Ch. 22: Naegi to seito-kai part 1
The next day, the scene shifts at the headmaster's office where Jin receive the report about what occurred last night, and Kizakura smirked after reading the report that Naegi played a part in stopping the burglars, and this gives Jin reason to consider the thought about giving Naegi the chance to be transferred to the main course.
Jin said he will think about it carefully, though Kizakura told him to be careful as he reminded that the Steering Committee members are against it, which Jin said that he will not let them influence his decision and be intimidated.
"The steering committee won't have their way."
"Really, Jin?"
"Yes."
"Will those guys be willing to listen?"
"They will have to accept the fact that Makoto Naegi deserve the chance to get transferred to the main course of Hope's Peak."
"Sounds reassuring."
"…"
"…"
At the student council clubroom, the student council are having a meeting as they got word that Naegi is partially responsible in capturing the burglars with assistance from Kibo and Maizono, and now they are awaiting if Naegi would visit the student council or ignore it altogether, as they are sure that Kibo has told him about it.
"So…you have heard…"
"Yes."
"Naegi is the talk of today…"
"Do you think that he got our message?"
"I do hope so."
"He better leave a good impression…"
"I'm looking forward to today."
"Me too."
Soon one of the council's members came and told the president that he accidentally overheard the Steering Committee members are plotting something to prevent Naegi from being chosen to be transferred to the main course, and there he said that he overheard that the committee members are exploring the possibility of removing Jin Kirigiri as the headmaster and replace him with someone else so as to keep Naegi from being noticed by the main course officials.
The student council members glanced at each other and finds it quite alarming as they did not expect that the steering committee members would be that desperate just because they see Naegi as too ordinary and would get themselves insecure over a boy who just showed potential.
"So then…"
"The steering committee has shown their colors…"
"Indeed. Such fools they turn out…"
"Are they really serious? Feeling threatened by a mere high school boy?"
"They are so shallow that they favor vanity over quality."
"And their foolishness has even affected the main course students."
"What now, president?"
"Your thoughts on this, please…"
The student council president then thought carefully about what to do as aside from the Steering Committee members, even some main course students are against the idea of a reserve course student getting drafted to the main course and felt that there is discrimination within Hope's Peak Superhero Academy.
He told his council members that they should address this to the headmaster so as he would come up with a way to put a stop to the thoughtless mentality as he believed that any students in Hope's Peak Superhero Academy should be seen as equals and not who is the superior and the inferior.

Meanwhile, Naegi, wearing the enigmatic red suit and cape, is on his way to Hope's Peak after a brief stopover as he helped the cops bring down a group of bank robbers, hence he was slightly late and he is heading for the gate of the Academy when he saw a pair of main course students entered. There Naegi puts on his Academy uniform and proceeded to the gates of Hope's Peak.
However, as Naegi is about to enter, the guard abruptly closed and locked the gate and Naegi asked what is the meaning of this, which the guard said he is just doing what he is told, which is lock the gate once all students are in. Naegi said that he is a student here but the guard said that he is just following orders.
It is revealed that one of the steering committee members instructed the guard not to let Naegi in no matter what, and he provide the guard the picture of Naegi so as to let him know who Naegi is and prevent him from entering.
"Sorry. No latecomers allowed…"
"But…you just let those two students in even after you…"
"Sorry. No latecomers allowed…"
"Then why are you.."
"Sorry. No latecomers allowed…"
"Are you listening to me?"
"Sorry. No latecomers allowed…"
"Why won't you…?"
However, a reserve course student saw the scene, and suspect that Naegi is being discriminated for a reason and tells the guard to let Naegi in, pointing out that he let two students in before Naegi, but the guard reiterated that he is doing what he is told, and said that it is Naegi's fault and not the guard's.
The reserve course student, identified as Hajime Hinata, is not pleased with this and leaves, intending to talk to the headmaster and report the guard's bullying tactics while the guard turned his back to leave Naegi there, but Naegi sighed as he felt that he didn't want to resort to this and using the red suit's hidden abilities, which is concealed under his Academy school uniform, he ran back quite far before running then jumped, where he flew over the locked gate, surprising the guard as Naegi flew in a haphazard way before landing on a thick bush, where Hinata is there and is surprised at seeing Naegi.
"Whoa!"
"Ow…"
"Aren't you…?"
"…"
"How did you…?"
"…"
"Are you okay?"
"Y-yeah…"
As Hinata helps Naegi up, he tells him to head to class before the guard comes up with an excuse to have him haul out of Hope's Peak Superhero Academy, which Naegi nodded as he ran off towards the school building for the reserve course.
After that, the guard came and asked if he has seen Naegi, and Hinata feigned innocent, claiming that he thought that Naegi is locked from the outside of the gate, and the guard is rambling as the steering committee would berate him for letting Naegi in, thus making it clear that the steering committee is behind this as the guard left to find Naegi.
Hinata is pissed and said that he has to tell the headmaster about this, just as Kibo passed by and somewhat heard what Hinata just said and asked the reserve course student about it when Naegi's name is mentioned.
Hinata's explanation didn't sit well and said that he will come with him to the headmaster's office as he also will not let the steering committee get away with this, surprising Hinata as he didn't expect that a main course student like Kibo is friends with a reserve course student like Naegi.
"Are you…Naegi's friend…?"
"Yes."
"But…you're from the main course…are you sure you…"
"I am Naegi-sensei's follower. Just because we're sorted to different courses doesn't mean we are worlds apart."
"Really?"
"Yes."
"…"
"Come now."
The two Hope's Peak students head off to the main building as they intend to tell the headmaster about the situation and hoped that the headmaster would listen to reason as it is clear that the steering committee is picking on Naegi for some shallow reason.

At the steering committee lounge, the steering committee members are dismayed after getting word that Naegi managed to get in despite strict orders to the guard not to let the boy in, and just minutes ago, the headmaster showed signs of standing up to them as he tells the Steering Committee to stop picking on Naegi and leave him alone.
The members are debating on how to get Naegi expelled without exposing themselves, and they are facing a blank wall as they tried various ways which proved ineffective and had to think of other ways to make it appear that Naegi is not fit to be a student here.
"We got to do something!"
"Like what?"
"Anything!"
"We're thinking, dammit!"
"We can't let that Naegi brat INFECT the rest of the main course!"
"You got a better idea?"
"What was that?"
"Gentlemen…calm down…"
Much later, Naegi is at the garden area of the Academy as he wondered what really happened as he never thought that the guard would do something like this, unaware of the fact that the Steering Committee members are targeting him because they seemed him an eyesore because he is the first reserve course student who is being eyed for transfer to the main course of the Academy.
By then, one of the student council members of the main course of Hope's Peak came and glanced at Naegi from head to toe, noting how plain and ordinary he looked, and as Naegi asked if there is something the person need, the student council member introduced himself and said that the student council of the main course of Hope's Peak wanted to speak to him in person and in private, which baffled Naegi.
"The…student council…wished to speak to…me…?"
"Yes."
"Why? What for?"
"It seems that my fellow council members were intrigued about you."
"Me?"
"Yes."
"Are you…suspecting me of…?"
"Oh, no…it's not like what you are thinking…"
The student council member assured to him that he did nothing wrong and said that this is more like an interview of sorts, saying that they got word that he is being eyed for transfer to the main course and this attracted the attention of the student council and its president appeared to be intrigued about Naegi.
The student council member tells Naegi that the student council wanted an interview with him after class and said that it would be just a question and answer portion and no acts of discrimination.
"Really?"
"Yes."
"…"
"The student council only wished to ask you a few questions. Nothing more."
"Really?"
"Yes."
"That's all…?"
"That's all."
After that, the student council member left, and Naegi pondered whether to see the student council or not, as this is the first time he encountered something like this and yet he noticed that there is no hint of hostility from the student council member's part.
Hours later, after classes, Naegi is seen standing outside the building of the main course of Hope's Peak Superhero Academy, and he took a deep breath as he sets foot to enter, but then he is confronted by some of the main course students who objected to the fact that a reserve course student intend to enter here and tells him he is not allowed.
They became irritated when told that the student council wished to speak to him but they believe that Naegi is lying and they are getting ready to fight him off just to prevent a PARASITE from entering the main course building and made it clear that the main course building is off-limits to reserve course students.
"No trashes allowed!"
"And that means the reserve course!"
"We don't want you here!"
"Get lost!"
"You're a disgrace!"
"An eyesore!"
"You have no right coming here!"
"Leave now or we beat you up!"
Suddenly, Kibo and Maizono showed up and stood in front of Naegi, telling their fellow main course students to stop harassing Naegi and to leave him alone, as he hasn't done anything to cause trouble here, and when Kibo asked why Naegi is here, he realized that the student council is serious about speaking to Naegi, and he tells him to go see them at once.
Naegi nodded as he proceeded to enter, but as the main course students started to act hostile and poised to stop Naegi, Kibo and Maizono blocked their path and said that if the main course students are insistent in harassing Naegi, then they will fight them off as protecting the defenseless is also part of being a pro hero.
"Stop right there!"
"Leave Naegi-kun alone!"
"He never cause any trouble, yet you acted hostile because he is from the reserve course!"
"You lot are a disgrace for picking on a boy who haven't done anything to you!"
"But if you insist on harming Naegi-sensei…I will fight you!"
"Same goes for me!"
"So either you stop this foolishness…"
"…or we will be forced to face you!"
