In the kitchen, Luz was in the kitchen getting her laptop out so she could record the next entry in her video diary. "Dear diary. Today is July 7th." She sighed. "I sometimes forget how long it's been since everyone has been here. Five….Six months? We went to the Pride Parade and it was a load of fun. Except for the part where one of the parade floats ran over Marcy's foot leading to around 26 broken bones. We also watched one of my Dad's favourite movies, Hocus Bogus for a bit of a movie night. About some boring teenager being chased by a bunch of witches. Let's say that Amity didn't find our representation of witches to be pleasing. We had a fun Fourth of July with the Wus but Marcy accidentally set her jumper on fire from the barbecue stove so she had some more injuries. Just, one degree burns thankfully. We also went to a field at one point to relax but then her arm got crushed by a huge tree branch. Which is starting to make me realise that Marcy's parents must have a hell of a lot of money if they can afford a lot of Marcy's medical bills. I've been feeling down a lot recently. I just…Feel so guilty about everything that I've done." She wiped away some tears. "I know I've said it once or twice…But how can I not feel guilty! I wish I could make this pain go away! I failed Eda and King by abandoning them until the last minute and then getting my friends and girlfriend trapped in my world. I should have been in the Demon Realm to stop Belos! I should have stopped him from finding the Collector! I should have! But I didn't all because of how stupidly selfish I was in helping people I barley knew instead of helping the ones that really mattered!" Luz wiped away a few more tears. "Why people still care for me is a mystery. I ruined their lives! Look, I'll spare the details about what I tried to do the other day but….They weren't pleasant. I'll talk to you again later." She wiped away a few tears and slammed her laptop shut.
A few hours after making that video, Luz, Amity, Marcy, Vee, K and Masha were in Luz's bedroom just hanging out. Marcy, whom was on a wheelchair and a cast on her arm due to her injuries, was writing in her journal; K was still investigating the inconsistent pattern of these animal killings; Masha and Vee were snuggling on the bean bag; While Luz and Amity were just reading some Manga on the bed. Specifically one called Markira, about a teenage biker gang fighting their psychic friend.
"Wow, Canada and Tensuto really like to say each other's names a lot." Amity remarked.
"Yeah, that's like 90% of the manga." Luz turned the page to reveal the main character shouting each other's names while fighting in the futuristic city of New Tokyo. "You think that's wild, you should read a Manga called Demented. The character of Spleen really likes to shout Griffin's name out a lot. Like…It's 95% of his dialogue. Especially in that messed up and terrifying ending."
"Oh, you mean when Griffin rips Spleen's girlfriend in half and then put her back together so he could tear her in half again but diagonal instead of vertical." K's response made Amity cringe.
"Titan, I just pictured it." Amity said.
Vee looked at the potato chips that were next to her and Masha and shoved aside. "There goes my appetite."
"Good thing Gus isn't here to project it." Marcy remarked.
"But I could by the time I have full control." Darcy laughed their head off. "Or maybe I could do that to one of your friends. How about K? I don't like the way he looks at us."
Marcy looked up from her journal to see that K was looking up from his laptop. She would have been freaked out if he were stalking her, but she knew he wasn't staring at her like some prize, he was staring at her like he knew something about her.
Marcy had to think of something to get him to stop staring so she turned to Amity. "Amity, it's been….Months since you first arrived."
"Yes?" Amity asked.
"Well…..You know, I'm not saying it will happen, but I was wondering, if we don't ever get back to the Demon Realm, what do you think might happen?" Marcy asked.
Luz looked saddened while Amity was pondering what might happen to her future. "I honestly don't know. You mean like I were stuck on Earth? Then, someone would have to forge documents for me."
"I would." K ate a cookie at the side of him before injecting a syringe in his system. "Believe me, we've been doing it for….Top visitors."
"What visitors?" Amity asked.
"Top….Visitors." K replied with an intense glare. Implying a secret he is not supposed to tell them. "Just don't question why some humans have two sets of eyelids."
"Um….Okay." Amity said without question.
"Believe me, I've asked when I saw an old man had that problem." Masha said. "But you know what, Marcy, that does sound fun. What our futures would look like."
"Yeah!" Amity agree.
"Sounds fun indeed." Luz agreed as she rubbed her eyes.
"Okay! Okay!" Marcy said. "I'd love to talk about my future and nothing else! Well, I could talk about your futures, I mean listen to them! Nothing else!"
"You want to talk about the future, Marcy?" K remarked. "You seem rather….Intent on doing this."
Marcy sweated nervously as her eyes flickered orange. She then turned to K. "Hey K, how about you start first? Do you want to retire? Or….Maybe settle down? Have a family?"
"Marcy, I told you that relationships would distract me and kids would only do the same thing. So, if I were to have any nephews or nieces or niblings in the future from Vee and Masha then I will not babysit them." He ate a single piece of popcorn. "But back on to the topic of my future, I'll probably investigate until the day I die of old age or perhaps an unforeseen and early death."
Everyone didn't know what to say about this. "Oookay." Masha looked round the room awkwardly. "Any who. What I want in the future is to go into a good college before becoming curator of the museum."
"Oh, speaking of museum, did you get that job at the historical society?" Vee asked.
"I'm still on that waiting list." Masha replied. "My parents want me to run it on weekends since they'd want me to study and do my homework. I'll become an awesome curator teaching curious minds about the history of this town. The bleak stuff and the light stuff."
"You'd make a cool curator, Masha." Vee said before kissing her partner.
"Aww, thanks Vee." Masha said to their girlfriend. "How about your future?"
"Well….I've honestly taken an interest in a game called softball." Vee replied. "From what I've seen on a few MewTube videos. I do think it needs to change its name since it's probably more hardball than softball. And I hope to be a softball coach as a part time job."
"What will your full time job be?" Amity asked.
"I don't know." Vee shrugged her shoulders. "Maybe an illusionist due to my shapeshifting abilities. Or….Maybe I could work as a vet just like Mom."
"What would you do for your future, Marcy?" Amity asked.
Marcy made a hissing noise. "Well….I don't know. My mind is buzzing with so much possibilities." Marcy sees a flash of a possible future where Darcy takes over and attacks everyone in the room. "I could go to a college…." Then, her mind pictures Darcy making a robot army out of human parts. "…And then go to a university…" She then saw Darcy destroying LA and Anne and Sasha. "….Then I design a web comic series…" She then saw Darcy taking over the world. "….And I would sell it as an animated series…." She then saw Darcy destroying the Collector and the entire Demon Realm. "….But to someone who'd actually care about the source material as opposed to doing it for a hefty paycheck and doing some things that would piss off the fanbase…." She then saw Darcy blowing up Amphibia as they laughed with Andrias' head in their hand. "….And then I'll die with a daughter called Olivia by my side, a ton of grandchildren and benefits from merchandising." Marcy pulled a dumb smile while one of her eyes flickered orange.
Everyone stared at Marcy in amazement over her theory of her future. "Wow, very detailed future of your life if it ever happens." Vee remarked.
"How about you Amity?" Masha asked. "Have you imagined your future?"
"Well, since I'm stuck in the Human Realm and if I'm stuck here with no way of knowing if I'll ever see my Dad again….." Amity wiped away a stray tear from her eye. "….I think to honour his legacy, I think I'll take engineering courses and become an engineer."
"Wow, sounds cool." Masha said.
"And it's a good thing I can forge documents as I have mentioned before." K said. "And you Luz, how would you imagine your future?"
"Hey do you mind if I put some music on while I write the plot to my web comic?" Marcy asked.
"Go ahead." K replied. "It's been getting quiet."
In that moment, Marcy put on a piece of music known as On the Nature of Daylight by Max Richter as Luz began to think about what her future could be like.
She imagined her future as rather bright with her doing amazingly in high school, completing a lot of courses and graduating with a writer's degree. She saw herself hanging out with her friends and family. Going to the zoo with Vee and her mother, laughing about something with Masha, talking Anime with Marcy, going over disturbing evidence with K and cuddling her girlfriend while watching a romantic movie together that had vampires.
After high school, she saw herself and her Mom hugging as Luz made her way to leave for college to study a course on being a writer. Then, she saw her and Vee graduating together with Amity, Camila and Masha in attendance applauding them.
Then, she saw herself as a bridesmaid at multiple weddings which included Hunter and Willow's, Dipper and Wendy's and Masha and Vee's.
Then, there was her wedding with Amity which had Mildred Featherwhyle, author of the Good Witch Azura officiating the wedding.
After the huge kiss, she saw her and Amity buying the cabin in the woods and making it their home. She saw Amity getting an incredible engineering degree and achieving so much for humanity despite the fact she's from the Demon Realm.
Luz saw herself winning multiple Pulitzer Prizes for her work in writing a fictional adventure/fantasy series about her adventures in the Demon Realm. Then, Luz saw her and Amity having a child together, a daughter specifically and giving her all the love and affection that Odalia never gave to Amity.
But at one point, Luz imagined how in the future she may seem happy even with a wife and daughter, but in actuality, she was still depressed and unhappy with what she had done to everyone. But the one point where she gave a genuine smile after everything, was when she was passing on with her wife, her daughter, her grandchildren and her sister by her side.
When she saw herself pass on, she saw that everyone was happier that way. And in that vision, she saw Amity whispering to her lifeless body 'I never forgave you. I never will.'
She snapped out of that thought when Amity snapped her fingers in her face. "Luz! Batata?"
"Huh?" Luz reacted.
"You were silent." K replied.
"Is everything okay?" Marcy asked.
Luz thought to what she imagined and exhaled. "I don't know what my future holds."
