*Important Note

Jujutsu Kaisen is made by Gege Akutami

Second part (technically chapter 1) is now out.

I wanted to mention it now but this story is basically an entirely separate timeline from the main JJK one. If Yuuta were just placed in during Shibuya there really wouldn't be much of an interesting story to tell. So that why I'm having him arrive early, with extra conflict happening in the background to make Jujutsu Society feel more detailed.

I said previously that the story would be Yuuta centric and I still believe this but even though Yuuta is my Favorite character in JJK I think his role is perfect as a sort of "Side character" even though he has more significance than that in the actual story. So this fic will split the focus amongst the 4 characters listen at the top (Yuuta, Yuuji, Megumi, Maki). It probably wont be split exactly equal but roughly enough.

If there is any easy solution that Yuuta may pose to a problem that was originally presented in canon I'm probably going to change the scenario around so that there are stakes.

Chapters will start getting longer and longer which means the chapters will come out slower. but they should usally be out within a couple days of each other.

As always leave any Criticism, suggestion or compliment in reviews if you want.

Chapter 1

September 27th 6:34 AM

Megumi Fushiguro was thankful for many things; his sister, his annoying friends, and even begrudgingly thankful for Satoru Gojo for saving him and his sister from the Zen'in.

One more thing Megumi was thankful for was being an early riser.

Since he was a kid he had always woken up early, it didn't matter if he went to bed right as it was getting dark or if it took until long past midnight. Tsumiki would always nag him about it, "A disciplined sleep schedule would lighten your mood" she would say innocently, even though there wasn't anything wrong with his mood. He liked getting up early anyway, which meant he had time to himself. Sometimes he would read, when he used to be in school he had time to study, and if he wanted to have some time to himself for introspection he had that as well.

He didn't know exactly when this habitual routine began, after his cursed father left him and his sister he never had the ability to rest easy, sure he had the assurance from Satoru but the idea of owing anyone anything didn't sit right with megumi.

That absent father of his was probably off enjoying an entirely new life, without a care in the world for the one he left behind.

'Damnit'

He did morning introspection and mediation like this to avoid his thoughts getting entangled in meaningless bullshit like this.

He uncrossed the arms behind his head, moving his gaze to the side to get a glimpse of the digital alarm clock at his bedside.

'6:04 AM'

He is honestly surprised he is able to wake up at his usual hour given the events that had taken place last night.

Kugisaki has insisted that the second years and themselves all play a game of monopoly for "team building", which made no sense if you thought about it. Panda and Toge seemed to be all in on it, leaving Maki to simply shrug and agree as long as she had a bag of chips to herself. That left himself, he absolutely had no desire to play a board game that could last for way over an hour. It was already 10:30 PM and they had to get up early for routine training at 7:30 in the morning.

To avoid the disapproving look of his seniors he opted to be the banker. As expected the game lasted an hour and a half, Panda ended up barely beating out Kugisaki. By the end of the game it was clear everyone was exhausted and wanted to go to sleep.

'Tch. so much for team building' he had thought at the time. If anything it caused more arguments than inspire any teamwork.

He chuckled at the memory.

As he sat up from his position in bed he reached for his phone. It read 1 new message from Satoru Gojo. He sent the text before they started playing that stupid game, had no one seen it that whole time?

Ah, that's right. Phones were going to disrupt the "Team building", according to Kugisaki, so everyone had to shut them off.

As he opened his phone and motioned over to the goodwill event group chat. He wondered if any of the others had seen the message before they went to bed.

His inquiry was answered immediately.

'Jus wanted to let you all know you guys know Yuuta is coming back tomorrow'

There was no way in hell anyone else had read the texts. The second year students probably would've been up to an extra 30 minutes asking for elaboration. Said elaboration would never come because the blindfolded idiot clearly wanted this to be a surprise.

Megumi would be happy to see Okkotsu again. He was hard working, kind, and selfless almost to a fault. He said it to Kugisaki weeks ago and he still stood by his words, out of all the second years Okkotsu had earned his respect the most.

The faint smile on his face disappeared as the next thought formed in his head, 'I bet Itadori and him would have been good friends'. It had been a while since the passing of his classmate of only a week or so. Regardless of how long he had known Itadori he knew in that short span that he had earned his respect without a shadow of a doubt.

'6:19 AM' the clock now reads.

He should probably get himself ready for training in an hour.

Elsewhere…

Yuuta was nervous, he knew he shouldn't be but he really couldn't help himself. It had been months since he last saw his friends. It had been months since he shared a laugh with them, months since he played a simple game of cards against Panda and Inumaki, months since getting his ass kicked by Maki in sparring sessions.

Did they miss him as much as he missed them?

He was probably just psyching himself out, of course they missed him. They were all sad to see him leave back in January. As Ichiji drove the limo transporting him to the grounds of Tokyo jujutsu high his mind replayed that day all those months ago.

January 17th, 2018… [Flashback]

This was definitely an instance in life where you could swear there was a higher power playing a sick joke on everyone.

Of course on the day he was set to take his flight to Kenya, and leave all the friends he had just made behind, it would be raining. Maybe others would see it as a sign that nature itself related to their struggles and feelings, but it just made Yuuta feel mocked. The world never cared for anyones feelings, it would revolve on its axis unchanging no matter how sad someone could be.

He sat in the seat of the airport and waited patiently for the plane to open for passengers.

He had to say goodbye to everyone before he left for the airport. Apparently it was one of his new teachers non negotiables that he be as far away from the school and anyone associated with it.

It was emotional. He knew this day was coming for more than 2 weeks and had time to prepare his emotions. Even then it didn't stop his voice from cracking as he bid each of his classmates farewell. Panda had told him to take it easy and that everyone will be waiting for him when he gets back, Toge had agreed and chimed in saying that they look forward to seeing him again.

He couldn't help but chuckle as Maki's last words went through his mind; "You better come back stronger, you'll need it if you want to ever get a win against me". It didn't sound as nice to the ears as what his other friends had said but that was just how she did things. The beautiful yet sad smile on her face conveyed the intent behind her words; that she was genuinely going to miss him.

He said one last goodbye and was about to begin his journey to the front of the school where Ichiji and Gojo were waiting for him. Before he could even turn around Panda literally pulled them all into a bear hug.

It took all of 2 seconds for Yuuta to feel like he was suffocating.

"Panda…thanks..but" He struggled to get out as he was having trouble getting air into his lungs.

A strained "salmon" came out of the cursed speech user as well, showing that he too was growing uncomfortable

"Panda. Let. Go." was all Maki had said and thankfully it seemed to be enough as Panda immediately let go out of fear with a look that displayed his terror.

A few more words were exchanged and with one last gaze at the people who had changed his life he resolved himself to come back Stronger and better so that he would never have to live an event like what happened on December 24th again. He would never again be the reason his friends had to suffer.

When he made it to the entrance of the school and entered the limousine with Gojo it started to drizzle. Now sitting in the airport It was pouring down with no remorse.

Miguel, his new Jujutsu sorcery teacher, sat opposite to him on the line of seats across from him. He also kept sending him weird looks, almost like he was trying to study him.

Definitely was starting to get uncomfortable.

The dark skinned sorcerer was made an offer by his former teacher; he would be forgiven of his crimes if he would allow Yuuta to continue to learn jujutsu sorcery while in Kenya. Of course he had agreed immediately, it would allow the incriminated sorcerer a way to escape imprisonment/execution and protect his homeland.

Yuuta wished he had a say in the matter. He wished he had shown he could control his own cursed energy but alas it was no use. Maybe if he could take advantage of his natural talents he would still be with his friends.

Urgh. He was thinking of himself in circles. He needed a distraction or else he might let his own self-loathing get the better of him.

Thankfully a distraction came when his new teacher finally attempted to speak to him.

"You're actually Okkotsu"

Yuuta looked up to find Miguel looking at him. Yuuta was confused, he had said it in such a matter-of-fact way but it still felt like the man was surprised by his own words.

"Y-yeah"

Another moment of silence passed before he responded.

"I expected something…different"

"Oh, sorry if Gojo made me out to be something remarkable"

"No, you definitely have a strong presence with that enormous energy of yours. What I mean is that you look at lot weaker then I would have Imagined"

weak? I guess he was right, he didn't have the appearance of someone who once had the ability to "Overthrow a country".

"I'm going to get stronger" came out of him suddenly. He didn't mean to say what he was thinking. He knew he shouldn't be embarrassed at all but it was an old habit of his to avoid eye contact in an uncomfortable situation like this.

Miguel only responded with a half chuckle.

The intercoms in his seating area then came on to let him know it was time to board the plane.

As he and Miguel stood next to each other in line he heard Miguel say "Okkotsu, I might be able to help you achieve your wish" referring to his words earlier. Yuuta had previously had his doubts about whether or not he could trust Miguel and while he didn't really know him at all he felt like he could trust the words that he had spoken to him.

As he looked at his new teacher, his resolve intensified. He wanted with every ounce of his soul to never become a burden and to never let his talents go to waste. If this man could help him achieve that goal then he would gladly accept his guidance.

Current time…

A full smile was on his face, Miguel had definitely kept his word to him. After all the months he had to fully immerse himself in his own jujutsu studies, along with the extra months of time he had at jujutsu high before leaving the country, he found himself a special grade sorcerer once again.

Yuuta was surprised to learn in his time in Kenya that he truly was a prodigy. He was a very fast learner with a mind practically made for understanding cursed techniques and the more elaborate details of sorcery.

Miguel theorized it had to do with his own innate technique Copy.

The use of his cursed technique required proficient use of the brain. In order to use a cursed technique in the first place you would need to understand how it works. It was kind of like riding a bike, the process would be unfamiliar at the start but through trials and repetitive practice your mind will build connections that link all the steps of riding a bike together to the point where you hardly have to think about it. A cursed technique was no different. From applying cursed energy, to manipulating it, and then activating the technique. Some techniques were more complicated and had additional "steps" towards using them while others were simple with activation being the only step needed.

Normally the ability to copy cursed techniques would come with the burden of having to study relentlessly in order to understand the technique and use it later on. This would've made applying the ability on the fly in the heat of battle practically impossible.

Fortunately Yuuta was gifted with a strong intellect capable of exponential learning on the fly. His innate technique naturally allowed him the potential to learn anything sorcery related at a highly advanced pace in order to make up for the possible disadvantage.

It made him wonder why his understanding of cursed energy grew so little while at jujutsu high. He didn't even know he had a cursed technique until he fought Suguru Geto. Sure he had grown tremendously in physicality and strength, Maki basically made it a point of emphasis when they first started sparring, but how had he never stumbled upon his own ability.

Could it have been because of Rika?

Rika.

The memory of the large white curse emerging from the shadows as he trained on a hot sunny day in the Kenya climate passed through his thoughts.

Seeing her again had sent him into a whirl of emotions at first. He was shocked beyond all belief. He thought he had set her free, he saw her pass on and her spirit lay to rest. So he couldn't help but to wonder how she was before him now.

Did he fail her again?

As he would discover it was not really Rika. It was Rika's last will to leave Yuuta apart of herself so that she might still be able to protect him. The curse that now followed him in his own shadows and cursed energy was more or less a shikigami, but the knowledge that Rika was still looking out for him even now made him happy.

"45 more minutes it looks like Yuuta. Sorry but it seems like traffic is the worst it's been in the past couple days, even at this early hour" Ichiji remarked apologetically.

"It's alright, I could wait another 5 hours as long as I knew I would eventually see everyone again" Yuuta offered back with a laugh

'7:02 AM his watch read. I wish I could text everyone but Gojo did say he wanted this to be a surprise. I wonder what everyone is up to'.

Tokyo Jujutsu High…

Only around 5 minutes until training was supposed to begin and still everyone was a no show except for himself.

Megumi supposed he shouldn't be surprised that everyone was a little slow to get up on this specific day. He definitely should've known as much and brought a book with him to the track and field to ease his boredom.

Ironically right as he was pondering returning to his room he heard the shout of Kugisaki.

"Fushiguuuurooooo" She hollered at him from across the field.

Sigh

He responded when she finally would be close enough to hear him.

"Yes Kugisaki?"

"You saw the text from Gojo right?"

"Of course"

"Well"

"..."

"WELL?" she said emphatically a second time.

"Well what? What do you want me to say" he relayed back calmly

"You know Okkotsu so tell me about him" the girl asked

"I know him but remember I'm a first year student just like you, I wasn't a classmate of his. I just encountered him quite a number of times due to our mutual connection to Gojo." His answer was clear and concise as always.

"Well where are the second years and why haven't they texted at all about it?" Kugisaki responded back with equal amounts of confusion.

"Your teamwork exercise idea exhausted them, you also made them shut off their phones"

"Oh, right. But back to what I was saying earlier, tell me about him"

Megumi's brow twitched a bit in annoyance.

"Ask Zen'in all these questions, She's the one that knows him the best by far"

He regretted the words as soon as they left his mouth. He really needed that morning meditation. A quick glance at Kugisaki and he could practically see the gears turning in her head, plotting a way to use his words against him.

"She knows him well does she?"

"Well yes but-"

"Maki never mentioned that she had a boyfriend"

"He's not her-"

"I'll have to ask her about this"

"Stop interrupting-"

Before he could finish his sentence he was cut off again by the last voice he wanted to hear.

'I should've just answered her damn questions, I should've heard the second years approaching'

Why was this his life?

"Tell who what?" Maki Zen'ins brazen voice cut in.

"Yeah what are you guys talking about?" Panda asked with an accompanying 'Tuna' from Toge.

The second years had chosen the worst time possible to show up. Each dressed in their normal training attires.

Megumi Looked to Nobara one last time trying to convey the silent message of peace, but it seems like the message was never received.

"Well Fushiguro here was just telling me about your boyfriend, Maki" Kugisaki said innocently as she looked towards her friend.

A surprised "Huh?" was all that came out of the spear user.

Panda looked stuck between exploding with laughter and genuine confusion, like he was waiting for the punchline to one of his favorite jokes. Inumaki was also stifling some laughter at the situation.

Maki Herself now looked thoroughly displeased at what she was hearing. She didn't have a boyfriend so the idea of someone spreading rumors about her was not something she would let stand.

"You know, Okkotsu?" Nobara continued

And there it was, the plentiful laughter from Panda. It could probably be heard all over campus. "You hear that Maki? It sounds like even Fushiguro and Kugisaki have caught on. You don't have to hide your feelings from your friends" Panda teased.

Nobara definitely didn't expect this reaction from the second year. The loud guffaws and teasing from panda, chuckles from Toge, and blatant blush on Maki's own face gave Nobara reason to question if maybe the whole thing had some truth to it.

"Wait for real? I was only joking earlier" Nobara said seriously.

Before Maki could get a word in, however, Panda cut in. "Oh yes, you see last year the two of them were practically inseparable, Yuuta even said that Maki was his type"

Nobara's eyes widened as she heard his words. Sadly Maki had reached her limit.

"ENOUGH! No, Yuuta is not my boyfriend and everything that Panda is saying is highly exaggerated!"

"He literally told me that he liked-"

"SHUT IT!"

She then directed her anger at megumi, who had been waiting for a moment where he could slip away and avoid impending doom. Things were never so easy when he was involved though.

"Megumi picked up a sword now" she said as she furiously walked towards the field.

He hoped she meant the wooden ones reserved for normal training but seemed like she was already working on unzipping the bag that contained her spear.

'Why me?' he thought with dread.

He accepted his fate and began to rise and collect a sword when, for the second time in his life, Satoru Gojo appeared to save the day.

He had teleported to the field where they knew he would be. A wide smirk all over his face.

"How are you this morning my exceptional students?"

Maki just continued to stare daggers at Megumi while Nobara spectated from the sideline, highly entertained no doubt. The only students that responded were Panda and Toge with a 'im doin alright' and "salmon' respectively.

"So are you guys excited or what?" Gojo asked with a giddy voice looking at all his students.

He got confused when none of them responded immediately.

"The exchange event isn't for another week" Panda said aloud in confusion, "What are we supposed to be excited about today?"

"Wait, you guys didn't see my message?"Gojo asked the small crowd of students. Even though his eyes were covered by his blindfold it was clear he was disappointed.

"Me and Kugisaki saw it," Megumi responded.

"HA! That's funny. I guess I'll have to spoil the news for the second years myself" he stated before clearing his throat dramatically.

"On this day-"

"Out with it already idiot" Maki harshly bit out.

"Yuuta will be here in like 20 minutes"

Gojo would say the collective shock on everyone's face, save for megumi, would compensate for his text message being unreceived.

Woodlands of Japan…

The bright sunshine weaved seamlessly between the trees, giving the forest an almost golden glow in the mornings.

At this hour in the morning most people wouldn't be found meandering through the deep untouched forest, let alone a sorcerer. But that is the precise scenario the old elderly woman Ogami found herself in now.

She traversed slowly through the area until she reached her destination. The location left all her victims to rot.

She kept the fresh bodies of those she killed as well. Who knew when she would need a free body to use her technique.

"Hello Ms. Ogami, it's a pleasure to see you once again" a sly voice came from behind her.

She turned around to find Suguru Geto staring down at her, an eerie grin on his face.

Fear and shock travel all throughout her body.

"Geto, I-I thought y-you had said October 31st was the date my services would be needed." Her voice came out hesitantly, clearly intimidated by the appearance of the special grade sorcerer.

From inside the body of the deceased sorcerer Kenjaku enjoyed her nervous reaction. The old woman was a very useful player in this game.

If the forces of Jujutsu High were going to bring back one of their strongest pieces to the board it was only fair he had his own to move around as well.

"I'm guessing you recovered the information and materials required to use your technique on him, correct?" Kenjaku asked the old woman, who was still trembling slightly.

"Y-yes, Now that I have what I needed my seance technique will allow him to move and act as he once did. The Ghost of the Zen'in clan"

Author's Note

Hope the YutaMaki wasn't too on the nose, best to kind of establish it early so it doesn't come as a surprise when it gets developed later on. For those simply looking for an interesting read don't worry the background romance wont detract from the story (I hope).

Also I just wanted to include a scene where all the Jujutsu high students had a little fun teasing each other. Show them interacting and stuff.

Leave criticism and feedback in reviews, they will always be a help.
