light into the sky.

"We're free!" A small, winged gremlin or imp declared! "We're finally free again!"

"Aaaurgh!" A large, greenish monster with stubby limbs roared, falling into the red water.

It was then pulled up by another creature that resembled an insect or anteater dressed in red and purple robes, exhibiting some sort of telekinetic power.

"This world is being ravaged," the creature expressed. "Something has happened here. Something that is unlike what we would've done."

A bluish-white mermaid with tentacles for hair rose out of the water and created platforms for two other creatures, one of which looked like a brutish minotaur while the other looked like a bluish, reptilian humanoid dressed in armor.

"This madness was brought upon the world by the humans that dwell in it," a large, toad-like creature revealed, floating in a cyclone of air.

"Humans never learn to treasure their pathetic world," the green giant uttered. "Has anyone seen that treacherous Shendu anywhere?"

"He must've slithered away like the fiendish snake that he is," the minotaur suggested. "Shendu and his misbegotten son."

"What is that?" The winged being pointed over to something happening far away from where they were.

A large pair of red, transparent, wing-like structures were reaching high into the sky, with small, red, sphere-like constructs being cascaded aside.

"Human souls being discarded into the void," went the anteater in robes, "and an almighty being falling from grace."

Suddenly, ten beams of light shot up into the sky around the wings, attracting the seven beings.

"What is a divine being to a Demon Sorcerer?" The one in armor asked, smirking.

"Nothing but a fallen failure," the mermaid-like one answered. "If we're going to be in this maimed world, we might as well increase our power while we're at it."

"Ten beings of divinity," the green giant uttered, "and seven of us."

If she was stating this because some of them wanted more power than the others, then it was a challenge to see who achieved the most in gaining power.

In the end, some were contempt with less power than they had expected to obtain. This was especially since these seven demons were selective of which beings they wanted for themselves. And with ten of them having individual representations and symbolisms, it was no problem deciding who got what.

Bai Tza, the Water Demon Sorceress took the Angels of Water and Fish, as they related to her water elemental powers and increased her abilities to greater levels than they were previously.

Po Kong, the Mountain Demon Sorceress claimed the Angel of Might for herself, as she needed to be the strongest, and had to best her brother, Dai Gui, who also wanted that particular Angel.

Dai Gui, the Earth Demon Sorcerer, losing to his sister the rights to Zeruel, had to settle for Shamshel, the Angel of Day. His power increase wasn't large at first, but he felt stronger than he was before he was banished to the Netherworld.

Tchang Zu, the Thunder Demon Sorcerer received the power of Ramiel, the Angel of Thunder.

Hsi Wu, the Sky Demon Sorcerer, losing his chance to acquire more than one source of power in a battle between himself and Xiao Fung, had to settle for Sahaquiel, the Angel of Sky, but then discovered that even just one of these Angels had given him an increase in size, both in physicality and ego.

Xiao Fung, the Wind Demon Sorcerer laid claim to Arael, the Angel of Birds, thinking that it would be all that he'd need to become invincible, only to find his wind-manipulating abilities only became twice as strong instead of exponentially strong. It was only after he consumed Bardiel, the Angel of Hail, did he become much more powerful than he had anticipated.

And Tso Lan, the Moon Demon Sorcerer, was left with the Angels of Music and Womb, not his choices, but they were better than nothing, and his increased powers were a bonus for when he decided to make his move in the future.

"Now that we're stronger, what now?" Dai Gui asked his siblings.

"For now, we bide our time," Tso Lan insisted. "We go our own ways and make our plays on the humans as we take their world and make it our own."

"I shall look for a new underwater empire," Bai Tza declared.

"A mountain among mountains shall serve as my new home," Po Kong decided.

"Until we meet again," Hsi Wu told his siblings and flew away.

"I shall live among the humans for a time until I gather what information I can from them on the state of the world," Tchang Zu informed them and walked away on a thundercloud.

All seven of the Angel-empowered Demon Sorcerers went their separate ways, but swore an oath to meet again once they needed to ascertain the whereabouts of Shendu and Drago…only to do away with them for their deception and inability to be trustworthy.

"Aaaurgh!" A human-sized, dragon-like man gasped as he emerged from the lifeless ocean and crawled onto the parched land in front of him. "Huh?! Wha… Where am I?!"

It was Drago, the son of Shendu, returned to his original state, deprived of the demon chi he had acquired from the items belonging to seven of the Eight Immortals that banished his aunts and uncles. Somehow, he had escaped from the Netherworld. Escaped…or was somehow expelled from that prison dimension in the conflict with his father, who had to have escaped, as well. But if he was stripped of the demon chi belonging to his aunts and uncles, there was no doubt that Shendu had been stripped of his talismans in this world that had to belong to the humans. All he had to do was get his bearings and gain strength over time as he recovered from his fight with his father. If he was fortunate, time was on his side.

To be continued…

A/N: And now we know that the Demon Sorcerers were all banished into the Eva universe, and they took the power of the Angels into themselves to become stronger. But comes the new question: Where are they now?
