Luz walked into the kitchen with her laptop in hand and placed it down on the table to start her recording. "Dear diary, it's September 18th. Well, everyone knows I'm suicidal now. After Darcy revealed the secret as a means to mess with me, Mom and Amity have been doing their best to try and help me. They request I get therapy but I don't think that will help me. I mean, I get why it helps other people but I just don't want to lay down my issues in front of someone. They are so worried for me that they won't even let me touch the toaster, they search me in case I've taken any kind of sharp objects, Ghost follows me to school or anywhere I go in case I decide to jump into a moving vehicle and Marcy and Masha have been watching me at school." She wiped away some tears falling from her face. "I appreciate the help, but it won't make the pain go away. It won't make the pain of me abandoning everyone in the Demon Realm go away. I abandoned everyone in their time of need and I'm still treated like a hero! Maybe it would be better if I didn't exist. This concludes our session." She closed the laptop to get to bed.
In the morning, Amity and Vee were busy on the laptop searching up for ways to help people with suicidal tendencies. "Try and talk to them slowly in order for them to open up." Vee said. "It could work in theory but something tells me she won't. We know Luz likes to keep for herself."
Amity sighed. "Good point. What are we going to do with her, Vee? I can't lose her."
"I can't lose her as well." Vee said. "Has she tried anything recently?"
"Not that I'm aware of." Amity replied. "Has she tried anything in the shower?"
"Except for all the hard stares?" Vee retorted. "I mean, like wow, do you have any idea how awkward it is." She shuddered. "Now I know what a gym shower feels like."
They suddenly heard Camila scream. "¡Ah, qué horror!"
"Camila!" Amity and Vee, who quickly shape changed into her human form, ran out to the front garden to see Camila staring at something in horror.
"Mom, what's the matter?!" Vee exclaimed.
"Oh my goodness!" Camila sighed sadly. "My flowers have been eaten. Two months wasted because some poor critter happened to be hungry."
"You mean this critter?" Amity asked while pointing to something next to the flowerbed.
Camila and Vee looked and gasped in horror. It was a rabbit that had been disembowelled, its guts hanging out. Amity, Vee and Camila gagged in shock.
"Oh, what kind of monster did this?!" Amity exclaimed.
"Poor creature." Camila pulled out a pair of disinfected gloves, put them own and picked the carcass up. "Perhaps an animal was hungry. Perhaps a fox. It just wanted to live." She put the rabbit in the trash.
"Do you think it has something to do with K's latest case?" Vee asked.
"What?" Amity asked.
"K's latest case." Vee said. "A bunch of animals are appearing randomly around the town, dead. Some with de-skinned, others with missing parts and others completely nothing but bone. It's kind of inconsistent."
"I mean, not to sound rude, but aren't there other concerning matters?" Amity asked. "It's probably another animal."
"No animal has done this before." Camila said.
"You don't have Wendigos here?" Amity asked.
"Depends on who you ask." Camila replied. "Personally, I don't believe them."
Vee pulled out her phone from her pocket and raised her brows. "Oh, Masha texted. We're going out with Marcy today to the mall."
"Do you need a lift?" Camila asked.
"I got it. But thanks Mom." Vee said before walking away.
As she walked, Camila and Amity realised something. "Vee doesn't have a pouch." Amity said. "How did she get her phone out?"
"I don't know." Camila said.
Meanwhile, at school, Luz was just exiting the building after another productive day of same old work and same old work.
She sighed sadly over what was going on with her. She had been feeling much sadder ever since Darcy revealed to everyone her want to kill herself. She didn't want to be a burden to everyone but she felt like she was no matter what she did.
When she walked halfway down the stairs she saw, Preston Northwest, standing across the street on the phone.
"Of course." Preston said. "You sure this will work?…Oh of course it would. After all, it's the only way I can get anything done without that creepy FBI agent watching me!…Yes, thank you. Thank you." He hung up on his phone while Luz continued to narrow her eyes at him.
It didn't take long for Preston to notice Luz. When he saw her, he was baffled by why she was narrowing her eyes at him until he began to get a closer look at her. Like she almost looked familiar to him.
Luz wanted to go up to that man and punch him in an effort to make herself feel better. But that thought vanished when Ghost jumped up toward her to get her attention.
Luz sighed. "Hey Ghost. Amity still wants you watching me, huh?" The Palisman nodded her head.
Masha and Marcy exited the school and approached Luz. "Hey Luz." Marcy, whom was now wearing a band aid around her head, said.
"Hey Mar-Mar, how's your head?" Luz asked.
"Well you know, had brain surgery to remove a chip implanted into my brain thanks to the Core but I'm feeling a bit fine just very woozy." She began to close her eyes like she were about to fall asleep until Masha woke her up. "Huh? What? Where am I?"
"She's still drifting." Masha explained. "Who were you staring at? Was it him again?"
Luz sighed. "It doesn't matter. I just want to go home."
"You sure you don't want to come to the mall with us?" Masha asked. "We can go and find some manga."
"How about we read some Shonun ones and guess how old the female characters are?" Marcy suggested. "Like NoNo from Monster Slayer Academia."
"She's fourteen." Masha said.
"Then why does she wear that outfit?" Marcy asked. "It's very revealing."
"Well as far as I'm aware of, Shonun is mostly written by teenage boys." Masha remarked.
"I'd love to guys, but…I gotta go." Luz said. "I just need to be on my own for a bit." She began walking back home just as Vee arrived.
"Hey Luz." Vee said with a smile before it went to a frown just as Luz walked past with Ghost following. Her partner and Marcy approached the Basilisk, both with concern and worry on their faces.
"Is she okay?" Vee asked.
"No." Masha said. "She was feeling down in math class."
"Who wouldn't?" Vee retorted before she and them shared a laugh.
The laughing stopped. "But also history and Mr Rupert's lecture on revenge in media. So you know…Same old."
"And my suggestion to feed her still didn't work." Marcy said.
"Because she was eating with a plastic fork and knife." Masha pointed out.
"She could turn it into a weapon." Marcy argued. "Believe me, I know."
"You're overthinking Marcy." Masha chuckled. "But let's get going. I like the Shonen idea."
As they walked past, they walked passed missing posters for some people named Javier Pablo, Sally Hanker, Yuri Brian and Matt Terrace.
"Shonen?" Vee reacted.
"Manga or Anime dedicated to a teenage boy demographic." Marcy explained. "So, you know male leads and most of the female characters are seen as eye candy."
As they continued to walk, they walked past Gideon talking to a man with black hair and a barley visible moustache.
"Look Mark, it's 200 dollars a week which will eventually inflate the more you work with me." Gideon explained.
"Okay." The man said. "I need this after getting out of jail. Thank you, Mr Gleeful."
"And people like this?" Vee asked.
"Oh yeah." Masha replied. "I went as Aikur from Soap last Halloween."
"Think you'll go as that again?" Vee asked.
"Nah, I wanna go as a witch." Masha replied.
As they spoke, the group were unknowingly being watched by a man with a small coat, ragged clothes, an orange hat and dirt on his face. "No." He said as he watched the group about to make their way through the woods.
"And I don't know what I'll go as." Marcy said. "Maybe I'll go as ranger Marcy."
"And I'll go as myself." Vee said. "Only way I can be seen as a Basilisk without anyone freaking out."
Then, the homeless man jumped in front of the trio with a terrified expression of his face. "Hey!"
Vee raised her hands. "I'm not a Basilisk!"
"No, you're a weird girl!" The homeless man retorted. "I came here to warn you!"
Marcy panicked. "Take my money!" She handed the man 50 dollars. "This is all I've got. Just buy yourself deodorant, food and clothes!"
"You're seeing it are you?" The man asked. "You are aren't you?"
"What?" Masha asked.
"You aren't going through those woods are you?" The homeless man asked.
"No." Masha said, slightly worried about what his intentions were.
The man exhaled. "Oh good, then I don't need to warn you about the Wendigo." He was planning to walk away until he was stopped by the trio.
"Woah! Woah! Wendigo?!" Masha asked.
"You had no intention to enter that forest so I thought warning you would be unnecessary." The homeless man explained.
"Actually, warn us!" Marcy pleaded. "Because I might walk through them."
"You idiot! No wonder you're wearing a band aid around your head." He said. "Alright, you've heard about the animal deaths? People vanishing without a trace? I've seen it, the Wendigo. Its sinister blue eyes, its antlers, its razor sharp teeth and its long hair. Or maybe it's a Skinwalker, I get those two confused. Well, I'm cursed since I said its name."
Suddenly, K arrived eating a lollipop. "Sir, what do you want?"
He pointed his finger toward K. "You're up to something! Kids, don't trust this man!" He ran away in terror while K just watched on. "Huh, he was bothering you wasn't he?"
"Well, he was making me worried about a…" Marcy yawned. "…Wendigo."
"Do you know any of this K?" Masha asked.
"Well, I don't know if this will end up being a contrivance but I do need some help with this." K said.
"With what?" Vee asked.
K led the trio into the forest where he removed a sheet that had the carcasses of two dead animals. This caused the trio to gag while K was eating the lollipop.
"Observe the animals." K said. "The one on the right is a bunny without its foot. Some people are desperate for luck. The other is a deer completely bone dry. Nothing left."
"How can we help with this?" Vee asked. "Why can't you get your government guys?"
"That is a story." K explained. "You see, I was originally here to survey Preston Northwest on his parole. But, some more interesting investigations called for me. Like when you were dating my cousin and I had to investigate to see if you were a threat."
"Yeah, sorry about kicking your ass." Marcy said.
"It's okay." K said. "But then, these animal killing were becoming too common. I at first saw them as accidents, hunting trophies and maybe just prey for other animals. But then I noticed that there was a strange pattern. Some were disembowelled and some were turned into bone. On top of that there's missing folk and now Wendigo or Skinwalker sightings. This just keeps getting better."
"I know it sucks." Vee said.
"No, this is great!" K exclaimed. "I like to keep myself busy."
"You have messed up hobbies." Vee remarked.
"I have a healthy hobby." K said. "I also like to guess the ages of female characters in Shonen Anime and Manga from youngest to oldest. I always end up being right."
"Uh…."
"What? I don't use it for those reasons!" K exclaimed. "I'm creepy but I'm not a creep! Off topic, sorry. Think you might be able to help? Unless you have anything to do at the weekend."
"Not really." Masha said.
"I guess we can help." Vee said.
"Still woozy but I'll help." Marcy responded.
"Okay, maybe you stay out of this one." K suggested. "You still need to recover."
"Fair enough." Marcy agreed before falling face first on the ground.
Meanwhile, Luz was still walking home with Ghost following from behind. She was really tempted to allow herself to be run over by any passing vehicle. The mere thought of a quickly painful death would be enough for her. She had given up on hope that they could make it back to the Demon Realm to stop the Collector.
While walking, she noticed something odd. She saw the same crazy old man that warned Masha and the others being manhandled into a police car.
"No! I did nothing!" The homeless man cried.
"You've been warned of squatting here!" The cop cried.
"I've been squatting here for months and your police guys didn't seem to mind until now!" He exclaimed before being forced into the car. "Crap! I'm the next kidnap victim! Help! Someone! Please!"
The cop noticed Luz and gave her a nod. "It's okay. Just another drug dealer off our street." He gave her a grin, causing a distinct gold tooth to shine.
Luz watched the sight with a baffled expression just as the cop and his partner got in their car and drove off. "Huh, mayhem. Not like it will lead to anything." She continued walking and Ghost meowed.
"You were wondering who that guy was, aren't you?" Luz asked. The Palisman shook her head, having known who he was since Amphibia beach day but Luz didn't see it. "Preston Northwest. Pacifica's Dad. The one who killed my Dad. I can't believe he's out of prison. He should have just stayed there and died there. To be honest Ghost, I wanna tell him what happened to his daughter. He took my family away, I took away his. Seems fair." Ghost gave Luz a saddened look just as the two arrived at the Noceda residence.
When Luz walked through the door, the first thing she did was drop face first on the couch and moaned.
Amity walked into the living room and kissed her on the forehead. "Hey Luz."
Luz positioned herself so she could look at her amazing girlfriend. She gave a weak smile. "Amity." She shuffled herself so Amity could sit beside her.
"Are you okay?" Amity asked. "How was school? Did you…." She rolled her girlfriend's sleeve up to find any scratches but Luz quickly rolled them back up looking uncomfortable and frustrated.
"I'm fine."
Amity looked shocked and exhaled. "I'm sorry, Luz. You know how worried I am for you."
"I know." Luz said looking disinterested. "Besides, how do you know Darcy was telling the truth? They could have made it up."
"Because you admitted it!" Amity exclaimed. "Luz, you can't just hide forever and embrace these problems. Your friends are here, your mom is here, your sister is here….I'm here."
Luz sighed. "I know. But I'm not ready. Call me down when dinner is ready." She walked upstairs to her room. But before she did, she kissed Amity on her hair all while the witch just stared off in the distance.
Camila poked her head from the frame and looked toward Amity with a worried expression on her face. "Amity?"
"I…Tried." Amity said.
"It has almost been two weeks." She sat down next to the witch. "She probably needs more time to open up."
Amity inhaled through her nose. "Probably. But…What if she can't open up? What if she…She does it?" Amity tried to hold back the tears coming from her eyes. "I'm okay. Gotta remain strong."
"Amity, it's okay to worry." Camila assured her. "You're my daughter's girlfriend it's okay."
"I'm fine." Amity denied as she wiped away her tears. "I just need to be strong and she'll eventually open up. Now, what are we cooking?" She abruptly stood up on the couch and walked in the kitchen.
Camila just watched as the witch entered the kitchen to help with the cooking, sensing that she wasn't herself.
Later that night, Luz was trying to sleep but couldn't due to the heavy guilt she was feeling. She had been like this for two hours and to say the least, it was getting worse. Her insomnia and sleepless nights.
She rolled to her side where she saw none other than Pacifica staring at her by her window. She was narrowing her eyes at Luz whom just stared at her with guilt.
"I'm sorry." Luz said.
The ghostly Pacifica just stared at her just as blood began to leak through her shirt. She lifted it up to reveal the stab wound Belos gave her, letting the blood leak out.
Luz stared at her in fear before rubbing her eyes and saw that she was no longer there. She was grateful that it was just a vision but she knew she would probably be back to haunt her.
She got off the bed and walked toward her sleeping girlfriend. She stared at her in sadness before bending down and kissing her on her cheek.
"Goodbye Amity." Luz said sadly. "Say the same to Mami, Vee, K, Marcy and Masha for me." She sobbed before tiptoeing towards the window, opening it up and climbing out toward the roof.
She looked over the ledge attempting to jump off of it. She looked down and saw the ghost Pacifica beckoning her to jump. She took a deep breath and was about to jump off when she saw something strange digging through the trash.
It looked to be a red feathery humanoid that looked similar to Flapjack. She stared at the creature with a baffled expression before carefully sliding down the roof by shimmying down the pillar that held it together.
She began to walk slowly towards the strange creature. She picked up a nearby lead pipe and in case it wanted to attack her. "Uh…Excuse me?"
The creature pulled its head out from the trash to reveal a humanoid red cardinal, similar to Flapjack. But the creature looked to have Heterochromia as one iris was blue while the other was green.
She screamed and fell on her rear just as the creature began walking toward her looking terrified. It gave some pained tweet while Luz ran to the door to run back in.
But then the tweeting turned into pained cries. "Help! Help!" The humanoid bird cry. "Help….Me!" The bird cried. "Machine…North…..Auction…West."
Luz stared at the creature with fear and shock just as the police arrived. Specifically, the same police officers who forced the homeless man into their car.
They grabbed the birdman and forced it into the vehicle while Luz watched on in confusion. The birdman struggled to escape their grasp but it was too weak and its arms were feather.
They forced the poor creature into the car while Luz ran toward them. "What are you doing?!"
"Insane patient." The cop replied. "You know, the usual." He flashed his golden tooth before jumping in the car.
It drove off while Luz just watched on with a worried expression on her face. "What…The Hell?"
Then, Vee opened the door in her human form, her face covered in a face mask. "Hey, keep it down! I'm trying to sleep! Luz, what are you doing out?"
Luz stared at her sister with a baffled expression. "Why are you wearing a face mask?"
The next day, Luz was having breakfast with her mother, her sister and her girlfriend where she was detailing the story of what happened last night.
"….And then, the police arrested the strange creature and forced it into the car."
"Was it the Wendigo?" Vee asked.
"No, I don't know what it was." Luz replied. "It was a bird person."
"That should have been a job for animal control." Camila replied. "Or maybe some kind of Cryptid hunter like, Dipper."
"Yeah, but he's not in Gravesfield right now." Amity said while Dipper walked past the window looking annoyed.
"I meant 1620!" Dipper exclaimed before vanishing.
"But there was one thing I noticed." Luz explained. "When it was tweeting, it sounded like a cry for help. It almost sounded like it was telling me 'help me.'
"Did it say anything else?" Camila asked.
"It was saying north, machine, auction and west." Luz explained. "Don't know what that means."
"Maybe K might know." Vee theorised. "Oh and don't forget to bring a detailed drawing with you just in case."
"Okay!" Luz exclaimed. "I guess I finally got something to do with the weekend." She jumped off the chair to get changed with Vee following behind while Amity and Camila stayed looking concerned.
"Isn't this concerning?" Amity asked.
"Yeah. I hope this isn't connected to the animals." Camila said.
"No, I mean Luz." Amity said. "She didn't say what she was doing out last night. I mean, did you see any proof of her being out last tonight?"
"Well, Vee did say she was outside and the door isn't exactly quiet so I heard her opening the door." Camila replied.
"When I woke up I saw that Luz's window was open." Amity replied with a worried look. "I don't know, but I sense she was planning to do something to hurt herself."
Camila looked worried and gave her daughter's a girlfriend a stern look. "Mija, I don't know where this investigation will go, but please, keep an eye on Luz make sure she doesn't get hurt."
"Aren't you coming?" Amity asked.
"I would but I have bills to pay so I gotta get to work." Camila replied. "Plus, you're already powerful enough."
"Good point." Amity agreed.
Eventually, the trio, plus Ghost, arrived at the Bratton residence. Luz knocked on the door while Amity looked to her girlfriend with worry on her face.
"Luz, why did you climb out the window last night?" Amity asked.
"Oh, just wanted to take out some trash." Luz lied.
"Through the window?" Amity asked.
"Oh I've done that a few times." Amity and Luz looked at Vee with baffled expressions. "What? I didn't wanna wake Camila."
The door opened to reveal Mr and Mrs Bratton. "Oh hey, it's Masha's friends." Mr Bratton said.
"And girlfriend." Mrs Bratton said teasingly.
Vee blushed with embarrassment. "Hey Mr and Mrs Bratton."
"What romantic shenanigans will you get with our kid?" Mr Bratton asked. "Maybe something out of that iconic dog movie."
"Or that movie about the Titanic." Mrs Bratton said. "Exterminator 2: Aliens Avatar."
"Well don't just stand there, come in." When they turned around, it is revealed that they had some post stick notes on their back which baffled the three.
"Uh…"
"Oh K ran out of space so we let him use us as boards." Mr Bratton explained.
When they entered the home they saw that all over the walls were post stick notes with written words. 'Wendigo. Connection? Kidnappings? Humanoid creatures and coffee?'
"Uh….What's going on?" Amity asked.
Masha walked downstairs with post stick notes all over their body. "K's been obsessed with this case." Masha replied. "He's been up all night putting notes all over the house. Even the toilet! Do you have any idea how hard it was to pee without covering the papers in urine?!" Masha's eye twitched.
K then ran out of the kitchen eating some jelly beans. "I'm smart! I'm smart!" He repeated before taking a handful of pretzels and eating them. "How am I missing this?"
"Uh….K?" Vee asked with concern.
"Vee!" K gave his cousin's girlfriend a smile. "Oh and hey Luz and hey Amity. How is it going?"
"Well we came here with a problem." Luz explained. "But I can see you're a little preoccupied."
"Correct!" K responded before pouring a bottle of energy drink into his coffee and drinking it. "So many things going on here. Kidnappings, animal killings, Wendigo sightings, Skinwalker sightings and proof of time travellers." He showed the four picture of a painting of what looked to be Dipper, Hunter and Willow beating up a young Phillip Wittebane.
"Uh….Should we be worried about this?" Luz asked.
"Honestly, the time travel aspect has nothing to do with it." K said. "I just wanted to show something cool. So what was it you wanted to tell me Luz? I have a recent deceased animal. A Northern Cardinal with missing wings."
"Listen K, I think this might intrigue you." Luz said. "It might be to do with the cardinal." She pulled out a detailed drawing of the humanoid cardinal and showed it to K whom began to analyse it. "This is what I saw last night while I was outside."
"What time?" K queried.
"Around 2 in the morning, I think." Luz replied.
"And what were you doing out at such a time?" K asked. "Seems odd doesn't it?"
"It does." Amity agreed while staring at her girlfriend with suspicion.
"Look, it doesn't matter." Luz said. "What can you tell me about this?"
K continued to look at the drawing with intrigue before his eyes widen. "Looks very detailed. Has blue and green eyes. Probably a case of Heterochromia. Any other details did you notice?"
"Well it started tweeting but then it was saying words." Luz replied. "As if it was trying to communicate. It said West, Auction, Machine and North. It also cried for help before being taken away by the police."
K listened to Luz, intently as he struggled to come up with a theory. "Hmmmm."
"What does it mean?" Amity asked.
"Maybe there's an auction northwest from here." K theorised. "But what is the machine? But what messed up individual would start buying humanoid creatures? And why would the police be involved?"
"But that's not all." Luz said. "Yesterday I saw a homeless man being forced in by the police. Two to be precise."
"Any distinct features?" K asked.
"A golden tooth." Luz replied.
"Hmmmm. Remind me to go to the station later today. I would like a word with officer gold tooth." K said.
"Is it any help?" Luz asked.
"I'm not sure." K replied.
"Well great, does that mean you're going to stick post stick notes in the sink?" Masha asked their cousin.
"No but thanks for the suggestion." K replied before noticing something about the humanoid Cardinal. Specifically in their eyes. "Wait a sec. Blue and green eyes."
"What about it?" Amity asked.
"Is that not normal?" Vee asked.
"Well not usually." K replied. "This bird person has Heterochromia. Less than a percent of the population of the planet has it."
"What's your problem?" Amity asked.
"Someone with that description disappeared recently." K replied. He shot up off his seat and removed a picture from the TV. "This is Boyd Peña." He showed a picture of a man of Hispanic heritage with black hair and face stubble. "A man recently on parole."
"What for?" Luz asked.
"An offence the US government finds a big issue." K replied.
"What?" Amity asked. "Murder?"
K gave Amity an intense stare. "Tax evasion. Released on parole, he vanished three weeks after moving in with his sister and her wife. But his more distinct feature are his eyes. He was born with Heterochromia. You could buck it off as a coincidence and I'm hoping it is, but something tells me it might not be and that weird bird person was dear old Boyd. Even if it was, how did he end up this way? And what is this machine? And the auction northwest from here?"
The group stared at each other with wide eyes as they realised that they had a mystery that needed solving.
"Well, looks like you kids have a mystery on your feet." Mr Bratton remarked.
"Dad! What have we said about pop culture references?!" Masha exclaimed in annoyance.
"Oh we heard you a ton." Mrs Bratton suddenly went stern. "But before you do, let's start with this mess."
They looked around the house at the post stick notes while K sighed. "Uncle Ahmad and Aunt Zara, there are more important issues at hand." The aunt and uncle gave a glare at their nephew who just sighed in annoyance. "But…I supposed it could go a lot quicker if we do it together."
Two hundred minutes later, K, Luz, Amity, Vee and Masha exited the house. "Did you really need to stay for lunch, Vee?" K asked.
"It was making me hungry." Vee replied. "Plus, you know eating a consistent diet of sweet foods is unhealthy."
"I eat sweet based food because it keeps my energy up." K explained.
"Yeah, believe me I know." Luz said. "Though I don't have that much sugar in me now. Just keeping it small and consistent." There was a depressed smile on her face that made Amity give a worrying glance.
"So, where do we start?" Masha asked.
"I say we start with Officer gold tooth and see what he knows." K said.
"What cop has a gold tooth?" Masha asked. "They sound like they belong in a gang."
Then a cop with brown hair and a brown moustache walked past looking offended. "Hey! I have a brother who happens to be a firefighter who has a gold tooth! You gotta learn to not be so judgemental, Bratton!" Then, the officer saw a man wearing a heavy rock shirt and shook his head. "Emos."
Later at the station, K was standing at the reception while the others were sitting on seats. Masha and Vee sat next to two a man with long blonde hair, yellow coat and a beanie. While Luz and Amity were sitting from across them sitting next to a bearded man with a beanie and a long brown coat.
"So what are you two in for?" The man asked Masha and Vee.
"We're investigating the disappearances." Masha replied.
The man laughed. "Yeah and I'm here for undisclosed reasons."
"What are you in for?" Vee asked.
"Nah, me and Quiet Kevin like to sit in the waiting areas of police stations and judge people for their life choices." The man replied.
Then, a cop walked in holding a robber. "Let's go jewellery thief!"
"Your life stinks!" The man exclaimed.
"That's not a very good insult." Vee said.
"Well I'm on autopilot today so I'm not putting effort." The man said.
Across the seat, Quiet Kevin was stroking Ghost which Amity allowed. "Her name's Ghost." The quiet man smiled as he stroked the Palisman. Then, the man flinched and looked at his finger to see that he got a white splinter. This baffled him while Amity just sweat, fearing that he might panic causing her to be exposed.
Luz returned with two cups of water in cone shaped cups. "Here you go." She handed her girlfriend a cup of water.
"Thanks, Batata." Amity said as she took the cup and began to drink it.
Luz drank her water while staring off into the distance. What she saw was Pacifica narrowing her eyes at her. She looked at the hallucination with a distressed look just as it began to lift her shirt to reveal her stab wound with blood oozing out.
Luz looked like she was about to panic until Amity got a hold of her hand, causing her to instantly calm down.
"Luz, are you okay?" Amity asked.
Luz looked to her girlfriend a tired smile. "I'm fine, Amity. I promise. Try not to worry about me."
Amity turned to Quiet Kevin with a saddened expression. "Kevin, could you cover your ears? Me and my girlfriend are going to have a private conversation." Kevin made a zipping mouth gesture before putting two of his fingers in his ears. "Thank you." She turned to her girlfriend. "Luz, I know I've been patient with you ever since we got together. And I know how hard it was for you to tell me about the promise to your Mom, but you saw what happens when you keep your feelings in."
"Amity, I'm fine." Luz lied.
"What were you doing outside last night?" Amity asked. "The window was open. Were you…Going to jump off the roof?"
Luz looked away from her girlfriend in discomfort. "I….Just needed fresh air."
"Luz, I know you're lying." Amity argued. "You don't want me to be worried about you I get that, but how can I not?!"
"Look, I just need to worry about you guys before I worry about myself." Luz argued while narrowing her eyes at Amity.
"Luz, it's not healthy!" Amity protested.
"Look, I just need the bathroom." Luz got off her chair to excuse herself to the bathroom.
"I'm going as well." Vee said before following Luz.
The man looked at Vee with a baffled expression. "You know, I swear that she doesn't have ears. Or maybe I'm imagining. Right giant bunny standing by the standing desk?"
The woman with blue hair sighed in annoyance. "Jason, how many times have I told you and Kevin to stop shaming criminals?"
"Kevin, how many times?" Kevin responded by counting with his fingers until the woman groaned.
"Get out you two!" The woman demanded.
Jason and Kevin got out of their seats. "You never let us do anything fun, Bunny!" Jason and Kevin marched out of the station leaving Bunny to sigh.
She then quickly smiled at K. "Hi, my name's Bunny Mewnez, I'm the receptionist. How can I do you today sir?"
K pulled out his badge. "Officer Mewnez, my name is Agent K. I'm with the FBI. I know I'm dressed like a social shut in and you assume this badge is plastic. But I assure you, I am a member of the Bureau."
"Oh I believe you." She replied. "You were sent to monitor Preston Northwest. Uh, he should have stayed in prison. Even after what he did to Officer Noceda. But between you and me, I think he is up to something. Maybe some illegal auction. He's up to something! He's up to something! He's up to something! Anyway, is it about that?"
"I need you to look up an officer with a gold tooth." K said. "If such an officer exists."
She began searching on the computer for an officer with that description but came out empty handed. "Funny, no such officer exists on the database. Hell, not even one that is retired or dead. Almost like he was erased."
"Hmmm." K remarked.
Then, Bunny got a notification on her computer. "Oh great! Another missing ex con. Mark Marcus. Telling ya, they're up to something! They're up to something!"
Meanwhile in the bathroom, Luz was sitting on the toilet with her hands wrapped around her legs and began crying in her knees.
She heard knocking on the door coming from Vee. "Luz. Please come out." Vee pleaded.
"Go away, Vee." Luz responded. "I just need some space."
"Luz, come on, I really have to go!" Vee exclaimed. "This is the only stall in here which is kind of a dick move don't you think?"
Luz briefly gave a small grin that quickly vanished as she went back to crying. Then, she felt a presence and looked up to see none other than the ghost of Pacifica.
Only this time, she wasn't wearing her shirt, letting her brutal stab wound show. The wound once again began to ooze blood, leading Luz to pant in terror. "No! No! What do you want?! What do you want?!"
Luz ran out of the stall and back to the reception area when she quickly tackled Amity with a hug. "Luz?"
She saw the terrified look on her girlfriend's face with her heart dropping. "Luz, it's okay. It's okay. What happened?"
Masha was about to get off their seat but K just motioned them to stop. Bunny was about to make a phone call but K just stopped her.
"Can we leave?" Luz asked.
"We can Luz." K replied. "This was a bust."
When they made it outside the station, Luz was having some pretzels to calm her nerves while everyone, including Jason and Quiet Kevin watched.
"Is Luz okay?" Masha asked.
"Yeah, Luis are you okay?" Jason asked.
"Luz." Masha said.
"That's what I said, Marcy." Jason argued.
"Masha." Vee said.
"That's what I said, Dee."
"Okay, let's end this comedy routine." K said. "Jason, why don't you do us a favour and be like your mute friend?"
Quiet Kevin gave Jason a look that said 'We should listen.' Jason groaned in annoyance. "Alright, fine. Whatever you say, J." The two took two paces backwards leaving Luz and her friends alone.
"Why Hex Mix?" Amity asked. "How does that help?"
"I find that some people calm down by consuming sugar." K said. "Don't ask but I know."
"What made Luz panic?" Amity asked.
"I don't know." Vee replied. "I think she saw something that traumatised her. She was screaming to something. I don't know what it was but I didn't see it."
"Hallucinations brought upon by stress and lack of sleep possibly." K theorised.
"Or…Other stuff." Jason theorised.
"What have I said?" K asked the young man.
"Luz, maybe you need to sit this one out." Amity said. "Maybe you could just have a mental health day off with Marcy."
"No, I'm not giving up!" Luz exclaimed while standing up. "I want to find out about what's going on! And I'm not letting a panic attack stop me! Come on!" She began to stomp off until K stopped her.
"Luz…
"Out of my way, K!" Luz demanded.
"We have nothing." K said calmly. "No new evidence."
"Well that sucks!" Luz exclaimed. "Was there at least anything interesting going on at the station?!"
"Well, some guy named Mark Marcus vanished." Vee said. "If that's important."
"Yeah, that is important." Jason said. "And they're just reporting it now?!"
"What do you mean?" Masha asked.
"Mark Marcus was mine and Quiet Kevin's manufacturer of our special medicine before he vanished five years ago." Jason explained.
"He went to prison." K said.
"Oh, he did?" Jason asked. "But when did he get out?"
"Recently until his disappearance." K explained.
"I mean, I don't believe it." Jason said. "I mean, 20 people have disappeared in the span of 7 months. Or, the people I know. They were mainly mine and Quiet Kevin's manufacturers for our special medicine. Heck, they all got out of prison."
"Wow, that must suck." Vee remarked.
"Should have thought about their life choices but still." Amity responded.
Then in that moment, Masha froze. "Wait a minute…Ex cons. K, did they say anything about the disappearances? Like, some kind of…Pattern?" K's eyes went wide and quickly ran back into the police station.
The group looked at the door with baffled expressions. "Did you just outsmart your cousin?" Vee asked her partner.
"I think I did." Masha remarked, impressed with themselves.
"Well, me and Quiet Kevin would like to help but…We don't want to." Jason said. "I mean, for all we know we'd end up Wendigo food."
"Okay, we didn't need you anyway." Amity said.
"Okay, Amelia." Jason said before he and Quiet Kevin began to walk away.
But in that moment, Quiet Kevin turned around to face Luz and took a breath. "Hey Luz, while it is important to care for others, the greatest responsibility in your life, is yourself." He continued following Jason.
Luz stared at Quiet Kevin with a saddened expression that got her thinking but then she looked away, not really sure if she wants to take his lesson to heart.
Vee looked baffled. "Quiet Kevin. Kind of a misleading name."
"Maybe it's meant to be ironic." Masha theorised before K burst out looking excited while holding a large piece of paper.
"I should have seen this link!" K exclaimed.
"K?" Amity reacted. "What link?"
"About 87% of the recent disappearances in Gravesfield are all ex cons!" K exclaimed. "I'm shocked I didn't see this before!"
"So…The rundown?" Masha asked.
"So far, from what I'm seeing. The animals, the missing people, the humanoid creature with physical descriptions of one of the missing people, said something about machine, auction, west and north; And the cop with no file. My theory is: Someone is stealing the DNA of these animals for some kind of experiment on ex cons or people on parole using some sort of machine and then being auctioned off. But I don't think it's just parolees, I think the homeless are being taken according to description from Luz from officer gold tooth, whom doesn't have a file. And that Skinwalker, probably either unrelated or just some hunters putting on a disguise to scare away people who might get suspicious. That is my theory anyway."
Masha seemed amazed. "Wow. This is kind of like a detective show."
"Don't expect me to make some dumb pun and place sunglasses on my face as I get to the punchline." K retorted.
"Where do we start next?" Amity asked. "Should we bait Officer Gold Tooth?"
"Something tells me that he could be on to us since the police are now looking for him." K replied. "So, I suggest we keep investigating. Maybe interview someone who has at least interacted with one of them."
Vee's eyes widen. "K, as me, Masha and Marcy were walking, I overheard that Gideon guy talking to someone who sounded like an ex convict."
"Gideon?" Luz reacted. "You mean the same Gideon Mom rescued during Frogvasion?"
"Yeah, light blue hair and pale skin." Vee replied.
K froze. "Did he by any chance speak in an annoying high pitched voice?"
"Yes." Vee froze. "Oooohhhh…."
Meanwhile in downtown Gravesfield, Gideon was standing by the statue of Phillip and Caleb, giving his number to a man with a tattoo on his face that read 'Get Busy Dyin or Get Busy Livin.'
From afar, K was watching on a park bench. He pulled out his phone to call the others. "You in position?"
"We are." Amity responded.
"K, I hate to be cynical, but you sure this will work?" She asked.
"Gideon is dumb, which makes him predictable." K replied. "Trust me."
Gideon began walking away looking annoyed. "I swear if the same thing happens again."
K approached Gideon with a deadpan stare. "Gideon Gleeful."
"Can I help you?" Gideon asked. "Do you need a job? Because I can help."
"No Gideon, I am special agent K." He flipped out his badge. "Don't believe me? I understand. But here's how I know you. Not from your local TV appearances but by your interesting criminal record. Illegal surveillance, property damage, fraud, attempted murder and building a giant robot that you weaponised. The youngest convict in the state of Oregon at only ten years old. I'm here to talk to you on account of the disappearances of Mark Marcus and the other ex convicts and parolees you might have interacted with."
Gideon just stood in place for a brief moment before he took off on foot. He ran across the street where he almost got ran over and hid in the Historical Society.
When he got inside, he realised something. "Wait, I thought the Historical Society was closed on Saturdays."
He then saw Vee standing by the reception with her arms folded. "That's because my partner has a part time job here. So they have the keys."
Gideon smiled. "Hey, I remember you. You're the funny haired girl from Frogvasion?"
"Who said I was a girl?" Vee then shape changed into her Basilisk form. "Let alone a human?" Gideon froze in fear and terror. "Oh don't act surprised. You've encountered creatures like me before."
Gideon screamed before he ran out of the historical society and straight towards a taxi that was parked nearby. He jumped in the vehicle and tossed his money at the driver. "Drive! Drive! Drive!"
The driver turned there to face the passenger to reveal Masha wearing black sunglasses and a dark green coat. "Hi there. You met my basilisk girlfriend, right?" Gideon screamed and ran out of the cab. "Love is love you know! Except sibling relationship or very wrong thoughts about your….You get the point!"
Gideon then ran though the park and down a small alleyway where he was greeted by Amity. "Please don't tell me you're a ghost!" Gideon pleaded.
Amity flicked her hair to reveal her pointy ears, causing Gideon to panic. "Elf!"
"Witch." Amity said.
"Even worse!" Gideon climbed up a nearby ladder that went up a building.
Once he was the top, Amity reached into her pocket and pulled out her phone. "K, Gideon is on his way to Luz. We might have information."
"Hey Amity, you wouldn't happen to know where my cuffs are?"
"No."
"It was just there in my pocket and they vanished." K explained. "Almost like someone pickpocket me."
In that moment, Amity began to theorise who could have pickpocket him and froze when she knew who could have pickpocket him. "No. Oh Luz."
On the roof, Gideon was panting, trying to catch his breath. "Phew, I'm gone from that witch."
"You mean my girlfriend?" He turned around and saw Luz standing with her hands in her jacket pocket. "She's brilliant isn't she?"
Gideon groaned. "How many people are in an interspecies relationship? Is that Anne girl in a relationship with those frogs that came to Earth during Frogvasion?!"
"No. Just a messed up ship." Luz replied before approaching Gideon, whom began to panic.
"Look, I have nothing to do with this, you gotta believe me!" Gideon pleaded as he approached the ledge of the building. "I'll jump! I'll jump!"
"Really?" Luz queried with intrigue. "You know…." She pulled out a pair of cuffs from her pocket. "….I was about to use these to cuff you to that pole right behind you."
Gideon seemed confused. "Wait, what pole?" He looked behind him, causing his guard to be put off and for Luz to cuff him by the wrist and her's.
"But then, I thought to myself, there's a high chance he might jump to keep information to himself therefore jeprodisring the case." Luz said. "But, if you jump and the high chance you live you could be arrested for manslaughter or attempted manslaughter or murder or attempted murder if you're taking me with you."
"You…."
Down on the ground, Amity, K, human disguised Vee, Masha and a large crowd of people gathered around. "What's going on?" Someone asked.
"Is that Luz?" Amy asked.
"Cool, a stunt show." Jason remarked. He looked at Quiet Kevin who just shook his head.
"Luz, what are you doing?!" Amity exclaimed.
"Getting the info we need Sweet Potato!" Luz replied.
"I'm sorry, sweet potato?" Gideon asked.
"Not important right now." Luz replied. "So tell me, what happened to Mark Marcus? And Boyd Peña? And the animals?"
"Mark vanished as well?!" Gideon exclaimed in surprise. "I just hired him yesterday!"
"For what?" Luz asked.
"Him and Boyd Peña, I wanted them to work for me as a chance of rehabilitation and integrate them back into society as good civilians." Gideon said. "Most people might not know this but I hire ex convicts and parolees as crew members because I know what it's like to be an ex con and everyone wants to treat you as a monster. I swear, I have nothing to do with their disappearances! Not even the animals! Or the Wendigo sightings! Have you tried asking Preston Northwest? Strange things happened since he showed up here on parole."
"So…If you aren't behind it, why did you run?" Luz asked.
"I thought they would accuse me of being behind it." Gideon replied. "But I'm not! I swear, you gotta believe me!"
Luz looked between Gideon, over the ledge and the crowd of people that gathered around to see what was going on. In the crowd, she saw Amity, K, Masha and Vee looking on with terrified expressions. But it wasn't just the people closest to her she saw, but Pacifica as well.
Now looking a lot paler and the blood that was oozing from her bare stomach, was dried up. She stared at Luz with a deadpan stare. Luz looked between the ground and Gideon while tears fell from her eyes.
"Are you okay?" Gideon asked.
"How do I know you're lying?" Luz asked.
Gideon looked scared. "What do you mean?!"
"You were willing to jump weren't you?" Luz asked.
"Yes." Gideon said. "Before all that."
"Well, how do I know you're lying?" Luz asked as she let one of her feet hover over the ledge, causing Gideon some worry.
"What are you doing?!" Gideon exclaimed.
"Well, I intend to jump to see if you're lying." Luz replied. "You see, people tend to tell the truth during moments of great distress. Such as torture or the threat of death. Unless you had some top military training that is."
"Please…."
"Luz."
"Luz!" Gideon pleaded. "You're acting crazy! And I am telling the truth!"
"Let's put that to the test." Luz walked off the building causing her to dangle by Gideon's cuffed wrist and for everyone in the crowd to panic.
"Luz!" Amity screamed.
Gideon began to pull her up all while panicking and struggling to keep his feet on the roof. "Luz…I am telling the truth! I swear! Please! Help me pull you up!"
Luz laughed. "Well…Now I believe you. Okay then." She began to pull herself up to help Gideon.
The crowd gave a sigh of relief, knowing that the girl was safe while the four detectives were still shocked by the performance.
Luz laid on top Gideon as the two panted to get their breaths back. "You are insane!" Gideon exclaimed. "Get me out of here! Get me out of these cuffs!"
After relaying the information she got from Gideon and getting down the building, Luz was walking in the forest in the direction of the house of Preston Northwest.
Mostly everyone was impressed with Luz's stunt while Amity seemed more worried with what had happened knowing what she was going through. She even had a phone call from Camila and had to explain everything.
"I'm still impressed with that stunt, Luz." Masha remarked.
"Very realistic if you ask me." Vee remarked.
"Almost too realistic." K said. "Plus, I think the west and north of that humanoid cardinal's message made sense. They weren't a direction. He was telling us who was behind it. Preston Northwest. Of course he'd do something to make sure he got his dough. Again thank you for that performance Luz. Though you didn't need to steal my cuffs, you still did great."
"Thanks." Luz said while nervously laughing. "All part of the act to get scum like Gideon to tell the truth!"
Amity stared at her girlfriend sadly while Ghost did the same thing. "She's got something going on." She approached her girlfriend slowly in an attempt to be sensitive to the subject. "Hey."
"Oh Amity." Luz smiled. "Sorry about scaring ya. Just had to get that info out."
"Luz, you do realise you needed information not give him a therapist." Amity reminded her.
"Vee would have given him one regardless." Luz retorted. "No offence."
"That's fine." Vee assured her sister. "It's fine."
"But Luz, you sure you're capable?" Amity asked. "You're not in right headspace. You're barley getting any sleep, you wanna kill yourself, you're screaming and now you're acting all intense and not caring. This isn't you. And I don't like it. Luz, I know you still have these thoughts running through your head…."
"Amity." Luz interjected by stopping and narrowing her eyes at her. "I'm not gonna hurt myself. If I do at some point, I assure you it's on accident. I'm not gonna try and end my life. I'd hate to leave this world while Preston Northwest is still alive."
Amity froze at that sentence. "Luz…What are you saying?"
"Preston is still alive." Luz replied. "He killed my dad many years ago. And in return, I took his daughter from him. It's fair."
Amity froze and stared at her girlfriend in horror over what she had said. This was not Luz, she wasn't this spiteful, mean or heartless. She was slowly becoming something she did not like.
"We're here." K said.
They made it round a corner where they were greeted by a big mansion. "Woah!" Masha exclaimed. "For a former convict, this guy's loaded."
"Wait, if he's a former convict why wasn't he taken?" Vee asked.
"A: He's behind it." K said. "Or B: He's rich. But no, he's not that rich. A relative of his lent him this house after he passed away. Don't ask how he makes his dough. The mudflap business in Gravity Falls closed down due to undisclosed reasons." K began approaching the house. "I need you four to stay out here while I interview him."
"Why?" Luz asked. "Think we can't handle a heartless capitalist?"
"No, due to how heavy your emotions are you might start snapping." K said. "I know how much detest you have toward this man. I detest him as well. But pleas Miss Noceda, don't interfere." He walked up the stairs of the manor while the others walked toward a bush to hide from him.
"Okay, so while he talks to that man what should we do?" Masha asked.
"I haven't brought my Shonen Manga." Vee replied. "Maybe we can play 20 questions."
"Luz, maybe we can talk?" Amity asked her girlfriend.
Luz just sighed. "Yeah sure."
"Give is a sec, you two." Amity said before she and Luz left to talk to each other, in private, leaving Masha and Vee alone.
"How about we play twenty questions about each other?" Masha asked.
"To see who's the most loyal significant other?" Vee asked. "Or….Truth or dare."
"Sure, okay." Masha smiled. "Okay, what do you want?"
"Dare." Vee said.
"Okay, thrill seeker." Masha grinned. "Shape-Shift into something sexy. Like for example, someone in a bikini."
"Does it have to be anything specific?" Vee asked.
"Well, it's a subjective word." Masha replied.
Vee smiled. "Sure thing." She then shape changed into Masha, causing the enby to blush wildly.
"Um….I'll go for truth on my turn." Masha said.
Meanwhile at the mansion, K had knocked on the door of the slightly huge house. After a few moments, a tall man in a fancy suit, supposedly his bodyguard, opened the door. He had dark skin and was bald.
"What do you want?" The man spoke in a gruff voice that was deep, almost cybernetic.
"Sorry my knocking annoyed you." K said.
"What knocking?" The man asked. "I was just letting this officer out."
The same officer that preached Masha this morning walked out of the house with a smug grin. "Thanks for everything Mr Northwest! And don't worry, there won't be problems!" He walked away while K stared at the tall man.
"Listen, I wish to talk to your boss." K said.
"On whose authority?" He asked.
"The FBI's authority." K whipped out his badge and showed it to the man.
He snarled and narrowed his eyes at K. "You were meant to keep an eye on him, weren't you?"
"Unfortunately, I got distracted by another case as opposed to some rich capitalist." K said.
"Of course." The guard said. "He's in his billiard room. And I assure you, you won't be finding the murder victim in there with the candlestick."
"Board game references?" K asked.
"Yeah." The bodyguard replied while clenching his fists intensely.
In the billiard room, Preston was busy throwing darts at the wall while drinking some expensive brandy from a glass. He was dressed in a maroon dressing gown while a ginormous fireplace with a roaring fire, stood behind him. He took a sip of his brandy with an obnoxious grin.
"It feels so good to be rich."
The bodyguard walked in on his boss through overlarge doors. "Mr Northwest."
"What is it Razorblade?" Preston asked.
"That weird FBI agent you rant about is here." Razorblade said before leaving and allowing K to enter.
Preston groaned. "What do you want?"
"Relax Preston, you are not under arrest." K said while analysing one of his desks by the door. On it was a book on genetics, an unopened letter from someone named Michelle Howard and a Bobby pin. He began to poke around the desk which got the man's attention.
"Hey!"
K quickly put what he was picking up back on the small desk. "Sorry. It didn't look important anyway."
"What do you want?" Preston asked. "Can't you see I'm in the middle of something important?" He pointed to a picture of Dipper he had hanging on his wall filled with tiny little dart holes. Implying he had been using that image for target practice. "I swear I'll be dead before I see the day I have grandchildren with his DNA."
K looked to the floor, knowing Preston would never have grandchildren. "Mr Northwest, I wish to talk to you about the strange going ons."
"Oh you mean that wretched Skinwalker sighting?" Preston scoffed. "It was on my property one time. I tried to have it shot, but it got away. I swore it screamed I'm one of you."
"Not that." K said. "I mean, the animal carcasses and the missing people."
Preston walked towards the 'dartboard' and pulled out the darts so he could start again. "And what do I have to do with this?"
"It's just, I did some investigating and I found some interesting tidbits." K explained. "Someone said that they noticed all these strange things going on when you arrived and someone I know claimed to have witnessed a creature saying north and west. You might have known this person's father."
"Who is it?" Preston asked.
"Was." K corrected him.
"Oh. Wait, you think I'm behind these?" Preston chuckled. "Special Agent K, I think you're reaching to conclusions."
"Well, you're not exactly the most innocent." K said while looking to a bookcase and noticing something odd. He walked towards the wall and noticed that there was a little gap, implying that it was some kind of entrance.
"I know but things have changed." Preston said before reaching into a drawer and pulling out a gun that he used to shoot the image of Dipper.
"I hope you have a license for that." K said. "Because I could arrest you for carrying an unlicensed firearm."
"Oh, you'd like that?" Preston retorted.
"I'd be indifferent." K replied. "Now answer my question: Do you have anything to do with these recent events?"
"I assure you I do not." Preston said. "You can interview me or interrogate me or talk with my lawyers. But I assure you, I have nothing to do with your little animal investigation or missing criminals or machine."
Then, a bodyguard burst through the door with a gun. "I heard shots sir! Or were you playing target practice on your son-in-law?"
"Don't worry, Eric." Preston said while reloading. "It's all perfectly fine. Could you escort the guest off my premises?"
"It's okay." K said while walking out. "I got what I need. Which is nothing as far as I'm aware of. I'll see you at the meeting Mr Northwest." As he walked out, he saw his bodyguard grinning, revealing a flash of a gold tooth.
K looked to the man with an intrigued look as he approached the door. As he walked to it, he was greeted by Razorblade, whom was narrowing his eyes at him.
"I'd watch myself, pale one." Razorblade said. "My grandfather was part of a tribe in the Navajo tribe and told me tales of the Wendigo."
"Relax, the Wendigo means nothing to me for now." K then realised something. "You don't look to be of Native American descent."
"I meant my paternal grandfather." He explained. "Also, I recommend the Tale of Moby Dick amazing story."
K looked to the man and subtlety thanked him. "I'll take that advice to heart."
K began walking back to the group while Razorblade watched on. "Oh! And don't come back at 10:30. It's Preston's bedtime."
Meanwhile, Vee and Masha were still playing truth or dare. "Truth." Masha said.
"Did you eat the last cookie?" Vee asked.
"Uh….Dare." Masha said while sweating.
Vee grinned. "I dare you to tell me if you ate the last cookie."
Masha narrowed their eyes at their girlfriend. "You reptilian, bitch." Vee just gave a smug smile.
Meanwhile, Luz and Amity were afar having their own discussion. Amity was pacing about while Luz was standing by the tree with her arms folded.
Amity had been trying to think of what to say for the last five minutes as she was trying to be sensitive toward the situation.
"Luz….I….What do you mean?"
"Huh?" Luz reacted.
"He took your Dad away, you took his daughter away." Amity reiterated to her. "What do you mean?"
Luz looked over Amity's shoulder to see Pacifica looking at her again. Only this time, she appeared to be rotting with most of her skin falling off.
Luz looked alarmed at first but then turned to Amity whom was giving her a stern look. "Well?"
Luz sighed. "Isn't it obvious? You know what Preston did. He killed my Dad all because he wanted to do the right thing. And in return, I killed his daughter."
"Luz, don't say that!" Amity exclaimed. "You did not kill Pacifica. How many times do we need to go through this?"
"She helped me fight Belos during the Day of Unity." Luz said. "And she died protecting me. I could have saved her!"
"Luz, don't be so selfish." Amity said. "You know you aren't to blame for her death. You and her willingly took on Belos because you wanted to stop him and protect Hunter. That's why."
"Then why do I still see her?" Luz asked.
Amity froze. "What?"
"I see her." Luz explained. "I see her rotting away while she stares at me. She's haunting me. I can't stand it. So, to make things better, I'm going to tell Preston about his daughter and then….I don't know what I'll do. Maybe it will give me a reason to live."
Amity was stunned. "You can't know that. Luz, what you're saying is crazy talk!"
"I mean, if he did care for his daughter then maybe he might end up taking my life." Luz gave a tearful smile. "And a chance for everyone to be happy."
Amity was stunned by what her girlfriend was saying. Her eyes began to water as she narrowed her eyes at Luz. "Luz! How could you say something like that?! Do you think I'd be happy if you were gone?!"
"I separated you from your family." Luz said. "I failed to stop Belos! I got Pacifica killed. Why would I deserve death? Why would anyone care if I'm gone? Because I'm just a burden after all."
Amity then grabbed Luz by her shoulders and pushed her against the tree with tears falling from her eyes. "Because you're the only thing that is keeping me together!" Luz stared at her girlfriend with a stunned expression. "Before you came along into my life, I had thoughts about jumping off a cliff into the boiling sea or being impaled on one of the rocks that reside on the shore. But you…Being here made my life bearable! And ever since we arrived here with no way of coming back, you being there has helped me from wanting to hurt myself!" She began sobbing on Luz's chest, causing the human witch to feel some guilt over her behaviour. She didn't realise how much her self hatred had affected everyone around her, until now. "I have lost everything! My Dad has been taken over and I don't know about Edric or Emira, but you are all I have left! Sure I have people like your mom, Marcy, Vee, Masha, Ghost and K, but I can't lose you Luz! I don't want to lose you! I….Never want to lose you!"
As Amity sobbed into her shirt, Luz stared off into the distance again where the corpse of Pacifica stood. Now, she was close to being a skeleton. It shook her head before walking away.
Luz looked to her girlfriend whose sobbing was now resorted to uncontrollable crying. Tears welled in Luz's eyes before she couldn't take it anymore and wrapped her girlfriend in a huge hug before dropping to her knees.
"I'm so sorry, Amity! I'm so sorry!" Luz cried. "I'm so sorry!" They cried harder as their grip tightened on one another. "I won't go anywhere. I won't."
"Luz…." Amity sniffled.
"I know." Luz kissed her girlfriend's forehead to give her some reassurance. "I'm so sorry."
While they continued to hug, K, Vee and Masha were standing in place apparently watching them each with their own expressions. Masha and Vee looked emotional while K was giving a blank stare.
Then, after the crying episode which lasted for a good 46 minutes, everyone was eating at a fast food restaurant to get their thoughts together. They sat in the benches by the window with Luz and Amity sitting across from Masha, Vee and K.
"Preston is definitely up to something." K said.
"Duh, he's rich." Masha retorted. "They're always shifty."
"Not all rich people!" The officer from this morning retorted from the seat behind Masha.. "Can't judge a people by their wealth. Hey loser behind the counter, you're poor because you work at fast food." He laughed as he took a bite from his burger.
"What did you find about Preston?" Luz asked. "Besides being a rich jerk who killed my Dad!" Amity placed her hand on Luz's to calm her down.
"Well, while Vee and Masha were playing truth or dare and you two were crying, I saw Preston shooting a cardboard cutout of Dipper possibly for dating his daughter. Well, he'll be relived for a minute before possibly being disappointed once he finds out why."
"Did he even care for his daughter?" Vee asked.
"From the stories Pacifica told, not really." Amity replied.
"I also found a bookshelf and it appeared to be a door." K explained. "And I don't think it leads to a superhero cave. Preston may be rich, but I doubt he's a superhero like Rodent Man."
"I assume he hasn't said anything about the events?" Vee asked.
"Not really." K replied. "Oh and Luz, do you think you could identify anyone from a drawing?" K pulled out a pen and began drawing on one of the napkins. He then used opened a pack of mustard that he dipped a fry into before using it on the napkin and then eating it.
"I guess so, why?" Luz asked.
He showed Luz a picture of the golden toothed bodyguard he saw, using the mustard to represent the golden tooth. This sight made Luz's eyes widen. "Oh my Titan! That's the cop!"
"Judging by his lack of file, not really." K said. "He is most likely impersonating one." He got out his phone and began dialling a number.
"Who are you calling?" Masha asked.
"Someone." K said as the phone dialled. "Hello….X….Yes it's me….Look….You know how intelligent I am….Wait, what's that music?"
On the other end, X was dancing in a club. "Oh, there's this party on Fire Island that is also a front for a secret drug trade!"
"Using loud music to drown out your intentions….Good job."
Mr X paused. "Sure…Yes, that's what I'm doing. Not like I'm getting into the song or anything. Okay, okay, enough, what's the situation?"
"X, I need you to get a team of agents from Washington and New York at the time of 23:25" K requested.
X seemed baffled. "Why? Why not now?"
"X, trust me." K said. "I have a plan that is set to be executed at 22:50."
Five hours later, Luz, Amity, K, Masha and Vee had just arrived outside the manor to begin the mission.
Masha and Vee were dressed in some black clothing which included some black face paint, Luz was just dressed in her regular clothes while holding a baseball bat and Amity was sitting on Ghost getting some instructions.
"Whatever you do, don't lose that phone." K said. "The password is 442007."
"Okay." Amity said.
"Whatever image or photo I send, quickly send it to X." K explained.
"I think I got it." Amity said. "It's like Penstagram."
K walked to Mash and Vee just as Luz approached her girlfriend. "You sure you'll be safe? You know who's in there."
"I got K, Vee and Masha beside me." Luz explained. "I'll be okay. Oh and Amity, thanks for telling me. I had no idea how bad my depression was getting."
"Look Luz, I know I should worry about myself but right now, I need to worry about you." Amity said. "And I won't stop until I have the girl I fell in love with, back."
"I hope you don't." Luz said. "Just be safe. Okay?"
"You too." She and Luz shared a kiss before the witch ascended in the air to watch over.
Luz smiled at her amazing girlfriend before turning to K, whom was judging Masha and Vee. "Okay, you two didn't need to go with the that."
"What?" Masha asked. "We're committing breaking and entering offences. Don't wanna be seen."
"I'm an FBI agent." K reminded his cousin. "I can just manipulate your record to my liking."
"Oh well." Masha said. "Come on cousin, let's lock up an old man."
When they got to the door, Luz tried opening it, but it was unfortunately locked. K got in front of Luz and pulled a Bobby pin from his pocket. He used it to unlock the door with a click.
They quickly got inside and quietly closed the door shut so nothing suspicious could be seen. Vee was about to turn on a light switch until K stopped her.
"No." K said before pulling out his phone. "Quiet as possible and be in the dark like a fly on the wall." He used the phone's torch to light the way toward the billiard room.
Walking toward the room, they saw an overlarge painting of Preston standing over the corpse of what looked like a deer that hung over a small desk.
Masha managed to see a picture on a small table of a picture of Preston with two line drawn next to him. Possibly people he doesn't want to remember.
They entered the billiard room to see the ginormous fire had stopped roaring and the Dipper target was still up.
"Wow, he must have hated his latest book." Vee remarked.
"Now, bookshelf." Luz said.
The four approached the bookshelf and began to stare at the books that were stacked on each shelf in a straight line. Everyone began to analyse the books to figure out which one could lead to the entrance.
"Which book?" Masha asked.
"I feel Battle of Thrones." Vee said before pulling that book, but unfortunately, nothing. "Nope."
"Actually, I'm gonna go with Razorblade's recommendation." K said before pulling The Adventures of Moby Dick, causing the bookshelf to slide open. It revealed a dark spiral staircase with torches lit up. "In all seriousness, Razorblade has a good taste in books."
They began walking down the staircase as slowly as possible to not draw attention. When they go to the bottom, they were greeted by two passages. One with a white light on the left and the other with green light in the front.
"We split up." K said. "Vee, Masha, you go in there while me and Luz take the one on the right."
Masha held their cousin by the shoulder. "Be safe."
K just smiled. "Trust me." He and Luz began walking down the corridor where they quietly talked.
"So, did the contractors just not ask about this?" She asked.
As Vee and Masha walked down the corridor, they themselves began to wonder. "Hey, when this house was being built did the contractors ever like ask about this secret part?" Vee asked.
"I don't know." Masha replied. "Seems very extravagant to have this. And you know what's funny, this house isn't even 100 hundred years old. Seriously, the contractors must have been very tight lipped to not question this dark chamber with a spiral staircase, elaborate torches on the wall and these dark passages that lead to goddess knows where."
"Hey, me and Quiet Kevin were just discussing that!" The sudden voice of Jason startled the couple.
They ran down the corridor to get to the end where they saw a small corridor of chambers with bulletproof glass and a bunch of people inside them. A few of them had people while others had something else entirely.
"What is this place?" Masha asked.
They turned to the cell where Jason and Quiet Kevin were being held. "Oh hey, Marky."
"Masha."
"Did you realise you had a criminal record as well?" Jason asked.
"Were you guys captured by Preston as well?" Vee asked. "Also, why are you two sharing a cell?"
"Oh, they didn't have any room for the cosplayers so they kept me and Quiet Kevin the same cell." Jason replied. "Which is a good thing because Jason and Quiet Kevin is like having cereal without milk."
"You're supposed to have milk on cereal?!" Vee exclaimed.
"Wait, what cosplayers?" Masha asked before looking to the cell next door. What they saw, horrified them and Vee.
In the cell next to Jason and Quiet Kevin, was a humanoid otter that began banging on the cell door to try and get out. This frightened the couple that they backed off into another cell where they were frightened by a human turtle screaming in pain. And then another, where they were terrified by a human walrus, screaming in pain.
Masha and Vee then back off into a cell where Razorblade was present, banging on the cell. "What are you kids doing here?!"
Vee and Masha stared at them in horror and terror. "What are they?"
"You mean who were they?" Razorblade reiterated. "You see that turtle, that was Maria Horace, a woman that was accused of driving without a licence and got six months in prison; That walrus, was Ving Lemon, a former gang member who went to prison for seven years; And that otter, was Mark Marcus."
"Marcus?!" Jason exclaimed. "Why are you an otter?"
"Why are you in here?" Vee asked Razorblade.
"I was the security guard of Preston Northwest but….I was put in here." Razorblade replied. "Not for helping an FBI agent, but for assault and battery charges 12 years ago. Now, I'm about to become one of them." He motioned to Mark's cell which made Vee and Masha stare at it in horror and realisation.
"Oh my Titan!" Vee said.
Jason and Quiet Kevin were also shocked. "Holy crap, Quiet Kevin! You know what this could mean?" Quiet Kevin nodded his head. "There's a chance we'll be turned to monkeys!" He high fived his best friend while Razorblade shook his head.
"At this point I'd rather be turned into an animal and be auctioned off." Razorblade said while Masha took picture of the cell to send to Amity.
"Huh, I got good service down here." Masha remarked.
"Well Preston wasn't exactly bright." Razorblade said. "Just like how he never thought to change the passwords of the cells once I was locked in here."
"Oh come on man! You could have told us!" Jason exclaimed.
Razorblade groaned and hit his head against the glass. "You're unfortunately gonna have to be here a long time unlocking all 42 cells."
Meanwhile, Luz and K were still walking down the corridor. They had been walking for the last 3 minutes until they were greeted by the shining bright light.
They walked through the open double doors, where they got to see a large room that looked like some kind of rich person's garage where they would keep all their shiny and expensive cars.
But there weren't any cars in the room, just a bunch of chairs with a bunch of people sitting in them, dressed in fancy clothing. There was a stage that had two machines standing in a far proximity away from one another.
K forced Luz behind one of the open doors so they weren't caught. "What is this?" Luz asked. "Is it the Illuminati?"
"No." K replied.
"You said no like you know what the Illuminati is." Luz remarked.
"I can neither confirm nor deny its existence." K said.
Then, someone walked on the stage. It was none other than Preston Northwest, dressed in his fanciest suit and tie, whom got a round of applause from everyone.
"My fellow rich brothers, sisters….And the ones that don't like to be referred to us brother or sister if we have those." Preston said. "Because as far as I'm aware of we don't have one that's like us yet. Tonight, we all know what we do! We've been doing this for years so you're probably thinking, we don't need to do all this. But we do, because we have a new member to our rich club. Please give applause to Michelle Howard."
"Thank you!" Exclaimed a woman with a short black hair and wearing a dress that exposed her midriff.
Luz gagged at her dress. "Talk about bad fashion. She looks like she could fit into the Boiling Isles."
"Yes, she is not working the belly button dress." K agreed.
"Sit down, please." Michelle sat down on her seat while Preston cleared his throat. "Our slaves. We love them don't we?" The rich scumbags nodded their heads and mumbled. "We do. But where do they come from I hear you ask? Well, our slaves have to come from somewhere don't they? Eight years ago, before I was locked away by that Pines boy a whom I wished died by that beast of Connecticut and my treacherous daughter, I had people kidnapped. But that's where I was caught out. The people I kidnapped and had turned into our slaves, were people other people missed. So, I had to get creative once I was out. I had people that others wouldn't miss, taken. Ex cons, parolees and the homeless were all taken by our two great contributors." He pointed to his golden toothed bodyguard and the same cop from this morning. "My bodyguard, Rufus Stevens and real life police officer of Gravesfield, Boyd Walker."
"Happy to contribute!" Boyd exclaimed happily.
Luz and K were surprised. "So, that's how he knew who was a parolee and who wasn't." K remarked quietly. "I never asked that."
"If it weren't for them, we wouldn't have gotten our prized slaves." Preston said. "Now, how we make them slaves. You see, we go out and take the DNA of animals. We hire hunters who ask little questions. Which is a good thing. Anything would work. Fur, leg, teeth, claws or eyes, anything!" He pulled out the leg of a rabbit and threw it in one of the machines. "These two machines were inspired by an 80's horror movie where a man's teleportation dreams were destroyed when he and an insect shared the same pod. It's a really good flick by the way. Like, really well made practical effects."
"I have to agree with the psychopath." K whispered to Luz.
"But, if you've seen the movie then you know what the machine does to two organisms with two separate DNA molecules." Preston explained. "Bring out the homeless man."
"Yes sir." Boyd exclaimed before him and Rufus got out of their seats to walk toward a small tunnel. They returned with the homeless man from yesterday that warned K about the Wendigo.
K and Luz gasped. "That's him!" Luz exclaimed quietly. "That's the homeless guy I saw get taken. We have to save him."
K got his phone out. "I need to see what happens."
"Hello Mr Homeless." Preston said.
"Hello?" The homeless man responded.
"Do you know why you're here?" Preston asked.
"You're going to feed me to the Skinwalker?!" He exclaimed. "Or is it Wendigo? I always get those two mixed up."
"No, no, no, no." Preston assured him. "You're going to be okay as long as you get in the machine. Go on boy!" He reached into his pocket and pulled out a sandwich. "Go on! You want this crusty and juicy sandwich?!"
The homeless man just gave a deadpanned stare toward the rich man. "I do, but I just ate a rat so I'm not hungry." He walked in the machine and closed the door. "So, what does this do?" He then noticed something. "Hey! A rabbit's foot! This must be my lucky day."
"Just wait." Preston pushed a few buttons, causing bright lights to emit from each pod. The buyers covered their eyes while Luz and K just shielded them.
After a few minutes, the light from the first pod vanished while the light from the second pod grew brighter. Then, after a few minutes, the second light vanished.
A few good moments passed before the door to the second pod opened and then there was silence. But then, as K and Luz closed in, a menacing white paw with sharp claws shot out.
The humanoid creature looked to be very rabbit-like but only its claws were sharper and its teeth were as sharp as a predator's. It roared like it were in pain while the investors and Preston applauded.
"As you can see, this was once a man, now it is for someone to keep for their own." Preston explained. "But, we pray they're just terrified to move instead of willing to attack or otherwise…" The humanoid rabbit tried to attack Preston but then Preston shot him in the head, killing him instantly.
Luz gasped and bit down on her lips to hide her whimper while K had a blank expression while recording.
"Well, this was the first time this has happened in a while." Preston sighed. "Rufus, Boyd, take him away and get the next one."
Rufus and Boyd dragged the body away while Preston continued his little monologue. "Now, as we get our next product, I would like to tell you what this reminds me of. You see, this brand of gun was the same one that was used to kill another spontaneous creature. A cop that tried to stop me years ago." Luz's eyes widen, knowing what he was about to say. "You see, before I was locked up, that little Pines boy and my treacherous daughter worked with a cop who tried to stop what we were doing. They did, but I killed that cop and that little boy was left scarred from the beast of Connecticut. Which was like the Skinwalker that was seen around here, but it isn't. You know something, I wished the beast killed Dipper Pines. And another thing, I think I wouldn't mind it killing my daughter."
Luz gasped in horror at the last sentence. Her revenge plan was ruined. He wouldn't have cared, he was heartless. Goes to show what kind of father she had.
"Even if I was at her grave, I would just stand there, ashamed of her treachery." Preston's last words were enough for Luz as she got out of her hiding place and began to march towards the rich scumbag through the crowd of people that she walked in-between.
"PRESTON!" Luz exclaimed just as K tried to stop her, but it would have unfortunately compromised with him getting caught so he stood back.
"Uh…Can I help you?" Preston asked.
"That man you killed all those years ago, was my Dad!" Luz exclaimed.
"Rufus, Boyd!" Preston called out.
"No, Preston." Luz grinned just as tears fell from her eyes. "I'm not gonna kill you. Honestly, I had my intentions until I had something better. You took something I held dear to me. Manny Noceda, that was his name." Preston just stood in place taking things in.
"What?" Preston asked. "You took away my wife? It's okay, I don't have to pay that wretched alimony anymore." He and all the other rich scumbags just laughed instead of being afraid.
"No, I took a different member of your family away." Luz explained. "Metaphorically speaking anyway. She got killed by a man named Phillip Wittebane as she tried to protect me. I was going to brag about her being dead and how you took away my family, but then I realised, I was gonna brag about an amazing woman being dead. A woman who fought two evil monarchs even though one of them killed her, a woman who saved a young boy from being pulled into the darkness and a woman who protected me! I am proud that she existed and it's insulting that someone like you, a man who killed my father could be related to her!" Tears fell from her eyes as her anger and sadness rose. "I am grateful that she existed, it's a shame that you aren't."
Preston was at first surprised but as Luz spoke, his look just became more uncaring. He shrugged his shoulders and said, "Eye for an eye, I suppose."
"Well, Preston what are you going to do next?" Luz asked as she began to walk away. "Because I know what you and all these other rich scumbags are doing." The scumbags gave a gasp while Preston was horrified by what she had said.
"No! I can't have this child expose me!" He pulled out his gun and aimed it at Luz.
Just as he was about to shoot her, K ran out of his hiding spot with his own gun. "PRESTON!" He shot Preston in his left shoulder and right arm, causing him to drop his weapon.
The rich scumbags and panicked and scrambled to try and escape. "Okay everyone, raise your hands!"
"You had a gun?!" Luz exclaimed.
"I'm an FBI agent, of course I have a gun." K retorted. "Preston Northwest, you are under arrest for kidnapping, parole violation, illegal experimenting and murder in the first degree. This time, the jury won't be nice."
Preston seethed in pain as he held on to his bleeding arm. "You think people are going to believe you?!"
"I have all the evidence I need!" K exclaimed. "And soon, backup will arrive. So I suggest you…"
"K." Luz said.
"Luz, I know you want to shoot him." K said as the ground began to vibrate.
"K, the ground." Luz pointed out.
"Yes, it's vibrating what about it?" In that moment, K realised that the ground below him was vibrating and froze. "It's vibrating."
Everyone looked to the entrance to the direction of the stamped and their eyes widened to what they were seeing. From the distance were the humanoid animals and other humans were charging towards them, including Vee and Masha.
K's eyes widen. "Oh Masha, what have you done?"
The humanoid animals began to attack the rich people but not killing them, mainly just injuring them. A humanoid walrus was hitting one with their flipper hands, a porcupine attacked a few with their quills and dog was gnawing on one of their legs.
Boyd and Rufus tried shooting them an effort to restrain them but Razorblade showed up behind them and cracked his knuckles. "Ya'll should have resigned when you had the chance." He bashed their heads together, knocking them out.
Michelle Howard tried to escape through the exit by sneaking as quietly as possible but was greeted by Jason and Quiet Kevin.
"Going somewhere?" Jason asked as he cracked his knuckles.
Michelle raised her hands with a nervous smile on her face. "You wouldn't hit a rich lady who tried to buy one of you wouldn't you? I'm a woman after all, you can't hit me."
"You hear that Quiet Kevin, we can't teach her lesson because she's a woman." Jason said.
Quiet Kevin just chuckled. "Lady, I'm a feminist. I believe in equal opportunity."
The woman flinched nervously before Jason and Quiet Kevin began enacting their revenge by beating her up.
Luz and K ran towards a pillar to keep themselves safe where they were joined by Mash and basilisk Vee.
"Do I wanna know?" K asked.
"We had to release them." Masha argued.
"I was this close to arrested Preston!" K exclaimed. "But…They are getting their revenge." A rich person flew into the pilar, knocking them out.
"Wait, where is Preston?" Luz asked.
Meanwhile, outside the mansion, Preston crawled out of a storm shelter and began running into the nearby forest.
As he ran, he looked up to see the FBI choppers closing in. What he thought was peculiar was whom was leading them. Some teenage girl riding a stick like it were a broomstick, like a witch.
He had no time to look back, as he had to get away as fast as he could. He ran and ran deeper in the forest. He didn't know where was going, but he knew he had to get away as fast as he could.
But as he ran, he suddenly bumped into something gooey and huge. He landed on his rear and cringed at the pain he was in.
"Watch where you're…" He looked up to stare at a ginormous creature. It snarled sinisterly, leading Preston to be shocked. "Oh! It's you."
Back at the manor, a raid of soldiers burst into the mansion with their rifles out. They were greeted by K, Luz, Masha and Vee.
"They're down the spiral staircase." K explained. "Get our best scientists to reverse engineer and to try and convert these people back to normal."
"Yes sir." The Captain said before he and his men charged down the staircase.
The group walked toward the door where they were greeted by Mr X and Amity. "Luz!" Amity happily exclaimed.
"Amity!" Luz hugged her girlfriend and kissed her. "Are you okay?"
"Are you?" Amity asked.
Luz gave a weak smile. "I'm fine but, I just wanna go home."
"What's the status K?" Mr X asked.
"I shot Preston in his left shoulder and his right arm due to the fact he tried to shoot Luz. He has escaped but I will be in pursuit of him." K explained. "The inconsistent pattern of the animal killings were hunters except the ones that had their entire skin cleaned off. I will figure it out but I need to double my effort."
"Okay, thanks for the update." X turned to the kids. "You kids have done well. How about you go home and rest up?"
"Took the words out my mouth, X." Vee said.
The group walked out the house while K stayed by the front entrance and watched on. Masha turned to their cousin with a concerned expression. "K?"
K gave his cousin a smile. "I'm going to look for him. You go home. I'm going to be fine."
Masha smiled. "You better." Them and the other girls began to walk home so they can have a nice long sleep.
Once they were out of sight, K noticed from afar, a trail of blood. He walked towards it and touched it. He looked forward to the direction it was going and began to follow it. It was definitely Preston and he couldn't have gone fat judging by the amount of blood he was losing.
As he walked deeper down the forest, he began to ponder about the Wendigo. "Hmm, the Wendigo. What did it have to do with the animal killings? It's probably behind the ones being skinned to the bone. Maybe it's a Skinwalker, it did speak to Preston according to him. Saying something along the lines of I am human. Why would it say that? They tend to impersonate the deceased victims. But who was deceased? And why would it say I am human? And why would it run away from an attack like that?"
"Maybe because I am not a monster." Said a sinister voice.
K turned around without flinching to face the creature. It had blue eyes all over its body, sharp teeth, sharp claws, long white hair and goo dripping from them. In its hand was Preston's corpse, appeared to be being feasted on as his entire chest was missing.
The beast tossed it aside and snarled at K. "I've seen you." He said. "You've hung around with Luz and that witch."
K sighed and just stared at him. "Belos, I assume."
"Oh, you know me?"
"Of course." K said. "Luz told me everything about you. That man you killed was the father of the human woman you killed in the Demon Realm."
Belos snarled. "Pity, I killed three of my kind."
"That man performed inhumane experiments so I say you're doing the world a favour." K said as he aimed his gun at him. "But what you did in the Demon Realm is worth being executed." He pulled the cock of his weapon while Belos chuckled.
"Don't be so certain." Belos said. "Witch lover!" He began charging towards the FBI agent, who began to shoot at him. But unfortunately, his bullets were useless against him as he charged closer towards him.
K stopped firing and tossed his weapon into Belos' face, blinding him for a while. He tried to scratch the human, but he only jumped to the side and punched him in his face.
He tried scratching him again, but K just kicked him in the face. Then Belos managed to get a scratch on his face.
K then hit Belos with a barrage of punches, causing him to stumble a bit. Belos snarled before pouncing toward K and grabbing him with his teeth by the hem of his shirt.
He began to flail him around like a predator playing with their food before tossing him aside and into a tree. His action, caused K's hem to be destroyed, exposing his scarred abdomen.
Belos was about to pounce on him but the agent was too fast and jumped right back up. He punched Belos a few times again and Belos retaliated with a few scratches to his arm, chest and leg.
The two panted, trying to get their breath together. Belos snarled at him while K just narrowed his eyes.
"What happened to us?" Belos asked. "Why is man attempting to save the witches?!"
"Because, nobody likes witch hunters anymore." K replied. "People like you are considered outdated and unneeded. Just a bunch of paranoid and superstitious morons who slaughtered innocent people because they were terrified of a world that was evolving and couldn't blame anything rational for your problems. That's why. Nobody cares about you."
Belos screamed in anger. "Enough!" Him and K charged toward each other with their respective fists raised. The agent jammed his fist in Belos' chest and grabbed something. It felt shard like.
Whatever he grabbed, caused his eyes to turn green. But it wasn't just K.
At the Wu residence, Marcy was sleeping peacefully, trying to recover from her brain surgery. That was when, she suddenly shot up, wide awake, her eyes glowing green.
In her's and K's vision, they saw K's lifeless body, Masha crying, Masha yelling at Vee and marching out the room, Marcy being reunited with Anne and Sasha, Marcy seeing Luz standing on her desk while yelling at the class, Marcy being invited to some Halloween night by two hipster looking students, joining everyone for a Halloween night, seeing Hunter possessed while holding Flapjack in his hand, walking in the Demon Realm, trapped in some green vine, seeing Luz with a glowing staff, fighting Luz with a bunch of people including Pacifica and seeing Luz die in front of her.
K opened his eyes and gasped at what he saw. But due to his reaction, he didn't react to Belos stabbing him in his chest.
K looked down at where Belos stabbed him and was in shock. He saw Belos just snarling sinisterly like he didn't care for his life.
"I'm sorry." Belos said. "It was the only way I could save you."
Instead of being shocked, K just grabbed Belos' wrist and jammed himself further into his blade. This act surprised Belos, causing him to back off a bit.
K just smiled and stared at Belos. "It has to happen." He then went limp, as the remaining light that was in him, extinguished.
Belos tossed his lifeless body aside and snarled. "What a waste." He ran away to live another day, not caring about the life he took.
Marcy sat in her bed with tears falling from her eyes. Like she had felt K dying. She pressed her hands against her mouth and gave a whimper. "K."
