First off: belated happy New Year and welcome to 2022. Last month I said that this fic will be ready by the end of January, but for a reason it ended up getting delayed, in which I won't make any excuses. It is because I caught the COVID despite getting vaccinated, and I believe that I have gotten the Omicron variant. Thankfully I managed to recover while isolating myself inside my house but as a result working on this and my other fanfics slowed down, hence the late update of this fic.

Now that I finished my explanation…time to get down to business…

Many thanks to those who read and reviewed this fic. I really appreciated it and this gave me inspiration to work on the next chapter and here the situation gets intense as the student council arc concluded, yet Naegi gets a bit if trouble as hostile main course students are now determined to chase him out of Hope's Peak Superhero Academy…

And now things are about to get intense as a new arc commences…

Ch. 28: Atarashī kyōi

Several minutes after the Headmaster quelled off the potential violence that might have happened, the scene shifts at the student council room, the president has just adjourned the meeting, as they just finished their discussion about Naegi, as they all agreed that he has potential and that he might be the first reserve course student that could make the jump to the main course department.

"So, my fellow council members…what do you think…do you believe that Makoto Naegi has the potential to make it to the main course…?"

"Well…I have to admit…"

"Naegi does have the potential…"

"Provided that he doesn't let situation get over to his head…"

"I agree. As long as he stays humble."

"Naegi can be a hero in his own right."

"I suppose…"

"Yeah…"

One of the council members commented that word would surely spread about Naegi's potential transfer to the main course, which some main course students are sure to oppose it as they couldn't accept the fact that a reserve course student is able to attract the attention of the headmaster and some main course students who are drawn to him.

The rest agreed, noting that Kibo is the first to come to Naegi's defense, then Maizono and now Ohgami and Ishimaru, and the rest of the student council members mentioned that even the Steering Committee members are opposed to letting Naegi be scouted to the main course.

The student council president told his fellow council members that they better be vigilant as there is a possibility that the hostile main course students might resort to underhanded violence to prevent Naegi from getting scouted to the main course, which the others agreed.

"Okay."

The student council members are now wondering where would this take Hope's Peak Superhero Academy now that the status quo has been compromised, as this is the first time that a reserve course student has attracted the eye of the current headmaster and thus it would be intriguing how this would affect the entire school body as a whole.

Later that night, the scene shifts at his apartment where Naegi is cleaning the area while Kibo is cooking dinner, and both still recall what happened earlier, especially when some of the main course students were hostile towards Naegi because of the fact that he is a reserve course student, and they are against letting him get transferred to the main course.

Kibo told Naegi that he should keep his guard up as he has a feeling that some of the main course students who opposes Naegi might do something drastic like attacking and ambushing him outside of Hope's Peak Superhero Academy, which Naegi nodded, seeing that Kibo has a point, especially after seeing the Steering Committee members physically and vocally oppose the idea of him being scouted for the main course department of Hope's Peak.

"…then perhaps it would be best if you remain vigilant, Naegi-sensei. There's no telling what those other students are thinking…"

"…"

"And you should consider that they might do anything to prevent you from getting into the main course."

"Yeah."

"So be ready for anything, Naegi-sensei. You may have to raise your fists in battle should that situation materialize."

"I understand."

"…"

By then Kibo stared at the window and sensed something, and he told Naegi to stay here as he said that he is going to check something out and left the apartment unit, and the scene shifts outside where Kibo looked around, using his optical sensors to scan the area, and picked up thermal reading where he detected at least four individuals hiding behind a thick bush, and there he fired a warning shot which struck the bush, forcing the intruders to reveal themselves.

They turn out to be the same main course students from Hope's Peak Superhero Academy and there they demanded to know why Kibo has stooped so low and fraternizing with a lowly reserve course student like Naegi, reasoning that Naegi is beneath them and he has no right being scouted for the main course.

Kibo answered back and tells them that Naegi is deserving as he has shown many qualities of becoming a pro hero and pointed out that the main course students in front of him have stooped to the level of petty criminals and delinquents who are causing unnecessary fuss by picking on someone who has no grudge against the main course students.

The main course students were in a state of disbelief and couldn't believe that Kibo, in their eyes, has totally stooped to the LOWEST LEVEL and deemed the teen cyborg a LOST CAUSE and they resolve to put him out of his misery along with Naegi.

"This guy is insane. He really stooped so low by defending that reserve course trash. Guys, we should take him out as well!"

"Yeah!"

As Kibo braces himself he heard sounds of window being smashed, and realized that there are other attackers here and shockingly realized that he has been lured out of the apartment unit so that other attackers would ambush Naegi, and there the main course students in front of Kibo threw what appeared to be a metallic net, and as it caught the teen cyborg, he began to convulse as the net has devices that disable electrical and mechanical parts.

There the main course students are pleased as they can get rid of both Kibo and Naegi without risking in exposing themselves as there are no people around at this time of the night, and there the rest urged their leader to get rid of Kibo once and for all as they deemed him a traitor and a garbage.

"So, guys…what should we do about this traitor?"

"Kill him!"

Suddenly, the ones who assaulted the apartment unit were seen being thrown out and landed on the ground, all beaten up and knocked out, and there the rest of the attacking students are surprised to see Naegi, wearing the red suit and cape, and he is not pleased with the attackers' antics and told them that they have LITERALLY dug their own graves.

The traitorous main course students are in a state of disbelief at seeing their fellow main course students were beaten up effortlessly by Naegi, who singlehandedly took down his attackers in such quick fashion.

"No way…"

Naegi lectures them and said that their actions have totally tarnished the reputation of Hope's Peak Superhero Academy and now they are going to pay the price by having them arrested and have them exposed to the headmaster of the academy.

The attacking students were livid as they refuse to admit their faults and began to use their TALENTS to attack Naegi, determined to get him out of Hope's Peak Superhero Academy through any means necessary, going as far as using the disabled Kibo as a hostage just to keep him from making a move.

"Stay back!"

Naegi bid his time and waited for the right moment before making his move as he did a running clothesline and knocked several away before removing the net, which Kibo apologized for not anticipating something like this, yet Naegi assured to him that he did well and tells him that he will deal with the attackers.

The attacking main course students felt insulted at hearing the two talk, and they expressed such disgust at seeing a reserve course student and a main course students getting chummy and they urged their leader that they should go all-out in order to get rid of Naegi and Kibo once and for all.

"Lets kill them!"

"Kill them!"

Naegi sighed in dismay seeing that the attacking main course students are becoming fanatical and asked them why they hate reserve course students so much, reasoning that he doesn't see any difference, but the main course students insisted that reserve course students have no right being on the main course, proclaiming that the main course students of Hope's Peak Superhero Academy have the right and reserve course students serve as the DOORMAT for aspiring main course students such as themselves.

They proclaimed that Naegi has POISONED the minds of main course students such as Kibo, Maizono and even the headmaster, hence they will take it upon themselves to SAVE Hope's Peak and ELIMINATE the INFECTION, pointing their fingers at Naegi. There they made their new intentions known and vowed to kill him and his allies regardless of the consequences.

"Lets kill them!"

"Kill them!"

Sufficiently recovered, Kibo gets up and tells Naegi that the attacking main course students are beyond redemption and tells him that the attacking main course students must be dealt with lest they might cause something that may endanger innocent lives, and possibly property damage as he pointed out the broken window of the apartment unit they are staying at.

"Naegi-sensei…"

"Yeah…?"

"There's no other way…"

"…"

"We have to take them down. They are beyond reasoning."

"Yeah…you may be right…"

"Then we shouldn't hold back."

"Point taken."

Sighing in dismay, Naegi saw the logic and made one last attempt to reason with the attackers, asking them to reconsider, but one of the attackers tosses a grenade which landed below Naegi's area, and Kibo was shocked at what he just saw.

"Naegi-sensei!"

"…"

"Watch out!"

"!"

"It's a grenade!"

"!"

"Get behind me!"

"!"

But it was too late, as the grenade exploded which blasted the area Naegi is standing on, and as the area is covered in smoke, the attacking main course students rejoiced as they believed that they finally got rid of the reserve course student and are dancing like idiots as they took pride in their self-delusion of SAVING Hope's Peak Superhero Academy from the likes of Naegi.

"We did it!"

Kibo was infuriated and angrily told the attackers that their actions have completely erased their reputation as heroes-in-training and are now considered as villains as they committed their first murder, yet the attacking main course students didn't care, as they made it clear that Kibo is the next to fall, and once this happen, there will be no witnesses and thus their reputations as Hope's Peak Superhero Academy remains.

The leader of the mob then led his cohorts in preparation to kill Kibo.

"Lets kill him!"

"Kill him!"

Hope you liked this chapter, in which Naegi became a hot topic again, although this time in a another situation as the hostile main course students are now determined to get rid of him and resorted to ambush him at his apartment and seemingly succeeded…

And now they are setting their sights on Kibo after deeming him a traitor as well as to eliminate any witnesses, thus things are intensifying further…
