Heyyooo welcome to chapter 3. Loved writing this one same as the last 2, very fun and a lot of creative ideas for it as well. I'm trying to keep the word count to 6k so it's not too short but also not too long. But I hope you enjoy reading it anyway.
A month has passed since the hostage situation. Things kept quiet for Lincolns team. Having what happened to him by almost getting choked to death and tackling a guy with a grenade to the floor, it didn't affect him later. Yeah, it messed him up a little and shook Lincoln, but he was able to just not think about it anymore. Adams recommended a therapist for Lincoln to see, but Lincoln refused. It wasn't that he tried to seem tough, he just really didn't seem phased or mentally damaged from it.
For the first time since Lincoln joined the army, he killed three people. While he was in the army before joining delta, he hadn't killed anyone. He didn't even fire his gun apart from the training. That day was his first ever time firing his gun. Killing not one, not two, but three.
The moment he aimed his gun at the last man with the grenade, Lincoln almost killed four people in one day. But he knew he couldn't without knowing if he shot the man and the grenade would detonate. So, tackling him was the only choice. His men did kill the rest, but Lincoln feeling responsible for the lives of three people that were about to take others' lives didn't bother him for long. He might have taken a couple lives, but he saved a whole lot of others.
After a month of being in England, Lincoln had trained and travelled around the UK. Going to Scotland, Wales and even Ireland to see other SAS teams for training. Right now, Lincoln was back in England after training with the teams of the SAS in Wales. He had taught them his teams' tactics and was taught their tactics. Both were very similar, but they took different approaches to simple situations.
Lincoln was now in the quarters. It was very less like a bootcamp quarters, it was almost like the ones he had in Iraq. It was regular single beds with posters up on the walls, family photos and letters and their weapons hanged up over their bed. Their gear as well was hanged up along with some more belongings on shelves. It was like a home for them. Lincoln and his team made themselves at home with the SAS. It was like going camping, except instead of building fires and using compasses for fun, Lincoln was going on missions and holding nothing, but a firearm and his team's lives.
Lincoln was sat on his bed reading one of the letters his family was able to send after the army had sent confirmation of receiving letters. Lincoln got all 12 letters from his family. From Lilly to Lori and even from mom and dad. Lincoln read every single one from them, all wishing him luck and some even slightly begging him to come home. Lincoln had a little tear down his eye, but he wiped it and kept reading. Lincoln was also dressed in regular army trousers and belt and wearing a black body armour shirt he wears under his gear to stay warm depending how cold it is. It was tight around his muscles, but it kept him warmer better than a heater. Peters then walked into the quarters wearing the same thing as Lincoln and the rest of the men. Lincoln was alone in the room and when he saw Peters, he put down the letters and sat up from his bed.
"Hey Peters" Lincoln greeted him.
"Hey Lincoln, just the man I wanted to see" Peters said clapping his hands.
"Oh? What's up?" Lincoln asked as he put the letters away and stood up from his bed.
"The rest of your men are heading to get tattoos in the town, you wanting to come with?" Peters asked him.
"Oh yeah sure, could use some time out here" Lincoln said.
Peters clapped his hands again "Perfect, when you're ready we'll be in the van in 10 minutes in the hanger, they're just cleaning up from training" Peters said as he left "change out of those trousers too!" he shouted as he was outside.
Lincoln shook his head laughing.
10 minutes later
Lincoln was now in the usual van dressed in blue jeans and a Helikon infantry duty black fleece jacket him and the rest of the men carried with them for travelling. The rest of the men had a mix of different clothes.
"So sarge, you looking to a get a tattoo with us?" one of Lincolns men asked him in the van.
"Uh, I didn't say anything about getting a tattoo, I just wanted to get out" Lincoln said before the rest of his men started telling him what to get.
The men started to talk amongst themselves. Talking about what tattoos they're going to get and where they're going to go after. Lincoln just stayed quiet amongst the rest. Adams and Peters were in the other van while Lincoln stayed in the one with his men. He grown more closer to Adams and Peters than his own team, he couldn't connect with them as good as he did with Adams and Peters.
Thinking back to what happened a month ago, Lincoln still wasn't bothered by what happened. Even being sprayed with blood after shooting the man in the chest and shooting the other behind the door and shooting the other man. He was worried however about leaving the building with the blood visible on his gear and cameramen looking at him. Wonder if his sisters saw that?
The family watched the tv in horror as they saw bombs going off and gun fire erupting from the screen. Lynn Sr held his wife in his arms as they were worried for the people inside.
"It looks to be as if special forces have intervened with the situation!" The reporter announced off screen as the camera was shakily focusing on the building "It is unclear if things are under control as there hasn't been any more gun fire. The men are now exiting the building with the hostages! It looks like the hostages are secured!"
"Nice they saved them bro!" Luna cheered as everyone else did.
"Looks like the UK knows how to handle their terrorism" Lori said as she held Lilly close in front of her.
It wasn't over yet.
"Wait look!" Lola got everyone's attention as she pointed to the tv.
Running out the door and in tow was two soldiers dressed in their black gear the same as their comrades. Running to the hostages who were now on their knees with their hands behind their head.
"There is a pair of soldiers running out the building and to the hostages. One of them is covered in blood, hopefully not injured"
Lori covered Lilly's eyes "You don't need to see that, Lilly. That's not for you" Lori said. Lilly was in aww as she wanted to see what was happening.
Back on the tv one of the men spoke to the other and running off to the other men. The figure staying behind watched all the hostages and pointed to one.
"It seems as there's some sort of dispute taking place with one of the men and the hostages. He is signalling him to stand up but the man is refusing to do so"
Everyone stayed silent as they watched what was happening. Through the tv and the screams from the street.
"GRENADE!"
The hostages ran away, and the man was tackled by the soldier. Punches were thrown and the camera zoomed in a little. Seeing the figure pull out his sidearm and press it up against into the man's neck shouting.
"THAT'S ENOUGH NO MORE!"
The man dropped the grenade.
"It looks like the hostage was a terrorist and possessing an explosive. Luckily the hooded man stopped him in time before more disaster struck. He is truly a hero amongst the rest of the other men"
"Oh my god" Luan mumbled as she watched the screen.
"That man is a hero!" Lynn Sr said as he was in disbelief.
The men then guided the blooded gas mask man away from everything and they all headed inside of the nearby building as the police took care of the hostages and the last terrorist who survived out of the rest.
"I'd so do him" Lynn mumbled.
"Lynn you can't just say that about some guy you don't know"
"Alright! Let's just go back to dinner" Rita said as she clapped her hands and started to head back inside the dining room.
"Yeah we don't need to see that anymore" Lynn Sr agreed as he turned the tv off. Everyone returned to their chairs and continued eating the still hot food.
Present
"We're here!" the driver told them as the van stopped.
Everyone got out the vans, Lincoln found them to be parked outside a nearby town to their base. The drivers then drove away, leaving everyone together.
"Alright" Adams stood in front of everyone.
"We're here for the next few hours, so make the most of it before tomorrow, we have some new recruits joining" Adams announced before everyone went in different directions.
Most of the men headed to the nearest tattoo shop. Lincoln followed. Inside was a waiting room and a bunch of tattoo designs on the walls and pictures of strange designs. Ones such as homer simpson if he was a xenomorph, a flame skull, playing cards. Even some joke ones like Johnny Depp, The Mad Hatter, Jack Sparrow, Willy Wonka...d-damn they really like Johnny Depp.
Peters was beside Lincoln and nudged him "You sure you don't want one pal?" Peters asked while chewing some gum.
"What are you chewing?" Lincoln asked him.
"Gum. Helps when you smoke sometimes so you don't crave a cigarette, you want a piece?" Peters asked as he handed Lincoln a piece.
Lincoln shrugged and took a piece from Peters "Thanks man" Lincoln thanked him and tossed the piece in his mouth and proceeded to chew.
"Anyway. Like I was asking, are you going to get one or not?" Peters asked with his hands in his pockets as he watched everyone pick out their tattoos from books.
Lincoln tilted his head to the side "I really don't know, I never thought about getting a tattoo. My sister got one when she turned 18 and she was all tough about it. Said it didn't hurt one bit, but I think that's bullshit" Lincoln explained.
"So, is that a yeah?" Peters asked smirking a little.
Lincoln really thought about it. Should he get one? And if so, what should he get. Lincoln walked up to one of the books on the table and opened it and started flipping through the pages of different designs. Peters stood beside him as he watched Lincoln flip through the books.
Lots of designs but none fitted Lincolns like. There was one page reserved for the army. Lincoln looked a lot of designs for that. Some being ones such as an anchor and compass, rank symbols, dog tags and even sleeves. They were all too much to decide from. But then Lincoln felt a tap on his shoulder, he looked, and Peters had lifted his shirt up to reveal his chest. On the top right of his chest was the SAS symbol and moto "Who Dares Wins"
"This was my first tattoo when I joined the SAS" Peters explained and then put his shirt down "Might be the one for you since you're with us" he recommended Lincoln.
It seemed good, Lincoln liked the idea of it.
"Will they just give them to anyone who asks?" Lincoln asked Peters.
"Well, the tattooist here is a veteran, so she knows a special forces when she sees one" Peters laughed "And since you're with us and she knows us, she won't doubt us when we tell her you're with us"
Lincoln laughed as well. He thought about the tattoo.
"Alright, let's go with that" Lincoln agreed to Peters idea.
"Nice, she also tattoos veterans first tattoo for free, so you won't need to pay anything" Peters informed Lincoln.
Lincoln was both nervous and excited to get his first tattoo. For FREE as well.
"So, who's up first?" a feminine British voice asked amongst the crowd.
Lincoln turned around and saw a rather pretty tall woman, not as tall as Lincoln. She was covered in tattoos going up to her neck and down her arms and her legs. She wore a black crop top hoodie with the sleeves rolled up her arms and ripped jeans where you can see the tattoos in the rips. She also had black boots on, same as the ones Lincoln wore. And a cap that was backwards while her black hair was tied into a ponytail.
Everyone busted out shouting "ME ME ME!" almost like a bunch of little kids wanting to be the first picked for something. She scanned the room until she saw Peters. She walked up to him while her other tattoo artists attended to the rest of the men.
"Peters!" she said as she hugged him.
"Hey Sarah" Peters said as he returned the hug to her "You been alright have you?" Peters asked as they pulled from the hug.
"Yeah you know, work and bills, always a fun time" Sarah joked a little "You in for another tattoo with these lot?" she asked.
"Not sure, maybe. This here is Lincoln by the way" Peters said as he introduced Lincoln.
Lincoln held out his hand "Nice to meet you Sarah"
Sarah raised her eyebrow as she shook his hand "You're American aren't you?"
Lincoln and Peters both laughed "Yeah I am, Michigan" Lincoln said as he told her where he's from.
"Oh, that's nice, I have some family out there" Sarah told Lincoln "Did these lot rope you into their little squad haha"
"Very funny" Peters said as he shook his head.
"Ahaha, yeah partly" Lincoln agreed almost.
Peters nudged Lincoln as he continued to speak "The kid here is after his first tattoo. So, I recommended the special forces one for him since he's been working with us for a month now" Peters told Sarah and she understood now.
"Ahh right I see. Well, since this is your first im guessing Peters already told you that you don't have to pay?" Sarah asked Lincoln to which he nodded in response.
"Yeah, that's right, I'm wanting it on my bicep" Lincoln said as he pointed to his arm.
"I know where the bicep is hun" Sarah laughed a little "Come with me I'll sort you out" Sarah said as she took Lincolns hand and leaded him into the room.
Inside was a few chairs and equipment like tattoo guns, ink, more pictures of designs and other tattoo artists tattooing the other men. She guided Lincoln to one of the chairs, obviously for him to sit on.
"Take off your jacket and roll your sleeve up and just take a seat and I'll sort you out" Sarah said as he pulled up a chair for herself to sit on.
Lincoln took off his jacket and set it aside, then rolled up his sleeve and then sat down. Sarah pulled out a razor and started to shave some of Lincoln's hair off his arm. She then put some gloves on and proceeded to wipe some Dettol on it to clean his arm from bacteria. Then she pulled out a pre-cut stencil for the tattoo and placed it on Lincolns arm and peeled it off after a while leaving the blue stencil line on Lincolns arm. With that done she pulled out her tattoo gun and poured some black ink into a cap and dipped the tip of the gun in the ink and turned it on.
Before she started to tattoo Lincolns arm, she leaned into his ear and whispered "If you don't scream, I'll give you a little kiss after cutie" after saying that she pressed the gun into Lincolns arm. Lincoln was met with a burn feeling in his arm that felt like he was getting burned by the bottom of a hot pan. This caused him to bite his lip, Sarah stopped and wiped any excess ink off the tattoo and looked up at Lincoln.
"Either you enjoy this, or you REALLY want that kiss heh" Sarah whispered on the 'REALLY'
Lincoln didn't answer as she then continued. He kept biting his tongue. He wasn't really trying to get a kiss from the beautiful, tattooed girl, but really didn't want to look like a pussy in front of the other men.
"Don't forget to breath" Sarah said without looking up as she could tell Lincoln was trying to hold his breath in. He started to breath finally.
After that all he could feel was just the burning feeling in his arm. He looked around, not sure about what to do other than waiting.
"You can talk to me as well" Sarah said.
"Oh right" Lincoln realised "Peters told me you're a veteran" Lincoln mentioned.
"Of course, he did" Sarah said chuckling a tiny bit while still focusing on Lincolns tattoo "Yeah I was like one of them when I was your age kid"
"What branch did you start off in?" Lincoln asked her.
"I was in the army, same as you I take it?" Sarah asked Lincoln.
Lincoln nodded "Yeah I was in the army for almost 3 years before being applying for delta force" Lincoln explained "Then I came here a month ago and been training with Peters team"
"You think you might join their team?" Sarah asked Lincoln.
"Is that allowed?" Lincoln asked Sarah as he was unsure if he could leave delta force and join the SAS with Peters.
"It's not talked about often as it should be, but yeah. If the commanders approve of you then you could move down here, basically be part of the team for as long as you want to serve" Sarah explained to Lincoln while she stuck his arm with a hot piercing needle.
"How- ah- how long did you serve before leaving?" Lincoln asked as he felt a sharp pain from the needle.
"4 years in the army and 10 years in the SAS, ever since I left home" Sarah said as she was halfway done with the tattoo.
"Well how come you left after 10 years?" Lincoln asked her.
Sarah was focused on a little detail in the tattoo, so Lincoln let her concentrate before answering.
She finished the detail "I met someone, and he was amazing, and I wanted to be with him" Sarah said.
This made Lincoln a little happy to hear she chose love "Until I found out he was already married and had kids"
"Ahah!" one of the men from the room laughed out loud.
Sarah looked behind her but didn't see who laughed. She turned back to Lincoln and kept working on his arm.
"Sorry to hear that. How old are you may I ask?" Lincoln asked her.
Sarah turned the tattoo gun off "What a rude thing to ask a lady!" Sarah said in shock.
Lincoln panicked a little "U-uh n-no I didn't- I mean... I-"
"Relax kid, I'm pulling your leg" Sarah laughed which made Lincoln nervously laugh. She went back to tattooing his arm.
"I'm 30. I joined when I was 16 after I got kicked out of the house"
Lincoln fell silent after hearing her say she got kicked out. What could she get kicked out for?
"Is alright to ask-" Lincoln was then cut off by Sarah "I got kicked out after I joined. I told them I wanted to join, they told me if I thought about it then I would get kicked out and to not come back home" Sarah explained to Lincoln.
"So, you haven't talked to them since?" Lincoln asked her "You can say that. I still talk to my brothers and sisters, and cousins. Just not my parents, they don't agree with our family putting ourselves first for our country. But that didn't stop me from doing what I wanted to do" Sarah explained after then finishing up Lincolns tattoo "And that is you all done. Good job, I figured you would cry at the first second" Sarah laughed as she pulled a mirror out and showed Lincoln.
Lincoln saw the dagger aiming down with wings around it and a banner near the tip of the knife with the SAS moto 'Who Dares Wins'
Their was some blood on Lincolns arm but that didn't worry him. Sara then took out a tube of cream from her drawer and handed it to Lincoln.
"Rub just a penny amount of this on your tattoo for 2 weeks and that should be good to go. And don't expose it to too much sunlight or it'll fade faster. Oh, and don't wear tight clothes around it, wear something looser and comfier" Sarah informed Lincoln everything while smiling.
"Thanks" Lincoln said as he took the tube while smiling at her.
"Oh and" Sarah smiled and leaned down, placing her hand on Lincolns chest and planting a small kiss on his cheek "That's for being a brave little soldier" Sarah giggled.
Lincoln blushed after he got a kiss from the woman. Lincoln stood up from the chair and admired his new and first tattoo. Sarah put her arm around Lincoln.
"Don't go cheating on me with another tattooist. Come back next time and we'll get a sleeve done for you like Adams has" Sarah laughed and let go of Lincoln and attended to the rest of the men wanting tattoos.
Lincoln grabbed his jacket and walked out the room and found Peters sitting in the waiting room. Once he saw Lincoln he stood up and saw Lincolns tattoo.
"Aye that's what I'm talking about" Peters clapped his hands "Did you cry?" Peters asked Lincoln.
He saw the little smudge of lipstick on Lincolns cheek, which said a lot "Never mind, I can tell you didn't" Peters said chuckling as he pointed to his cheek.
Lincoln wiped the lipstick off his cheek after Peters pointed it out "Alright, let's go get a pint" Peters said as him and Lincoln left.
"Adams said to meetup inside the white hart" Peters explained as Lincoln followed while putting his jacket on.
"Any idea where he went-"
*BANG BANG BANG BANG BANG BANG BANG*
Both of Lincoln and Peters ears were disrupted by the sound of gunfire. Peters and Lincoln went down to the ground behind a trash can in the street as they were met with three gunmen in the middle of the street holding assault rifles and wearing masks. It looked to be a bank robbery as they headed inside of a bank in the high street of the town. One of them had a bag, so that meant they planned on taking more than a few pockets full of money.
"Holy shit" Lincoln mumbled as he saw them head in.
Everyone had ran away once hearing the gunshots, running down the street or inside a store to get to safety. Peters looked behind them and saw they weren't far from the vans.
"Come on" Peters patted Lincoln and started to head back to the vans "For what?" Lincoln asked him.
"There's some gear in our van we travelled in. Come on" Peters told Lincoln as they started to run to the vans.
Once reaching the vans, Peters opened the back of the van and pulled a rucksack bag out and revealed body armour and masks.
"We make it a ritual to take some gear in case of shit like this" Peters informed Lincoln as he handed Lincoln the camo body armour and a black balaclava. Lincoln strapped the armour to his chest and put on the balaclava mask protecting his identity. Peters then pulled one rucksack out that was heavier than the first. Inside was modified Colt Canada rifles.
The black rifle was modified with a standing stock, a scope, a vertical grip, a strap and optional lasers attachments. Peters took one out and handed it to Lincoln and a magazine to which Lincoln loaded the gun. Lincoln then took out a couple extra magazines same as Peters and slide them inside his body armour that can hold the magazines.
"Alright. Adams is probably on his way to get the other radio. Lets go" Peters said as he closed the van doors and the pair started to run down the high street to the bank.
Lincoln had no idea that they could intervene situations like this while off duty. The bar situation seemed normal but this? He was not expecting something like this to happen while off duty.
They reached outside the bank and Peters took one side of the entrance while Lincoln stayed on the other. The ringing of the alarm from the bank was a good sign as police were on their way.
"Peters where are you?" It was Adams on the radio.
Peters had brought his radio with him and pulled it out.
"Me and sergeant Loud are outside the bank. We have our gear and have the entrance secured. If you guys can get people to safety, we can take it from here" Peters replied to Adams.
"Copy that Peters" Adams responded back.
"What's the plan?" Lincoln asked Peters.
Peters then pulled out a flashbang grenade.
"Once that door opens, I'll throw this in. That should give us enough time to head in and take out the robbers" Peters planned out.
Lincoln nodded to Peters plan "Need to try and get a look to see where they are right now" Peters mentioned as he tried peeking through the glass door. Lincoln peeked as well around the corner.
As they were doing so, Adams and the men were guiding everyone out nearby buildings and guiding them away from the bank while Lincoln and Peters stayed in front of the entrance of the bank. People were recording the event on their phones. But Adams and the men kept pushing them away. With that being done, the armed police had arrived.
"Guns!" One of them yelled as they took aim with their rifles.
"Hold on!" Adams yelled as he stood in front of them "They're off duty SAS soldiers, they're handling this!" Adams explained to them.
"Can they even handle this themselves?" one of the officers asked Adams as they put their guns down.
"Believe me they can. Now get some men on the other side in case the robbers try escaping!" Adams practically demanding and the officers complied, believing Adams is also an SAS soldier.
The crowd had stayed well back from the bank while the armed officers had blocked the street with their cars and stayed behind them while guarding.
Lincoln and Peters saw one man guarding the hostages while the other two were in the middle of taking the money. They stopped peeking and looked at each other.
"Alright, if we throw one in, we can distract that one robber and you go and throw one in with the men behind the counter. It looks like they broke in the door that leads to the counters so just throw one in and close it tightly. Then move in" Peters explained to Lincoln as he handed him another flash.
Lincoln took it and let go of his rifle as he let it dangle down his side.
"Ready?" Peters asked Lincoln as he then grabbed the door handle.
Lincoln nodded and grabbed the other door handle.
"3...2...1 GO" Peters yelled.
Peters opened the door and threw in a flashbang.
*BANG*
The flashbang exploded inside.
"OW FUCK!" the robber shouted as their vision was compromised!
"GO GO GO" Peters yelled and both him and Lincoln opened the doors wider.
"GUN DOWN DROP THE FUCKING GUN" Peters yelled to the man.
One of them lifted his gun up to Peters and received a few bullets to the chest.
*BANG BANG BANG BANG*
His body dropped to the ground and Peters scanned the room seeing the hostages laying down on the ground.
Lincoln made his way to the door leading to the counters that was protected by the bullet proof glass.
"What the fuck is happening out there?!" one of them men yelled as they couldn't see because of the smoke from the flashbang.
"Uh Tom" the other said as he pointed to his partners chest.
On Toms chest was a green dot aimed by Peters. Tom and his friend laughed "Nice try this is bullet proof glass!" he yelled out.
"I'm not trying to shoot you! Just distracting you!"
They were confused until a flashbang rolled in between them by Lincoln and then closing the door.
*BANG*
The men were blasted with the flashbang causing them to drop their weapons to the ground and the money they had in their bag.
Lincoln then moved in and aimed his gun at the men with his laser turned on as well.
"STEP AWAY FROM THE GUNS NOW!" Lincoln yelled. The men dropped to the ground and crawled away from the guns and laid down on their stomach. Lincoln stepped up the guns and kicked them away from the men.
"They're down and unarmed!" Lincoln shouted to peters.
Peters nodded and pulled his radio out "Adams, building is secured. Hostages secured and one robber down, other two in custody. Send in the officers"
"Copy that sergeant. Get in there!" Peters heard Adams yelled to the police over the radio.
The police then stormed the bank and Lincoln stepped aside to let the officers come in and put their handcuffs on the robbers. The other officers went over to the man Peters shot. They checked his pulse, they found that he was deceased.
Lincoln and Peters left the bank and watched as the officers dragged the two robbers out to their van. They walked down the street as they kept their firearms close to the side of their bodies. The crowd of people started taking their pictures and videos of what had happened, and it was causing almost a riot.
"Alright everyone! Give them some room!" Adams shouted as him and the rest of the men surrounded Lincoln and Peters and guided them through the crowd and on their way to the vans. Adams walked between Lincoln and Peters as they headed their way to the vans to get out the town. The crowd attempted to follow but the police officers that arrived after Lincoln and Peters stopped the robbery had blocked their way and told them to leave them alone.
Adams looked behind and saw the coast was clear "You can take your masks off now. We're good" Adams informed them, and Lincoln immediately took the balaclava off.
"Jesus, I forgot how much you sweat in this thing!" Lincoln laughed as they kept walking. It was nice and cold since it was dark out so he can enjoy the temperature.
Lincoln and Peters took their armour off and put their weapons away in the van, the other men taking them and unloading the rifles and putting the magazines away.
"Good job. You alright Lincoln? I know that was the first time you dealt with a situation off duty without a real plan" Peters asked him.
Lincoln wiped the sweat off his face and looked at Peters smiling almost "Yeah, I'm alright. Just kind of need to sleep"
"Well, I could use a pint" Peters said "Me too" Adams joined in as well.
The rest of the men agreed. Lincoln was the only one who wanted to go back to the base "How am I going to get back to the base?" Lincoln asked them.
"Maybe you can try getting a taxi" Peters suggested "Or we could get someone to drive the van-"
"I can take him back to base"
The men turned around and saw Sarah with a leather jacket on and car keys in her hand "I know where the base is, and I have a car. I just closed the shop after hearing the gun shots, come on hun" Sarah said as she started walking to her car in the car park.
"I'll see you guys after" Lincoln said as he waved to them and started following Sarah to her car.
"I saw you taking off your armour. I'm guessing Peters the one who dragged you into it didn't he?" Sarah asked with a smile on her face.
Lincoln scratched the back of his head "Yeah, he did. We saw how many gunmen there were so I guess he figured we should do something. It's all good, we got it done" Lincoln said as he sounded proud with himself and Peters.
Sarah rolled her eyes a little "Knowing Peters he always heads towards the danger like that. Pretty impressive you managed to save everyone" Sarah let Lincoln know as she walked up to a grey Ford Mustang Mach-E. She got into the driers seat while Lincoln sat in the passenger.
They clipped their seatbelts on, and Sarah started to drive off. Since it was late at night, there were less cars, and the streetlights were on lighting up the road in the night.
"So...how's the tattoo?" Sarah asked Lincoln. He rolled up his sleeve and checked his tattoo. The blood was dripping a little bit but the tattoo itself was sensitive and he could still feel the burning feeling.
"It hurts" Lincoln said as he and Sarah started to laugh together about it "Yeah it will be like that for a day or two, but it will feel like you never even got it" Sarah explained as she kept her eyes on the road.
They stayed silent for a little bit.
"Hey Sarah?" Lincoln spoke up "Yes hun?" Sarah replied as she wondered what Lincoln was going to say.
"How often do you visit your family?" Lincoln asked her "Pfft. If you mean my siblings, I probably see them a couple times a week, why do you ask?" Sarah asked him after answering his question.
"Well, before coming to the town I was reading my families letters they sent me. They all miss me and wish I could come home" Lincoln explained to her.
"Do you contact them?" Sarah asked him "Yeah I got a new phone recently and I've only emailed them. If I messaged them then I guess that would distract me since I haven't even seen their faces for years now" Lincoln admitted to Sarah with a little guilt.
"Lincoln that's exactly how it was for me with my brother and sister. They would always miss me and wanted me to come home. Saying how much they wished I was there for their birthdays and Christmas and other occasions. It's just tough especially when I'm always needed in a job like this. The other guys go home to see their families and I just stay in the quarters, training and attending the weapons. Even helping some of the staff with training new recruits. I just feel too committed to this and I'm putting it before my family" Lincoln ranted a little to Sarah who was happy to listen to him talk about what's on his mind. Once Lincoln
"Lincoln I've been in your place before. When my parents kicked me out, I didn't have anywhere to go. I only stayed in the quarters and called my siblings to see how things were. I missed going back home to my family welcoming me back but instead my parents wouldn't allow me to come inside" Sarah joined in with the rant.
"It sucks not being able to see your family isn't it" Lincoln agreed with her "Yeah...it really does" Sarah agreed with Lincoln.
"But things are good now for you. You have a job, in contact with your siblings and you aren't being held back from your career" Lincoln said to Sarah which made her smile a little.
"What point are you trying to get across Lincoln?" Sarah asked him as she was nearing the base.
"What you said before. That I can move down here if I want to..." Lincoln trailed off as he figured Sarah could pick up on what he was trying to say. Which she did "You want to transfer to Adams team and move down to the UK?" Sarah asked Lincoln.
Lincoln scratched his head a little the more he thought of it when it came out of someone else's mouth instead of his head "I've thought about it. I love working with them and what the country has to offer to me" Lincoln explained "And I also feel like I've found my purpose and where I belong" Lincoln confirmed with Sarah.
Sarah pulled over to the side of the road in front of the base. In front of them was a gate guarded by some of the guards.
"What do you think I should do?" Lincoln asked her as he took off his seatbelt.
Sarah stayed silent for a moment as she gathered what she needed to say to Lincoln "I think you should do what makes you happy. And if transferring to Adams team is what you want to do and move down here, I say go for it hun" Sarah said as she turned her head to Lincoln smiling.
Lincoln smiled back "Okay. I'll talk to Adams about it and see what he thinks. Thanks for the ride Sarah, you didn't have to" Lincoln said smiling still as he opened the car door and stepped out. Sarah then rolled down her window side and whistled for Lincoln.
Lincoln was a little confused but walked over to her driver's side door and bent down "What's up?" Lincoln asked her.
Sarah pulled out a pen and took Lincolns arm and started to write a phone number down on his arm. Once she finished Lincoln looked at it and back up at Sarah "What's this for?" Lincoln asked her.
"My number. Let me know how it goes so I can book you for another appointment for your next tattoo" she winked at Lincoln and started to drive away.
Lincoln can't believe he met a great girl. Yeah, she's older than him by almost 10 years but that shouldn't stop him. They're both adults. He watched her drive away and then walked up to the gate.
"State your name and business!" one of the guards yelled through the gate.
"Sergeant Lincoln Loud. Just recently back from a night out with my squad and Lieutenant Colonel Adams" Lincoln informed them.
"Oi let the bairn in would ye!"
"Yes sarge!"
Lincoln remembers that accent from anywhere, it was Connors. On the other side having just walked by and saw Lincoln at the gate. The gate then slid open allowing Lincoln to walk through.
"Thank you" Lincoln thanked Connors as he shook his hand.
"Nae bother son. Where you and the lads been tonight?" Connors asked as they headed to Lincolns quarters.
"Just went out for tattoos" Lincoln mentioned "There was also a bank robbery me and Peters saw. So, we grabbed our armour and rifles and stopped them. Hostages saved and only one robber died after Peters shot him when he refused to drop his gun" Lincoln informed Connors on it.
"Yeah, I know. Adams told me about everything over the radio. Let's see the tattoo then" Connors asked as they reached the quarters and headed inside.
Lincoln took his jacket off and rolled up his t-shirt sleeve to show Connors. Connors was impressed with his tattoo.
"Sarah did that for you didn't she" Connors laughed a little and crossed his arms while walking up and down past the beds.
"Yeah. Everyone seems to know her" Lincoln laughed a bit as he sat down on his bed sorting through his letters.
"Yer getting more letters frim yer family. They'll be brought to ya the morrow" Connors told Lincoln "Ah thanks. They always keep sending them" Lincoln shook his head while still smiling and putting the papers away in his nightstand with the rest.
"Yeah. Gid thing they willnae need ti send mare" Connors stood in front of Lincoln "What do you mean?" Lincoln asked him.
"I got word from yer commander. You and yer team are heading back home to Michigan tomorrow night"
Lincolns face dropped a little after hearing that. He hadn't told Connors yet what he wanted to do, was it too late? Connors then spoke up again "Unless you're planning on staying with us and want to transfer to our team" Connors was smiling a little as Lincolns face beamed up a little like a kid on Christmas.
"I can? Really?" Lincoln asked as he stood up in front of Connors.
"You just say the word and we'll get ye sorted the morrow for it with the commanders" Connors then stuck his hand out to Lincoln "Just need ti shake on it as well"
Lincoln thought for a moment. He can either head home and see his family again and be unsure of what to do with the rest of his life back in Michigan. Doing more boring work in delta force in America or Iraq. Or he can stay in the UK, working with Connors men and continue training and missions with the men. This all came down to a few words and a handshake to seal the deal. He looked up at Connors and down at his hand.
"I'm with you guys" Lincoln agreed and shook Connors hand.
"Alright...ye might want to phone Sarah now" Connors laughed and pointed to the phone number on Lincolns arm.
"Oh yeah!" Lincoln forgot about the number and grabbed his new phone from his nightstand and proceeded to type in the number.
"Get some sleep. Yer a part of us now, so make sure ti own that tattoo. Who Dares Wins"
"Who Dares Wins" Lincoln repeated back what Connors said as he then left Lincolns quarters. Lincoln finished dialling in the number and proceeded to phone Sarah.
"Hello?" Sarah then picked up answering it.
"Hey Sarah!" Lincoln spoke "Oh hey! I see you didn't forget about me" Sarah joked a little making Lincoln laugh.
"So?" Sarah asked him "Are you staying?"
Lincoln paused for a little bit. He wanted to get the words right.
"Lincoln?" she asked as the line was cold.
"Sarah" Lincoln spoke.
"Yeah?"
"Do you have an extra room?" Lincoln laughed. Making Sarah laugh as well.
He was staying.
And that will do us for now!
I enjoyed that very much and hopefully you guys did as well. I enjoyed the tattoo part. I recently got two tattoos done so I REALLY know what it feels like to get a tattoo. The first time hurt and the second hurt even worse. It really won't get too easy.
Let me know some tattoo ideas for Lincoln to get to make a sleeve or even a patch sleeve, that's what I'm working to get on my right arm now. Going to get my third one done this week on Friday as I'm posting this chapter on Monday today.
The transition as well. I am again not entirely sure if other special forces can transfer to another special force, it doesn't really say. But we're just going to roll with it since it works quite well for how this story will go in my eyes.
Hope you all enjoyed it and I look forward to seeing you in the next chapter!
