Hello, and thank you for checking this story out.
I used to watch 'Xiaolin Showdown' as a kid and I recently rewatched most of the show; I decided to write this story because the concept had been in my head for a while, and after checking out a fanfic with a similar idea, I decided to write this one just in case anybody else was interested in the idea of Jack Spicer in other shows.
The fanfic I checked out was Evil's Comeback by D_rissing, Nightmaster000 on ao3. I only took a bit of inspiration from it but I would feel bad if I didn't mention it.
So enjoy the story…possibly.
"Damnit!" The red-haired teen exclaimed as he threw his wrench across his evil lair, (but it's actually his parents' vacation home basement).
The currently very frustrated teen was Jack Spicer, evil boy genius, future ruler of the world, and the worst shen gong wu hunter to ever live, the latter being the reason for his sour mood.
It all started earlier that day, a day like any other, a new Wu showed up and when he went to get it, the Monks and Chase Young were already there. And when the showdown started, they both outclassed him again. Nobody focused on the pathetic Jack Spicer when they had more concerning enemies, so they all ignored him like a meager ant along their path. When the others finally addressed him, it was after the showdown, as Raimundo, who was collecting the Wu he had won from the showdown, made a joke about him.
EARLIER THAT DAY
"Jeez Spicer, do you think you'll ever get tired of having your butt handed to you?" Raimundo teased with the changing chopsticks, which was one of Spicer's few Shen Gong wu. Raimundo wasn't the only one though; the other monks soon chimed in.
"Even a one-eyed snake tied in a knot could beat Ol' Spicer in a showdown."
"Hey, that's insulting! Don't compare that poor creature to Spicer!"
"I don't get it, who is giving Spicer his buttox?"
"No, Omi. It's…. Ah, never mind."
Jack could only glare at his arch enemies; they always had to go and taunt him. "Well, don't worry, Xiaolin losers," he said. "I'll be sure to take your wu in the next showdown! For I am Jack Spicer!"
Jack stopped his declaration when he heard that laugh, a laugh all too familiar to him. He turned around to see Wuya, in her usual solid state, looking down at him. At some point, Chase had left, but Wuya remained.
"Oh please Jack, you're only embarrassing yourself at this point, nobody sees you as an actual Wu hunter! You're a joke! The only good thing you did was get me out of that box. And with that, the Wuya left, staying for a moment only to dig into him, of course she did.
The monks had already gone their own way to discuss how to combat Chase Young in the next battle, leaving Jack… alone… again.
BACK TO A SAD JACK SPICER
Spicer sighed as he looked down at the heap of Jackbot parts on his worktable, yet another casualty of his failures. Normally, he would just shrug off such insults and continue on his path of world domination, but now it felt like all his memories of failure had resurfaced in his mind. He used to be a threat! The monks were always worried about Jack Spicer! But as more villains joined the race for power, and the stronger the monks became, the more they started thinking of him not as a threat, but more of a...pest.
While everyone else progressed in their power and skill, Jack Spicer remained stagnant; no, he actually got weaker as his robot army began to dwindle. In order to save money for his army (since his parents will only give a few millions), he frequently scavenges cheap parts from junkyards, and it shows in his machines' durability.
The thoughts of how the monks and fellow Heylin thought of him as nothing but a joke were stuck in his mind, making it too hard to focus on his work. He couldn't help but lament on his own failures. When he freed Wuya and discovered the existence of magical items called Shen Gong Wus, he thought it was destiny; these items would help him in his conquest of the world! It only got better when he found out about the monks - at first, he saw them as an annoyance, but he later saw them as his first nemesis. However, they didn't see him as a respected rival.
DING DONG!
His thoughts were interrupted when the doorbell rang; Spicer put down the controller and made his way out of the basement to answer the door. Normally, he would have gotten food from his chef bot, but he wanted something different today - Chinese takeout.
After he got his food, he sat down to watch some stories on the World Evil Channel.
As he watched TV, Jack compared himself to the villains on screen. What separated him from them? Why was he making no progress while others were amassing armies that could take on entire countries? Why was he a joke, while others could make knees tremble with just a single breath? These questions bothered him to no end. He needed a change, something to get him back on track. He was in a slump, while everyone else seemed to be soaring. But what could he do about it?
As Jack pondered this to himself, he took out his fortune cookie and broke it open. After eating the cookie, he took his fortune and read it.
Routine leads to compliance
'….What….?' Jack's thoughts seized after he read the fortune, for right then it became clear, why he was failing, why he wasn't getting better, and why he was considered a joke.
"I need to stop hunting shen gong wu!" Jack yelled his declaration as he jumped up from his sofa and started running around his lair. "I've gotten obsessed with Shen gong Wu! Why?! I stand no chance in a showdown when a bunch of teenage supernatural warriors and an immortal are hunting them too! I was fighting a losing battle! I've gotten so used to it I never thought to stop! But no more! I'll find a new way to conquer the world rather than Shen gong wu, then I'll come back and take them all on with my new power! Yes, I'll…. I'll…. I've got nothing. Now that I think about it, what was my original plan to take over the world?" As Jack stopped his running he considered the question he asked himself. He realized the truth. Jack had no plan. Before Wuya came into his life he hadn't really acted upon his whole conquer the world goal; he mostly spent his days designing inventions and producing Jackbots.
"So Shen gong Wu is out of the question; I can't use magic, but what else can I do?" As Jack pondered this to himself, he sat back down on his sofa and scratched his chin in thought. His machines always failed in battle, but maybe he could upgrade them - that should be on the to-do list. But having a magical boon like Shen gong Wu was a huge help; too bad there isn't another option.
"THAT'S IT!!" Jack shot up and out of his seat and ran to his storage of all his evil creations. "Who says Wu are the only magical relics that exist? If they exist why can't others, other magical items with no Wuya, no Chase Young, and certainly no Xiaolin losers after them too." After finishing his thought aloud (as he tends to do) Jack finally found what he had been searching for, his Wu tracker.
"If I can track Wu with this maybe I can tune it to find other magical items, all I'd have to do is change up the frequency and widen the search restrictions. Another scan from a wu might help." Jack grabbed the last wu he owned after his many defeats, the monkey staff, a personal favorite of his and he put the staff on his work bench and started his new project. He widened the frequency used to find Wu in order to find things that differentiate from its energy signature, then he shortened the range so it wouldn't break itself on the chance there's a million magical items in the world and it found too many at once.
"Now that I have my magic tracker, I can begin my journey to conquer the world, and no monks are going to stop me this time HAHAHAHAHA…..but I should probably pack first, and tomorrow Jack Spicer will be worldwide!"
Hello again and thank you for reading. My main plan with this story is to have Jack Spicer travel across other cartoons that are in his world, some of it won't make as much sense with certain shows sharing his planet but it is a cartoon fanfic so screw it.
Some shows I plan to use are: El Tigre, My Life as a Teenage Robot, Powerpuff Girls, Jake Long: American Dragon, and The Life and Times of Juniper Lee. I do have other shows I was considering, but I don't know if I'll use them yet.
I also plan to give Spicer some sort of a love interest or two (because I'm a shipper), and I don't want to use an OC for that, so feel free to recommend any character from a cartoon that you think would work well.
If you have a cartoon to recommend then please put it in the comments and I'll consider it, feel free to leave comments and have a wondrous day!
